America: Tinfoil hat nation
Rosie O’Donnell will be ecstatic to know that an alarmingly high number of tinfoil-covered Americans share her conspiracy-mongering views. The NYPost reports today on a new poll showing that “Blame U.S. for 9/11 idiots” are in the majority. Read it and weep:
The Truther virus is on the loose:
Nearly two-thirds of Americans believe the federal government had warnings about 9/11 but decided to ignore them, a national survey found.
And that’s not the only conspiracy theory with a huge number of true believers in the United States.
The poll found that more than one out of three Americans believe Washington is concealing the truth about UFOs and the Kennedy assassination - and most everyone is sure the rise in gas prices is one vast oil-industry conspiracy.
Sixty-two percent of those polled thought it was “very likely” or “somewhat likely” that federal officials turned a blind eye to specific warnings of the 2001 attacks on the World Trade Center and Pentagon.
Only 30 percent said the 9/11 theory was “not likely,” according to the Scripps Howard/Ohio University poll.
The findings followed a 2006 poll by the same researchers, who found that 36 percent of Americans believe federal government officials “either assisted in the 9/11 attacks or took no action” because they wanted “to go to war in the Middle East.”
In that poll, 16 percent said the Twin Towers might have collapsed because of secretly planted explosives - not hijacked passenger jets flown into them.
And what hit the Pentagon? Twelve percent figured it was a US cruise missile.

Guess Kos was right when he proclaimed of the nutroots: “We are the center.” The fringe is now mainstream:

I give up. Maybe I’ll move to Wyoming.
It can’t be… depressing.
I would really like to know how the questions were asked in this poll. Depending on how a question is asked in a poll you could get a large majority of people to state that Adolph Hitler was right with his final solution against the Jews in WWII. If this really is the consensus of the American people then we are truly doomed. Then again with all the misinformation spewing from the MSM these poor people just don’t know any better because the data they receive confirms the old adage “garbage in garbage out.”
I suspect among these idiots are Nancy Pelosi, Boxer, Murtha, Moran, employees of the State Department, Ron Paul and almost all of the MSM, particularly the editorial writers, who have become increasingly deranged. One of the causes of this universal idiocy is the presses refusal to accurately report on Iraq and WMDs, Plame?Wilson, Iran and Al Quaeda in their effort to destroy Bush. The meme that Bush is a liar resonates.
Boomer has a good point - especially as it relates to the 9/11 question.
Most of the Democratic party believes the Feds got “specific” warnings about 9/11 and did nothing. I would imagine if the question had been “Do you believe the Feds were involved in 9/11″ the percentage may have gone down considerably.
Good point, Boomer, I hope you’re right. If those numbers are at all accurate, Heaven help our country!
The way this is worded? Yes, the government did ignore little things like the first world trade center bombing.. and Beirut… and Kobar…
So yes… they did ignore warning signs. No conspiricy… just stupidity and governmental blindness…
Never suscribe to an insidious plot what plain stupidity will explain.
Kinda like NAFTA ya know…
Sex sells and conspiracies are being in the club, fun, sexy.
Of course people buy in to it.
Geesh… What is it with so-called leftist “Intellectuals” and irrationality? And they think us fundy Christians are superstitious?
Fred
To paraphrase: There are liars, damn liars, and pollsters. Just as any halfway competent prosecuter can get a ham sandwich indicted, any half way knowledgable pollster can get the answers he wants. It’s called push polling.
There were warning signs of an impending attack. Unfortunately intellegence analysis is not an exact science. If you word your poll skillfully, that inexactitude can be made to seem like intentionable culpability.
How about we have a poll asking the American people how much we trust pollster. I’ll bet the pollsters wouldn’t like the results!!!
Scripps Howard/Ohio University poll of Dennis Kucinich supporters…
On that note, I noticed that a week or 2 ago the theater in my neighborhood, (The Riverview - for those who know Mpls - granted, I do live where all of the crazy SanFran wannabes live) but the theater was playing “Loose Change the Final Cut.” I guess it wasn’t good enough to just show it the first time. And btw: a theater in Edina, MN - the Edina 4 - is currently playing “Redacted”. The Edina 4 theater is located in the same block as 50th and France - an intersection where you will see protesters standing around with signs decrying Bush and the war in Iraq, (Bush = Hitler - the usual nonsensical crap.) But as much as they supposedly “support the troops and want them home” they won’t protest this movie? They condone this movie? It just proves that, in fact they do not support the troops in any way - they lie. As someone who moved here from northern VA, these are the same folks who walked out on “Fargo” because they couldn’t stand having a little fun poked at their God-awful accent - yet besmerching our troops is a-okay. You all just would not believe what tin-foil idiots I have to put up with here. It is driving me crazy.
AMBIGUITY, the conspiracy theorist’s greatest friend. If there is any doubt or alternative interpretation of data you can bet the nut jobs will take it and run with it.
Unfortunately there are far too many people out there lacking in the ability to think critically. They, the sheeple, will follow blindly where ever the pied pipers of conspiracy lead.
The sad truth — can I use that word? — is that current and past “leaders” have ignored plenty of warnings about terrorist activities and countries involved in them, and therefore people are justified in being suspicious.
What can you think when, for example, Saudi Arabia is actively involved in supporting those who seek to destroy us and GWB tells us they are our good buddies?
Sadly, when one “conspiracy” appears to have some basis in fact, too many people think everything else is a conspiracy.
Boomer,
Bingo! It is always about how the question is worded. This always brings me back to questions like:
Have you stopped beating your wife?
Is it possible the only sane, rational people in the US are on this forum??
If that’s true, lonewolf, then we’re truly the “cool” ones.
which we are anyway…
Yes, the polls are nuts, but why did they only interview liberals?
Which is why we can see through global warming as well.
I don’t believe most people think the government of this country is implicit in the 9-11 attacks. However, if it goes to their “talking points”, and bolsters their agenda…”Bush lied, people died”, those with serious cases of BDS, who carry grudges from the “stolen election of 2000″ and every other agenda supported by the President will indeed embrace these theories. They would believe anything negative that promotes their world view and causes America to look like the evil one. I happen to believe this flock of people won’t stop with Bush. Should someone anywhere close to the right of “left” be elected to the White House in ‘08, they will develop a whole new kind of syndrome. And their evil will be focused on a new target.
Their idiots. But you all are just as crazy with your “we can fight the war on terror and fund the enemy at the same time” / “we can fight a war with no new taxes (for the first time in history) and it won’t have any effect on the value of the dollar” / “we can play word games with torture and there’ll be no blowback from goodhearted people in the world.”
Iraq war hawks demonize the slightest oposition to their position, so when those who dare question aspect of the war get your scorn in return, this is how they react. That’s no excuse for their ignorance, but as John Adams said, facts are stubborn things.
And I’m an idiot for not knowing the difference between “they’re” and “their”!
As stated any poll can give you any answer you are looking for. It depends on how the question is asked and where the sampleing came from.
I kep reading how Colorado is now a huge democratic state. Yet the samples keep coming from Denver itself which is a cesspool of liberalism. However where I live I have a hard time inding anyone who says they are liberal.
I also find that conspirocy theories are like U.F.O.’s. If there is no substancial proof one way or anorther then people can conclude what ever fits thier personal belief.
An example of this would be Churchill, Means and other certain members of the AIM movement. They push the theory that Christopher Columbus in advance of sailing to the Carribean had preplanned the genocide and oppresive domination of the American Indian. Long before it was known that there were any peoples in the Americas. A theory that is not based on any fact or common sense.
I once for fun wrote a paper blaming the assaination of JFK on Jackie O. Based on the idea that the Onasis family wanted revenge for Kennedy Senior having them kicked out of America so that Sen. Joe Kennedy could control the bootlegging of alchol in the northeast during prohabition. A n interesting twist on ceretain facts but not really provable. Made for interestiung reading though and got me an A for creative writing.
Just goes to show that one can take any facts, twist them and misrepresent the conclusion.
This kinda of poll is the meat and potatoes of the truther squad. They seek to prove they are main stream by asking ambigious questions
If you ask me “Did the US do enough to prevent 9/11 from happening”" Id say no. Not because of some grand conspiracy but because we were all asleep before then
The question that needs to be asked is “Who did 9/11″ ? Then we would have a greater veiw of where the truthers stand
When you have a MSM willing to give air time to anyone who comes out with a weird idea for a buck and ratings matter, you’ll going to have people with limited education and intelligence believing anything they put out. Look at all the “we’re all going to die” scenarios on tv. It’s usually someone working on grant money or selling a new book who promotes it.
Many of these conspiracy theories have a government genius. Friends, this is giving this body of incompetence way to much credit. Natural phenomena has more chance of being correct than the action or inaction of our government. One need only accept we are at war with terrorist, we dare not even say at war with Fundamental Islamism for the sake of diversity, then accept Bush’s open border policy to see the roots of the next great conspiracy theory when something catastrophic is committed in the name of jihad.
No conspiracy intended just Bush stupid.
Ancient history perhaps, but there was a series of novels written by Allen Drury, starting with “Advise and Consent”. They chronicled the downfall of the US, engineered by the Libs. The enemy then was the Soviet Union, but the parallels to today’s situation are eerie.
On my site is this Cal Urvine study that shows by doctoring a few facts and photos you can change people’s perceptions on what really happened.

Well, that would explain the callus I have on my forehead from banging my head on my wall.
I never wanted to believe it. I wanted to give people the benefit of the doubt. I wanted to think the best of people. But nooooo, I can’t. There really are just that many idiots and morons in this country.
At least it really does explain what has been going on politically in this country the last 15 or so years. Now, how about suggestions on what to do to fix this problem? How do we change the climate of conspiricy theorists as fact based logic?
Could it be this was a poll taken from a sampling of the George Nori listener base? I wonder what the results would have been had the sampling come from the listenership of “The Savage Nation” or “The Dennis Miller Show”?
I believe Bush and his entire administration had warnings– but they responded with the “no credible threat” line.
And who can forget then National Security Advisor Condoleeza Rice who was “amazed” that anybody would think of flying airplanes into buildings (to paraphrase one of the more ridiculous reactions to 9/11 by a person who is now leading the charge to sell out Israel to the Arab jihadists in the Holy Land)?
The tinfoilers are part of a trend that is driven by superstition, anti-rationalistic thought, hyper-sentimentality over one’s feelings, and a blatant devaluation of contrarian opinion on any subject.
My assertion, and that is all it is, is based on what is happening in my life with family members and neighbors who all believe the same things and express them in lock step talking points. What is most disturbing is how I am treated.
It reminds me of the old days in Catholic school when a Protestant was looked at as a pariah who was lost and would never see God.
Today, this liberalism and anarchy mix (the essence of tin foiler hoo-doo)is a godless dogma with a lot of play with the young. It is as if the lack of God-centered living has been replaced by this nihilistic “everything sucks” “everything and everybody is corrupt” “everything is so bad I don’t even want to breed” dogmatic thinking.
I am powerless against it. I avoid people who think that way like the plague, even family (I don’t engage in any meaningful conversation).
All I can say is we have to continue to lead lives that have high value and purpose. And when this kind of crap raises its head in our communities, stomp it with our silence; because it thrives on getting feedback and nurture from everybody it encounters. Starve it. Deny it succor. Walk away. Teach your children. Be zealous against it and keep reading the contrarian view.
Defeatism = tinfoilism.
Don’t look this serpent in the eyes. You will get hypnotized.
No surprise here: I attend classes with the most ardent, uncompromising conspiracy theorists each day.
There is a mob in this country (Dhimmicrats) that are unpersuaded by facts.
They insist the Earth is melting.
They insist we are losing in Iraq.
They insist that killing the unborn is a right, while things destroyed by Humans in the ecosystems of the world are “murdered”.
They insist.
But that doesn’t mean they reason because they must deny wholesale that their endless computer modeling has large stretches of assumptions which simply cannot be tested.
We are forever hearing about how jet fuel cannot melt steel. Their computer models create a specious exception to the plain fact that metal is forged in heat and has a melting point far lower than their “imagination” can conjure.
We are forever hearing about how the world is going to starve to death because of overpopulation and lack of food. Their computer models cannot disprove the US’ ability to create at least 3 of the world’s largest economies out of its 50 states.
We heard for 20 years because of their computer models that the world was going to freeze out and kill us all. And now their models tell us we are all going to burn unless we follow the prescriptions of a Kyoto treaty that only the US has met (without signing the stinking treaty).
So for me the question becomes, how do we organize an educational movement that begins to dismantle these lying, taxing, stealing dogmas that are a threat to the USA from within?
We organized once against Communism and brought down the source of the infiltration. Now it is time to purge the infiltration.
What do we think about this grander purpose– something requiring us to think and do. I am the last person to discount being able to come together and rage against this relentless PR machine that keeps cranking out garbage.
But somehow, it must be taken down and destroyed. And that is up to us.
Many scientists have long been lamenting the lack of critical thinking ability in the general population. Proof of any allegation or claim should be demanded. And the more outlandish the claim the greater the burden of proof.
Of course, the democrats are well aware of this lack of critical thinking ability and use it to their advantage.
Hola ‘thurm: We live 1.8 miles from the north gate of the University. Ever need to cool out, our deck is a good way to clear the head and see forever how large this Earth is….beyond the conceptions of the c-theorists. Always welcome.
Bear1909
I’m with Boomer and Rick on this one. It all depends on the question asked.
“Ignored warning signs”? There were warning signs that were downplayed or put on the back burner. Like the FBI reports regarding flight lessons in Arizona, like the military project that combed the web in search of possible terror connections and like the information that pointed to a plan to use civilian aircraft that was even in the President’s daily intell briefings.
With that said, the use of civilian aircraft has been a relatively continuous “alert” for years on end. And let’s not forget that the FBI, the CIA and the military were not permitted to speak to one another or share information courtesy of Jamie Gorelick. Kind of hard to put a puzzle together when three different people have the pieces and don’t share them.
And let’s not forget what the 8 preceding years under the Clinton Administration did to our intelligence and military capabilities.
I think the way the question was asked leaves a lot of room for doubt as to the real meaning behind the responses.
For people to buy in to nut-fringe theories just shows their inability to think critically. There is nothing wrong with questioning something for which you have no answers, but to accept explanations from the left as “truths” is just unforgivable, and lazy.
Ah yes, Jamie Gorelick, the infamous “Wall of Separation” mastermind. And she sat there during the entire 911 panel with a perpetual smirk on her face. Idiot.
Or, shall I say…useful idiot.
It took less than four months for my son, who went away to Santa Cruz to college this year, and who was raised in a Conservative Republican environment, to approach his mother with truther “facts” and Questions” when she went to visit him a few weeks ago. Of course he used the Truther line of “I am not saying I believe it, I am just asking questions,” and then brought up the melting point of steel, the hole in the Pentagon and “lack of debris” etc. and all the other initiate B.S. that they begin with when first attempting to convert the unknowing to their religion of Liberalism and Conspiricy.
I had to actually wait about a week before I approached him on this, and then did so in an e-mail. My first reaction, of course, was one of “I thought your mother and I raised you better than that” and other such things, but was instead rational and precise. I presented all the facts, and showed him just a smattering of the things he would have to believe if he were to believe just one of the lies in which they would have you believe. I went down a very short list, then reminded him that while the conspiricy was created by two little boys in the basement of their mom’s house who had absolutley no knowledge or training in either firefighting, building construction in relation to firefighting, airline disasters or in general, steel, or basically in anything in which they were talking about, they were not even anywhere near the events of that day, yet I could put him in touch with people who were there before the attacks, during the attacks and who wer crawling through the Pile for weeks on end after the attacks. I could have him talk personally to those who survived it which would do more to clarify things than listening to some long haired hippie free-thinker who wouldn’t know his butt from a whole in the ground if he had a map and a Shrerpa guide at any time he wanted. I reminded him of who and what I was, and if he had any question regarding steel and it’s relation to direct flame impingement during a fire (steel gussets in a normal residence will fail, causing a roof to collapse after only 5 minutes of direct flame impingement) then all he had to do is ask me etc.
I then requested that he read the Popular Mechanics article and when he was done, please ask me any questions he had. Well, i got a respone back.
He responded saying that he was surrounded by Liberals everywhere. He said that he was raised in a Republican home and that it would take more than four months in Santa Cruz to turn him into a Hippie, but that the stuff he was presented with was presented in such a way that it was confusing. I told him that they do it in such a way that it is supposed to confuse. They make it sound llike it is all done with thought and scientific fact, when in fact, there is nothing of the kind and only use emotion and trickery in order to place doubt in weaker minded individuals. He hates the fact that everyone there automatically expects him to be a Liberal and feels like he has to hide it. I told him to be proud to be Conservative. He will end up getting better looking babes, and if nothing else, he will know they bathe and shave.
Needless to say, the talk we had brought us closer together, made him a better person and was done with love. No way could the same be said for the opposing camp.
And on another note…what documents was Sandy Burglar stuffing down his pants at the national security archives? I guess we’ll never know. Another one rolls over for the Clintons. We can assume, but not know for sure that he was covering up crucial info that Clinton had during his presidency. Information that could’ve exposed how WEAK they were on national security and terrorism.
Otherwise, WHY steal those papers? Why not make copies and leave the originals there? What’s with all the secrecy?
How’s THAT for conspiracy?
The Gorelick Maneuver Similar to the hymlick maneuver, except instead of forcing out a blockage, you create one by placing the hand over the mouth…
They’ve redefined critical thinking to mean any thinking that goes against the government, when it actually means using reason and logic to examine a point - generallly from a point of scientific skepticism. Liberal educators and propagandists want to teach under the guise of critical thinking, and rationalize that you can’t think critically unless from a politically correct approach, (they reason because political correctness basically erases the any bias or “bigotry”.) That in and of itself negates any kind of debate a person might have about political correctness, because you have to accept their “intellectual” definition of political correctness and its validity instead of actually using real critical thinking skills to debate it.
I wonder if the poll results are “nuanced”. For example, people might have said they failed to connect the dots, such as the FBI agent who found an aviation student a person of interest (not for anything specific) but the higher ups and/or the CIA ignored him because at the time they had turf wars where they didn’t share information. The pollsters then say that person believed the government “ignored a specific warning” when it’s not what the person believed at all.
Hey Ret…I had a similar conversation with my daughter - senior in Marine Biology at Oregon State - regarding the whale population, and the ocean - which is going to turn into an abysmal cesspool in the next 3 years because of Republicans. Her profs like to say how “we Americans” destroy the ocean, then site statistics which reference the practices of China and the USSR (former Soviet Union). The point is, fortunately, some of these kids have critical thinking parents, and enough of their own conservative backgrounds, to see through the secular garbage. And as she put it so eloquently…”conservatives are the original conservationists anyhow”. How true. So sad how the cards are stacked against our children - and our country - in the Universities.
As to the Kennedy assassination..there is ample proof that certain members of the government did know about the plots to kill him in Chicago and Tampa. There is also evidence to show that RFK hindered the investigation in order to keep C-Day (AMWORLD) a secret.
As for 9/11…in the words of Bubba with his finger wagging and his one eye closed: “How dare you”…
That is the second dumbest conspiracy theory I have ever heard. It is topped by the “we never landed on the moon” conspiracy!
Scott Peck in his book “People of the Lie” suggests that intentional causing of confusion is a trait of narcissists who he believes are evil. Confusion is the only tactic available to a narcissist who is faced with someone interested in the truth.
A search relating to New York Post’s article has me puzzled. It might be based upon an August 2, 2006, Scipps Howard News Service article. I also searched Ohio University’s site for this survey in vain.
I kid you not.
I do not know if the Post failed to vet the story or if I just can’t find the supporting Scripps Howard article or O.U. poll. If you can find either, please post it here.
This is the 8/2/2006 article I’m referring to its text differs slightly with my reading of the Post:
My mistake.
Found it:
Polls as a rule show exactly the results that the party who commissioned it wants it to show… I wonder who paid for this one?
The Democrats, through their front organizations masquerading as “teachers’ unions,” are the ones who are behind the decline in students’ critical thinking ability.
The donkeys need voters whose opinions and sense of reality can be molded by cliches, slogans and canards repeated ad nauseam until they become “common knowledge”; and whose attention span is limited by what can fit on a bumper sticker.
And the teachers’ unions deliver.
The problem with decades of dumbing-down American education in the name of making more donkey-friendly voters is that it is graduating whole generations of Americans with so little regard for scientific reasoning, logic and evidence that they accept as “truth” foolish notions that a properly educated person would be too embarrassed to admit to even thinking - while expecting others to prove a negative in response.
We’re seeing more of the fruits of a system that rewards mental laaziness and avoidance mechanisms like paranoia, psychic displacement and projection with “respectability.” As Michelle said, the fringe thus becomes the “center.”
But so deeply in thrall to their belief systems are such people that I’m afraid the only thing that’ll bring them back will be another massive attack on American soil - only this time with a Democrat president in the White House, so it’ll be OK then to do something about it.
Good question. The answer is the Scripps Howard Foundation.
Please note the difference between reports made by the NY Post and Scripps Howard News Service. The Post’s article states two-thirds of Americans “believe” the federal government had warnings about 9/11 but decided to ignore them while Scripps Howard used the words two-thirds “think it is possible.”
While still disturbing, I think the Post was over the top in its reporting of this.
No matter how look at the numbers is it any wonder the foolishness of man-made global warming has taken root in our daily conversations?
Sergeant Tim:
Thanks for pointing this out… big difference between the 2.
I kinda like the Post, but this is a bit of a distortion.
I guess I should find out how the questions were worded before I commit to moving to Wyoming. Maybe I should just move there anyway since I always seem to use it as a solution for when I just can’t take the lunacy anymore.
Unfortunately too many Americans believe celebrities and other nutjobs’ hysterical anti-American rants without making any effort to research the subject. Altogether too many are just like Whoopi….go with their feelings and ignore the facts. Hate of Bush wins over reality.
Gerald Posner made the point re JFK that conspiracy-mongers are often people who feel so powerless they need to explain frightening but seemingly random events via hidden causes. Happenstance or chaos are just too hard for them to deal with. How much of this is cultural and how much of it is hard-wired into our primitive psyches I must leave to others to speculate.
P.S. to my earlier comment: In fairness, plenty of people attribute all sorts of events to the will of a purposeful God or some other higher power. Does this make them conspiracy nuts?
#57 Seth Halpern
No. The God or other higher power people turn to in such cases is generally considered to be benign. Taking comfort in a spiritual belief that there is a great unknown purpose to tragic events is far different from a paranoid belief that the government is out to get us.
Many people believe tornadoes are God’s will. So why do they run from them?
#59 Marshall Russ
An old man once made a remark to me I have often pondered. He said “Religion only goes so deep with anybody.”
backwoods conservative #60
Religion yes but, I beleive you better have a relationship God deep in your heart to stand against what this country may be in for.
OOPs. that’s I believe you better have a relationship WITH God…sorry
I remember (about 25 years ago or so) my grandfather telling me to buy stock in Reynolds. Wish I’d listened to him…
I am just amazed at how many people doubt what they saw on 9-11 with their own eyes. this is something that was happening in real time on television live. People watched breathless either on the streets in New York and Washington or in their homes or, like me, in the fire house and saw everything unfold right in front of their face. Now, with the passage of time, a couple of punks come out and the weaker minds say, “Yeah, I can see the government doing just that: forgetting completely everything they saw, as if they only saw it in reruns or read it in a book. People are just plain stupid. Reminds me of the line in “Men In Black”. “A person is smart. People are panicky, stupid and manipulative”. If ever that was true, it is in all he conspiracy theories which have become all the rage over the last 7 years. And it really has been since Bush was elected that these theories have become more truth than theory, and have been coming out in droves. So yes, the callous on my forhead grows bigger and bigger and the dent on my wall grows in propotion to it as I keep banging my head repeatedly into it the more I read or hear about new theories or find out new and improved ways for people in this country to defy reasons why we are the greatest country the world has ever known.
While I think that some people certainly go overboard, it’s very clear to me that more world events are governed more by “conspiracy” than most of us are willing to accept.
Just think about Clinton Inc. Nothing relevant to them EVER happens except as part of a plan. Even more sinister forces exist in this world that make sure that the course of time follows their purposes.
I believe there are non-elected extra-governmental forces at play in all aspects of our society, government and religious institutions. Everything plays out very neatly with soap opera-like characters. Everyone has taken their sides and sticks to the facts as they know them. Very convenient for the plutocrats who triangulate above the peons, calculating their next moves to further strengthen their virtual grip around everyone’s lives.
bear1909, RetFireman, et al: I hear you. I am a college professor, and at the risk of repeating myself, I tell you that America is in much greater danger from the cultural Marxists than from the jihadists. It is not a coincidence that the anti-life totalitarian left has taken up common cause with the anti-life totalitarian jihadists. How far back in time do they want to drag us? Maoist China, Stalinist Russia, Nazi Germany - Muhamad’s Arabia - the human sacrifices of pre-Columbian America? How far does their death cult extend?
At the prompting of Pamela Geller - http://atlasshrugs2000.typepad.com/ - I am reading Atlas Shrugged. I believe that we are approaching an 1861 moment. If the left hypnotizes enough people in America, then the best of us - the real patriots - may have to follow John Galt’s example and find some contiguous red counties in the heartland, and live there for many years with barrels pointing outward.
To stave off that horror - and to better arm ourselves intellectually - we need to wrest back control of our educational institutions. Although I have a Ph.D. and studied philosophy, I am only now (in middle age) studying John Locke, Adam Smith and Edmund Burke. Why are students fed everything through the lens of Marxism - multiculturalism, diversity, class conflict, racial conflict, sexual conflict, oppression, exploitation, grievance, confrontation - when we have such life-affirming foundations?
I (a traditional Jew) am getting together like-minded friends and colleagues (Jewish, Catholic and Protestant) here and in Washington to fight back and remind America of the magnificent heritage we’ve thrown on the refuse heap. Let’s reclaim our heritage!
When it comes to the 62% believing feds ignored warnings, you can include me in this way - government ineptness…..
Able Danger, Gorelick, wall between intelligence agencies, entrenched bureaucrats within state department/CIA not wanting to do anything hard, Clinton cutting the military and intelligence agencies to dangerous levels…..
Our younger son is in college in VA and is about to go
ballistic on the profs and students. He had to endure
an history class that was just about America’s inhumanity to blacks..nothing else. He kept asking
when do we study (whatever?) He was told that this
particular prof had written the book used all through
the system and this is what he would study. That just
about did it until he wound up in a class that was going to suspend the “old” curriculum and study the
wonderful tenure of Slick Willy in the White House. He opted out of that one. Then he got into it with
another prof who has a terminal case of BDS. He
told one entire class that they were just plain nuts
and then walked out. I don’t know how he will make
it but he will. We raised him to think for himself but
he is having a really hard time with these goofballs.
He and I were discussing polls and how they tailor
their questions and he mentioned how fast some of
these questions are asked and how slowly most
people think and respond. He decided that most
people just say the first thing that pops into their
heads because they don’t want the pollsters to think they’re dumb.
I said that I think the lefties are so socially inept
that they will do or say anything if it makes them
feel they are part of the “in” crowd.

Please report everything you’ve witnessed to them, as well as your local newspapers, broadcast media, legislators - and the trustees. Ask them what the heck kind of school they are running. If it’s a state school, you are paying your tax dollars to support the destruction of your own country. Tell ‘em you’re mad as hell and not going to take it anymore! Demand answers. When are the students going to be taught what they came there to learn?!

Just remember:
Exactly half of the population is of below-average intelligence.
(This little fact explains a lot.)
And with half the country now voting Democrat as witnessed by the last two Presidential Elections, you are right, that DOES explain alot and shows proof that Democrats are all of below average intelligence. Thanks for that little reminder.
It explains everything. Kerry, Clinton, Obama, ruthers, o’Donnell, celebrities as political pundits and experts…
As far as ignoring specific warnings about 9/11, I’ve always felt that Osama Bin Laden could’ve hand delivered the entire plan on 9/10 and no one would have acted. Not because anyone was negligent, and absolutely not because they wanted it to happen, but because an attack like that just couldn’t happen here.
Now yes, I’m exagerating for effect, but I do think we were blind from the top down, and simply believed that the unthinkable was also the undoable. 9/11 ended our national childhood, just as Pearl Harbor did 60 years earlier.
Liberals want us to think and act like children. They succeeded in the last half of the 20th century. We can’t let them succeed again.
And what warning did we have? “osama Bin Laden is planning on taking some planes and attacking us.” Well la dee da. Did we have dates? Did we have air lines? Did we have how many? No. So, what were we supposed to do? Start taking anyone of Middle-Eastern decent and pulling them out of the lines, scrutinizing them down to the finest detail, strip searching them, making them answer to full and complete background checks etc. until such time as the hijackers were disconvered, IF they were discoverd? And just what type of outcry would THAT have caused from the Liberals? How many cries of racism and racial profiling would we have heard? As far as this warning that Condi had received from Clarke, big fat hairy deal. Everyone in the entire world knew he was trying to hit us. It was no sevcret. the only ones who seemed to not know about it and not care was the previous administration, but without exact names, times, places, faces, evets etc., then the information that was there was exactly what Condi called it. Anyone who claims otherwise is nothing but a ocer-reactionary fool who really doesn’t know what they are talking about. As for the Clintons and anyone on their staff complaining that they told the Bush administration that UBL was planning something and that Bush did nothing about it, let me remind you that the hijackers trained here for about 5 years. they came and went from here with impunity, had expired visas etc., went to our flight schools all under Clinton’s watch and the Clintons DID NOTHING. To pass the blame off to the Bush administration after being in office just over 8 months is not only unfair, but unrealistic. The cabinet positins had not even been completely filled out yet, and the silverware had not been unpacked, nor all the “W” keys on the computers removed from the walls and replaced on the computers. It is completely disengenuous of Richard Clarke to pass the buck, but also foolish of Bush to have kept so many of Clintons appointments after he took office.
TXRose, I feel your pain. We went through the exact same thing with our son at Portland State.
Another question:
If we knew that on 9-11-01, that 4 planes over the continental United States were going to be hijacked at some point during those 24 hours by 19 men, and that was all the information we had…what would we have been able to do? Would we ground all air craft? What good would that have done? They would have just moved the day. Alerted everyone? Again, just moved the day AND caused a nation wide panic. Shot down the planes? You would kill the passenger…American citizens, and who knows how many on the ground as well as destroying God knows what else on the ground. What would we have been able to do had we known exactly the day and the event that was to take place?
Short of knowing the exact planes, the exact people that were participating, the exact time of the flights, the exact means of the hijackings, there was absolutely NOTHING we could have done to prevent the hijackings and subsequent attacks from occurring.
It is very, very easy to sit back, especially over 6 years later, and arm-chair quarterback this now, saying what could have and should have been done on that day. However, the truth is, if everyone will remember, that there was wheer pandemonium going on that morning. No one knew what the Hell was going on. Bush sat there in that class room as he had aides in National Security scurrying around trying to find out just what the Hell had and was happening. Not that he wasn’t doing anything. look in his eyes…you can see a man that was deep in thought, wanting to get up and do something, but was waiting to hear what was happening. Whether he was in that classroom or the Oval Office, he had to wait for the people “In The know” to brief him on the latest. Cheney had been taken to a secure location, as was Bush, so that the Government would survive, which is what the hijackers DIDN’T want to have happen. NO ONE KNEW ANYTHING. It was something that no scenario, outside of a Tom Clancy fictional story had even dreamed of. To say anyone knew anything ahead of time is the same as claiming that the Easter Bunny is the true Pope in Rome.
In the message of number 62 it is correct that you have ot have a relationship with God and not a religion. A relationship shows that you know the Living God who is Jesus and number 62 is correct when he says we are in rought times ahead. Its not going to get any better soon because we are in the last days. look at the near universal hatred of Israel
How interesting that there is not one Truther that will ever come forward EVER to answer those questions I pose. I have asked them numerous times before and have NEVER received an answer to them. Yet they will go on and on about how Bush knew and Bush was in on it etc. My how telling.
