“Posterizing” the Democrat Party contest: Announcing the finalists
Submissions for the michellemalkin.com “posterizing the Democrat Party” photo shop/graphic art contest–parodying the Huffington Post’s “posterizing the modern GOP” campaign–have poured in the past few days. Many of you did clever send-ups of the text-based HuffPo posters designed by “Got Milk” ad guru Rich Silverstein. Many others of you sent your favorite Dem-mocking photoshops. Several of you sent in fresh new, excellent designs. Thanks to everyone who e-mailed/blogged their entries. It was great fun sifting through all of them over the Thanksgiving holiday.
Here are the finalists. Hammers and sickles were popular. So were motivational poster spoofs. Weigh in on your favorite. I’ll announce a winner tomorrow. Without further ado, the nominees are…

Terry Barkers all the faces of evil is freaky deeky but I like it. They all should get a book.
I vote for Christopher Raab (just because it’s still deer season here in Wisconsin).
Sean Fousheé, Combined Arts Media, Inc. His Democratics Backwards America says it all.
Sticky Notes and Coffee Shark.. with Matt Aho as an honorable mention..
so difficult to decide.. Now I know how Hilliary Clinton feels
Can’t pick just one
sticky Notes..
BRAVO to all!
So well did they make the point.
Very excellent entries! I think Liz P. gets the nod though…
… with a very close second to Matt Aho…
My vote goes to Matt Aho “Haven’t we had enough of the first amendment?”
That “cut and run” one — um, did I miss something or wasn’t Richard Nixon a Republican? So in the spirit of honoring the truth, I vote for that one. I wish I were more computer-art-design savvy, or I’d change the text to “this is the way we fund Iran, fund Iran, fund Iran, this is the way we fund Iran, we’re the GOP no oil tax.” But I can’t.
I’m torn between Coffee Shark and Matt Aho. What the heck I’ll go with Coffee Shark and his expose of “FEAR.” Kind of says it all for me.
They’re all great, but I love the “deer in the headlight” one.
Bonsai Billy the Democrat controlled Congress defunded the South Vietnamese Government as a personal poke in the eye to President Nixon, resulting in the death of millions of innocent people in Southeast Asia. This was considered one of their brightest successes from the 1970s. They still relive it over and over hoping to do the same to Iraq and Afghanistan.
I kept clicking on “The Democrats Core Beliefs:” wondering when the rest would load. Then it was clear to me…….I have not been fully enlightened yet, or I would immediately know that there was nothing to follow the semi colon. I thought I was very informed, but I still have a way to go.
Enjoyed them all!
I like the one from “Coffeeshark” Oh, I also like the Kenny Hitt one too.
All are great, but I looked for original and since I had never seen the blame America Last before….The Few The Proud The lonely says it all.
My vote goes to David Lunde. William P gets the runner up!
(by the way Bonsai Billy, it was the democrap controlled congress that cut off funds to continue the fight in Vietnam. Nixon didn’t surrender, the cowardly democarps did).
I think it has to be Sean Fousheé’s piece. Simple, right to the point.
Thanks CoachKen, and don’t forget! Semper Infidel!
I knew it had to be there but I had to squint down on Mark S’s to see the hammer and sickle. I like it.
Finalists: Terry’s Evil eyes.. Liz P.,& Sticky, Although the Core Values is an instant classic.
Excellent!
Would it be possible to get a PDF once the winner is chosen?
I liked the Matt Aho poster. The red shirts really make it.
Second place is the deer in the headlights, graphically perfect with a clear and easy message.
Honorable mention is the pinko semper infadel. Nice message and catchy phrase but needs work on the graphics.
Thanks to all for your hard work.
Great stuff. I’d buy a couple of those if they were in the store.
Threebsly! The rest are great, but this really stands out.
I vote for:
Liz P., Matt Aho and CoffeeShark. If I had to choose, it’d be Liz P.
But they’re all good, and the decision was really difficult.
My husband votes for oldgeorge.
From threebsly, with the “They Think We’re Stupid” imbedded - this one is just great and gets my vote.
First runner-up - The dem’s core beliefs followed by lotsa blank space.
Great job, everyone!
How about Hillary Clinton’s core beliefs. It’s your money and she wants to decide how it gets spent. For the common good or for your own good, bottom line it has nothing to do with Small Govt and the Free Market. We the People? Evidently it takes many people to make up the revenue but only one woman to decide, how to spend the revenue.
These plans are not about a social safety net, it is about making all Americans dependent on the Federal Govt. You know, the same Federal Govt., that has been doing such a bang up job up till now.
http://schotlinepress.wordpress.com/2007/10/12/hillary-clintons-spend-o-meter/
Some really excellent entries…
I particularly felt drawn to Liz P’s..
because so many of my ‘pollicially correct’ friends don’t understand what’s ‘between the lines’.
“Fear” by CoffeShark really does the trick. The photography alone says it all, but add the title and the brief statement and it really packs a punch.
I did like the clever use of the Hammers and Sickles, though.
Oh my, they are all so fantastically wonderful - really great.
Love that Slublog’s goes to the tune of “I’ve been everywhere”
cheers to all the talent!!! I love them all!
I’d have to go with Sticky Notes. Strikes a deep cord with me on several levels.
The eyes have it! Terry Barker’s entry reminds me that people you know and are friends with can have a very liberal mind behind the eyes. Even if they are smiling. A liberal mind that reasons we can continue or start policies and programs that have failed or doomed to failure before they start. From immigration to foreign policy to domestic and tax policy they think differently. Liberal friends are hard to keep. Even if they have smilin’ eyes.
Make that lyin’ eyes.
All are very good. Terry Barker’s muti-eyed face sticks out–it kinda convinces me that the eyes really are the window to the soul. Does the mouth on this beast belong to Ted Kennedy?
All very nice.
Bonsai, while Boomer and Zorro make a good point, that particular entry is a verse from a Billy Joel song. It’s good, but my pick is the very first.
Kevlaur
Kevlaur: I was referring to the “Old George” entry. Poysonally I can’t stand Billy Joel (though “Keeping the Faith” is kinda cute).
Leaving the revisionist history aside, I wish people would respond more to my other point. Whenever I mention the irony that the war’s biggest boosters are the ones so adamant in favor of funding the enemy (their sole, meek offering is to open ANWAR for drilling, which doesn’t bother me except the effect would be modest and, more importantly, delayed). My parents used to talk about the sacrifices their families made during World War II, which is why they were the greatest generation and ours is the greediest.
Kudos to all, but fear (CoffeeShark) and loathing (Jacob Bodnar) leaves me at a loss (Patrick S.) for words.
Kudos to all.
My vote: Matt Aho and Kenny Hitt. Tie.
Patrick S - The Democratic Party’s Core Beliefs. He needs to change it from democrat”ic” to democrat though.

F A N T A S T I C - job , I highly doubt the Democrats have even close to the talent displayed by the ARTISTS of these posters.
Some of them even turned my stomach!
I really can’t pick just one but I do like the built in music that comes with the poster by Slublog
Ingenious concealed by threebsly. ”
“
The more I look at them, the more I want to give kudos to one in particular, like the one by Sean Fousheé, Combined Arts Media, Inc.: , but like I said, I can’t pick just one.
So hard to pick just one, but for coherency, simplicity of design and a strong central theme, I’m gonna have to give the nod to the first one by Kenny Hitt. With second and third going to Liz P. and Matt Aho.
William P is the winner IMHO.
Helicopters on rooftops: that’s the cRATS dream come true.
Since the invasion of Iraq, the cRATS have been trying to reenact all the rituals of the Vietnam era. They never tire of recounting tales of their noble actions back in the 60s and 70s. Neither should we.
William P.’s entry makes it clear exactly where their leadership will eventually take us.
Matt Aho’s casual magnet is a hoot.
But who is to Carter’s left, our right?
Oh man, that’s funny.
Murtha?
OMG, Michelle! HOW are you gonna pick a winner??!!!?
My choices (NOT in any particular order!):
Sticky Notes
Sean Fousheé
Liz P.
Matt Aho #1 (1st Amendment)
My Honorable Mention choices:
threebsly (great “hidden” message)
Terry Barker (implies “We’re watching you”)
Mark S.
Christopher Raab
As a former (retired) professional graphic designer, I have to say they are ALL good! It was extremely hard to pick favorites. Probably a good thing I’m not on the official “picking” team.
Loved the white space and BlameAmericaLast. All are amazing.
I am hard pressed to believe (knock on wood) that miss pricipled conservative or do i mean straussian neoconservative statist christian demagogue is actually criticing the Democrats of being “Casually Anti-Semitic”. Ladies and Gentlemen give her a hand. By her standard somebody who criticizes Israel foreign policy hates jewish people. Hithero, what about her criticizism of arab states. Does that make miss Neo-Con a racist. wow!! please ponder on that question.
Sincerly, a Conserned atheist/liberaltarian.
Did think Murtha at first, but murtha is usually much more mirthless. Instead some old, rich, white industrialist? Not that there’s anything wrong with that. Could be Jim Moran as much as Murtha. Man, I have no idea.
Ok. Here are my picks, in order:
1. Liz P. (read between the lines)
2. Sean Fousheé ((backwards America)
3. Matt Aho #1 (1st Amendment)
4. Sticky Notes (all issues)
Honorable Mention:
1. Mark S. (hammer & sickle)
2. threebsly (great “hidden” message)
3. Terry Barker (implies “We’re watching you”)
4. Christopher Raab (beautiful, but perhaps way too classy for dems?)
I also really liked Patrick S’s “Democratic Party’s Core Beliefs.”
Hint to Patrick S:
I would make two changes and re-submit.
1. It’s “Democrat Party” (not democratIC)
2. Add “VOTE 2008″ in RED, at the bottom of the huge white space.
I can’t rank them, but I like Matt Aho’s 1st amendment best.
I didn’t catch the hammer and sickle at first-had to look at them from a distance-but it’s interesting that it was included in three of the word/name montages.
Good work to all!
Oh-almost forgot! Special mention for ‘Got BDS’-love the RuPaul inclusion!
straussian neoconservative
BWHAHAHAHAHAHA!
Please. If you are going to reveal yourself as an ignoramus, might I suggest you do it in a venue where people wouldn’t be able to nail you for idiotic constructs like “Straussian Neoconservative?”
Those are two seperate schools of thought, neither one having anything to do with the other - something you would know if you read something besides liberal blogs and Mad Magazine.
statist christian demagogue
If you’re talking about Malkin, all I’ve got to say is…
BWHAHAHAHAHAHAHA
She’s a statist like I’m a vegetarian - and please pass the prime rib, don’t spare the cow.
And your “demagogue” charge is equally interesting. Malkin is not running for office nor is she seeking power of any kind.
To your mind, it might be more accurate to say that she “demagogues issues.” But Michelle herself as a demagogue? Not hardly.
Btw - I wish more “Conserned atheist/liberaltarians” would comment here. At least the ones who could spell.
Liberals - Too stupid to know they are stupid…how sad is that!
Yes, it’s Murtha. I need a pic of him smiling and you don’t find THAT too often. I think he might be a bit younger there too. Anyway, thanks for all the kind words about my entries. I really liked all the images. Such talent, even if we don’t know how to “peel the onion” a la Pat Schroeder.
Matt
These are great. Much more imagination than those from the dark side.
I was disappointed that one of them had Janet Reno >> I guess Elian Gonzalez and Branch Davidians was close. But remember Janet Reno took full responsibility. The consequences of which was a… a.. um.. nothing.
OT: Has anyone looked at Drudge lately? It may get ugly for Hillary.
Tough decision. I vote for Matt Aho.
I gather you’re talking about the Times of London front page story about Hillary?
Of course, they’ll blame that on the vast right wing conspiracy, as it is owned by Rupert Murdoch’s organization, News International in London, a subsidiary of News Corp.
Good Lord. I’m glad I didn’t compete in this one. Those are brilliant!
Stuff like that will just help Hillary. It turns people off and makes her a victim. Just like the off the wall accusations about Bill bounced off him. There are plenty of things that are true and verifiable to use to go after Bill and Hillary. Anti-Clinton people need to stay away from the garbage.
That being said, Hillary probably ok’d the article thinking it would make people feel sorry for the poor, little, picked on female candidate. Margaret Thatcher would have made mincemeat of Hillary.
My vote goes to Kenny Hitt, Scarlet Eye. Second place to Liz P.; Honorable Mention to Coffee Shark’s Fear…That classic leer of Billy-Jeff…! Yes, they’re all good, hard to choose.
Bonsai: I misunderstood. I’m guessing you mean we are funding the Saudis. While we do pour billions into their coffers, they pour billions right back into ours with defense purchases. And, their economy is terrible (what Arab nation’s is?) so the exchange is, to me, probably a little unfair for them - they buy an awful lot.
And, as far as sacrifice, on the whole, no - Americans don’t feel the need to sacrifice because the war is being fully funded from our awesome powerhouse of an economy. Which was kicked into high gear because of the tax cuts.
ANWAR? The jury is still out. And, since we import 15 to 20% of our oil from the Middle East, not really relevant at this point. I say open it up.
Kevlaur
I’d love to participate but I think some would find it tasteless.
#1 Liz P. (read between the lines)
#2 Sean Fousheé (dems = backward American)
#3 tied
Christopher Raab (deer/headlights)
Patrick S. (Dem hollow core)
All are super but Liz P. gets my vote - reading between the line of buzzwords democrats use to describe their policies - the destruction of this country as we know it. Very chilling and ominous.
I like CoffeeShark’s entry. We all feel it.
2nd place: Jacob Bodnar.
Honorable mention: Liz P.
Liz P. has my vote that kinda raps it all up in a nutshell.
These are all sooooo goooood.
I’d go with Patrick’s Core Beliefs but the dems won’t get it: “White space. Is that some kind of supremacy thing?” Out comes the race card…
So, my vote is for Matt’s Haven’t we had enough of the first amendment.
I just can’t decide! They’re all too good for me to choose just one?
I can only imagine that the ones you had to narrow these down from was quite a task, Michelle.
It’s really hard to choose just one. They all did a great job.
Have to give it to CoffeeShark though. Words weren’t even necessary. That “FEAR” is what will keep all of us awake at night.
“(by the way Bonsai Billy, it was the democrap controlled congress that cut off funds to continue the fight in Vietnam. Nixon didn’t surrender, the cowardly democarps did).” Zorro #17
In point of fact, the prohibition of expenditures in Vietnam occurred in December 1974, after Nixon left office. When the North invaded just after the law went into effect (and this was not a coincidence, BTW), Ford pleaded with the Democrats to allow resupply of ammunition and spare parts. The Democrats demurred.
As a result, nearly 3 million people were brutally murdered in Southeast Asia in the following years. 2 million Vietnamese were sent to “reeducation camps” and another million or so fled as “boat people.”
The photograph I used is iconographic of the BETRAYAL of trust the Democratic Party inflicted on the people of South Vietnam. The spending cut-off by the Democrats was the “green light” for North Vietnam to launch their final invasion of the south.
I sent in an alternate entry. The same photo but with the legend: “We’re Democrats, you can trust us with Iraq. Just ask these people.” Both convey the same message: The Democrats will sell out our allies and ultimately America itself. That is the heart and soul and end goal of the Democratic Party of today.
These are brilliant!
These are all excellent! Proves that not all great artists today are feckless liberals.
If I had to choose, I would say Liz P., as her text right next to the “real” text is wonderful.
Congrats, all.
Thanks for all the comments on my (CoffeeShark) “photoshop”, which was really just a picture and text. I did enjoy making it. I still laugh at Bill’s face in that photo.
Lots of great entries! I love Spillane’s Bumper Sticker BDS entry. It sums up the Crazy of that side very well.
The other entries, more applicable to the original Huffy post, were very thought-provoking and well done, like Aho, Liz P. and threebsly.
