[...] Michelle Malkin wrote a terrific piece. Short and sweet and to the point: Well, we will see what Romney is made of in the aftermath of this kerfuffle. Will he back away from supporting common-sense national security profiling? Or will he continue to speak hard truths about what’s needed to win the war on jihad at home? [...]

Fair enough feebie...thanks for the response. I'm fairly certain that many here don't share your view, however. BTW, I realize that you probably don't much care for the "MM.com cyber version of me", but for what it's worth, I really appreciate the generally rational and civil nature of what you have to say on this site, especially when addressing those with whom you disagree.

Bhishma...your right...the 2 best candidates to help America out of this mess get no coverage either from inside or out of their own party. What does that tell you about the Republican Party?

I would really like to know his position on this too. We already enough problems with Muslims of questionable loyalty infiltrating the FBI and CIA all we need is another security risk directly advising at the Cabinet level of Government. If anything we need to reduce the size of the Cabinet down to maybe the size of a small chest or dresser draw. It would be a great way to start curtailing the runaway government spending of our stolen incomes.

With all the grave shortcomings possessed by all the GOP candidates, this is the sort of thing people are paying attention to? What a silly story.

I'm seeing two contradictory reactions on the right. One is that Romney had better announce that no Muslim will ever get in the door of his administation. The other is that he'd better repudiate any sort of religious bigotry.

On November 28th, 2007 at 12:00 am, dakine said:
feebie, are you saying that a person is unqualified to serve as a Cabinet member solely based on the fact that he or she practices Islam? Follow-up question: Do you personally know any Muslims?

Dakine - Rusty's comment confused me...it happens. No i am not saying that. And yes, my best friend is persian....and his mother loves to feed me....yummy. But they are not the fanatical practicing Muslims and do speak out about their religions good points as well as their faults.

They are not big fans of the extremists.

You read Rusty's posting and articulate it better...perhaps I then can do the same....

Here's a solution: A Muslim candidate for a Cabinet post will be water boarded first to determine where his or her loyalties lie.

No charge for that advice to the Romney campaign.

This seems to be spin. Romney did not say he would not accept advice from Muslims--he said he saw no need for a " Cabinet" position for such an advisor.
I think Ijaz is praying--and working very hard--for Hillary to become president. If Ijaz is so worked up about this issue he should now ask Hillary the same question.

http://firstread.msnbc.msn.com/archive/2007/11/27/482645.aspx
NBC reports that : "A search of FEC records, finds that a Mansoor Ijaz has given $23,000 to Democratic candidates and committees from 1997 to 2000, including $2,000 to Hillary Clinton’s 2000 Senate run and $15,000 to the Democratic Senatorial Campaign Committee."

According to Brigette Gabriel (Because They Hate), a Muslim that is sworn in on the Koran instead of Bible has permission to lie because the Koran is #1. This has already happened (in MN). IMHO, not good.

Feebie, I mentioned women because they are incredibly underrepresented on SCOTUS, the Cabinet, and Capitol Hill. I fear that if Romney wins and he selects a woman to his Cabinet that this quote will come back to haunt him. Same for any underrepresented group of people.

This country doesn't have that many Muslims, Hindus, American Indians, etc. Should they all be disqualified because the demographics don't match up? Because that's what Romney said. And that's despicable.

Is he going to appoint a Catholic, or Protestant, or a Scientologist to his cabinet. Why worry about one religion being represented and not all the others.

I don't think anyone should be excluded as long as they go through the vetting process just like everyone else. THAT should have been Mitt's response but instead he stuck his foot in his mouth. But, if that's what he thinks, then he's ok to say it, but some voters may not like it. But some will think "woohoo!"

Most of the current field are feckless, spineless and unwilling to make a concrete stand except for: more of the same old stuff. The conservatism flavor-of-the-day variety of politics has passed its born on date. How much more deck chair rearranging are we going to settle for? Cutting taxes vs. eliminating them? Reducing bureaucracy vs. eliminating complete agencies? Personally, I'm tired of the media template and the way we're served-up our candidates. More than a year out all we've seen is a two person race for each party. It's pathetic.
