More illegal alien drunk drivers I’m not supposed to mention

Last week, an illegal alien in the desert rescued a boy who was stranded after his mother died in a car crash. Yes, it was a touching story. No, it doesn’t mean we should hand over citizenship to every illegal alien who does a good deed. Left-wing e-mailers touted the open-borders AP story, demanding that I cover it and accusing me of being a heartless racist.
But why should I cover it? Open-borders sympathizers dominate the MSM. The AP story was carried far and wide. I cover stories that provide counterbalance–stories that do not fit the shamnesty-promoting narrative of the AP, Washington Post, New York Times, LA Times, etc., etc., etc. Hysterical opponents interpret my emphasis on the negative public safety and national security consequences of lax immigration enforcment as some sort of blanket indictment of all illegal aliens. No. It’s an indictment of immigration enforcement officials at all levels of government who refuse to do their jobs and Washington politicians who let them get away with it for fear of crossing Big Business and the multiculti mob.
Here’s a new story of an illegal alien drunk driver in Boone, NC, that I’m not supposed to mention:
An illegal immigrant is accused of driving drunk in Boone over the Thanksgiving holiday and plowing into a sport utility vehicle, killing a man inside.
Boone police said Juan Manuel Juarez Reyes slammed into the rear of a Lexus SUV that was about to turn from Highway 105 onto Poplar Hill Drive shortly before 11 p.m. Friday. The SUV was skidded 250 feet, hitting a Watauga County deputy’s patrol car. The occupants of the SUV were trapped inside their vehicle but the deputy was not hurt.
The driver, Sallie Ellis Newell, and passenger Jacqueline Elizabeth Newell were taken to the Watauga County Medical Center where they were treated in released. But Brian Alan Newell and Andrew Russell Newell, who was in the back passenger-side seat, were flown to Johnson City Regional Medical Center.
Andrew Newell, 22, died at the hospital. His father remains in critical condition.
Family members said the Newells were returning from a Thanksgiving trip to South Carolina and were only a quarter-mile from home.
Authorities said Monday that Juarez Reyes was caught in the country by Border Patrol agents in 2002 and was sent back to Mexico. They aren’t sure when he re-entered the United States.
Police say he was speeding and drunk when the crash happened.
And here’s another from Oakland, Calif.:
An Oakland man charged Monday with murdering two children in a Thanksgiving night hit-and-run crash told his 17-year-old nephew moments before impact that he didn’t care if he or the teenager died as a result of his speeding, a prosecutor said.
Carmelo Salas, 28, was charged with murder in the deaths of Stephanie Cervantez, 14, and her 4-year-old cousin, Jacklin Munguia-Herrera, for allegedly running a stop sign in East Oakland and crashing his Ford Expedition sport utility vehicle into a Ford Mustang carrying the victims about 7:20 p.m. Thursday.
Salas fled after the crash at 89th Avenue and D Street but was arrested early the next morning, police said.
He was charged with murder under the theory of implied malice, which is defined as engaging in an unlawful act done in “conscious disregard” of the risk to human life, prosecutor Norbert Chu said.
Salas told his nephew, who was in the SUV with him, that he wasn’t afraid to die and that he would take his nephew with him, Chu said. Salas was going as fast as 80 mph in a 25-mph zone, and the nephew warned him seconds before impact that the Mustang was approaching, the prosecutor said…
…Salas is also the subject of a hold by U.S. Immigration and Customs Enforcement because he is in the United States illegally from Mexico, authorities said.

There was a story here in S. Florida the other day about Ford Explorer crammed with eight people rolling over and killing one of them and grievously injuring others. No one was wearing seat belts. It seems that Guatemalans rarely indulge in wearing them. The Guatemalan lady driving had no license either. Naturally there was no mention of immigration status in account that I read. Of course the major papers here are on the far left.
I also wonder who pays for the medical care? I suspect there was no car insurance either. Funny how law says you MUST have insurance and still one is urged to carry uninsured motorists’ insurance. Is it too much to expect that laws will be enforced? I’m not holding my breath.

The liberal media really hypes that one instance where an illegal stopped to help a boy after a wreck, but wants to ignore those TWO instances where illegals killed Americans!

I certainly fall way outside the “open borders” ideology, but how exactly is not reporting a tragic accident that involved an illegal alien any different when the MSM doesn’t report tragic accidents involving drunk Billy Bob in Nebraska hitting and killing a family? Accidents of these magnitudes happen frequently and more than likely the MSM doesn’t report on them on a national scale, let alone a regional or state scale.
Just seems as though there is a sense in which folks want to be a bit more critical and harsh just because it involves an illegal than when it involves a white American citizen.

Where does MADD stand on amnesty? I am not picking on that great organization at all. I just know how silent NOW is about the war whilst ½ the population (women) are comparatively free and have some rights. It makes me wonder, with the lives lost due to these illegals, where MADD stands.
I am sorry to say that unfortunately nothing is probably going to be done to stop these stories having to be told until it finally happens to a Pelosi or a Reid or someone of that ilk. Fairness. It isn’t fair that you don’t cover the stories of illegal immigrants who do good things like; not break any more laws than they already have or when they don’t kill Americans.

Law enforcement authorities have all they can handle dealing with crimes by legal residents. Even if the rate of crimes by illegal aliens were lower than that of legal residents, that would still unnecessarily burden a system that is already overwhelmed.

Another avoidable tragedy. And before the usual suspects blather on about how not all illegal immigrants commit crimes – I already know that.
But crimes like this shouldn’t happen because the criminals shouldn’t even be here.
Last night, I saw a commercial (several times) for the DVD release of Adrienne Shelly’s film “Waitress“, and how Shelly was killed by an illegal immigrant.
At the same time, here in Milwaukee an illegal immigrant who used his deceased cousin’s identity and became a police officer was sentenced to a year’s probation and is scheduled for deportation.
I don’t understand why – whenever someone commits a crime – their status isn’t questioned and they (if found to be here illegally) aren’t deported. Are there a lot of illegal immigrants? Yes. But that doesn’t mean the laws are null and void. Refusing to enforce immigration laws due to the number of offenders is like saying murder laws cannot be enforced because there are too many homicides.
We have a right – as a sovereign nation – to enforce our immigration laws. Mexican immigration laws are far tougher – and strictly enforced. Why the double standard?

We had an habitual drunk driver in this area that
killed a car full of high school girls on their way to
or from the library. He had the audacity (at his
attorney’s suggestion, i am certain ) to come into
court in a wheelchair with a neck brace after all the
news reports nearly a year before had said he wasn’t injured in the crash. It’s this kind of garbage
along with so many people that know they drink and drive and are afraid if they hand out stiff (no
pun intended) sentences that they will receive same
if they are ever caught.
But don’t you know, if you you just let them have driver’s licenses, this wouldn’t happen……right? uh, it’s our own fault for being so mean…… right? Hey Jaded – they aren’t “running rampant” they are “in the shadows” didn’t you hear that?

In the larger cities, there were certainly differences, but a great number of people coming here (To the US) illegally are from the poorer sections. Much the same as here in the Philippines where I am now (Now how is THAT for a racist huh?) As long as there is no damage done, the likelihood of suffering any real penalty in the provinces makes it actually ALMOST acceptable. Though those that do hurt anyone are rarely forgiven and usually prosecuted severely.
Also, in both the Philippines and Mexico, illegal immigrants are usually deported within 24 hours and NO APPEAL!

While the Wall Street Journal is the only paper worth reading these days, I personally sent the editors links to stories following immigration raids where underemployed Americans were lined up hundreds deep in order to obtain meat-packing jobs. Additionally, this “whitey” is tired of taking the blame for every ignorant victim of their own thoughtless and selfish decisions. At the end of the day, life in this country is remarkably easy. The only requirement is a slight investment in schooling and work. Very slight. Take a long look in the mirror, and then suck it up.
Secure the damn legal boarders from illegal boarders by securing the borders. Makes sense to me.
Here’s a scenario:
“2 illegal immigrants break into your house with the intention to do the housework they’ve been told you don’t want to do. One of them drops the baby they’re carrying, and the other saves the baby.”
Query: Does the homeowner have to allow the illegal immigrants to move in and live there, since they did a good deed in saving the baby?

The story about the little boy who was rescued in the middle of the desert. Did his family live out in the middle of the desert? I mean why would they be out there? I couldn’t figure out why this incident happened in the first place, were they traveling on an unused rural road? How did the man find them, was the boy wandering around? This is too sad to happen to a child and scary. I hope the little boy has family and is being taken care of what a tradgedy to have happen during the holiday season.
The boy and his mother were camping, in November? I am from the Northb I know Arizona must be warmer then where I come from, we don’t as a rule camp in the Winter. There wasn’t a cell phone to use? Or they were out of range of a tower? I have been camping, we take precautions. I hope the little boy has family, it is sad now he has lost both parents.

it is hard to tell from the link here, but could be this rural road is most likely a ‘route’ between the US and Mexico. i venture to say the woman was probably visiting family south of the border and was on her way home. how else could the boy and the man communicate? they both spoke spanish and they both are here illegally. The illegal immigration debate clearly illustrates the intellectual divide in this country. How can anyone disagree that securing our borders from illegal entry is any different from securing our homes with locks? Common sense is missing. The amnesty crowd has a different agenda. Plain and simple. Their world-view requires limited personal responsibility, redistribution of assets for the common good, (read…THEIR common good) and “we are the world” feel-good slogans. On my Townhall blog, Power Of One Vote date 10/18/07, I have some financial costs of illegal
immigration to us. They ARE NOT saving us money.

A friend of mine was hit by a drunk illegal who blew a red light here in Northern Va. T-boned her on the Driver side. Fortunately, she was able to climb out the passenger side, and walked away from her totaled car with minor injuries and a lingering back problem.
Unfortunately, the illegal’s car had no insurance, which didn’t help my friend’s bottom line. To add insult to injury, they released the illegal on his own recognizance.
Anyone want to lay odds on his chances of showing up at his trial?

I sent a donation to Team Tancredo. I do not believe that he has any chance of winning, and I probably wouldn’t actually vote for him. (Unless he actually won the nomination.)
But Tancredo CAN at least say what no one else is willing to say and keep this issue in the forefront of the political dialogue, where it belongs. Please think about it.
As a police officer in TN I know they can’t hold their liquor nor do they have valid drivers licenses. You lock em up and the judge let’s them out on bail and ICE normally won’t bother with them.
If the illegals take over and dissolve the gov’t of the USA will Indian reservations be lost? Will they reconquista the reservations too? As one post mentioned what does the Mexican gov’t do with illegals there who kill folks when driving drunk? I bet they are lot more efficient getting rid of their illeglas then they are at job creation.
I do know that to get a drivers license in Mexico one
does have to show proof of legal residency. No
bleeding heart liberals there.
