Thug singer Akon charged in boy-hurling case

By Michelle Malkin  •  November 29, 2007 08:53 PM

Back in June, thug R&B singer Akon was involved in a stage tantrum involving a boy whom he hurled from a stage. Here’s the vid:

Today, Akon was charged in the incident:

Police have filed several charges against hip-hop star Akon for tossing a teenager off the stage onto another spectator who said she suffered a concussion as a result.

The charges stem from an incident June 3 at Dutchess Stadium. Audience members said a spectator lobbed something at Akon and the singer asked the crowd to point out the culprit. A security guard picked out a 15-year-old and sent him up to the stage, where Akon hoisted him onto his shoulders and flung him into the crowd.

The boy landed on Abby Rosa, who told the Poughkeepsie Journal she was later diagnosed with a concussion. She said she has hired a lawyer and spoke to Fishkill police about the incident.

Akon is scheduled to appear in Fishkill Town Court Monday morning for arraignment on a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a minor, and second-degree harrasment,a violation, according to a news release issued Thursday by Town of Fishkill Police Chief Donald Williams.

More background here.

The unhinged kid-tossing debacle came on the heels of Akon’s videotaped girl-humping escapade, which led to Verizon Wireless dropping the jerk from its ringtone service and abandoning sponsorship of his concert tour with Gwen Stefani–as well as a failed attempt by his record label to stifle criticism of his behavior.

Meanwhile, the Akon empire continues to thrive.

Nice try, but it’s not a multiculturalism issue. This thread was about Akon assaulting a fan, it’s not about simulated sex with teenagers on stage. I don’t condone either.

To answer you question about whites doing similar things(assaulting fans):

GG Allen used to throw feces at fans. GG wasn’t West African.

Axl Rose has dived off the stage to fight fans. Axl isn’t West African.

That’s just off the top of my head. I can’t imagine who I’m leaving out.

For Gabe to make this issue about lack of assimilation and the failures in reaching out to multiculturalism displays an obvious level of ignorance. I doubt he would have made the comment if the singer was Motorhead’s Lemmy(British), or Billy Idol(British), or called them Barbarians.

    Bear:
It’s #10, since you’re so busy. I do think you have “jumped the shark”. You used to have well thoughtout posts that were reasonable although I disagreed with them. Your posts on the thread in support of ASSUMING the nasty women in the video were illegal hispanic immigrants based on statistics and demographics were pathetic. Good luck protecting your family from those unsanitary women who are illegal hispanic because you say so. You twisted yourself in a pretzel to support MM.

Indeed – it was his setup excuse. Of the “I’m predisposed” to do it out of ignorance of how decent people live variety. It’ll be interesting to see how well that excuse goes with a judge and jury. My guess is they will be somewhat less impressed with that defense than are you. Somehow I suspect “hey, I’m new in town, I didn’t know throwing and humping kids was unacceptable here!” likely won’t carry the day.

However, the crucial point here is you cannot deny Gabe’s correct conclusion that the thug _still_ hasn’t learned; as has been noted, it’s patently obvious by his own actions. You just have no defense against that undeniable fact.

Now, with that settled, you just need to offer some sincere apologies.

    Akon says:

“When I first came to this country I didn’t really understand the whole culture, you know me coming from Senegal, West Africa and all that”.

Then the object was thrown on stage. Which pissed off Akon, so he stopped mid-sentence. Next, he had the boy pointed out and brought on stage. Then he tossed him off(committing a possible felony), then he went back to his original statement as the video ends. Watch the video if you care. If you decide to “spin” what your own eyes and ears realize, there’s no hope in further discussion. Just say Buck I, I’m not gonna tell the truth, here. I’m gonna lie, just cus.

A jury of his peers, right? Isn’t that the line? A jury made up of people like you, probably jealous of the success of blacks like Akon because they are “thugs”.

Somehow I suspect “hey, I’m new in town, I didn’t know throwing and humping kids was unacceptable here!” likely won’t carry the day.

And will the kid who threw the object be charged with assault? perhaps we should take a page from the Jena case and charge his with attempted murder, then put him up against a “jury of his peers”.

So what difference does that make and what legal defense would apply here in this case? Certainly self defense would not apply and your asertion that he committed a possible felony is ridiculous. Throwing someone off the stage is “Assault with intent to do great bodily harm” and possibly even Assault with intent to murder, both of which are felonies.

You both seem to be the one spinning the facts and Peep is right, the “I’m new here excuse” will not fly with any jury in this country.

What my “eyes and ears realize” (lol) was your complaint. Let’s look at again so your eyes, ears, toes, belt buckle and moustache can examine and fully comprehend:

    You, quoting Gabe’s #10 -

“The barbarian still doesn’t. This is a real reason to get rid of this worship of “multiculturalism.” If he had been better assimilated, this stuff would not be going on.”

    Your complaining in response:

    Nobody ever challenged this.

    Gabe’s comment goes completely unchallenged.

Now, the burden – and I admit it’s an overwhelming one – is on you to show how the thug has learned. Otherwise Gabe wins the debate by default. Unless and until you can, your bluff has been called and you just got pwned.

You can be as irrational and insulting as you choose but it just doesn’t change that fact. But as noted, it is an undeniable fact so I can somewhat understand your emotional explosions since you’ve painted yourself into an embarassing corner. Throwing someone off the stage is “Assault with intent to do great bodily harm” and possibly even Assault with intent to murder, both of which are felonies.

Yep. Sounds about right coming from you. For him the justice system is just another instrument to mete out his bigotry. The kid who threw the object, nothing. Akon, attempted murder. Yes indeed, one standard applies to all. 30 pcs should be bojangling agreeing with you any time now…

Now, the burden – and I admit it’s an overwhelming one – is on you to show how the thug has learned. Otherwise Gabe wins the debate by default. Unless and until you can, your bluff has been called and you just got pwned.

LOL. He’s demanding an answer to the post when the post itself is the problem.

Interesting. Did somebody forget to apply this “standard” to the “Jena 6″?

    travis,

One last thing before I ignore you.

In this country we have ONE Justice Systen, not one for some idiot to mete out his bigotry and one for the rest of us. If you can’t understand that then you are a part of the problem and you deserve to be shunned. You are a dangerous person and I do not associate with dangerous people.

    Buh Bye

I dunno – for my money the continuous race-based attack on 30pieces (who is black) was both vulgar and obscene. And wrong. N’est-ce pas?

Wow, travis never sank as low as the other two. Face paint to lighten. Looking in a mirror and seeing Ronald McDonald.

By my count he made at least nine insulting posts.

    31, 33, 36, 43(really bad), 49(really bad), 60, 91(really bad), 132, 266

Al least we can see for ourselves how far we CAN insult someone here. Just under 10 as long as half do go over some imaginary line.
