Thug singer Akon charged in boy-hurling case
Back in June, thug R&B singer Akon was involved in a stage tantrum involving a boy whom he hurled from a stage. Here’s the vid:
Today, Akon was charged in the incident:
Police have filed several charges against hip-hop star Akon for tossing a teenager off the stage onto another spectator who said she suffered a concussion as a result.
The charges stem from an incident June 3 at Dutchess Stadium. Audience members said a spectator lobbed something at Akon and the singer asked the crowd to point out the culprit. A security guard picked out a 15-year-old and sent him up to the stage, where Akon hoisted him onto his shoulders and flung him into the crowd.
The boy landed on Abby Rosa, who told the Poughkeepsie Journal she was later diagnosed with a concussion. She said she has hired a lawyer and spoke to Fishkill police about the incident.
Akon is scheduled to appear in Fishkill Town Court Monday morning for arraignment on a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a minor, and second-degree harrasment,a violation, according to a news release issued Thursday by Town of Fishkill Police Chief Donald Williams.

The unhinged kid-tossing debacle came on the heels of Akon’s videotaped girl-humping escapade, which led to Verizon Wireless dropping the jerk from its ringtone service and abandoning sponsorship of his concert tour with Gwen Stefani–as well as a failed attempt by his record label to stifle criticism of his behavior.
Meanwhile, the Akon empire continues to thrive.

There are some nice hip-hop sounds musically - which I distinguish from rap, but you’re right to dismiss anything which takes no talent whatsoever to produce i.e. the more or less “pure” rap. (so to speak)

I wonder why it took the authorities this long to charge him? Did they have difficulty finding the kid? Did they need him to press charges?
Why the hell didn’t the cops pound Akon and drag him off stage immediately? Please tell me his concert didn’t go on?
At any rate, I still disagree with the outrage over him “humping a 14 year old girl on stage”. We may personally think it’s in poor taste, but in his defense, he had no way of knowing she was 14, and if you see photos from BEFORE the viral video, she was doing all the same stuff to him with HUGE smile on her face.
That “girl” incident was nonsense.. But this scumbag has spent a significant portion of his life behind bars already for major beefs. He should never have been made famous.
Michelle, Verizon Wireless never dropped him from their ringtone service. I noticed that the other day when I bought a couple of Christmas ringtones and I remember seeing them back in September as well. They have over 40 Akon ringtones, including ones that are promoted as “Verizon Exclusives”. Ick.

Akon, is just another in a long line of black celebrities who think they are above the law. I don’t know what this kid did; however, he paid his money to attend the concert. And Akon should have his bank account drained for having harmed any concertgoers.

I think he is trying to say that Acorn was justified in taking care of justice himself for whatever the kid threw.
I don’t know what the kid did, but in the hard rock concerts I’ve been to people that throw junk at the stage or use the laser pointers are promptly escorted out by security.
So by Travis’ logic we should be able to issue whatever punishment we see fit for anything done to us we do not like. The only way I could see Acorn taking any action would be if the kid ran up there to assault him. Even then surely a security guard, or even Acorn herself could do something other than attempt to injure others.

I don’t condone the actions of the kid that threw the item onto the stage. That was stupid on his part. (That’s assuming that the kid thrown was even correctly ‘identified’ by the audience). However, it seems rather clear from a legal standpoint that Akon’s reaction was not self-defense.
Even the crowd there was concerned enough for Akon to complain to them.

This whole notion of being this way or that according to some ethnic fantasy reminds me of a friend who is Jamaican from Jamaica.
He is my age (52) and he is waking up to the fact that there are many many gifted and talented people in the world than just Jamaicans. And he wants to get to know as many as he can right now.
