Thug singer Akon charged in boy-hurling case

By Michelle Malkin  •  November 29, 2007 08:53 PM

Back in June, thug R&B singer Akon was involved in a stage tantrum involving a boy whom he hurled from a stage. Here’s the vid:

Today, Akon was charged in the incident:

Police have filed several charges against hip-hop star Akon for tossing a teenager off the stage onto another spectator who said she suffered a concussion as a result.

The charges stem from an incident June 3 at Dutchess Stadium. Audience members said a spectator lobbed something at Akon and the singer asked the crowd to point out the culprit. A security guard picked out a 15-year-old and sent him up to the stage, where Akon hoisted him onto his shoulders and flung him into the crowd.

The boy landed on Abby Rosa, who told the Poughkeepsie Journal she was later diagnosed with a concussion. She said she has hired a lawyer and spoke to Fishkill police about the incident.

Akon is scheduled to appear in Fishkill Town Court Monday morning for arraignment on a misdemeanor charge of endangering the welfare of a minor, and second-degree harrasment,a violation, according to a news release issued Thursday by Town of Fishkill Police Chief Donald Williams.

More background here.

The unhinged kid-tossing debacle came on the heels of Akon’s videotaped girl-humping escapade, which led to Verizon Wireless dropping the jerk from its ringtone service and abandoning sponsorship of his concert tour with Gwen Stefani–as well as a failed attempt by his record label to stifle criticism of his behavior.

Meanwhile, the Akon empire continues to thrive.

Well, unless she has a time machine, that didn’t happen.

How many white celebrities do you hear about that, like the rap culture, carry firearms, automatic weapons, shoot at each other, kill each other, incite mass fights at their concerts, and think it’s just another day at the office?

I have no idea. I don’t spend my time in podunk bars.

You misunderstood my comments and didn’t ask for clarification. You’ve pretty much proven that you are an angry individual with deep seated issues regarding race and what it means to be black.

You sound like my sister back when my husband and I moved into a pretty upscale neighbor in PA. She was helping us move in which happened to be move in day for our neighbors who were black. She denied that they were the neighbors. They’re just the movers she said. Boy did she have to eat crow after that turned out not to be true. She couldn’t afford to live there. So, in essence neither could other black people. I was only able to move in because of my white husband, according to her logic.

But you see, she says whatever she has to say to make herself feel better, kind of like you.

So, I don’t take what you say personally. I actually pity you.

But he immediately associated her statement with ‘appeasement’ of whites – insinuating that she was trying to fit in with conservative whites by proclaiming her ethnicity and at the same time agreeing with the majority here.

You too remind me of someone I met in the back seat of my police car. Perhaps it’s time for to grow up, leave mommy’s bosom and be a real man. Bet you can’t do it.

Well if being a man includes shakin’ it for you… no, i can’t do that.

Travis – I’ll try this again since you didn’t understand my coy attempt at humor.

    You stated:

No one needs to go around apologizing for what people who have nothing to do with you have done

Who asked anyone to do that? Or was that just another incoherent blurb?

    No, Travis – it’s not.

30′s “As a black person” post was more accurately directed at those with YOUR mentality.

Those that assume that all black persons agree with and stand up for black thugs and criminals and like rap music.

She simply stated that, as a black person, she is NOT that way.

But you took it a step further and assumed that her statement was meant to ingratiate herself with whites – that she was apologizing for being black.

You assume a lot – that’s the problem.

A lie, but you said yourself that you qualified your opinion with “as a black person” several times before. Another Freudian slip? Face it, you have a problem, and like many problems, they need to be exposed to be cured.

As for you Travis – sincerely – you need to take off those racial glasses and realize that most of us here could care less about anyone’s race.

Like the man once said – paraphrasing…
“We don’t care about race – even if you do”.

I hope you can understand that someday. I really do.

But it put a smile on your face didn’t it? And no, it was for you. I know there are more than Akon and Mike Vick in the world, but, quite rightly, people like you don’t, so she used what she could, and it worked.

Those that assume that all black persons agree with and stand up for black thugs and criminals and like rap music.

like rap music? what does that have to do with anything? you got a little too comfortable there, didn’t you?

But you took it a step further and assumed that her statement was meant to ingratiate herself with whites – that she was apologizing for being black.

Actually she took it a step further when she said “long ling of black celebrities”.
