Hey, Barbara Boxer: Move on
The Sleuth blog run by WaPo’s Mary Ann Akers has an interesting item about Sen. Barbara Boxer’s snit fit over former Rep. James Rogan’s (R-Calif.) nomination to the federal bench. Akers reports that Boxer’s office admitted that she’s blocking the nomination because she can’t get over Rogan’s role as one of the House impeachment managers during the Clinton years.
Bill Clinton doesn’t hold a grudge against Rogan. Neither does Clinton water-carrier Lanny Davis, who told The Sleuth blog this:
Supporters of Rogan’s judicial nomination include, of all people, Lanny Davis, the former special counsel to former President Clinton, and another lawyer in the Clinton White House counsel’s office. He’s disappointed to learn Boxer is blocking Rogan over the impeachment trial.
Davis says the Clintons are forgiving, live-and-let-live kind of folks, so why can’t Boxer be? “I think that Senator Boxer is also a gracious person who, if she got to know Jim Rogan since the impeachment days as I have, would reconsider her opposition,” he says. “This is a man who would make a great judge.”
Boxer’s press aide told Akers:
Even if his cordial correspondence with Rogan over the years, some of it handwritten, means that Clinton himself is willing to forgive his impeacher, Boxer certainly isn’t ready to reward Rogan with a plum lifetime judicial appointment.
“Congressman Rogan was one of the most enthusiastic backers of impeachment — he thought President Clinton had committed high crimes and misdemeanors,” says Boxer spokeswoman Natalie Ravitz. “The Senate certainly disagreed with that conclusion, as did Senator Boxer.”
Someone needs to, you know, move on.
Democrats are not about getting even; Democrats are about getting results.

How soon they forget. Someone should remind Barbara Boxer of what her fearless leader said just one year ago:
1st, I have to wonder about Rogan if Lanny Davis and Bill Clinton think he’s ok.
2nd,
I think lying under oath is a crime, but the ends justify the means, right?
Are you kidding me??? If Lanny Davis actually has this view of the Clinton’s, (I guess history is wrong) and they can obviously lie to their closest friends, and confidants, and not blink an eye. Isn’t that sociopathy?
She needs to moveon.org!!!!
Was this Pelosi’s first lie?
Rogan paid the price for his convictions already, Barbie-doll. Now it’s time for her to suck it up and play like an adult.
What is it with these California legislatorettes? I think it goes beyond the Clinton Impeachment. Rogan is a California Superior Court judge now, I believe…is it possible that he ruled against one of Boxer’s wealthy buddies, or contributors, and she is looking for payback? Afterall, isn’t it always about money…and revenge, with Democrats?
No, katieanne…I believe her first lie was when she raised her right hand and swore to protect, and defend the constitution of the United States!
Aaaaaand why doesn’t Billy hold a grudge about it? Because he knows he was guilty as hell and deserved to be Impeached and was damn lucky not to have been thrown out on his butt and thus tries not to make a stink about it whenever it gets brought up, that’s why.
By no means was this the first. Here are a few examples of lies she told earlier:
–“Democrats have a commonsense plan to help bring down skyrocketing gas prices…” (To be accurate, they have tried to bring down gas prices by raising taxes on oil companies, but her use of the words “commonsense plan” still makes it a lie.)
–If she becomes speaker in the next Congress, she says, she would press to severely reduce earmarks. “Personally, myself, I’d get rid of all of them,” she says. – 7/13/2006
–Ms. Pelosi says she is committed to a “pay-as-you-go” budget approach…
–“We will not cut off funding for the troops,” Pelosi said. “Absolutely not,” she said. “Let me remove all doubt in anyone’s mind; as long as our troops are in harm’s way, Democrats will be there to support them… -Dec 5, 2006
(Pelosi and Reid are currently refusing to provide funding for the troops. So either she lied, or she believes the surge is working so well that the troops are no longer in harms way.)
There are plenty more examples, but these are enough to establish a trend.
This is the woman who blamed the California fires on the war and global warming right?
of: Huffington, Feinstein, Rogan:
Those of us who supported James Rogan when he was running for Congress, knew that he was a man of character-some of us even walked precinct for him and he was not running for the seat in our district. My guess is that he has not changed. Remember - too - that Republicans betrayed him during the impeachment proceedings.
The Republican leadership has a habit of switching when it suits them. We have D. Feinstein because the CRP “pulled the rug out from under” Rep. Dannemeyer (another man of character)- when he was campaigning for the Senate seat because they found a man with MONEY named HUFFINGTON (does the name ring a bell?) We - at the “grassroots” knew them both. Some of us decided to stay our hand and vote for neither Huffington or Feinstein. Some Republicans were so fed up with the CRP and the NRP that they voted for the Democrat-Feinstein.
Where am I going with this? The Republican Party had better cease and desist from the adage “just vote for the lesser of the two evils”!
Check out her pic at the top of the blog intro…it looks like, yes…she’s pulling down her lower eyelid, and is asking us to look in there to see if she gives a….y-e-a-h.
Unfortunately, the Republican Party is filled to the brim with pussillanimous personalities. Hopefully, this election cycle, we can find some people to replace those retiring, who actually have some spine.
I just ran this through the Liberal-English translator and it came out as “To Democrats, getting results and getting even are the same thing.” I guess I need to learn Liberal-Speak before I can understand what these left-wing politicians are really saying.
You are “right on” -right_on.
Do you see any with courage - except our Micheal in PA - this election cycle?
and Duncan Hunter!
No one jumps out at me right now. I am hopeful that some of our bright, newly separated servicemen and women, take an opportunity to run for office. That would be a wonderful thing! There have to be some “real soldiers” out there that want to continue to make a difference, if you know what I mean.
Well said. And the MSM is crowing about how the DNC is way ahead of the RNC in fund-raising. I suspect they know very well and good that it’s because the party has strayed from its conservative grounding; if so, they’re not about to say so. Hopefully, though, the RNC and Republican candidates recognize that fact and will start sounding and acting like conservatives again-then the contributions will roll in.
Personally, I believe the GOP is in need of an enema, to flush the RINOs (I guess I’m sort of restating your point…), but I suppose that’s a bit too much to ask for.
William T. Russell-challenger for John Murtha (M. Malkin Oct. 28, 07) stands out for me. He left the service 2 yrs. short of retirement to take on Murtha. He and his wife survived the 9-11 attack on the Pentagon.I have given money to his fledgling campaign- that is how much he and his message impressed me.

GO ARMY - BEAT NAVY
GO NAVY! BEAT ARMY!
nancy, if dems are about getting results, just what results have they obtained this past year? Nada? I thought so
What utter Bull Sh*t. Boxer is simply doing the Clinton’s bidding on Rogan’s nomination.
Cripes, Boxer and the Clintons are even freakin related.
Evidently, at this point in time, Hirrary wants to be viewed as a Uniter, not a Divider.
Live and let live, my ass. Oh yeah, and I’m a Chinese Aviator.
Papa Louie,
Thanks for all the post’s.
I especially like the fib about the troops. These folks have their own agenda and it isnt pretty for America and American’s. good work louie.
I’ve read so many e mails from Boxer I had to install a seperate garbage bin in my brain to hold them all.
Favorite Boxer quote:
It’s not a baby until you bring it home from the hospital.
Whisky Tango Foxtrot
After that statement all I ever hear out of her mouth is:
Waa wa wawa waaawaawaaawaaah
Wait a second soap, she really didnt say that did she? remember it’s early here and me thinks you’re messing with my mind.
As if you needed more proof that the people who claim to be about “progress” are really stuck back in the 90s, the 60s, and antiquated Communist ideologies.
Progressive indeed.
Yup AJ, she said it.
soap, not that I dont believe you , I just cant for the life of me think anyone would say something that incredibly stupid.
I always wondered what drug he was on.
Time for the Dems to move.on.org?
Lying under oath is a high crime, that just got Libby convicted for 30 months and $250,000 fine. It is a higher crime when the top leader in the country, who swore to uphold and defend the Constitution of the United States of America, gets to pick and choose when he, while under a court oath to tell the truth, wants to uphold and follow those laws.
Of course, I also think it’s a high crime to accept a government salary while not doing your job. Not that I’m saying that Sen. Boxer has done such as thing, but I am amazed at how few ethics charges are making it through her committee. Seems like all we hear about is how many Senators are getting arrested, taking bribes, etc. Has there been any Senate censures in this session of Congress?
She has filed motion against the President, VP, and AG Gonzales. But is that really all she can do as one of the 100 highest State representatives in the country?
If she is willing to ignore her job in the Senate, it’s pretty clear whey she would think that a person calling for the enforcement of law would be unfit to sit as a Federal judge.
As a Native Caliifornian…
Boxer must Go!
I wish oethers would wake up and realize this person is not right for us here and the rest of the Country.
Boxer: NOT A BABY
Not all of the google links take you to her statement on the Senate floor but there are enough out of the 1000 to make you confident she said it.
#15 Papa Louie: You know, I just ran that through my translator and I got a diffferent translation:
Output: We are going to raise your taxes and create more government programs.
As a test I tried some others. Here are the results
Input: We need to protect the children
Output: We are going to raise your taxes and create more government programs.
Input: We have to stop global warming now!
Output: We are going to raise your taxes and create more government programs.
Input: We are going to to help working families.
Output: We are going to raise your taxes and create more government programs.
Is this translator broken or am I doing something wrong?
LOL JSR, like a broken record….
Boxer’s actions do not reflect very well on women and it appears she lives the ancient well used line, “hell hath no fury greater than a woman scorned.” Is this not the same classless individual that dangled the gavel and made the statement ”elections have consequences” showing us the level of her maturity. I didn’t think the Democrats could go much lower, but they manage to just keep digging. By the way Ms Boxer Billy was quilty as hell about lying under oath.
Maybe she should get over it. Maybe she has, blog reporting being what it is. But you can’t deny that the impeachment (like the Schiavo incident) was a cynical act that eventually backfired on the Republicans.
Avoiding engagment today.
Have a nice day LGM.

OT …
Morning … are you having problems with the Friends site?
Back on topic …
Boxer can forgive Abscam Murtha, Cold Cash Jefferson, Impeached former Judges, Prostitution Ring Runners, KKK Grand Wizards and others in her party … but she can’t own up to the fact that Billy Boy lied to a Grand Jury and tried to impede an investigation … both of which are crimes … if that had been any one of us doing that we would still be in jail …
As for Libby … what a crock … it was a witch hunt … they knew all along who the “leak” was … and it wasn’t Libby …
The first viable presidential candidate that tells me he promises to exonerate Libby and pardon the Border agents moves to the top of my vote list …
Ahhh yes, Barbara Boxer, US House of Representative, famous checker bouncer…
She should excuse herself on judicial appointments. After all, she’s a thief.
Barbara Boxer is proof God is displeased with the Golden State.
Translation:
This is efficiency to a liberal.
.
(Redundant rhetoric to the rest of the world.)
must avoid temptation…must.
ajmontana said :
Dude, we can’t stop there! Feinstein, Pelosi, Fortney (Stark), Sanchez, Miller, and others need to go, too!
I’m a Califonian also. It’s like our representatives are “main-lining” a drug straight out of San Francisco!
Look what SF politics has brought our country…The list just gets longer, and longer…it sickens me.
From #39:
“But you can’t deny that the impeachment (like the Schiavo incident) was a cynical act that eventually backfired on the Republicans.”
1) Bill Cinton lied - that is, he knowing spoke an untruth, under oath, in answer to a question.
Trying to hold him to account for perjury was cynical?
That it backfired on Republicans is of far less significance than the fact that the President lied under oath.
2)Whatever the cognitive function of her brain was, Terry Schiavo was starved and dehydrated to death.
Whether Terry had said something at some time about not wanting to live in a certain condition; and the fact that she would never - never - have regained even minimum undependent cognition and function are of far less significance than the fact that a human life was purposely ended by starvation and dehydration over two weeks.
The attempt by some to prevent such an act was cynical?
Such a comment as is in quotations above, that refers to these acts as cynical - not as imperfectly, or clumsily carried out, but as cynical - speaks volumes about the world view of the one who would call these acts cynical.
The comment speaks for itself.
No further discussion or explanation are necessary. In fact, such further effort would be futile.
Yet another example of, “If I have to explain it to you, you’ll never understand.”
Such is the sad, unbridgeable chasm between worldviews.
Whoa!!
…Independent cognition…
Apologies….
It didn’t backfire on Republican’s, in my opinion. Those patriotic Democrats in the Senate not only showed their true nature, but also gave us a preview of things to come. Party loyalty and partisanism was able to overcome the rule of law. And now, political dissent has overcome patriotism.
That Clinton lied was never an issue with Democrats. Just look how they started spinning it…lying to cover up a sexual indiscretion is not a matter of national security…oral sex is not sex…and, of course, “It depends on what the meaning of ‘is’ is!” This was the accelerator used to fuel their current agendas of gotcha, and revenge.
LOL #36 JSR: I stand corrected. It turns out I was using an outdated translator. The official
LiberalProgressive-English translator does respond to every input with the output:On a related note, I just discovered what Democrats mean when they say they will only raise taxes on the rich. From a global, one-world-government point of view, they are telling the truth. Compared to the average individual from China, India, North Korean, or other 3rd world countries, all Americans are rich. So in their minds, when they raise taxes on all Americans, they are only taxing the rich. Why else would they refuse to remove the Alternate Minimum Tax or correct it for inflation. They WANT the AMT to eventually trap all tax payers. It is an automatic tax increase every year that they don’t even have to vote for.
Yo #43, Boxer is (one reason) WHY God is displeased with the Golden state… lol
I have said it before, 2008 starts the end of our 40 years in the wilderness. When Boxer and the rest of her ilk have
passedmoved on, then America can be the land of milk & honey.Right on #46,
You are 100% correct.
Papa Louie, your Progressive-English translator is working fine. Anything you put in said by the leftists comes out the same: “We are going to raise your taxes and create more government programs.”
And why should he?–he was guilty as sin, but his transgressions were not deemed serious enough for removal from office.
A Californian myself, even the liberals I talk to here have known for years that Boxer is an idiot. She’s a model of the stereotype elitist liberal, who has professed (unintentionally) her complete unfamiliarity with our nation’s foreign affairs history on numerous occasions in print news in our state.
It baffles me how she keeps getting re-elected.
