Hillary and Obama: The Democrat Punch and Judy Show

By Michelle Malkin  •  December 3, 2007 03:35 PM

Update: Gloves off.

***
Question: What weighty world issue are the two leading Democrat presidential candidates attacking each other over?

Answer: How long Barack Obama has wanted to be president.

No, really. I’m not kidding. And neither are they. Hillary Clinton’s campaign site features the following press release. Remember: It’s not a satire:

Sen. Obama Rewrites History, Claims He Hasn’t Been Planning White House Run

Today in Iowa, Senator Barack Obama said: “I have not been planning to run for President for however number of years some of the other candidates have been planning for.”

Oh really?

“Senator Obama’s comment today is fundamentally at odds with what his teachers, family, classmates and staff have said about his plans to run for President,” Clinton spokesperson Phil Singer said. “Senator Obama’s campaign rhetoric is getting in the way of his reality.”

Immediately after joining the Senate, Senator Obama started planning run for President. “‘The first order of business for Senator Obama’s team was charting a course for his first two years in the Senate. The game plan was to send Senator Obama into the 2007-2008 election cycle in the strongest form possible’…The final act of the plan was turning up the talk about a potential Presidential bid, which was greatly aided by his positive press and suggestions by pundits that he run for President.” [U.S. News and World Report, 6/19/07 ]

His law school classmates say that Senator Obama has been planning Presidential run for ‘more than a decade.’ [A]ccording to those who know him, he has been talking about the presidency for more than a decade. “It was clear to me from the day I met him that he was thinking about politics,” says Harvard Law School classmate Christine Spurell. [Washington Post, 8/12/07 ]

15 years ago, Senator Obama told his brother-in-law he was planning to run for President. Craig [Robinson] pulled him aside [in 1992] and asked about his plans. “He said, ‘I think I’d like to teach at some point in time, and maybe run for public office,’ recalls Robinson, who assumed Senator Obama meant he’d like to run for city alderman. “He said no — at some point he’d like to run for the U.S. Senate. And then he said, ‘Possibly even run for President at some point.’ And I was like, ‘Okay, but don’t say that to my Aunt Gracie.’ I was protecting him from saying something that might embarrass him.” [Washington Post, 8/12/07 ]

In third grade, Senator Obama wrote an essay titled ‘I Want To Be a President.’ His third grade teacher: Fermina Katarina Sinaga “asked her class to write an essay titled ‘My dream: What I want to be in the future.’ Senator Obama wrote ‘I want to be a President,’ she said.” [The Los Angeles Times, 3/15/07]

In kindergarten, Senator Obama wrote an essay titled ‘I Want to Become President.’ “Iis Darmawan, 63, Senator Obama’s kindergarten teacher, remembers him as an exceptionally tall and curly haired child who quickly picked up the local language and had sharp math skills. He wrote an essay titled, ‘I Want To Become President,’ the teacher said.” [AP, 1/25/07 ]

And Obama’s new “counterattack” website bravely, intrepidly, staunchly takes Hillary on:

Clinton Release: “Sen. Obama Rewrites History, Claims He Hasn’t Been Planning White House Run…Senator Obama’s comment today is fundamentally at odds with what his teachers, family, classmates and staff have said about his plans to run for President,” Clinton spokesperson Phil Singer said. ‘Senator Obama’s campaign rhetoric is getting in the way of his reality.’” [Clinton Press Release, 12/2/07]

Washington Post: “Losing Ground In Iowa, Clinton Assails Obama.” “With a new poll showing her losing ground in the Iowa caucus race, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) mounted a new, more aggressive attack against Sen. Barack Obama.” [Washington Post, 12/3/07]

Des Moines Register: “Clinton Begins To Swing Harder At Rival Obama.” “Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton ramped up her criticism of rival Barack Obama.” [Des Moines Register, 12/3/07]

New York Daily News: “Hillary Clinton Attack On Barack Obama Comes After She Loses Iowa Lead.” “Hours after a new poll showed her falling behind for the first time in Iowa, Hillary Clinton launched a blistering personal broadside on rival Barack Obama.” [New York Daily News, 12/3/07]

Chicago Tribune: “This Clinton Attack On Obama Could Boomerang.” “The Clinton people are citing a kindergarten essay by Obama as evidence against him in a presidential campaign. Good thing he was born before widespread pre-natal ultrasounds. Who knows how they might’ve used that against him? Clinton’s people have thrown similar jabs before at Obama but it hasn’t fazed him. So their seems to be a little more fury behind the punches as now that Obama’s may have taken the lead in Iowa according to the Des Moines Register’s most recent poll.” [Chicago Tribune, The Swamp, 12/3/07]

New York Times: “An Attack, From the Candidate’s Mouth” [New York Times, 12/2/07]

New York Times: “Battered by Poll, Clinton Hits Back” [New York Times, 12/2/07]

…INCLUDING OBAMA’S KINDERGARTEN ESSAYS
Clinton Release: “In kindergarten, Senator Obama wrote an essay titled ‘I Want to Become President. ‘Iis Darmawan, 63, Senator Obama’s kindergarten teacher, remembers him as an exceptionally tall and curly haired child who quickly picked up the local language and had sharp math skills. He wrote an essay titled, ‘I Want To Become President,’ the teacher said.” [AP, 1/25/07]

…JUST WEEKS AFTER PROMISING NOT TO ATTACK DEMOCRATS

Clinton Said “I’m Not Interested In Attacking My Opponents, I’m Interested In Attacking The Problems Of America.” “I’m not interested in attacking my opponents, I’m interested in attackng the problems of America. And I believe we should be turning up the heat on the Republicans — they deserve all the heat we can give them.” [Clinton Jefferson Jackson speech]

Clinton: Obama is ambitious!

Obama: Hillary is mean!

It is as if Hillary is counting on being able to submit a list of reasons to the voters- I mean it, a LIST- which articulate why she should be given not only the nomination, but the Presidency.

And then you have “Barry” Obama. The campaign “BOT”- “change. change. change. change. change.”

“Barry”- Boohbie- I “change” my socks every. I “change” my route to the post office. What the hell are you talking about?

Neither’s experience in Washington has amounted to a hill of hooey. Unless there is fresh evidence (i.e. files and paper trails) to suggest Hillary worked on other things beside the still-born Hillary care health boondoggle. Unless there is some bold legislative initiatives ObamaRama has authored which supports the notion that he can comprehend and materialize “change”.

Okay people, get ready for some mental gymnastics.

Remember back on Jan 17, 2007 (posting date) when Insightmag.com made the charge that Obama was hiding his education as a young child in a Madrassa? The article was entitled “Hillary’s team has questions about Obama’s Muslim background.” Insight claimed that the information was leaked by the Clinton campaign to show that Obama was deceptive about his past. The Clinton campaign countered that this information was a typical “right-wing hit job” [always with the conspiracies] against Obama. I’m not sure if it was ever confirmed who actually leaked the charges that the Madrassa might link Obama to radical thoughts and upbringing (which were much in the news at the time, mostly with reference to Pakistan).

Anyway, the past is a bit blurry to me on this but apparently Obama lived in Indonesia from the ages of 6 to 10, or the years 1967 to 1971. He first attended a Catholic school and then a Muslim school (Basuki school). So unless Obama also spent some time in a kindergarden stateside before moving to Indonesia you’d think his kindergarden essay on wanting to be President could have been written in Jakarta. This leads me to the obvious question did he want to be President of the United States or of Indonesia? And of course the same question applies to his third grade essay! However in this case (if the teacher’s memory is correct) Obama only wanted to be “a” President. Someone needs to ask Obama about this, I guess.

What I find interesting about this is that the recent Clinton press release is basically saying the same thing as the original charge stated in Insightmag – that Obama is deceptive about his past. The press release also does not mention where Obama attended kindergarden or third grade with the possible oblique references to the teacher’s names, ‘Iis Darmawan and Fermina Katarina Sinaga, respectively, which could be casually construed as foreign names. Nor does the press release mention the words ‘Madrassa’ or ‘Muslim’, but maybe we should read between the lines?

My actual gut feeling is that the press release was written to make people think Obama attended kindergarden and third grade in the United States. Perhaps the fact that he was in Indonesia at the time was simply an oversight. On the other hand it may have been a direct omission to allow bloggers to dredge up the Madrassa issue again, allowing the Clinton campaign to keep its hands clean. In that case I fell for it hook line and stinker!

Here’s a link to the CNN story that debunked the radical nature of the Basuki Muslim school.

Dwight Eisenhower trusted no one anxious for high political office. Eisenhower wrote the following in his diary in 1953: “I feel that anyone who can, without great personal sacrifice, come to Washington to accept an important governmental post is not fit to hold that post. This, of course, is not true in some of the more technical and professional positions, and it unfair to assume that everyone should share my feelings in the matter when high positions are involved. But just the same, my respect and admiration for any individual who turns out to be a seeker after a political post diminishes almost to the vanishing point.”

Didn’t someone debunk Hillary’s being named after
Sir Edmund Hillary by showing that the timeline was
all wrong? Woman lies when the truth is so much
simpler to tell. She either cannot help herself or she
knows she’s doing it and does it anyway. Is this who
    anyone would want for president?
    Duh.

RANT WARNING RANT WARNING RANT WARNING

BEAR UP ON TWO LEGS SPOUTING OFF.

Vindication is cool. When the hostage taking crisis happened my first comment was that i prayed it was real and not a manufactured event.

    Well, well, well….

Was listening to the lead-in to the Laura Ingraham Show tonite here in BerserkoBullshiteland– where the weather is balmy and my salami sub tastes even better because the guy who was making it in the deli moved me to the head of the line of a buncha tofuHeads chatting about Barry Obama.

Anyways— the lead on the show was about how the hostage was a green tooth urine smelling guy from the woods with two road flares stuck in his belt.

And the non-stop reporting on this non-story received 2 plus days of news coverage on the alphabet networks and cable stations.

Meanwhile the surge and Jack Murtha’s comments about how the surge is working can’t get even a mention.

It’s All News Hillary All the Time. This was her Katrina. This was her 9-11.
According to Ingraham. (to lazy to use my quote keys.)

It’s sickening all this manufactured sludge.

To top it off, one of the Clinton’s homosexual water boys is going after Michael Savage in support of CAIR’s efforts. It has Clinton fingerprints all over it– Podesta and company.

I have this gut feeling though that she is headed for a huge embarassment. The lead pipe cinch that these AssClowns think they have on the nomination is going to backfire.

It will take one silver bullet question asked of her in the national election debates to undo her.

And it won’t be one of the “prepared” questions. It will be a ricochet question coming out of something the other candidate brings up—and the moderator will ask her to address.

Clinton will step all over herself- worse than the drivers license question.

I hope her and AmabO tear each other to shreds to increase the amount of underwhelm in NASCAR and flyover country (do folks there even know these two exist?).

I remember the jr. Senator from New York in her 2006 re-electtion campaign were she was asked the question does she have any ambitions for rrunning for the Presidency in 2008? She said “I have no plans for running for President 2008 , I want to finish out my term as a US Senator from NY if re-elected and work hard for the great people of New York State. What a bunch of BS. Didn’t vote for her in 2000 nor in 2006. Every time she is on TV I say to my wife now there is an EVIL WOMAN.

I think it is actually pretty easy to understand the Progressive way of thinking…it’s really very simple-ton.

A great example of Progressives in action is Uncle Hugo, down there in Wenezuela. Look at just whom he targets with his propaganda, and his “high-minded” programs.

The one thing neither country will run out of anytime soon, is un-educated, emotionally defective (who are the most easily swayed by the use of “negative” emotions) voters.

Writing essays in kindergarden? Gee, did they include footnotes and a bibliography? I barely knew I was alive, much less have ambitions to be someone when I grew up. I think the BS meter just went into the red zone. 2 people only interested in sitting in the Oval Office saying that they are President. Ambition over sense that will serve only to corrupt the office itself.

I think the main point of the Clinton campaign in talking about his kindergarden and grade school presidential dreams was to dredge up the fact that he attended school at a young age in a foreign country. Someone did some polling and found some high negatives they could apply here. I’d bet ten buck that Clinton somehow works it into a future debate (if she hasn’t already). And the use of the word “essay” was just to make Obama sound like he was a precocious kid who is now too intellectual to connect with voters.

The Clintons will sink into any sewer to destroy an opponent. The opponent’s political views, race or religion makes no difference to the Clintons. If that person stands in the way of the Clintons, the Clintons, aided by their friends at the MSM and the NY Times will do the bidding of the Clintons. One thing that the MSM never asks Hillary Clinton. You claimed for many years that you were named after Sir Edmund Hillary. Yet Edmund Hillary made his historic Mount Everest summit in 1953, several years after you were born. Your parents obviously had not heard of him when you were born. Do you want to admit that you lied when you made the claim about how you were named?
What are the odds of any reporters at the New York Times raising this issue? About zero.

Now let’s see how this works. Hillary refuses to release her White House records, but she somehow wants Obama to come up with the essay he wrote in kindergarten about wanting to be president.

It does not take a village to know how incredibly ridiculous this looks for a number of reasons.

First, the Hillarylanders are giving Obama credit for being this brillant four-year old, capable of writing essays while most kids at age four are just learning the alphabet and do not have the small motor skills required to color inside the lines.

Second, Hillary shows really bad judgement by surrounding herself with these bubbleheads. If this is how she acts before even nominated, just imagine the types of advisors she would pick if chosen president. Just imagine who she’d send to the UN.

Third, if this group cannot even figure out age appropriate behaviour for a kindergartner, how can they possibly figure out how to handle Medicare or for older people or health care for that matter.

Fourth, the Hillarylanders just gave their major opponent, Obama, an incredible compliment.

Next, we’re gonna hear Hillary say that she didn’t know anything about the news blast put out by her staff. She didn’t know anything about Whitewater, Monica, Travelgate, the Rose law firm billing records, etc.

    Yep…way to go Hillary…
