Hillary and Obama: The Democrat Punch and Judy Show

Update: Gloves off.
***
Question: What weighty world issue are the two leading Democrat presidential candidates attacking each other over?
Answer: How long Barack Obama has wanted to be president.
No, really. I’m not kidding. And neither are they. Hillary Clinton’s campaign site features the following press release. Remember: It’s not a satire:
Sen. Obama Rewrites History, Claims He Hasn’t Been Planning White House Run
Today in Iowa, Senator Barack Obama said: “I have not been planning to run for President for however number of years some of the other candidates have been planning for.”
Oh really?
“Senator Obama’s comment today is fundamentally at odds with what his teachers, family, classmates and staff have said about his plans to run for President,” Clinton spokesperson Phil Singer said. “Senator Obama’s campaign rhetoric is getting in the way of his reality.”
Immediately after joining the Senate, Senator Obama started planning run for President. “‘The first order of business for Senator Obama’s team was charting a course for his first two years in the Senate. The game plan was to send Senator Obama into the 2007-2008 election cycle in the strongest form possible’…The final act of the plan was turning up the talk about a potential Presidential bid, which was greatly aided by his positive press and suggestions by pundits that he run for President.” [U.S. News and World Report, 6/19/07 ]
His law school classmates say that Senator Obama has been planning Presidential run for ‘more than a decade.’ [A]ccording to those who know him, he has been talking about the presidency for more than a decade. “It was clear to me from the day I met him that he was thinking about politics,” says Harvard Law School classmate Christine Spurell. [Washington Post, 8/12/07 ]
15 years ago, Senator Obama told his brother-in-law he was planning to run for President. Craig [Robinson] pulled him aside [in 1992] and asked about his plans. “He said, ‘I think I’d like to teach at some point in time, and maybe run for public office,’ recalls Robinson, who assumed Senator Obama meant he’d like to run for city alderman. “He said no — at some point he’d like to run for the U.S. Senate. And then he said, ‘Possibly even run for President at some point.’ And I was like, ‘Okay, but don’t say that to my Aunt Gracie.’ I was protecting him from saying something that might embarrass him.” [Washington Post, 8/12/07 ]
In third grade, Senator Obama wrote an essay titled ‘I Want To Be a President.’ His third grade teacher: Fermina Katarina Sinaga “asked her class to write an essay titled ‘My dream: What I want to be in the future.’ Senator Obama wrote ‘I want to be a President,’ she said.” [The Los Angeles Times, 3/15/07]
In kindergarten, Senator Obama wrote an essay titled ‘I Want to Become President.’ “Iis Darmawan, 63, Senator Obama’s kindergarten teacher, remembers him as an exceptionally tall and curly haired child who quickly picked up the local language and had sharp math skills. He wrote an essay titled, ‘I Want To Become President,’ the teacher said.” [AP, 1/25/07 ]
And Obama’s new “counterattack” website bravely, intrepidly, staunchly takes Hillary on:
Clinton Release: “Sen. Obama Rewrites History, Claims He Hasn’t Been Planning White House Run…Senator Obama’s comment today is fundamentally at odds with what his teachers, family, classmates and staff have said about his plans to run for President,” Clinton spokesperson Phil Singer said. ‘Senator Obama’s campaign rhetoric is getting in the way of his reality.’” [Clinton Press Release, 12/2/07]
Washington Post: “Losing Ground In Iowa, Clinton Assails Obama.” “With a new poll showing her losing ground in the Iowa caucus race, Sen. Hillary Rodham Clinton (D-N.Y.) mounted a new, more aggressive attack against Sen. Barack Obama.” [Washington Post, 12/3/07]
Des Moines Register: “Clinton Begins To Swing Harder At Rival Obama.” “Democratic presidential candidate Hillary Clinton ramped up her criticism of rival Barack Obama.” [Des Moines Register, 12/3/07]
New York Daily News: “Hillary Clinton Attack On Barack Obama Comes After She Loses Iowa Lead.” “Hours after a new poll showed her falling behind for the first time in Iowa, Hillary Clinton launched a blistering personal broadside on rival Barack Obama.” [New York Daily News, 12/3/07]
Chicago Tribune: “This Clinton Attack On Obama Could Boomerang.” “The Clinton people are citing a kindergarten essay by Obama as evidence against him in a presidential campaign. Good thing he was born before widespread pre-natal ultrasounds. Who knows how they might’ve used that against him? Clinton’s people have thrown similar jabs before at Obama but it hasn’t fazed him. So their seems to be a little more fury behind the punches as now that Obama’s may have taken the lead in Iowa according to the Des Moines Register’s most recent poll.” [Chicago Tribune, The Swamp, 12/3/07]
New York Times: “An Attack, From the Candidate’s Mouth” [New York Times, 12/2/07]
New York Times: “Battered by Poll, Clinton Hits Back” [New York Times, 12/2/07]
…INCLUDING OBAMA’S KINDERGARTEN ESSAYS
Clinton Release: “In kindergarten, Senator Obama wrote an essay titled ‘I Want to Become President. ‘Iis Darmawan, 63, Senator Obama’s kindergarten teacher, remembers him as an exceptionally tall and curly haired child who quickly picked up the local language and had sharp math skills. He wrote an essay titled, ‘I Want To Become President,’ the teacher said.” [AP, 1/25/07]…JUST WEEKS AFTER PROMISING NOT TO ATTACK DEMOCRATS
Clinton Said “I’m Not Interested In Attacking My Opponents, I’m Interested In Attacking The Problems Of America.” “I’m not interested in attacking my opponents, I’m interested in attackng the problems of America. And I believe we should be turning up the heat on the Republicans — they deserve all the heat we can give them.” [Clinton Jefferson Jackson speech]
Clinton: Obama is ambitious!
Obama: Hillary is mean!

What do you expect from a couple of Dems who have the mentality of children?
In kindergarten I wanted to be an astronaut!
Gotta admit – I’m stumped by this
cuz I honestly think it’s only gonna get worse for a few more months.
I’m sure all kindergarten teachers remember all the essays they assigned to their pupils and what those pupils “wrote”. Actually I’m sure the kindergarten students word processed their essays…
In kindergarten I wanted to be a pilot or fly. The Air Force allowed me to fly in Tankers and was able to actually fly not only the boom, but my pilots let me fly the airplane to include several approaches and a touch and go landing in instructor school. Being able to live your dream makes life worth living so is growing up to act like an adult. I have to agree wake me up when the Iowa caucus is over.
… the Clinton campaign interviewed maternity ward nurse Blanca Stare who said, “I clearly remember, he was the kid who could talk when he was born, and he clearly said, “Dada, momma, I want to be President.”
December of ’08, maybe?
When I was a wee tyke I always wanted to be a pharmacist, mostly because I noticed all the ladies in the local Budlong Drugs pharmacy would be swooning all over the pharmacist. Then I wanted to be the Mayor (capital M for Chicago politics), a computer programmer, and finally a computer programmer. Finally I settled on being an electrical engineer, and for all you single ladies out there, that means I’m still single! Yeee haaa!!!!
So Obama has had a life long dream to be President…I’m failing to see how that’s a bad thing. Ambition is what drives people to do great (sometime horrible) things. Those without ambition end up sitting on their couches, picking Cheetos out of their folds.
I wonder if this post will come back to haunt me when I run for President in 2032?
Punch and Judy Show? Heh. More like Itchy and Scratchy.
Freakin’ surreal. Now I’m smelling sulphur!
Hillary’s salaried dumpster-trolls are now sifting for kindergarten position papers? This is getting good!
Stealing a few thoughts from others on this topic, elsewhere:
Damn, this guy’s good – he was a Senator in Kindergarten already….
I smell an impending photochop effort to create the candidate’s grade school period pieces from art class!
(I do believe my cold medication will be beneficial for this effort, that is as long as I don’t operate heavy machinery…)
When I was a little kid I wanted to be in the Army. Then I grew up and became a U.S. Marine. Now that took maturity!!! In my opinion, anyone who wants to be president needs re-hab.
neener, neener, neener.
Leave it to a Marine to make a fly boy laugh. Thanks!
Does this mean that they will be planting ringers at Democratic debates? LOL.
Sorry, I gotta write it – I question the timing.
petty stuff, i guess this is the ‘big’ item Hillary was going to expose against Obama a week ago or so, hey? i wonder what hidden things in Obama’s past that she has drummed up to derail his lead? goodness. i am already tired of this political ‘season’. can we go back to a 6 month presidential campaign? primaries in 3 months and national campaign in 3 more..?? please?
Slow news day…………
I didn’t know wanting to be President since being a kid made one unqualified to be President. I guess Mom & Dad can never discipline their child again by saying “If you do that you’ll never grow up to be President!” Then again, it is the Democrats we’re talking about.
Maybe she means December, 2008. I know I wouldn’t mind checking out for the next year.
In kindergarten, I wanted to be an actress, a mermaid, and a doctor. I graduated from college with a BA in English and now I’m getting my Master’s so I can be an English professor.
Does the fact I wanted to be an actress/mermaid/doctor in kindergarten mean I’m not qualified to teach now?
Because that’s about how much sense Hillary’s argument makes.
Barack Obama – the most insightful and ambitious kindergartener Evah!!!!!!!!!!
I gave my love a cherry / That had no stone / I gave my love a chicken / That had no bones / I gave my love a story / That had no end / I gave my…
This is a very good example of how far the Clinton sleeze machine will go to find “the goods” on their opponents! OMG!!! All the way back to the third grade? Where, pray tell, did they find this information, and from whom did they receive it?
Why, in God’s name did they even mention it? This is only the type of drivel that those with low IQ’s would find important, and damaging. Wow…
What is more important is the fact that this little disclosure confirms the allegation that the Clinton’s do, in fact, hire detectives to find hidden skeletons, dig up mud, and try to make up “issues” where there are none.
If only they could spend as much time, and money finding solutions for things that really matter.
Clinton and Obama are the type of people if they met in Vegas would wake up in the morning married to each other with screaming headaches wondering. huh? what happened last night?
And this…
Did he go to public schools? I mean, this kindergarten class must have been extremely advanced to have the teacher assign essays to her class. How many kids in kindergarten even know how to spell their full names?
and…
Sharp math skills? In kindergarten??? That would make him much smarter than the “World’s Smartest Woman,” wouldn’t it?
I never went to kindergarten, it was optional way back then. I seriously doubt any kindergartener would be writing essay, except to Santa Clause.
Even then it might include glue and glitter for lettering.
I think Hillary missed a few talking points. Perhaps I can help. Here is what she should have said:
“As a mother, it was just a horrible sense of bewilderment, confusion, outrage, frustration, anger, everything at the same time to learn that Senator Obama lied about his kindergarten record. Even though I was named after Sir Edmund Hillary, I did not want to climb mountains. I wanted to be an astronaut, mostly because NASA was very anti woman back then. After they changed their policy thanks to my efforts, I refocused my efforts on another glass ceiling.. the Presidency.”
“Faux News Alert”
Smoke Found!
Breaking new evidence has revealed the smoke Bill didn’t inhale went directly into Hillarys mouth, lungs, bloodstream and brain leaving long term affects that lead directly to mental illness.
film at 11:00
I applaud Obama, at least he aspired to something decent as opposed to Hillary who just wants to be a power weilding marxist.
I thought she was running for President…..My bad. I should have realized the campaign was for 3rd grade hall monitor.
Well, now that Hillary’s recent “crisis” with the psycho hostage taker has given “us all some insight into her presidential side”, I am just shocked that AmabO is leading in the near pointless Iowa cocka-doodle.
It is as if Hillary is counting on being able to submit a list of reasons to the voters- I mean it, a LIST- which articulate why she should be given not only the nomination, but the Presidency.
And then you have “Barry” Obama. The campaign “BOT”- “change. change. change. change. change.”
“Barry”- Boohbie- I “change” my socks every. I “change” my route to the post office. What the hell are you talking about?
Neither’s experience in Washington has amounted to a hill of hooey. Unless there is fresh evidence (i.e. files and paper trails) to suggest Hillary worked on other things beside the still-born Hillary care health boondoggle. Unless there is some bold legislative initiatives ObamaRama has authored which supports the notion that he can comprehend and materialize “change”.
Am I missing something with these two chuckleheads?
It insults the collective intelligence of each and every American voter.
Their voices make me wanna holler.
Aj, That explains her laughing on Fox News Sunday.
Shouldn’t the above read “Fuzzy Math Skills?”
Wow. How petty. When I was five I wrote that I wanted to be a bucking bronco rider. It didn’t happen.
This is like watching the Cowboys play the Patriots. I don’t have a dog in the fight. I want both sides to loose. In football that’s impossible, but here… just maybe.
Meanwhile I can pour myself a big, tall glass of domestic, non-Miller beer, kick my feet up, sit back and count the injuries.
How much does anyone want to bet Clinton will pull an October surprise in December?
well, I hope she doesnt jump out of a cake naked. ew.
Please…too close to dinner here. Don’t want to lose my appetite.
Okay people, get ready for some mental gymnastics.
Remember back on Jan 17, 2007 (posting date) when Insightmag.com made the charge that Obama was hiding his education as a young child in a Madrassa? The article was entitled “Hillary’s team has questions about Obama’s Muslim background.” Insight claimed that the information was leaked by the Clinton campaign to show that Obama was deceptive about his past. The Clinton campaign countered that this information was a typical “right-wing hit job” [always with the conspiracies] against Obama. I’m not sure if it was ever confirmed who actually leaked the charges that the Madrassa might link Obama to radical thoughts and upbringing (which were much in the news at the time, mostly with reference to Pakistan).
Anyway, the past is a bit blurry to me on this but apparently Obama lived in Indonesia from the ages of 6 to 10, or the years 1967 to 1971. He first attended a Catholic school and then a Muslim school (Basuki school). So unless Obama also spent some time in a kindergarden stateside before moving to Indonesia you’d think his kindergarden essay on wanting to be President could have been written in Jakarta. This leads me to the obvious question did he want to be President of the United States or of Indonesia? And of course the same question applies to his third grade essay! However in this case (if the teacher’s memory is correct) Obama only wanted to be “a” President. Someone needs to ask Obama about this, I guess.
What I find interesting about this is that the recent Clinton press release is basically saying the same thing as the original charge stated in Insightmag – that Obama is deceptive about his past. The press release also does not mention where Obama attended kindergarden or third grade with the possible oblique references to the teacher’s names, ‘Iis Darmawan and Fermina Katarina Sinaga, respectively, which could be casually construed as foreign names. Nor does the press release mention the words ‘Madrassa’ or ‘Muslim’, but maybe we should read between the lines?
My actual gut feeling is that the press release was written to make people think Obama attended kindergarden and third grade in the United States. Perhaps the fact that he was in Indonesia at the time was simply an oversight. On the other hand it may have been a direct omission to allow bloggers to dredge up the Madrassa issue again, allowing the Clinton campaign to keep its hands clean. In that case I fell for it hook line and stinker!
Here’s a link to the CNN story that debunked the radical nature of the Basuki Muslim school.
http://www.cnn.com/2007/POLITICS/01/22/obama.madrassa/index.html
To think that the candidates for each party will probably known by February 5 and that we’ll then be treated to 9 months of this kind of petty bull is just sickening.
By July, we’ll all want to take a vacation to Russia where politics is at least honest enough to be crooked.
As right_on said, this is drivel for the low IQ. Anyone who would find this line of campaigning enlightening or compelling are too stupid to be voting in the first place.
Geez, a couple of adults acting like a couple of immature children. And we’re supposed to trust these people with national security?
Jim C
Maybe these 2 could explain their respective plans for sealing the border. I am confused.
Vacation to Russia…. lol, as long as they dont have a Tropicana Hotel there.
I always enjoyed Kukla, Fran and Ollie better. but then, when you add Edwards…GAH!!! Now that is ruined too. Thanks alot Michelle. Now I have to go and wash my mind out with soap.
Pot. Kettle. Black.
Hillary has a lot of gall to be accusing anyone of having long term designs on the White House!!
At least Obama didn’t have his spouse effectively BUY his seat for him! Shrillary has been grabbing every bit of power she could riding the coattails of Ol’ Bill. The “co-presidency” was the first clue.
And this attack is so pathetic and toothless, I am almost embarassed for her.
Almost. I guess the endorsement of Obama by Oprah pushed her to this act of desperation.
I have yet to see a single significant thing that this woman has done that would make anyone think that she was worthy of the office of the president.
Is there some silverware that she forgot to steal on her way out in 2000?
“Wouldn’t it be nice to have Bill back in the Ehite House again?”
I do believe that was a direct quote that she has used during this campaign. If that isn’t pandering, then please, someone explain to me what pandering is.
I think Hillary is concerned that her carpetbagger label will soon came back to haunt her. She said she was not trying to become a senator just to have a platform to run for president.
John Kerry let his college classmates know that he wanted to be president. Now Obama is shown to be of the same mindset—he has such an ego he has already written two memoirs.
Dwight Eisenhower trusted no one anxious for high political office. Eisenhower wrote the following in his diary in 1953: “I feel that anyone who can, without great personal sacrifice, come to Washington to accept an important governmental post is not fit to hold that post. This, of course, is not true in some of the more technical and professional positions, and it unfair to assume that everyone should share my feelings in the matter when high positions are involved. But just the same, my respect and admiration for any individual who turns out to be a seeker after a political post diminishes almost to the vanishing point.”
No wonder everyone liked Ike.
Yeah how cool is this election so far?
Two Democrats arguing about how long each wanted to be President.
Two Republicans arguing about their religious beliefs
Meanwhile Rome burns…not literally of course but I think there are many more precious issue’s these idiots could be taking on.
Writting essays in kindergarten?
My BS meter just broke as it went off the scale.
Oh, for a medically induced coma until election day.
Didn’t someone debunk Hillary’s being named after
Sir Edmund Hillary by showing that the timeline was
all wrong? Woman lies when the truth is so much
simpler to tell. She either cannot help herself or she
knows she’s doing it and does it anyway. Is this who
anyone would want for president?
Duh.
I still believe Obama is a red herring;he’s just running interference for Hillary. As long as he and Hill can hog the headlines,Edwards et. al. will be ignored by the media, and forgotten by the public. This is the only way Hillary could solidify the Democratic base;force Dems to choose between her and one loser candidate, then have her opponent drop out and support her.
RANT WARNING RANT WARNING RANT WARNING
BEAR UP ON TWO LEGS SPOUTING OFF.
Vindication is cool. When the hostage taking crisis happened my first comment was that i prayed it was real and not a manufactured event.
Well, well, well….
Was listening to the lead-in to the Laura Ingraham Show tonite here in BerserkoBullshiteland– where the weather is balmy and my salami sub tastes even better because the guy who was making it in the deli moved me to the head of the line of a buncha tofuHeads chatting about Barry Obama.
Anyways— the lead on the show was about how the hostage was a green tooth urine smelling guy from the woods with two road flares stuck in his belt.
And the non-stop reporting on this non-story received 2 plus days of news coverage on the alphabet networks and cable stations.
Meanwhile the surge and Jack Murtha’s comments about how the surge is working can’t get even a mention.
It’s All News Hillary All the Time. This was her Katrina. This was her 9-11.
According to Ingraham. (to lazy to use my quote keys.)
It’s sickening all this manufactured sludge.
To top it off, one of the Clinton’s homosexual water boys is going after Michael Savage in support of CAIR’s efforts. It has Clinton fingerprints all over it– Podesta and company.
I have this gut feeling though that she is headed for a huge embarassment. The lead pipe cinch that these AssClowns think they have on the nomination is going to backfire.
It will take one silver bullet question asked of her in the national election debates to undo her.
And it won’t be one of the “prepared” questions. It will be a ricochet question coming out of something the other candidate brings up—and the moderator will ask her to address.
Clinton will step all over herself- worse than the drivers license question.
I hope her and AmabO tear each other to shreds to increase the amount of underwhelm in NASCAR and flyover country (do folks there even know these two exist?).
Donkelephant has an article on Obama is ahead of HRC with women who are most likely to attend a
caucus.
I thought all lib women were automatically behind
her..well, the more radical feminists for certain.
ROFL – I may have a new hero on this site. Sorry AJ!
To add:
It does not matter which is which. They are interchangable.
I remember the jr. Senator from New York in her 2006 re-electtion campaign were she was asked the question does she have any ambitions for rrunning for the Presidency in 2008? She said “I have no plans for running for President 2008 , I want to finish out my term as a US Senator from NY if re-elected and work hard for the great people of New York State. What a bunch of BS. Didn’t vote for her in 2000 nor in 2006. Every time she is on TV I say to my wife now there is an EVIL WOMAN.
Fixed it!
You bring up some VERY interesting points. Progressive thinking indeed. If this is indicative of the progressive cognitive thought process in action, than where does that leave the useful idiots?
Sad!
I think it is actually pretty easy to understand the Progressive way of thinking…it’s really very simple-ton.
A great example of Progressives in action is Uncle Hugo, down there in Wenezuela. Look at just whom he targets with his propaganda, and his “high-minded” programs.
The one thing neither country will run out of anytime soon, is un-educated, emotionally defective (who are the most easily swayed by the use of “negative” emotions) voters.
Writing essays in kindergarden? Gee, did they include footnotes and a bibliography? I barely knew I was alive, much less have ambitions to be someone when I grew up. I think the BS meter just went into the red zone. 2 people only interested in sitting in the Oval Office saying that they are President. Ambition over sense that will serve only to corrupt the office itself.
So … having ambitions is now a bad thing? O.o
I think the main point of the Clinton campaign in talking about his kindergarden and grade school presidential dreams was to dredge up the fact that he attended school at a young age in a foreign country. Someone did some polling and found some high negatives they could apply here. I’d bet ten buck that Clinton somehow works it into a future debate (if she hasn’t already). And the use of the word “essay” was just to make Obama sound like he was a precocious kid who is now too intellectual to connect with voters.
The Clintons will sink into any sewer to destroy an opponent. The opponent’s political views, race or religion makes no difference to the Clintons. If that person stands in the way of the Clintons, the Clintons, aided by their friends at the MSM and the NY Times will do the bidding of the Clintons. One thing that the MSM never asks Hillary Clinton. You claimed for many years that you were named after Sir Edmund Hillary. Yet Edmund Hillary made his historic Mount Everest summit in 1953, several years after you were born. Your parents obviously had not heard of him when you were born. Do you want to admit that you lied when you made the claim about how you were named?
What are the odds of any reporters at the New York Times raising this issue? About zero.
Now let’s see how this works. Hillary refuses to release her White House records, but she somehow wants Obama to come up with the essay he wrote in kindergarten about wanting to be president.
It does not take a village to know how incredibly ridiculous this looks for a number of reasons.
First, the Hillarylanders are giving Obama credit for being this brillant four-year old, capable of writing essays while most kids at age four are just learning the alphabet and do not have the small motor skills required to color inside the lines.
Second, Hillary shows really bad judgement by surrounding herself with these bubbleheads. If this is how she acts before even nominated, just imagine the types of advisors she would pick if chosen president. Just imagine who she’d send to the UN.
Third, if this group cannot even figure out age appropriate behaviour for a kindergartner, how can they possibly figure out how to handle Medicare or for older people or health care for that matter.
Fourth, the Hillarylanders just gave their major opponent, Obama, an incredible compliment.
Next, we’re gonna hear Hillary say that she didn’t know anything about the news blast put out by her staff. She didn’t know anything about Whitewater, Monica, Travelgate, the Rose law firm billing records, etc.
Yep…way to go Hillary…
