The Muslim speech police are after Mark Steyn:
Up north, the Canadian Islamic Congress announced the other day that at least two of Canada’s “Human Rights Commissions” – one federal, one provincial – had agreed to hear their complaints that their “human rights” had been breached by this “flagrantly Islamophobic” excerpt from my book, as published in the country’s bestselling news magazine, Maclean’s. Several readers and various Canadian media outlets have enquired what my defense to the charges is. Here’s my answer:
I can defend myself if I have to. But I shouldn’t have to.
If the Canadian Islamic Congress wants to disagree with my book, fine. Join the club. But, if they want to criminalize it, nuts. That way lies madness.

As usual, well said. Such complaints are part of the soft jihad against the West. Muslims find their Islam indefensible so they seek to suppress criticism of it. The approved solution to such a contemptible attack on free speech is more criticism, scathing criticism, boiling criticism, in industrial quantities.
I hope Mark finds a way to push back. Savage is pushing back at CAIR. These people cannot be allowed to get a toe hold or we will wake up to find we have to whisper in our own homes. Then, it will be to late.

This is another example on how difficult it is to fight Islam’s creep. It is like being attacked by a million cockroaches. You can easily crush hundreds or thousands, but they just keep coming until you are smothered. The islamists don’t have to have a central control. They just need a common purpose to point them in the same direction. It doesn’t help that while you’re trying to fight off the roaches the US-haters are trying to put hand-cuffs on you.
Well said Rohan. I concur. I just pray that we all have courage to fight to the end and at no point give in to despondency. Lord knows I’m tempted sometimes to just throw my hands up in the air and then pack up the fam and head for the mountains.
I applaud Mr. Styen for his stand against the Islamic fascists. I find his columns interesting, educational, and well written. He is a true success story of a legal immigrant who waited in line to become a US citizen. America needs more people with his insight and love for our way of life. This story reminds us to not only secure our southern border, but our northern border is wide open to another lethal threat from these fanatics of the moon god.
I find Mr. Savage a little harsh for my taste, but he also understands the threat we face from the medieval death cult of Islam and the goals of CAIR. His stand against them through the courts allows more light to shine on this corrupt terrorist supporting organization, which should loose any tax-free protections. I wish him success in against these perpetual whinners.
I am always suprised at what whining wussies these Islamic “men” are. They act like my pre-teens – “Stop looking at me!!” Grow up.

Schweggie – Thanks for the nice words. Like you, there are times I feel like heading to the mountains and let the world go to pieces without me. However,I have two young kids. I have to stay and fight for them.
“Soft jihad” – that’s a new term for me. I like it.
Ultimately, it will be this kinder, gentler form of jihad that will topple the West because it is so thoroughly poisoned by liberalism that it has no cultural immunity to the virus of Islamofascism. People are so scared of being called intolerant that they will cheerfully cut their own throats rather than be accused of being mean.
Of course, this hypersensitivity toward religion does not apply to Christians (i.e. Jesus freaks, godbags) or Mormons (i.e. cultists like Scientologists, but worse because they have celebs like the Osmonds while Xenu has Tom Cruise and John Travolta following him.)
The analogy of Islamists to cockroaches is very appropriate! You cannot compromise with them. You cannot make accommodations with them. You cannot take a “live and let live” approach with them. They keep coming at you until they get what they want. Which is the elimination of everything we hold dear including this country!
We must fight and eliminate these cockroaches! Contact that list of companies and let them know you won’t do business with them because of their defeatist approach. Contribute to Michael Savage’s legal defense fund. Lobby your senators and representatives to not let anymore of these cockroaches into this country and close our borders!
Sorry this sounds harsh to some of you with your heads in the sand but we have a real problem with Islam and the sooner we deal with it effectively, the better.

I’d tell anyone complaining about Islamophobia as a violation of “human rights” that they can talk to me when they begin classifying the treatment of women under Islam as a violation of human rights. You know, the practices that:
Force women to wear head-to-toe burquas
Punish female rape victims as adulterers
Allow men to kill/maim women for “honor”
Count a woman’s court testimony as worth a quarter of a man’s
Cuts off the fingers of women who wear nail polish
Mutilate women under the guise of “female circumcision”
And the list could go on.
Tantor in #18 has a grain of truth. Many who thought communism was the wave of the future moved to communist nations and realized quickly their beloved utopia was a lie.
Perhaps we should send a few liberals to live in Tehran and then have them realize what shari’a law would do to their lifestyles.

There is a HUGE difference between Communism and Islamofascism. The Commies here thought that they were bringing “social justice” to the “oppressed” – it was viewed as a purification of society of greed, etc. (Not that they were looking to become less bourgeois.)
No one in the West is looking at Islamofascism as a good thing as much as they are seeking to appease the monster by offering up everyone else first in hopes that it will sate itself before eating them. Like the joke says, “I don’t need to outrun the bear; I just need to outrun YOU!”
There are also strains of the inherent anti-Semitism and anti-Christianity bigotry of liberalism at play. Anything that seeks to destroy Jews and Christians is A-OK to the heathen liberals. Sure, they’re ignoring that their infidel arses will be just as targeted, but since when has reality interferer with their “reality-based existence”?

just to see what they had. On the right side is a link for “Cartoons and Freedom,” which is a well written but academic piece which equates the Danish Mohammed cartoons to German Jewish cartoons in the 1930s and argues that the freedom to publish such cartoons leads to dehumanizing the subjects. The author posits that the Islamic protests against the cartoons are necessary to prevent a recurrence of the holocaust, with Muslims the victims this time. Again, it was a well written academic piece. I think it makes the case that cartoons demeaning to any group do not help the debate.
The problem, though, is that the author totally ignores the “behead those who insult Islam” crowd and the homicide bombers and the general terroristic nature of a vary significant group of Muslims which is totally unmatched within any other religious group. In the context of the existence of this terroristic group, and if you buy the premise that the cartoons are really demeaning to Muslims, publishing the Danish cartoons may have the unintended secondary consequence of being demeaning to Muslims but I believe the intended consequence is to show that the Emperor has no clothes and to defy the terrorists, both of which are acts of courage.
No…CAIR would probably sue me or try to have me arrested for “thought crimes.”

As a Christian woman, I have a STRONG vested interest in combatting shari’a law and stopping the caliphate. They (jihadists) will bury me before I submit or convert or subjugate myself. And I’ll make sure I take a few of them with me before I go out.
Quite frankly, I’ll be damned if I am forced to wear a burqua or worry whether or not my children will be kidnapped and ransomed or my husband murdered for being Christian.

This thread has had a few hints of heading for the mountains, etc. I’m all for doing that myself, if the purpose is to organize the resistance against rampant Islam-ization and illegal boarder-jumpers in the U.S. Rather than accept our “do nothing federal government”, liberals in general, PC courts and companies that roll over to both of these groups, perhaps a 2nd American Revolution will be necessary. Those of us that totally disagree with how things are going in this country today (our rapid slide toward 3rd world status) are at a distinct disadvantage given the stacked deck of the MSM, public schools, colleges and universities, many unions, the courts, PC organizations such as the ACLU, etc. They are organized to the liberal cause which provides “aid and comfort” to those that wish to do us harm. We are not organized or ready to resist – yet.

I have this great document you should read. It’s called The US Constitution. Pay close attention to the section referred to as the Bill of Rights. You may find them interesting.
Be careful for what you wish. A government powerful enough to restrict how many children muslims have can restrict how many you have.

Restrictions on birth limits are abhorrent (in most circumstances). I ran into a bushel of liberals who, when Ms. Duggar of Arkansas gave birth to her 16th child, called for her to be “spayed”.
I would fully expect a socialized health care system to force me (and those who share my beliefs) to be sterilized or artificially contracept.
The horrors inflicted on Chinese women and girls for the sake of the state’s one-child policy are beyond the stuff of nightmares. Force abortions, infanticide, sterilization. So unbalanced are the gender ratios that men outnumber women 2 to 1.
None of it is within the realm of human dignity and should not be allowed as law on ANY group.
The answer is for the birthrate of Europeans, Canadians, and Americans to INCREASE.
Unfortunately, the enemy is well-funded and taking full advantage of plaintiff-friendly British libel laws, Canada’s obsession with extreme political correctness, and the U.S.’s litigiousness to attack anyone who dares criticize The Religion of Peace(TM). France, Italy, and other European countries set up those hate speech laws as a way to stymie the next “Mein Kampf,” not realizing that all it does is stymie any sort of controversial speech, something that the enemy has also taken advantage of. Western leftists do nothing because as far as they are concerned, they’re happy to shut people like Michael Savage or Mark Steyn up. They think they’re in a win-win situation, silencing their opposition and appeasing the crocodile so he won’t eat them.

The magazine’s editor, Kenneth Whyte has said “I would rather go bankrupt than let somebody from outside of our operations dictate the content of the magazine.” Of course these self-righteous Human Rights Tribunals seem to take comfort in that outcome. There is an alternative Muslim group that seems to have some contact with reality, who will win?
What if a large body of people within the United States observed a well documented set of laws rather than the constitution, and what if this same body of people pledge allegiance to a country other than the United States, and what if this shadow government was not compatible with our democratic/republic form of government, and what if this shadow government professed to a large body of documented civil rights violations. Would we allow such a shadow government to function in America with all the rights and privileges of a religion. I think we would not.
I now ask, what is the Nation of Islam to which Muslims pledge their allegiance. I now ask, what is Sharia law that governs the Nation of Islam. What is the Koran, other than a body of documents that violates civil rights (freedom of speech, freedom of artistic expression, freedom of the written word). Should not such a body be excommunicated from the United States.

Yes, of course it should. However, the truth is the Bible does not trample on anyone’s civil rights. The bible is basis for such freedoms.

Unfortunately I’m stuck with AT&T for a couple years with my cell service. I did, however, return the new AT&T land line telephone I purchased at Wal-Mart a couple weeks ago.
And I ask again as to why the Savage/CAIR lawsuit wasn’t covered by Michelle? One could almost symbolically add her to the above list.
As for the advertisers who cave to CAIR, they are simply sinking their own boats.
The purpose of their ads is to keep their brands out there in the public eye.
When they remove their brand from a micro market of over 10,000,000 listeners, do they really believe that they are going to entice that many Moslems to buy their stuff, or, at least, reduce the liklihood that those spend happy Moslems are going to spend their money somewhere else?
No. That doesn’t make sense. They are simply afraid CAIR will use the same shakedown model as Sharptongs and Hi-Jackson.

Savage is a pit rhino. This one is going to impale CAIR on the horn of American patriotism. CAIR has outworn its novelty and “multi-culti” capital.
And they are acting a little schteppid too. Savage has challenged their methods, their alliances in the Dhimmicratic party, and incensed the Media Matters crowd for sometime.
Now CAIR is being used as the pawn against Savage. So there will be a full frontal engagement where Savage can layout the evidence of CAIR’s connections and their web of support in the US….all of it summonable by subpoena.

A poster, who logged on prior to mine, listed those companies and corporations who have pulled ads because of CAIR pressure. My suggestion is we, as a majority pull our support of those companies and corportations. Let us see if they prefer the support of .01% of the population to that of the rest of us. How long do you think Wal Mart would survive on only its Islamic customers? If you are an armed American citizen. Do yourself a favor and take note of where muslim facilities exist. It is good information to have incase of a conflict.
In terms of backing Savage, timing is everything.
Also, I am not one to believe that things are always what they appear to be.
If this blog were mine, I wouldn’t draw fire for the sake of having people believe I was doing the right, albeit obvious, thing.
I’ve not read much about Savage from MM’s perspective on this blog.
I have read more about Steyn. So it makes sense that his emerging troubles would get some play here.
In no way do I offer this as some sophomoric defense of MMs editorial decisions, or to try and think for her or any other kind of ploy.
I do believe, however, that there are plenty of battles to choose from— and choices do not always explain what appears to be happening.
I’m glad someone gets it…Islam is NOT a religion! It is “a set of laws,” written by a meglomaniacal pedophilic warlord to keep his troops, and followers in line. There is nothing that I have read in the Quran, or elsewhere for that matter, that is religious, save the repeated saying, “God Willing.” Do you think just invoking the word “God” (or Allah) makes a person religious?
Read the passages in the Quran, if you can get over the simple nature in which it was written, and look for religious messages that are not coupled with threats or violence. This compilation of rules has been used for generations to keep the masses under the thumb of those few in the Islamic heirarchy. Name anything good achieved in the name of Islam.

Lighten up a little, have some cool aid.
Those who think that communism is far different from militant Islam should read David Horowitz’s book Unholy Alliance. Unfortunately, Western intellectuals have grown up on an expectation of being the ruling class, thanks to Plato’s Republic, and had their appetites whetted by the French Revolution and Marxism. Jihad gives these evil life-haters the opportunity they have sought for two centuries to finally overthrow the hated (classically) liberal democratic republic that we now enjoy.
Islamists know they an use Western style Democratic principles to inculcate themselves into power and then they take over voting sharia law into place. Happens over and over. Won’t be long before Britain, France, and Germany will be gone. The north European countries are only now waking up, but I fear it it too late. How long before the USA is taken over from within? Parts of Minnesota and Michigan are now gone and fully Islamic. It will spread like cancer everywhere.

Whether it comes from socialist democrats or Islamic “fundamentalists” or organizations like the ACLU or the Security and Prosperity Partnership, the ultimate goal is the same for all of them. They will not rest until America is destroyed. As Americans, the time for us to make our choice has already come and gone. Like Frnace, Germany, Denmark, England and Spain, I fear our time to do anything may have already come and gone as well.
Personally, I hope I am wrong on all accounts but I seriously doubt it. As far as covering Michael Savage, the fact that everyone here seems to already know about it indicates to me that he does not lack any publicity. MM’s editorial choices are for her to make. I no more question her editorial judgment than I do Michael Savage’s suit against these America Haters. As for me? I will support them both.

Yo 30pcs #42, I was not speaking of the Bible but rather the Koran. I clearly identified the Koran as a body of documents that violates civil rights.
I was wondering where any patriotic American conservative or liberal can come to Savages’s defense, where He does have a true liberal attorney defending him. Its time to get rid of these demons who want to get rid of our way of life here in the USA. Savage seems to be CAR’s number one target and then who would be next? MSM folks after they clear out the conserviative ones?
