If the races had been reversed in this monstrous crime, Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton would already have booked their private planes on the first flight out to Baltimore. Via The Examiner:
As Sarah Kreager, 26, tried to sit down on a Baltimore City bus Tuesday, police say, a middle-schooler told her she couldn’t. When she attempted to take another seat, a middle-schooler wouldn’t let her. Finally, according to police, Kreager just sat down.
She was “immediately attacked” by nine students — three females and six males — from Robert Poole Middle School. They punched and kicked her at 2:59 p.m. at the intersection of 33rd Street and Chestnut Avenue, according to Maryland Transit Administration police.
Kreager was dragged off the bus and her boyfriend, Troy Ennis, attempted to get her back on, police said.
She sustained “serious injuries” and had to be transported to the University of Maryland Shock Trauma Center, according to a police report.

Two seats and the bus’ rear glass were destroyed during the attack, police said.

All nine suspects, ages 14 and 15, were arrested and charged with aggravated assault…
…The suspects in the incident are black. The victim is white, according to the police report.

Bear…I don’t believe the poster was implicating all black people. It’s not “blackness” perse it’s more about inner city culture. We all know not all blacks are like this by any means but a culture of them (and other races) ARE. I believe it was that culture, that speaks like that, was what he was referring to.

While I’ll be the first to agree with your statement, I would imagine that had the victim or her “boyfriend” (and I use the term loosley) been carrying and had shot one of these “innocent children”, then the good Reverends would already be in Baltimore, drumming up support for more gun control laws and demanding monetary satisfaction in the name of the families.

Anyone who believes the Baltimore Sun report is either blind, ignorant, or both.
The TV report posted in #69 is the accurate piece. The Sun reporters will go out of their way to paint the victims in this case as the bad guys. Trust me on this.
I have a long history with the Sun and I know the area of this assault very well having been a cop about 10 miles from Baltimore. Many of my friends are still active duty cops in Baltimore and I speak with them quite often.
The entire Baltimore Washington corridor is one huge crime zone. Like it or not, race based crimes are a fact of life in that area and it is not racist to say that. It is a fact and it’s been that way for a very long time.
the shame is that no matter what the race, 9 ganged up on one and beat her to a pulp. whether it was getting caught up in the moment with their peers or not, it is obivous that there is no sense of right or wrong. just the narcissistic “i am right in everything i do because it made me feel ________”. (Fill in the blank to justify the moment.)
this mentatlity is on the left in bigger numbers, but i have seen in on the right as well. parents do not want to parent cause it is hard work. it is easier to be ‘cool’. some parents take it as a frontal attack on them if you mention their kids need correcting.
as i stated before, we are in a state of lawlessness. vigilantism (as seen in texas) will be the only thing that corrects this anarchy, at least I am afraid that is what it will take. the judicial system is full of liberals, unless we start impeaching them, these types will not be punished as they should.

I note that a homeowner shot and killed two criminal illegal aliens from Colombia in war zone Houston. Heard the recent new law says you can defend yours and your neighbor’s property there. In any case, better to be judged by twelve jurors than carried by six pallbearers.

I have a difficult time accepting that she spat in the face of one of these kids. That simply doesn’t make any sense, especially when you consider the fact that she tried sitting in another seat. Sounds like someone who was trying to avoid confrontation.

Also, if the owner of that quote was referring to “that culture” that is enough of a generalization about “blackness”.
It must also be pointed out, that unless you are in the head of the owner of that quote, you cannot speak to the motive.
The impact is: the owner of the quote made a sarcastic remark that was bigoted. Because there are millions of us out here who live with black folks and do not AGREE with that way of referring to our friends and loved ones.
And I would dare the owner of that statement to say those exact words in that same way here in the midst of my friends.
While you are busy addressing the intent of the owner of that quote, I am addressing the impact of it. The impact on me. And the people who will be reading that trash being spewed.
That matters. Doesn’t suggest the kids arent wrong and shouldn’t be punished. I was very clear that they should be tried and punished. And if there is a psych evaluation done properly that finds they “hate” white folks— then bring on the treatment. It’s all we have.

I can’t excuse TexasAC’s comment. But, I can say, given the commenter’s reported age, it doesn’t necessarily surprise me. I remember, back when I was an undergrad, driving in San Antonio with my Oma (b. 1911) and her sister (Dad was still stationed in Germany), and when we drove by a youth center not far from the senior apartment complex in which they lived, and there was a group of minority youths (don’t recall if they were black or Hispanic), they said things indicating they assumed that group was up to no good. Did that racist mindset get passed down to the following generations? No.
And as for white on minority vs. minority on white crime, I don’t recall where, but I have seen those stats before somewhere, so xler8bmw wasn’t just pulling “facts” out of thin air.

#105 All one has to do to get a good picture of what you are talking about is watch that great show The Wire on HBO. Some really nasty suckers in the schools and on the streets. I imagine Philly and other urban areas are not much different.

I work in juvvy justice and it is indeed geared more toward rehabilitation than punishment. Yes, I think this is ridiculous. Rehabilitation is fine for a one-time shoplifter, not fine for thuggery such as this incident.
What I find especially appalling is how the MSM and the justice system has a double standard when it comes to these types of incidents. The Jena 6 gave the message that black kids have earned one free shot at any white victim due to past injustices that happened to other people.

The most racist people in the US are (and have been for a generation) what are described as minorities. Plainly said, they are black, hispanic and muslim. Sometimes all three. (Have I missed any major category? I think not.)
In my entire adult life, there have been areas in every major city where a white person risks his life at the hands of ‘minorities’ aka ‘disadvantaged’ aka liberal label of the month. In spite of Jesse Jackson and Al Sharpton the reverse is hardly true. In fact, it has been never true.

Actually Bear, you are correct, FBI stats clearly show that race based crimes are not anywhere near the majority. Most crime, including white collar, is committed by Caucasions.
At least that was the case during my entire law enforcment career and I doubt that it has changed since I retired. But, having said that, I can personally attest to the fact that this area is not an area where caucasions frequent so the likelihood that this was an unprovoked attack is high

What if somebody else on the bus was armed and started shooting back?
What would the speculation be about that scenario?
What if their weaponry was superior in caliber and say in number and your character was killed?
What use did it serve to make your comment in the first place?

I take your point, and I admit to being ignorant of Americanisms from 75 years ago, I’ve lived herein this country for just 21 years.
But the majority of the opinions expressed in this thread have been about the double standard that is imposed by the MSM and the Jesse Jacksons of this world.
If only they could get as upset by the black on white crimes as they do for the white on black. These apologists only hurt the cause they are supposedly fighting for, and give reasonable people doubts as to their real intents.

Okay, most of us get it…can we please get back to the subject?
Sociopathic teenagers, who happen to be black, attacked a woman, who happened to be white, removed her from the bus (hint: kidnapping), and stomped her.
Remove the caveats, and does it lessen the crimes that were committed? No. The “fact” that black youths committed the crimes on a white woman naturally adds a racial component.
Had the 26 year old woman been any other race, does anyone think this incident would have occurred?
Too bad the boyfriend wasn’t armed. My husband and I both have concealed permits and would have been able to defend ourselves.

To say that I am not surprised that once again, the Liberals of this site, such as Rusty and the bunch, are overwhelmingly silent on this subject, as they always seem to be, would be an understatement no matter how you would say it. To go back and read all that was posted from them about the Jena Six, how they felt about them, how they were just misunderstood youths and all the tripe that came out about them, and then the deafening silence uppon news of this viscious attack by 13 year olds upon a defensless woman who’s only crime was to sit down on a bus seat, is so telling as to their true character and their actual preconceptions that it would take more time and space than is alotted here to get into.
I would love to hear from the Liberals as to why there is no outrage towards this attack. I would love to hear how it is the Conservatives, or “whitey’s” or Republican’s, or whoever the scapegoat du’jour is’ fault as to why this pack of thugs felt the need to attack like primatives and do everything they could to destroy another human beiong. Where are the calls of “Hate Crime”? Obviously this woman was of not the same color as they were. Were the races switced, it would not have been longer than a nano-second before “Hate Crime” would have been uttered. Where is Geraldo? Why aen’t there wall to wall coverage on all the media outlets trying to figure out why there is such a problem with the race hatred between the groups involved? Is it because the victim was white?

Conveniently, we were in the hall outside the main office, coming back from lunch. Marched that little boy into the office and filled them in on his behavior: pretending to pee on a couple of classmates (which I saw), reporting biting someone at recess, using inappropriate language. Later in the afternoon, his special ed teacher let me know he’d have the boy for the rest of the afternoon, and even later, he let me know the boy hadn’t taken his meds that morning. Just wait until this boy makes it to middle school, if he keeps this up…

First of all, when I was talking about crime statistics I was referring to all crimes. I stand by my earlier post.
Secondly, there are geographical areas in every jurisdiction that are “high crime” areas. To deny that is to be unrealistic.
These areas can be predominantly black or predominantly white, and in some cases they can be of mixed race. I did not say that only black areas are high crime. I said that the area where this assault occured is a high cirme area that is predominantly black occupied. I know because I have been there and I know many cops who work that area.
The facts of this case as reported by the Sun are, in my opinion, not likely to be proven as fact. I also suspect that some facts as stated by the victim are questionable also.
Anyone that makes racist statements on this board should be banned. I have worked with police officers and soldiers of all races and I can attest to the fact that there are good and bad of every race. We are all Americans and no one should be allowed to bring this discussion down to the level of hate that some have expressed already.
#121 not sure what your concern is. I have no great sympathy if some criminal punk gets blown away. He chooses to be a sociopath. How many evil mutants would continue their acts if they knew they might face people standing up to them or if they didn’t get slapped on the wrist for their past crimes?
Around here in Palm Beach county Florida, I am aghast to see how race plays such an important role in okaying aberrant behavior which is enabled by the various minority communities. If a cop does something to protect himself or the community at large and some poor misunderstood punk is hurt or killed, that cop will be hung out to dry and the absent daddy of the dead kid will collect big bucks from the taxpayers.
My own personal defense concerns right now are worrying about loose dogs. Recently a pitbull attacked a man and his dog outside a coffee shop. People threw hot coffee on dog and hit it on head with a flower pot. It would not let go and man had thirty puncture wounds in his arm. Finally a cop was summoned and after pepper spray and taser did nothing to control the dog, said dog was shot and then ran off.
What amuses me is that the owner of the vicious cur said her baby would never bite anyone and should not have been killed. NO ONE wants to take responsibility for their actions. Why aren’t the present laws ENFORCED? At least Guliani made some effort to give criminals reason to consider their antisocial behaviors. Throw the damn book at the scofflaws. Stop giving federal funds to “sanctuar” cities. Get rid of the judges who have so much sympathy for pathological behavior. Yada yada. And god help us, please don’t stick us with another jimmuh carter type in that Arkie preacher Huckabee.

Either way, this entire incident would have been avoided. The majority of you live in states with “Shall Issue” laws for concealed carry of self-defense weapons. see http://www.atr.org/special/maps/data/shall_issue_04.pdf to see if your state is one of them.
Bottom line? Punks of all flavors are everywhere. Cops cannot protect you - they can respond to a call and arrest the bad guys, but they cannot protect you. If enough people would “Taze” the snot out of enough of these punks, we would not have as many problems. Period.
And if tazing a couple of them does not slow the pack down, see #2 above…

Sounds like they need bus cameras like we have here in Chicago. Don’t see so much carving slogans into the windows and such any more.
I remember before security cameras a naive security guard from work decided to tell some kids on the bus to stop carving up the windows one day, and later arrived at work with some ‘colorful eyes’ and other injuries, though nothing serious.

here in Illinois, you can’t carry a concealed weapon, period. Shortly after I got my FOID card, I asked a friend who is a police officer here what I have to do to get a concealed handgun permit. He said, “move to another state.” He also said that HE would even have to arrest me if he saw that I had one in a holster or in my pocket (like a 380 or some other pocket sized back-up weapon). My dad lives in Indiana, and carries his .38 with him every time he leaves the house. When he comes to visit here, odds are he has it on him. When I mentioned that he could be cited or arrested for it, he simply said that the federal government has not rescinded the 2nd Amendment, so he’ll carry it wherever and whenever he wants.
I COULD carry a concealed weapon here if I were a law enforcement agent or ex-military (I believe… someone from IL correct me if I am wrong). As luck would have it, I’ve been thinking about joining the reserve police force or sheriff’s department as a reserve deputy, so I may find myself in a position to carry soon. I don’t know that I’ll ever have to draw my gun on another person in my lifetime (and I sincerely hope I don’t), but incidents like this and the mall shooting yesterday sure make me wish state’s would allow concealed carry, at least for people who are willing to complete a range test or gun safety course. I’d feel a lot safer knowing 1 out of 4 responsible citizens riding that bus were prepared to defend themselves and other passengers if a bunch of thugs tried to put a stunt like this. I know a lot of people argue that allowing citizens to carry will only escalate violence, but I really think it will deter it more often than not. When a creep or gang of creeps is out looking to victimize someone, they are counting on the average Joe following the ridiculous gun band laws… of course, when law-abiding people are disarmed, criminals still have and will be able to get guns. It doesn’t seem that hard to understand, to me.
I for one am pretty disappointed that this thread, (with a legitimate story and point, no less) has been turned into having to explain to certain posters that their comments are shameful, and unacceptable instead of focusing on the real problem here.

If I had been on that bus, I don’t know what I could have done to intervene, beyond calling 911 on my cell phone, or yelling “stop”. I am short of stature, and I’m willing to bet several, if not most, of these thugs are bigger than me. I am not licensed to concealed carry (nor have I ever even fired a gun for any reason whatsoever), and I am not trained in self-defense. I would have hated that feeling of helplessness had I been on that bus…

Bear: Hate to disagree with you my friend, but there are definately places you just do not go to as a white person…EVER. However, there is not a similar issue for other races when entering white areas. I do believe, TX Tiger, that you spray the dog. In my
case, I would probably get it turned around, spray
myself and aggressive dog would fall on ground laughing its tail off while I made my escape. I carry
pepper spray and have yet to have to use it. Usually,
a stern go home works for me but then I have yet to
run into a truly mean dog. Guess you could beat dog
with it but owner would probably sue you.
Violent crime is violent crime, & motive is irrelevant. Those who would commit such an act do not fear punishment for obvious reasons. The most these “individuals” will receive is a few months in juvi. (not a deterrent)
Society functions best when those who would violate the individual, fear the wrath of the collective.
