Report: Another beating on a Baltimore bus

Jeff Quinton alerted me this morning to another reported beating on a Baltimore bus involving an alleged racially motivated attack on white passengers by a group of young black riders. I waited to see if more evidence would develop today before posting. Copycat incidents are unfortunately a concern. Well, WBAL reported on the incident last night–and follows up with surveillance video today showing the alleged attackers. It took city officials three days to release photos of the suspect:
“We were saying the whole time to the driver, ‘You need to help us, call the police,’” [Patrick] Green told 11 News reporter Kerry Cavanaugh. “He said, ‘I can’t. I’ll get in trouble.’”
Roth said the driver closed the door and drove away, even though the attack continued once they got off the bus.
“We could’ve been left on the side of the road, dead,” [Robert] Rothe said.
MTA officials said the driver of the bus is currently not operating a vehicle while the incident is being investigated.
MTA officials said they’re not currently classifying the incident as a hate crime. They said they’re simply calling it a common assault.
Green and Rothe said they’re mad it took MTA officials three days to release photos of the suspects.
Anyone with information is asked to call MTA police at 410-454-7720.
The victims say the driver refused to help. None of the other passengers helped, either, according to the victims. The investigation continues.
Meanwhile, the first assault case involving Sarah Kreager and her boyfriend moves forward. Prosecutors are mulling charging some of the teens as adults.
A decision is expected by Christmas.
Charm City has lost its charm.

I can absolutely guarantee that if it were a group of whites attacking a couple of “african-americans” the MTA would’ve had the video out within hours under the title “Hate Crime”.

When I lived in PA, I had my CCW permit. I now live in the Socialist Republik of Kalifornia, and I can’t get a CCW.
So, what have I resorted to? Something that’s easier and legal here in KA. Believe it or not, you can carry a Taser.

Well of course they are, because it is turning INTO a common assault. So common that there seems to be an attack on a white person by a roving gang of black thugs just about every other day in that town.
While it is common, it is by for not a “Hate Crime”. On the contrary. As opposed to what the one victim was saying, when he was complaining that these poor young children were saying, “White this and white that…”, they were merely using the term white as a descriptive word and not in the derogatory form that he was thinking. IF anything, the hate crime is clearly against him for racially profiling these kids. Just because they were describing him as white does not mean they were using it as a racial slang and therefore he was trying to encite the violence and thusly deserved to be beaten. HE incited hundreds of years of pent up feelings within these four young lads who only had visions of sugar plums and Santa Clause in their minds on their way to their Aunties and grandma’s houses.
I would like to know how you would have reacted. There is clearly a problem in this city with the way Whites are treating the black youths. They are clearly setting them up to where there is nothing they can do without appearing to get into trouble. they can’t even ride the bus. DO you really think for one minute that if these white men were getting “attacked” as hey claim they were that the bus driver would have just sat there and not called the police?

The Baltimore Police need to put white under cover cops on the buses. Otherwise these types of crimes will happen with even more frequently. It’s obvious that punks like these think that this is cool now. If the cops don’t crack down quickly, then sooner or later an armed white citizen will shoot some of the punk scum and the armed citizen will be made out to be the racist. The blacks will call him or her another Bernard Gietz.

heh, this reminds me of an incident my freshman year of high school. I was taking the public bus home and there were a bunch of “african americans” on it. A few white “nerds” tried to go sit in “the back of the bus” (ironic, no?) and were thusly given a butt-whooping. What did these african-american youths do? Why of course, they all jumped out of the EMERGENCY WINDOWS and left, leaving these poor kids bloody on the floor. What did the bus driver do? Pull over and wait for her supervisor to come. Since then, I never took the public bus again.

I just don’t see how anyone can take offense at being called “white this” or “white that” I mean, it is the same as being called “gringo” or “cracker” and they use those words on UPN and other TV shows all the time. As far as this hate crime thing goes, NO ONE SHOULD BE CHARGED WITH A HATE CRIME! The thoughts of the accused go to motive, and should lead to more severe sentencing if the the prosecution successfully identifies it in a court of law.
Instead, legislation leaves us on the slippery slope of weakly defining which actions will be charged, which leaves juries (the 12 idiots that we call our peers) to decide the defendants crime, and takes the burden off the lazy prosecutors.

This story is disgusting, and it is racism. But arrest and charge the kids, and fire the bus driver for not living up to his charge as a municipal employee, and upholding the public good and safety.

These two stories remind me of a visit to my Aunt’s house in Glen Burnie in the late 70′s. My cousins and I were leaving an afternoon concert in Baltimore and noticed we were being followed by a half dozen or so black kids. Nearly at our car they rushed us, we pulled our pants belts off and started swinging. We made it out ok but it was the first time I was ever assaulted.
When I read this headline this morning, it reminded me of that moment and then Tom Clancy’s book “Without Remorse”. The story of how John Clark (John Kelly) came to the CIA.
Incidents like this just breed copy cat attacks. How long before it spreads to NYC, Boston, Atlanta, Chicago, etc? Attacks carried out teen hoods who are ‘gonna show the man that those punks in Baltimore ain’t got nuttin on the homeboy. In Vegas they are already shooting each other at bus stops. In Atlanta, near the Six Flags amusement park about 6 months ago we had an incident like this which left a kid in critical condition in the hospital for about 2 weeks. It does worry me but at times I use public transportation to commute back and forth from work. Let’s say that I am much more aware now and getting a Concealed carry permit is moving up the priority list.
They will keep doing it as long as they feel they can get by with it. White America is not a protected class and by virtue of that line of reasoning therefore fair game.
But hey Baltimore has that alleged murderer Ray Lewis as a superstar so who do you think the kids are going to emulate. Around here Lewis is considered more then alleged, just another rich guy with good lawyers.

It’s being taught in the universities. So, if you happen to make something of yourself and are pursuing higher learning… You don’t come out unscathed. You come out thinking the white man is still trying to persecute you. I had a friend tell me that I “need” to sign up for an African American studies class. Apparently, my thought processes weren’t “black” enough for her. Recall the directive that came out from Delaware University.
Somebody is fostering this idea and it is coming from liberals.
The black community is ripe with its issues. Crime, drugs, out of wedlock births, traditional family values – non-existent and it’s glorified. BET, MTV, rap music, etc., all glorify this lifestyle.
Just last night I had an argument with my younger brother (he’s 27) and doing absolutely squat with his life. He only calls me when he needs something, more specifically, he only calls me when he wants money. Last time we spoke he managed to get money from our mother on my word that I would pay her back. That was a lie. So, he calls me up this time – no apology for lying on me or for stealing from me. Instead he gives me attitude, like I owe him something. In fact, he tried to make me feel bad, (his usual tactics)I’m lonely, your judging me, I don’t need you, you think you are better than me, etc… Really, I think I am better than you but you call me asking me for money. So, my “status” is good enough as long as you get what you want. The point I am trying to make here is that again, someone is fostering this mentality. Someone is being an enabler. Someone is aiding and abetting this thuggery. And someone needs to pay for it. These kids need to learn that this behavior is unacceptable and the proverbial book needs to be thrown at them.
Then our liberal friends can decry how our prisons are overrun with blacks, set them free only to have them wreak more havoc in their communities. Things need to change and quick. More blood will be spilled. I say, it high time those who dish out beatings get a taste of their own medicine. After all they bleed too.
When white people start arming themselves like Bernie Goetz, then the MTA and those who deny that these are hate crimes, will get the message.

With regards to the “Judged by 12 instead of carried by 6″ remark, I have an interesting idea. Perhaps if we have lawyers who read this page, they can clue me in as to how effective this might be?
If you (God forbid) are in a situation where you have to kill someone to protect yourself and this goes to trial, sue the surviving attackers (if any) or their families for “Violation of your civil rights.”
This was occurring in San Francisco in the ’70s. A social worker tried to calm down one mass attack, high school kids attacking business commuters in mass, and was slugged in the face for her effort. Poetic justice in action. They’d break windows on the bus, grab purses and briefcases, then run. This motivated the ongoing use of my personal vehicle until parking increased to over $200 a month. Then, no recourse but BART.

Notice this isn’t happening to ordinary, innocent citizens in Rhode Island, Maine or Pennsylvania to name a few. Those are “shall issue” concealed carry states, meaning that unless the sheriff has a specific reason not to issue you a concealed carry license (CCW), you get a CCW. Maryland, like most of the northeast states, is a “may issue” state. What that usually means is that unless you can prove a current, ongoing threat that you have documented with the police department, or unless you are a judge, prosecutor, attorney, politician, doctor or wealthy connected citizen, you aren’t going to get one from what I hear and read from numerous sources. If you do get one and you use a firearm to defend yourself, you better have an umbrella liability insurance policy unless you have a millions dollars laying around you aren’t using because the bad guy can sue you in most, if not all, of those states for harming him while he was trying to kill you.
Unfortunately in mob/gang attacks like the ones in question, somebody is going to have to get shot and killed to get these punks’ attention. Maybe a lot of somebodys, meaning that just pointing a gun at punks like that won’t stop them. I would hypothesize it is going to take several incidents of them attacking an innocent person on public transportation and one of them getting shot to have any significant effect on behavior. Otherwise it is just an isolated incident to them.

I’m out in Colorado, where they still believe in allowing you the right to self protection. There have been several instances in the last few years where citizens with CCW’s used firearms to protect themselves from thugs. Of course, each case was investigated, but nobody was charged.
Curiously, the local media have not tried to make bad guys out of the CCW holders. The recent church shootings come to mind.
I have a CCW, and you can bet when I’m out in the public, with God knows who around, I’m armed! I will not be a victim!!!

Seems that crime in Philly has gotten so out of control that the genious Gov. of PA has been transporting urban bad apples to public housing in other areas of the state. My brother’s in laws are now reporting crime statistics in their neighborhood which never used to exist until this current situation was put into effect.
I have read about that on a PA forum I lurk at on occasion. Armed law abiding citizens is not a panacea, but it does level the playing field quite a bit. And it doesn’t take all that many instances of criminals running into armed, proficient citizens willing to defend themselves to convince the criminals to prey on people elsewhere, probably somewhere that citizens don’t carry guns.
You can thank Giuliani for some of that too. He apparently bused a lot of people out to those areas in his cleaning up NYC campaign. I go through that area of PA a lot and it is unbelievable how those areas have changed. And the residents aren’t calmly taking it because it seems every other house is for sale. Lock Haven, infamous for its ban on renting to illegals, has become a total ghost town.

Bus driver should be charged as an accessory to the crime. Those types of citizens of Balitmore be damned!
SCOTUS ruled as early as 1856 (first cite of which I am aware) that the civilian police force is NOT responsible for protecting individual citizens. There have been at least 5 SCOTUS rulings since then upholding that principal in various regards. The responsibility of the police is to maintain civil order and protect the assets of the political subdivision (city, county, state, etc) of which they are employed. Over 90% of all police work occurs AFTER the crime is committed.
While I certainly agree that the vast majority of police officers are decent people who truly care about their communities and work hard in an often thankless job, the fact is that they do NOT have an obligation to protect you. That makes prohibitions and limitations of civilian carry of firearms near suicidal.
The assailants are probably graduates of the University of Delaware. They’re just following through on what they’ve been taught.

After the fubar at the University of Delware, people reverse racism doesn’t exist and its just a term white america uses to maintain their privledges at the expense of ethnic minorities. /sarc off-stuff I have heard in my sociology classes.
Reverse racism is not some pc term, it has become a way to identify that the perputrators of racism are ethnic minorities since the prevailing stereotype is that the only ethnic group capable of being & practicing racism are whites. Until America accepts the evidence that all ethnic groups are capable, and do practice various forms of racism then the term “reverse racism” is an acceptable way to address the problem of racism that is specifically directed at whites and between other ethnic minority groups.
In short, this term has become a coping mechnism in dealing with racial bigotry that non-bigoted whites in the south face from segments of the African America community on a daily basis. Since I moved to Memphis; I have been subjected to more racism in 18 months that I faced in 20 years of military service that had me stationed all over the east coast. The racism can be narrowed down to either subtle or blatant.
Subtle racism is based on a change of a persons behavior that is reflected in how they deal with diffrent ethnic groups. E.g rudeness-if a persons rude consistently, then there racism maynot be there. If a person is selectively rude and only one ethnic group is being favorably-then racism is there.
Blatant racism is the most obvious and its manifested by slurs, violent behavior against a person for no other reason than their color of their skin and discrimination in the job market when being passed over by an inferiorly qualified applicant. Sadly I have seen this sort of behavior by the several elected pols in Memphis, and the tri-state area. If a non-black ethnic made simuliar comments they would be fired or at least accused of a hate crime.
I have seen this several times in the hospitality industry and local hospitals when during the group interviews all the non-black applicants were not accepted for the second round of interviews.
The last time this happened, those of us that were passed over compared resumes and saw what the “accepted” group had-our clothes were approbiate, resumes on quality paper, answered the questions in thoughtful/non-stuttering language, were articulate in speech and we had lots of experience.
Well since Mayor Herenton (Memphis)stated that if people don’t like his racist accusations for disagreeing with him then people should just move out. Well thats what I plan on doing once I graduate from college in 2009 and just leave.

I am a Maryland resident now living in Virginia (AD military). I tried repeatedly to get a CC permit in the state of Maryland after a physically abusive ex boyfriend repeatedly violated a restraining order in Montgomery county. I was turned down every time. I have no criminal record and nothing prevented me from legally purchasing and owning a handgun. I was told that my reason was not good enough and to just call the police if he showed up again.
Well one evening while he was attempting to break down my front door it took the police over 30 minutes to show up and he was gone.
I moved to the tidewater area of Virginia last year and had my CCW within 2 weeks. I was amazed at the speed and ease of obtaining my permit.
I will never be a victim again. When my military service is over I will also never be a Maryland resident again as well.
The liberals that have overtaken my beautiful home state have ruined it for me.
This has been going on for a long time, and it isn’t going to stop. Even now, in the “suburbs” north of Houston, “minorities” are forming gangs based along “ethnic” lines. These are kids that have never missed a meal, do not live in “the hood”, and have never been “done wrong” by “the man”, yet somehow they feel that they must lash out at ol’ whitey… THe answer is clear, and has been for a long time. We have to start fighting back. Consistently. Every time. We must have million man marches and riots whenever injustice rears it’s ugly head. In the Jenna 6 case, how many blacks showed up to support those thugs? LOTS. So, how many of us are going to support Joe Horn? Oh yeah… We’re already doing that in Houston. You should check out what happened when the Black Panthers decided to protest in front of Joe Horn’s house only to arrive and find 100′s of BIKERS waiting on them.
