Because attacking Mitt’s religion is just a cheap shot that has nothing to do with what kind of president he would be.

If Huck wanted to know what Mormons believe he should talk with a Mormon theologian not a NYT reporter?

Huckabee wasn't asking a "NYT reporter," he was asking Zev Chafets who founded the Jerusalem Report Magazine and has written several books on religion in America and who writes opinion pieces for several papers. He understands more about religion in America than most Americans do. Huckabee was someone whom, he thought, would know the answer to his question.

He wasn't taking a "cheap shot" or trying to attack Mitt, if he were, why would he have asked someone who already understood Mormon theology?

The whole thing was reported out of context by, I believe, the L.A times and the next thing you know, normally MSM wary conservatives were just lapping up the story and using it to attack Huckabee.

So which is it? The press lies and distorts to attack conservatives or it's an honest, reliable broker of news? Depends upon the day (and the candidate) I guess.

Huck should not just of apologies just to Mitt for degrading the Mormon faith, he should apologies to all Mormons if he thinks what he said was wrong. If Huck wanted to know what Mormons believe he should talk with a Mormon theologian not a NYT reporter?

#17 BirdLady79 - To be fair, though, the Arkansas Supreme Court last year forced Legislators to pump hundreds of millions of additional dollars into public school - so we’ll see in a few years if it makes a difference or if, as usual, they just squander it.

I'd say, squander it. A while back a similar thing happened in MO. The state supremes ordered millions poured into public schools. The reason was to get more minorities to graduate. They got opulent indoor swimming pools, new classrooms, etc. When it was all said and done, the minority graduation rate didn't change one bit. And now the AR supremes are trying the same failed socialism as MO. As Winston Churchill said, "The inherent vice of capitalism is the unequal sharing of blessings; the inherent virtue of socialism is the equal sharing of misery."

I've already been branded as a moronic, hate-filled bigot....no, pardon me...Huckabigot...so I kinda figure what do I have to lose? So, here goes.

It's a funny headline. It's also a lot of other things, most of which I thought were below the standards of this site.

From a cleverness standpoint, it ranks right up there with Buck Fush.

More importantly, even you, Michelle, have already taken Mr. Huckabee's name and made it a profanity by saying Hillary "Hucked up" too.

Why bring up Mormon views on anything? Why bring up Christian views? From what I have seen in presidents, what there religion says and what they do in office are usually on two seperate pages. Just like what they say they will do while getting elected and what they do once they are there. And both parties do this. The Republican base is mad because the Republicans don't do the things they promise....and the Democrats are doing the same dance on their end. I guess it ends up being pick the one that may match your expectations closest and hope they live up to half of what they promised once there...

Fivepointer Said: Why is Huck suppose to ignore this basic premise?

Because attacking Mitt's religion is just a cheap shot that has nothing to do with what kind of president he would be.

Since God created everything, that would include Satan. So believing that Jesus, Satan and the rest of us are all Gods children doesn't seem any stranger than believing that Jesus walked on water or turned water into wine.

Huck needs to address the problems this country is facing. By focusing on some obtuse fact of Mormon theology that has no relevance to the war with radical islam, abortion, taxes, public education etc he's just wasting good debate time.

If Huck wants to see how Mitts religion would affect his decisions regarding the presidency, bring up the mormon view on abortion, or self reliance, or gay marriage, something relevant.

Larryaby - don't forget that he accepted money, refusing to name the donors, into a secret "slush" fund from RJ Reynolds - he then used that money to supplement his salary when he was Lt. Gov in Arkansas. And to answer the question from above - I believe Arkansas now ranks 48th in the Nation for education. You see, here in Arkansas our favorite saying is "thank God for Mississippi" - that's historically the only state that we can surpass. To be fair, though, the Arkansas Supreme Court last year forced Legislators to pump hundreds of millions of additional dollars into public school - so we'll see in a few years if it makes a difference or if, as usual, they just squander it.
