GOP immigration drag queens, part II
A few items for you this morning on our leading GOP immigration drag queens running for president.
First up: Video of Mayor Rudy Giuliani boasting that NYC is “quite tolerant of undocumented immigration and this shouldn’t surprise you because I’ve been mayor of this city a long time and outspoken on this issue even nationally, and I happen to agree with that. I think NYC should not deal with undocumented immigrants in a harsh way. I think we’re much better off being ’sensible’ and ‘practical’ about it…”
He made his remarks on September 7, 2001–eight years after “undocumented immigrants,” who enjoyed “sensible” sanctuary policies, helped carry out the first World Trade Center bombing and four days before several hijacker jihadists, whose immigration documents had expired and who also benefited from “practical” immigration non-enforcement, participated in the worst terrorist attack on American soil. “Better off” with sanctuary? I think not:
Next: Audio of Mike Huckabee on the Laura Ingraham show trying to dodge a direct question about whether he supports the use of the security-underming matricula consular card for illegal aliens. It’s a simple yes or no question. Huckabee does a typical shuck-and-jive.
Call him Shuckabee:
Partial transcript:
LG: You didn’t come out against [the Mexican] consulate issuing consular ID cards though, did you?
MH: I actually signed a bill in 2005 that prohibited people from getting a driver’s license who were illegal–
LG: –that’s not answering the question, governor. I understand that. But that’s not answering the question. Because I’m staying on this consulate issue. On the issue of the Mexican consulate, did you or did you not oppose the Mexican consulates issuing ID cards that are then used by illegal aliens to open bank accounts and get a number of other social services beyond health care and beyond education in the United States.
MG: Well, what I want to do is fix this entire problem by having sealed borders.
Not much of a “fix” if he’s inviting foreign consulates to rent out space for $1 a year to hand out bogus illegal alien ID cards so more immigration laws can be broken.
Here’s more analysis by Laura and me of Huckabee’s not-so-straight talk:
Caveat emptor, people. Caveat emptor.
***
Tim Sumner of 9/11 Families for a Safe and Secure America has a special card for Mike Shuckabee.
The Washington Post still doesn’t get it.
More audio: Ed Morrissey of Captain’s Quarters interviewed Huckabee last night. You can listen here. At about the 21-minute mark, Huckabee comments on the Gilchrist endorsement and again plugs his nine-point immigration plan as proof of his border security bona fides. You’ll hear him characterize the plan as realistic and compassionate because it doesn’t just “grind our heels in the faces” of illegal aliens. Even as he’s trying to persuade border security advocates that he’s one of them, it’s too hard for him to camouflage his open-borders contempt for strict immigration enforcement.

Dont ya just love her…
Go Fred!
Schmuckabee bad.
I beginning to think that nothing will ever be done about illegal immigration regardless of who will be the next president. It’s frustrating.
OT:
AJ, go check out Burner on FOMM.
Huckster’s a wolf in sheep’s clothing. He is not a conservative. He’s all about power and I will never trust him.
Rudy was wrong in 2001 and he’s trying to run from those comments. Hopefully, he has learned his lesson. Time will tell if he’s changed or not.
Build the Wall.
Enforce the Law.
Ducan Hunter !!!!
That could be said about pretty much every politician. They’re all about power, from your neighborhood commissioner to POTUS. Anything that increases their power is good, anything that decreases it is bad.
Ditto!
That’s why we like term limits. All politicians are corrupt. We can only try to exchange the bad ones for someone who hasn’t been TOO corrupted yet, and throw that one out when he goes bad, too. As far as Giuliani is concerned, I think we’ll be able to hold his feet to the fire on judges, as we did Bush, and that’s the single most important consideration for me after illegal immigration. Huckabee, OTOH, is completely untrustworthy, and his comments to Laura demonstrate it. He is another version of George Bush, only without the bullheaded integrity. He and Paul are the only two (Republican) candidates I won’t vote for under any circumstances.
Okay, Michelle. We can see you’ve sold out to the religion-baiter, Romney.
So…where’s you’re in-depth analysis of Romney’s stance on illegal immigration?
We’re seeing from you and some of the other elitist conservative bloggers, that the left has a legitimate reason to equate GOP politicos to character assasins.
Your success is skewing your judgement, sweetheart.
Why dose it seem like every election cycle we are forced to choose the lesser of two evils. It just burns me up.
I haven’t decided on anyone. And I have enough haters accusing me of “selling out” without giving them registration privileges on my site.
Goodbye.
“Haters”?
Gawd! Do you always automatically jump to conclusions without proper research? I am one of your STRONGETST admirers, Michelle.
Just ask PatX.
However, your previous response to me supports my statement above which says that your success is skewing your judgement. You reallyARE being mean-spirited with this one!
Does anybody else get the same shiver down your spine when Huckabee talks?
He reminds me of Bubba Clinton.
Huckabee, Kucinich, Biden, Paul, Edwards, Osmarma, Hillary, Richardson, and any Green candidates, are clearly the downside of the old adage that in America “anybody can grow up to be President”.
President Huckabee. oy.
Amen, MM. Indeed, I believe you have been plenty open with exposing Mitt’s brushes with illegal immigration issues, if I recall correctly.
Honestly, at this point, how many of us are happy with any one GOP candidate? Paul is the only one with a true small gov’t focus, but his foreign policy / security vision is dim at best. Unsatisfying so far, but with bloggers like you, Michelle, at least we can stay up to date on the many silly dances they’re dancing. Gives me some hope that when the time comes we can make relevant decisions.
Thank you!
Fred Thompson!!!
a vote for huck the schmuck is a vote for guiliani. i think they are both ‘hillary lite’. if i have a choice between hillary or hillary lite come november 08, what will i do?
i will write in my candidate choice; and usually when i have no choices, I write my own name. but, this year, i’ve decided i will write in the name of the candidate i wanted if i have to select between hitlery, shister rudy and/or huck the schmuck.
thanks michelle, for always providing the facts. i am sure that if you find anything on romeny’s illegal alien handling as governor you will print that as well.
hunkahillbilly… You don’t sound like one of Michelle’s strongest supports. You sound like a hater that you are accusing Michelle of being…
MM and others: Right or wrong, you position is far from the main stream on illegal immigration. It’s not even the main stream Republican position, a point your post makes clear.
Anybody with any brains knows how it feels to have a strong opinion that is shared by a small minority. Though I don’t agree, your position does make sense: if they’re illegal, just kick `em out already.
That said, acting like people you disagree with are evil doesn’t help your cause. Hyperventilating is not the most effective form of persuasion.
Please…close…borders.
This story is not mean-spirited in the least.
The government should do the will of the people, and while (for example) 77% of us do want the borders secured and don’t want illegal aliens to benefit from programs subsidized by citizens’ tax dollars, our security and sovereignty dies on the vine.
Where is the fire in your belly?
In addition to a secure-borders President, we should push hard to make 2008 a referendum for Congress on illegal immigration.
LGM, far from the main stream? lmao, you need to get out of that tree more often…
Hunkabilly: Are you joking? “supports my statement”?
You sound like some kind of jailhouse lawyer.
You point the finger and three are pointing back atcha.
“sweetheart?” What do you gain from demeaning a professional woman like this? And then, to turn around and claim to be one of MM’s “strongest admirers”? That’s just plain weird.
It appears 2 things are lost on you:
MM has some success to begin with, and she has faculties of judgement to boot.
Your approach reflects that you have neither.
So knock it off before you drain what’s left of your self-respect.
lgm: in the land of Gnar where you live, what is the position on illegal immigration? Does everybody get free maple candy when they land?
Good gawd, man. Get help soon.
Fixing the country’s illiegal immigration problem is NOT the job of the mayor of NYC. Fixing the city’s crime, welfare and education problems was. Michelle doesn’t seem to get that mayors and the president have different powers and responsibilities. As mayor of NYC, he couldn’t build a border fence, couldn’t beef-up the border patrol, couldn’t reform the immigration department, couldn’t force them to deport people from NYC, couldn’t do anything to affect the enforcement of the nation’s immigration laws. So he worked with what he had for the benefit of NYC. He’s explained this many times. As president, it would be his job to do something about the nation’s immigration problems. And given his record of accomplishment in NYC, and his background as a prosecutor, I think he is at least as well prepared to succeed in that as anyone else in the race.
Truth be told. The candidate anointed by either side will be pro-illegal immigration. It’s been commanded by the corporate and political powers that the American middle class must go. The quickest and easiest way to accomplish that is to flood the country with illegal immigrants. So, don’t expect any of them to protect us from the influx coming across the boarders.
Michelle, and Laura, and all the others on the front lines trying to combat this invasion are fighting a valiant battle. I applaud them all! Perhaps they will prevail. I hope and pray that they do.
How is believing our Government should enforce laws already enacted by not coddling illegals aliens out of the mainstream?
If they are illegal – they don’t belong here. Why is our country, in this respect, different from any other? We are a sovereign nation – which dictates that we should have non-pourous borders.
Enforce the laws, deport/prosecute law-breakers ( yes, crossing the border without proper authorization is ILLEGAL ), and stop the flow of illegal immigrants from all nationalities.
Is that wrong? Is that too much to ask?
Not in the mainstream? You infer that most Americans would not want that.
Sweetheart? That sounds very patronizing unless you’re Flo working at Mel’s diner.
Apathy and indifference on illegal immigration will get us all killed. Build the fence, deport the illegals and free the border patrol agents.
Cross dresser, gotta love it.I think lgm fits that statement.
Ahhhh….careful, there docflash…
Don’t set yourself up for the proverbial MM boot……….
I heard the Huckabee interview/non-answer. It reminded me of Hillary’s answer to the driver’s license question. That was a “deal killer” for me. The man as much as voted for amnesty. I’m still scratching my head over the Gilcrist endorsement. It’s a world gone mad.
As several posts have made the point, the fact that some of us want to see the law upheld doesn’t make us anti immigration, it makes us anti-illegal immigration. Immigration is clearly the strength of this country, always has been … how many on this list are pure Cherokee or Ojibwa? Not me … The key is that laws, once passed, ought to be either upheld or repealed. Until they are repealed, upholding them is the full responsiblity of the President, regardless of who sits the position. Frankly, I’d like to see it become a little less onerous for the honest admirers to become citizens, but illegal means illegal and should be treated as such.
Hunkahillbilly’s post slamming Michelle HERE
He is a Huck supporter and had a chip on his shoulder because of her post exposing Huck.
Says MM called him a hater. Needs to check his facts. Says MM supports Mitt. Needs to check his facts again.
Buh-bye!
Tancredo, anyone? Wake up people and stop listening to the drive by spin, “can’t win”. You keep believing them, so they are successful in their efforts to prevent the best conservatives from getting any traction.
Gilcrist is the ‘politico’ side of civilian border concerns – not the ‘feet on the ground’ side.
I saw where he stated that he’d offered his support to others, but Huck was the only one who accepted -
So – I’m taking that as his ‘endorsement’ as it stands today was not his first choice?
Since when do you need a candidates approval to endorse them? Sounds like ‘who’ll give me face-time if I endorse you?’…..
What happenedto this?
jrlingreenbay, it sounds more like, “who’ll give me a high-paying government job if I endorse them”. Your right of course about the permission thing. He could have endorsed any of them with or without their permission.
OT — Forgive me, I’m still a newbie, so I must ask — Soap, what is FOMM? (Post #3)
Seems Hunkahillbilly is cherry picking comments about his banning.
He is challenging Michelle to a debate. He grabbed a line from my post at #34. Left out the part where he said MM supports Mitt being wrong.
Seems hunkahillbilly has zero, zippo, nada posts on his thread. Right popular! So hunka, why should MM debate you? Get that chip off of your shoulder pal.
The difference is that I believe a campaign promise on ths issue by Rudy. Hackabee wants to Bush-Whack us.
Great article Michelle, right on the button.
Rudy Globalani and Mike Huckasham aren’t sincere.
I am so sick and fed up tired of bait and switch RINOs who smooth everybody’s feathers to get elected and go back to their agenda after the election.
I would like to suggest a LUNCH WITH O.J. contest. The most corrupt and influential politicians on illegal migration could compete to win a lunch with the celebrity O.J. Simpson. It could be sort of a fun quiz show format like the debates, and in addition to a lunch with O.J., the winner would increase his appeal to Hispanic voters.
GO MITT !!!!!
Rudy Julie Annie had a better chance at winning the democratic nomination than the Republican Party’s. Buh Bye Julia Annie
What I have never understood is why, other than to buy Cuban-American votes, any Cuban who manages to set foot on American soil can stay forever.
Two boats arrive here in S. Florida. One has Cubans and the other Haitians. Generally speaking, the Haitians will be shipped back pronto.
All sorts of intelligent, hard-working people are waiting their turn to legally come to America and yet the illegals go right to front, have their anchor babies and many crowd our school systems, emergency wards and jails. It is obscene the percentage of Mexican nationals here illegally who commit violent crimes. I’m not picking on them because of race, but it is an outrage that Mexico can export their poor here. I’m not happy about the Central American gangs that run amok here either. Screw the unions, put all criminals to work on public projects and if they’re dangerous dudes, bring back chain gangs.
Hunka, Grow up. Nobody is paying attention to your pathetic blog. You should save face and just apologize to Michelle.
Soap #46, Absolute priceless
#24..True, fixing illegal immigration is not a mayor’s job but he doesn’t have to declare his city a sanctuary city and forbid the police to turn illegals over to immigration. Now, granted, up until recently, immigration agents could not be bothered to get out of bed to attend to arrested illegals, hopefully, in most cities, it
is better now. Guiliani was so pro illegal that anything he says against illegal immigration now, to me, have to be suspect and I feel, so much lip service just to get
the nomination.
Off Topic:
SHoward,
Welcome. I hear you did the smackdown on Burner yesterday. You just might belong to Friends Of Michelle Malkin.
HERE
Trolls need no apply as you will NOT get in anyhow. Just a bunch of us who want to chat to each other about what is happening on this blog.
I read a disclaimer that said Gilchrist speaks for himself. No one else in the
organization have come out for any one candidate.
Careful soap, SHoward is from So. Cal and we know what those people are like.
No wonder you gave him such a rave review.
Careful, careful, I’m a transplant. I moved out here from Central Florida last year. I ‘took one for the commpany,’ or something like that.
Glad to be here with you folks.
lol, you moved from soaps backyard to mine.
SHoward,
Watch that AJ fella, he is out there. Moved from right coast to left – yikes!
or from least coast to best coast.
Remember that Gilchrist was ousted by the board of the Minuteman organization and that they are suing one another. His endorsement of Huckabee is an attempt for Gilchrist to regain some of his lost “glory”.
Re Rudy, don’t I recall that he sued the feds to limit immigration enforcement activities in NYC? It is one thing to “go along to get along”, but to actively maneuver to prevent law enforcement is quite another.
#50 — I see your point, but how do you know that his position back then was an indication of some deep conviction? My view is that he’s not a strong idealogue of any sort, but more of a problem solver. Embracing illegals when he was mayor was part of an effective plan to improve the city. It may also have helped him get votes from a predominantly democrat populus. I think as president he would take steps against illegal immigration not only as a way of winning reelection to a second term, but also as part of the effort to safeguard the nation against terrorist attacks, which is the one issue about which I believe he may have some deep convictions.
I’ll trump your Disneyland with our Disneyworld and we have NASA so I get to see the Space Shuttle launch. You guys have to do drugs to see anything launch – LOL
President Huckabee. Sounds like a good name for a president of a bowling league, but not the Greatest Nation on Earth (ever).
ok since its friday fun…..
we have hotties in thongs,
you have oldies in granny panties…
and we have NASA here also… a lil base called Edwards…
bear feel free to chime in… soaps getting all better than you on us… lmao
I refuse to say who I am voting for President to anybody. Even my lovely and delightful wife, Kelly. She tried to pressure me into saying and I told her that even if I had decided 11 months before the election, I would not reveal my choice.
After the election, I will reveal who I voted for.
Just my way. Thought some folks would want to know.
All of the Pubbies are behaving like circus animals, being led around the ring by the media as they are introduced to the crowd.
Not worthy of evaluation this far out. Let’s see who gets nominated and then we’ll know what side their bread is buttered on.
Okay— i’ll tell you one “candidate” I am dead set against: Pon Raul. I’d vote for George Nori before I voted for Pon Raul.
As usual my backyard just gets flown over
#59
Isn’t this special? The dem congressional leadership is going along with the Hispanic caucus to block a resolution calling for release of Compean and Ramos, the border guards who were actually doing their job. I guess the “rights” of illegal HISPANIC immigrants trump justice for american citizens unjustly persecuted and prosecuted?
Hunka, get your facts straight.
1) I am a man.
You being a supporter of Michelle does nothing for her – tata!
2) Our site is NOT a blog. No, you cannot comment on it but you can email me with your vile tripe.
3) You are cherry picking here because you got your ego bruised.
4) Your comments on #9 got you banned – rightly so.
5) Your blog still has zero posts about your being banned so I am not too worried that anybody found me out.
6) Just apologize to Michelle and STHU!
7) I only wish I could have gotten DLTDHYOTWO in before you got the boot.
The most interesting thing to come out of this silly exchange is the uncanny physical resemblance between soap and hillbilly.
OOOO dakine has spoken.
Hunka finally gets a post:
Al in Dallas said…
I’m no MM sycophant, but you acted like a jerk. That’s why you got kicked off. MM is neither dishonest nor cowardly. You are simply out of line.
Al in Dallas said…
MM does not support Romney. You’re just making that up. It’s crap like that that got you banned.
I see you are deleting posts – Hunka. Too bad I posted them before you could get away with it!!!
Enjoyed reading you exile one of your “STRONGEST admirers”..done with your usual class and intellect.
Come on Dems! Ramos and Comean just want to do the work of securing our borders that illegals, liberals and RINOs refuse to do.
President Bush’s list of year-end pardons this year include a carjacker, drug dealer, moonshiner and election law violator, but did not include Ramos and Compean. The drug dealer got a pardon because he only “played a small role in a Washington-area crack ring.” I quess the guy Ramos and Compean shot was only playing a small roll in bringing drugs across the border and should have been left alone. Go figure.
OT
Holy S batman, spitting Jerry Rivers is on Oliely?
I don’t want to fan any flames here, Soap and AJ, but having lived in both places now, I do have a few observations.
First of all, my non-CA bike sits un-ridden in my garage, because it doesn’t have enough miles on it to register here. Despite the fact that CA does not smog motorcycles. Believe me, there is no way around this.
I also found that while many individuals out here are gun enthusiasts, I don’t think I’ll be buying one here anytime soon, thus keeoping my profile low, in the state’s eyes.
On the other hand, I have thus far found the ratio of women to men quite in my favor. If it weren’t for the socialists in the various governments out here, I might actually like it here. There are cool places to visit, too. You see, in FL we had a few hills, no mountains. And the desert is cool.
Oops, sorry to go off topic again….
