Thank the troops this season
Three things you can do this weekend when you have time to pause from all the frantic holiday shopping:
1) Make a thank-you video for the troops. Blackfive is putting together a video salute and wants your 30-second message to our men and women serving overseas. Pitch in here.
2) Donate to Returning Heroes Home.
3) Join the Gratitude Campaign.
Small gestures, yes. But millions of small signs of gratitude can make a difference.

DITTO…30- May God Be with each and every one of them, now and forever.!!!!!
Thats the best gift evah!
Thank you, Michelle, for posting this.
It does anger and sadden me, however, that it has to be explained to the general public that thanking a Soldier, Sailor, Airman or Marine is not a bad thing to do.
o/t go to hot air and look at the best x-mas ever…
Thanks for posting this. I’ll be sending my thanks soon.
dam, got something in my eye.
twiggman same vid up top here… bring kleenix…
Thank You Michelle… You don’t know how much I mean that… THANKS !
OK AJ thanks
While leaving LGA (that’s NYC) yesterday, I bumped into a Major General, a Brigadier General, 2 Colonels and a Major. I said a simple, “Thank you” and that started a conversation which lasted for more than 20 minutes.
We had a great time and when they found out that I had served in the 1st ID in Vietnam, it was like we were old friends. First time I had ever had an Army General shake my hand and wish me a Merry Christmas.
I love our troops. God bless America and God bless our military.
Well, over at HA I was in tears watching the little girls open a pkg. with their dad in it (same as MM posted above). This one did it too.
God bless our men/women in the service of the United States military. We are so fortunate to have raised such a fine group. That cannot be said about our elected critters that have failed to pass a funding bill. They should hang their heads in shame and have to apologize to every single member of the military or suffer sanctions of some kind.
NBC just changed their minds a few days ago. Before they changed their minds, they said that thanking the troops was a controversial partisan issue. Wow, just think about that because NBC obviously didn’t.
I thank God every day for our troops, and whenever I see someone in uniform
or with an NAS ( joint reserve base) sticker on their vehicle, I make it a point
to either thank him/her or the family personally or I leave a thank you note.
God bless our troops and their families.
The Moderate Voice has a piece that shows why our
troops are fighting the war on terror.
The headline reads..Fatal Bomb That Destroyed
Bhutto Homecoming Rigged to Baby. A child about 1
or 2 years old and probably a girl was held up by a
man who was trying to hand her to Bhutto. Her clothes
were rigged with explosives that would have killed
Bhutto had she not stopped to loosen her shoes.
This baby never had a chance to live. This is what
our troops are fighting against. Again, God Bless
Them All!
Michelle,
You also forgot to mention “Wreaths Across America”
They are holding over 200 ceremonies across the United States and overseas Saturday morning.
We hope to see you at one of those ceremonies. If you’re on Long Island, please stop by at 12:00PM EST at Long Island National Cemetery.
I would also like to make a mention of Operation Gratitude, opgratitude.com. This holiday season our all volunteer work force will send out its 300,000th package to our deployed military. Each package cost us $10 to ship and contains over $125 worth of goods donated by American corporate entities and private citizens. This is a great way to get involved and know that your donation will go directly to our men and women.
I am SSGT David Medzyk, currently in Iraq at Al Kut Airbase. The best thing you wonderful folks can do for us, is to never forget the reason we are waging this war….and it ain’t for WMD’s or oil.
The west is under attack by a fanatical interpretation of the quran. This is not new, for there have been 11 other attacks against western ideals, those were known then as the Crusades, as is this battle. Islam wants you dead, for no other reason than you are not islamic.
(btw, I refuse to capitalize “islam” if I do not have to, so don’t point it out for me)
Our efforts so far, has centered most terrorist activity to Iraq and Afghanistan. Which is a far better goal than pushing islam out of France and England once again, as the other Crusades demanded. We have eliminated many thousands of islamic terrorists who all had the same purpose…to kill you wherever you live. As is the nature of a Crusade, this will not be over soon. It will take many years and many lives to push islam back to the ignorant age from whence it sprung from the corrupt cult mind of the child raping Mohammed.
I am proud, and honored, to fight for the USA, in our quest for freedom and safety from evil. I thank you for keeping us in your hearts.
And remember always….islam wants you dead.
SSGT David Medzyk, Al Kut Airbase, Iraq.
Thank you, Army, for your service and for protecting us all against the evil that our country cannot even comprehend.
HOOAH! Been there myself, twice. We know and understand the reasons behind this war…about 3000 to start with. It’s a damned shame that the point has to be driven home to people who obviously weren’t affected enough by the vicious attack on our own soil. It’s unbelievable.
Keep up the good work, SSGT Medzyk!
