The wreath-laying at Arlington Cemetery
Two years ago, you may remember, this photo went viral on the Internet:
Word of Wreaths Across America spread across the country and Morrill Worcester’s labor of love became a national project uniting citizens in a volunteer tradition to place wreaths on the headstones of our nation’s fallen heroes at Arlington National Cemetery.
Today at noon, the tradition continued. This is the 16th year the wreaths have been placed at Arlington.
Andrea Shea-King was there and blogged about the effort (hat tip - Dave Logan). She reports that “ten thousand wreaths were transported from Maine aboard two tractor trailer trucks, accompanied by a convoy of Maine State Police troopers, Patriot Guard Riders, Rolling Thunder, Honor Ride, and veterans of the Vietnam war.” A couple of her lovely snapshots of the day (Morrill Worcester is standing in the center of the first photo):
What a powerful business slogan:
“We make it our business to Never Forget.”
God bless Morrill Worcester and all the volunteers who make this happen every year–so that we Never Forget the sacrifices of those who lay beneath the wreaths.
See what others have said

A Christmas surge of community spirit second to none.
Thanks and God bless to All involved who remind us all to Never Forget!
Arlington Cemetery is the most sacred place I have ever visited. These pictures of the wreaths are inspiring. I only wish I had seen the convoy from Maine pass through Connecticut this past week.
Merry Christmas and Happy Holidays to the greatest Military ever conceived and assembled.
My heartfelt thanks to all those who made this possible.
I’m having a hard time seeing how to type. There’s something in my eye…
Michelle,
Thank you for the beautiful post. (Thanks Dave too).
We were there especially to place a wreath on my friend Mary Lou Wade’s brother’s grave.
Capt. Herbert C. Crosby was repatriated this year after being MIA in Vietnam since 1970. We buried his remains during a Memorial Day service, marking the occasion of what would have been his 60th birthday. Very appropriate for this young patriot, whose life was cut short all too soon.
Thank you for helping your readers to remember that We Never Forget.

How can anyone really say thank you? It is nice to know that some Americans still have pride and Honor. May God bless them and their efforts.
Very pretty.
Patriot Guard escorted and placed wreaths today at the National cemetary in Florence SC. It is my understanding that this act was repeated in every state throughout our great nation.
God bless America. God bless our troops. and God bless these patriots who made these wreaths available.
That is just too cool.
God bless America and especially our soldiers.
Andrea, Mary Lou, and Michelle–We’re most proud of all three of you for your dedicated and non-stop support of our military men and women. I’d say you’re three of America’s finest.
Blessings to all of you.
The sign on the truck says it all.
We place over 200 wreaths at Long Island National Cemetery with the same attitude.
We had members of the Boy Scouts, Patriot Guard Riders, Navy, Air Force, Marines at the 12:00PM EST ceremony.
What an honor it was to perform the ceremony and to honor all of those in attendance.
We have several Gold Star parents in attendance of the ceremony as well and they were honored accordingly.
God Bless our Men & Women that serve this great nation!!!
“All gave some….But Some Gave all”
I have a good friend buried in that hallowed earth. A sincere “Thank you” to all that made this possible.
“Non sibi sed patriae”
That’s a great video thanks for sharing MM. It is a shame that any of America’s finest has to die. But the least we can do is thank them and appreciate them for the sacrifice that they have given and continue to give.
Thanks military people, and Merry Christmas.
I am so glad I keep a box of tissues next to my desk here- please give a kleenex warning next time! And if you could, announce ahead of time where and when wreaths are going to be put on graves, I would love to be there next year.
Typing through the tears. THANK YOU
AWESOME…nothing says patriotic like what they do every year
What honorable people. What an incredible gesture.
Proud to be an American. Thats fer sure!!!
I went to Arlington Cemetery last year within a day of Christmas, in the rain. There was a section near the Tomb of the Unknown Soldier that had the wreaths. Even in the rain the wreaths gave an air of dignified celebration of the season and commemoration of the deceased.
It is a fine thing being done here. “Bravo Zulu” to those involved.
All give some, some give all.
The Soaps will never forget.
With ya feebz - proud to be an American.

This is such encouraging human-interest story, I’m wondering why am I only learning about it on this site (Thanks MM!)? I’ve had it on Fox and Friends all morning, and not even they have mentioned it.
Thanks Michelle. Thanks…
:salute:
Thanks for this post Michelle.
God Bless America and all those who keep her free!
Thank you Veterans!
And thanks Michelle for helping us remember.
Wow! I am truly humbled by the actions of these real patriots. All gave some, some gave all. Nice to know there are others that have and will never forget.

Thanks for the great post Michelle. I wish more people would remember that Freedom is never Free!
May we never forget our fallen soldiers who make our freedom possible.
#4: It must be tears, I feel the same thing.
To all those involved in this wonderful project, THANK YOU, from the bottom of my heart. Oh, how I wish I could have been there.
Amen.
At the Riverside National Cemetery (colloquially called “Arlington West”) in California, my son and husband as part of the Civil Air Patrol participated in a similar ritual on Saturday. They weren’t allowed to lay wreaths on the graves because they didn’t have enough wreaths for every grave. But they did give honor and respect to those that are buried there. Maybe next year they can get a sponsor to help them get enough wreaths for all the fallen warriors that are there.
My father is buried there, and it meant a great deal to my mother that they did it.
Sure is hard to see the pictures what with my monitor getting all blurry each time I look at one. God Bless Mr. Worchester and everyone involved!
Wow! Thanks for the article, Michelle. As always, Arlington Cemetery volunteers do it with class! It’s beautiful!
HOOAH!
Then I heard the voice of Lord saying “Who shall I send
And who will go for us?”
And I said “Here I am Lord, send me”
