I'm curious, several other Vietnam POWS have been in Congress, including Jeremiah Denton, and a man who represented Orange County, California, and used to guest speak for Rush Limbaugh in Rush's very early years, Bob Dornin or Dorgin, or something like that - not the Democrat now serving, this was a very fierce Republican who lost his seat due to an agregious amount of ILLEGAL ALIENS voting for a female hispanic Democrat candidate in that district, which California didn't see as a problem.

Rabbit trail - sorry.

Anyway, my point is, wonder if any former POWS from Vietnam are going to endorse McCain, or even VOTE for him.
I think Jeremiah's book mentioned McCain unfavorably back in the 70's before ANYONE heard of McCain! But he expressed a strong sentiment of forgiveness towards several "fellow POWS" in that book, much as Corrie ten Boom did of Concentration camp guards who came to her in tears crying and begging her forgiveness and to lead them to Christ.

Not to say such POWS as had ruffled Jeremiah's feathers had ever actually ASKED for any forgiveness or understanding, mind you.

But no former POWS coming forward who know the intimate details of McCain's time in Vietnam have come forward to endorse him or his views on such things as American "TORTURE" of terrorists, etc.

Cutting the man slack in his personal relationships and as a private citizen is a good American tradition - but should NOT extend to cover FAILINGS in men who will assume tremendously important positions of power that they have shown themselves to be lacking in TENSILE STRENGTH to hold up under.
Compassion is one thing - turning a blind eye to serious flaw that seriously affects his ability to perform the vital necessities of that critical job is something very different.

On December 16th, 2007 at 9:30 pm, Pat said:

McCain looks mighty darned Manchurian to ME - and always has.

Remember, after his last Senate win THANKS SOLELY TO THE DIM VOTERS in ARIZONA, the Arizona State GOP Caucus voted UNANIMOUSLY to CENSURE McCain and BEGGED the National Committee to do the same!

Don't forget his part in helping CREATE and INFLAME the scandals at Abu Ghraib and Gitmo! And has already been primarily responsible for having passed a previous bill banning torture by our military at a time when it constituted pandering to Liberals as much as it did a slap in the face of our military.

Oh, BTW - CORRECTION that McCain broke under TORTURE!
HE DID NOT!
HE BROKE UNDER THREAT TO NOT RECEIVE MEDICAL ATTENTION FOR INJURIES SUFFERED WHEN HE CRASHED, that were not perpetrated by his captors. (Included a broken leg, I think)
When you consider that his father was then field commander over the Vietnam arena...

Maybe none of us can say we also would NOT have broken, but having been there and FAILED is NOT qualifications for Commander in Chief! Such things as the Presidency of the United States of America are NOT for gifting out as a SYMPATHY card to the PITIABLE!

SOME things MUST be EARNED!

IMHO-Giuliani shot himself in the foot on the you tube debate when he lied through his teeth about NY being a sanctuary city, Then he said the second amendment was up to the supreme court and he did not have a gun.

Rudy was never even in the running in Iowa, for multiple reasons.

Hey ScottyDog, Merry Christmas. Good to see you back.

You're right, no one's out of the picture but I suspect that the MSM is hiding Huckleberry's real positions on inflamatory issues like immigration, big government, and taxes. I also believe they would be happy to have him go up against Hilary thinking that the Dems will win.

Ulterior motive, but not really all that subtle.

I would consider McCain except for his position on...well, several things. Torture, for sure. He actually broke under torture and gave accurate information in Hanoi. I don't blame him; I just wonder how he can oppose soft torture like waterboarding now when American lives are at stake. I don't get it!

Remember, Two weeks ago, the Huckster was no where to be found.

It is not too late for any of the Nominees to make a break to the front of the pack.

IMHO-Giuliani shot himself in the foot on the you tube debate when he lied through his teeth about NY being a sanctuary city, Then he said the second amendment was up to the supreme court and he did not have a gun.

I think this is what really hurt him not to mention his flip flopping on most of our issues.

He was the front runner just a couple of weeks ago.

Tancredo, Hunter and Fred are not out of the running what so ever, yet.

I can't figure out where Huckleberry Hound gets his surge numbers from. I can't imagine the Park Rangers union voting for him and I certainly don't think that Yogi and BooBoo have enough inluence over Iowa voters to perk him up.

Come on people. Wake up. Focus. Huckleberry will turn us into the United States of Mexico until he surrenders us to Islam.

I love Chuck Norris but I think ole Chuck has been blinded by a friend. Please Iowa, send Huck back to his home, left of Kansas.

I've been hearing Fred mentioned a lot more since his smackdown of the schoolmarm. That one brilliant display of backbone and leadership has caused many people to take another look at him. Whether he can sustain this boost in his popularity remains to be seen, but I wouldn't count him out yet.

Fred is "dead" because the MSM wants him to be. He *IS* campaigning - and it he is right where he needs to be on EVERY issue. But he doesn't get coverage because the Deciders have decided that he is an actual threat. That is why the Huckster is getting all of the media attention.

Dream Ticket: Thompson/Hunter!
