The Incredible Disappearing Border Fence

By Michelle Malkin  •  December 19, 2007 10:25 AM

My syndicated column today follows up on my blog post yesterday about the bipartisan border fence-gutting. The episode, I note, is an object lesson in gesture politics and homeland insecurity. It’s a tale of hollow rhetoric, meaningless legislation and bipartisan betrayal. And in the run-up to the Iowa caucuses, it’s a helpful learning tool as you assess the promises of immigration enforcement converts now running for president.

Next time you hear a leading presidential candidate try to woo you with his nine-point immigration enforcement plan or his secure ID plan or his Secure Borders platform, point to the Incredible Disappearing Border Fence. Poof! That is what happens to election-season homeland security promises.

Why would theirs be any different?

***

GOP Rep. Duncan Hunter, who has walked the talk, has a section on his website on construction of the 14-mile fence on the San Diego border.

The Border Patrol describes being under attack:

From what I heard on Fox news this morning the border patrol says that violent attacks are up approximately 80% lately. How many Americans have to be killed, maimed, or injured by those willing to do the crimes most Americans won’t do until the lying crapweasels in our Government will protect this nation’s sovereignty? My Congress critters better stay the hell out of the public’s sight when they come home to enjoy their all expense paid (by us) Christmas vacations. The folks in Idaho and serving at the local Air Force Base are not too happy about this sellout.

My son was in the Border Patrol for years before he transferred to another branch of the government. I know there were times when he would have given his left arm for a fence to help keep the “uninvited” out. And when he did try to enforce the law, the courts would just turn the illegals loose and “send them home” just in time to joint the next batch of illegals crossing the border.

What good does it do for people who try to enforce the laws on the books to see their efforts shot down by the insane libs on the bench?

A fence would be an entirely different proposition – if it’s properly alarmed to indicate breaks, then it wouldn’t HAVE to show up in court every couple of weeks to defend it’s actions.

It’s time for congress to actually do something foreign to their nature – keep their word.

Interesting that our Border Patrol agents can come under violent attacks on a daily basis but can’t do anything overt to address the situation. It seems that these are attacks on our soverign citizens not to mention our law enforcement officers. If an American citizen were to attack a law enforcement officer on this side of the border they would be shot. Period. No questions asked. Screw these scum, give the Border Patrol a shoot to kill order when violently attacked. Since we won’t be building a fence we must do something to ensure the safety of our law enforcement officials. In this country the IRS can break down your door and shoot you for a perceived resistance to paying taxes.

We can solve much of this by building military bases along the border. If they break into the base they will be shot. Problem solved. This just goes to show that our elected leaders are NOT looking out for the American people. I think that even if by some miracle, Hunter or Tancredo somehow got elected POTUS, the special interests and North American Union advocates would render even them helpless on this issue.

Not only is the fence being abandoned, but millions of our tax dollars are going into funds to pay for defense lawyers for illegals. This is treasonous legislation, and a perfect example of taxation without representation.

Whether we realize it or not, we’re at war with our politicians. The overwhelming majority of Americans want secure borders, but the politicians on BOTH sides of the isle are willing to sacrifice anything, including the security of our nation for their own greed. It began with NAFTA, and will end with the NAU.

Until we, the LEGAL citizens of the US take a stand, we’re going to lose our freedom, our Constitution, and the sovreignty(sp) of our beloved nation.

Ultimate Solution to 3 separate problems … please follow carefully …

    Problem 1. The Southern Border

Dig a new navigation canal from the Texas Gulf Coast to San Diego Bay. Make sure the water line is about 20 feet straight down from each side. Place fencing along both sides of the new canal. This would not be for security but for safety due to the dropoff into the canal, and would give a presence at each canal lock to help with watching the border. This would also be an alternative to going all the way to Panama to get our ships from one coast to the other.

    Problem 2. Florida alligators endangered

Since we would now have all that water on the southwestern border let’s take all those endangered alligators from the Florida swamps and relocate them to the new canal along with some water mocassins and assorted other reptiles.

Anyone stupid enough to swim across that deserves what ever happens to them.

    Problem 3. New Orleans flooding

Take all the earth we removed to build the canal out west and use it to raise the level of the city of New Orleans. No more being below sea level means no more broken levees to flood the city.

Just thought I would give everyone something new to think about today …

I don’t have the exact stats but I will go on the line and say that the illegals kill more Americans in a year than died on 9-11-01.

I read it was 12 people a day die at the hands of illegal aliens, google ‘deaths illegal immigrants’, you’ll find it.
30 wrote above here ‘25 per day’ and it could be.
With sanctuary cities and lib media willing to hide this data, we can’t really know how many for sure.
