Bob Kerrey “apologizes” to Obama
The hapless Hillary Clinton campaign strikes out again. Hillary endorser Bob Kerrey sent Barack Obama an apology letter for his back-handed “praise” invoking his middle name and mentioning family members who were Muslim (hat tip – Perfunction). As I noted on the Big Story last week, I think this is a weak attack (I’ve said so to conservatives as well) and that critics concerned about Obama’s religion would be far better off raising questions about his race-baiting Christian pastor and spiritual mentor, Jeremiah Wright.
Kerrey’s “apology” is as dunder-headed as his initial remarks were:
Former Nebraska Sen. Bob Kerrey has apologized to Barack Obama for any unintentional insult he committed by raising the Democratic presidential candidate’s Muslim heritage while endorsing rival candidate Hillary Rodham Clinton.
Kerrey sent a letter to Obama on Wednesday, lauding the Illinois senator’s qualifications to be president and saying that he never meant to harm his candidacy. Kerrey told The Associated Press in a telephone interview that he sent the letter on his own and had not spoken to Clinton or her campaign about the comments he made Sunday in Iowa.
“What I found myself getting into in Iowa – and it was my own fault – it was the wrong moment to do it and it was insulting,” Kerrey told the AP. “I meant no disrespect at all.”
…”I answered a question about your qualifications to be president in a way that has been interpreted as a backhanded insult of you. I assure you I meant to do just the opposite,” Kerrey wrote.
He went on to say he considers Obama one of the most talented people he’s met in politics and “exceptionally qualified by experience and judgment to be president of the United States.” He expanded on Obama’s potential to bring peace to the world and his capacity to inspire hope – high praise for someone backing Obama’s top rival.
He never meant to harm his candidacy? He “meant no disrespect at all?”
He used the phrase “Islamic Manchurian candidate” and he “meant no disrespect?
What a tool.

This guy carries more water than a camel. And he smells like one too!
Come to think of it, he also did a fine job of covering up on the 9/11 commission too.
Like all the others, it sounds like he’s sucking up for a job.
When Bob Kerry ran for president, he had a little problem. He campaigned on the issue of health care and blasted away at the failure of the Republican administration to have a national health care plan. Unfortunately for Bob Kerry, none of the restaurants that he owned offered health insurance to the employees. Sacrifice was good for every other employer but not for good ole Bob. And his explanation was soooooooooo lame. As I recall, he said that if the government required health care benefits to employees, then of course he would do it for his employees. As to why he didn’t do it voluntarily, he didn’t have an answer.
I feel like a one man research department. I should be an intern for MM.com and hot air!!
One could hardly craft better “I come to bury Caesar, not to praise him” remarks…he really thinks Obama is well-qualified, and just because his name is almost “Osama” is just an unfortunate coincidence, and “Hussein”, well, he won’t say anything about that one, and being of Muslim heritage is a good thing, because everyone associates Muslims with…uh, selfless acts of kindness?
If you accept his apology on the face of it – he says he meant to praise, not hurt – then he’s a moron.
He is either a fool or a knave. Or he could be a foolish knave, or a knavish fool. He’s certainly not genuine. Even if he wasn’t explicitly doing the Hildabeest’s work, he was still doing it…
He has been attacked by the real loony left for doing competent work at the New School and he did work in the private sector. Guess playing Democrat party politics is like an addiction.
The Clinton War Room is the most micromanaged environment one can imagine (from reports I have seen). Nothing happens without the blessing of “she who must not be named” once the attack dogs are cleared to go after their designated target.
I find it hard to believe that anything is released to damage her rivals with out her knowledge. They used to be pretty good about smearing their opposition and covering their tracks I guess they are getting desperate and sloppy. Her operatives are becoming too easy to spot these days and are forced to apologize or resign.

This is the problem with Dems. When they’re wrong they won’t admit it, and when they’re right, they apologize.
Whey they lie, they’ll deny the lie tooth and nail, but when they’re honest, they have to retract the statement.
I completely agree with his initial statement, that Obama is an Islamic Manchurian Candidate.
Kerrey is an unusually good liar.
Sounds to me like Bob was against Islamic Manchurian candidates before he was for them.
Or is it the other way around? I confuse easily.
Hillary says: ‘The important thing to remember here is that I had NOTHING to do with any of this’.
