lol, 75% for Thompson… ok close it now….
Gee, I feel better now. I was beginning to feel left out.
Don’t guess anyone from Iowa is visiting here. As of this posting the Huckster is at 0 and Fred is 40% with Duncan at 10 and Romeny at 20.
Undecided.
i like thompson as the VP, but would prefer Hunter as the VP. don’t think either has the stamina or the ability to be POTUS…
Newt Gingrich, you would have taken it.
#3 just a grunt, i think that those polls taken that we see are skewed by the dems who want him to be the one that runs against their candidate. maybe a few baptists who have bought his ‘I am the true social conservative’ baloney.
I support Thompson because no matter how much the MSM and FOX (Guiliani) supporters say it, the man is not lazy.
I find it interesting that no one has been able to go after his voting record or his plans for the Presidency. They only have “he is lazy”.
I call his “laziness” thoughtfulness…he does not take his answers lightly..he may not be a 30 second sound bite but he is the true conservative running in this race…both fiscally and socially.
GO FRED GO!!!!
Thompson’s cleaning up!
Oh, and mark this time as the moment I predict the Paulians will swarm this one just as they swarm every other online poll
watching patiently
Hunter
Shocked after all the campaigning that I have been doing on Hunter’s behalf that all I can muster for him is 10%. I blame you…
I’ll vote for Thompson, in fact, I was in Thompson camp the moment he announced. I guess what I am trying to say is that I pray we end up with Thompson or Hunter.
I voted for Romney, but recently am learning there are a ton of (mostly older?) Repubs who won’t vote for a Mormon for President. So I’m despairing now. I don’t know what to do. Fred?
God help us all.
I just don’t like Giuliani, McCain or Romney, because they’re RINO’s. I would like Thompson as Pres and Huckabee as Vice.
Thompson just does not live up to the MSM’s expectations, he won’t dance for them, for shame…they want pandering sound bites and for each candidate to play their silly games.
I’ll vote for the Republican candidate against any Dem. I just hope it turns out to be Fred…but heck, I’d vote for a toaster oven against the Hildabeest. Much more useful and easier on the eyes.
Thank GOD Rudy is tanking. Just ahaed of “GOD help us”.
Hunter
30pcs. agreed…but I can’t help thinking about that “God help us” comment, fer sure!
Yeah, that one is tempting…
me thinks the God help us’ is more the dems rallying cry than ours were going to tear it up on the 1 on 1 debate. I’m not even sweating. lol
John Ansell, I agree…Gingrich would win over this field. No one could have debated the issues at the same level as Newt.
I agree with the voters…Fred is the only conservative with a chance of winning the general election.
I support Fred Thompson. I don’t like Romney or Rudy because they’re too liberal and I don’t like their past policies and/or comments about immigration and guns.
Wow…I thought I was in the minority. turns out I was in the majority. I wonder if that is how it will go come primary race? Trouble is, so many of these guys trust polls and not the actual voting. By the time it gets out here to the West Coast, so many candidates have dropped out, we really have little choice in the matter.
I just hope everyone will remember what happened to Dean, with his guaranteed win in 2004. Where is he now? I think the term “marginalized” comes to mind.
#3 –
I’m from Iowa, and I don’t know anyone who is voting for Huckabee. Of course, I live in the very liberal University town of Iowa City, so unfortunately I don’t know many people voting Republican at all.
Ask yourself these two questions…
Who is electable?
Who will govern as a conservative?
When you answer these questions honestly only two candidates remain, Mitt and Fred. Pick one!
Just because Mr Tancredo dropped out of the presidential race, does that mean he can’t be considered for VP? Because although still not really decided yet, a Thompson/Tancredo ticket sounds really good to me. T&T, exploding onto the Washington scene…
davenp35: #25,
You could put any two names in place of Mitt and Fred and it would be true according to what they say.
Michelle, you may want to keep an eye on the poll and if the Ron Paul bots get out of hand pushing the poll…you may have to leave him out of it. I had a problem when I did a similar poll.
Thompson not buying into this global warming nonsense moved me over to his camp from Rudy’s. I like Hunter, but raising only $25k in November doesn’t speak well to his organizational capabilities. I like Hunter, but I’m resigned to the fact that he won’t win.
T&T, that’s dynamite! (sorry, had to do it)
Huckabee is the biggest RINO of them all. Take away the pro-life and marriage stances and what makes him conservative?
Hey, a fellow Iowan! I’ve been in Portland, OR for the past 5 years but I’ll probably be moving back to Cedar Rapids (where I was born and raised) within the next year. You know what’s funny, I used to think that I.C. was extremely liberal too…until I moved here. Portland almost makes I.C. look almost bible-belt conservative in comparison.
how long till the paulinians spam it ?
It’s Dyno-mite! You have to say it like J-J from Good Times would.
Ron Paul’s smaller government stance is appealing but he loses me on just about everything else…
I’d vote for Newt, so at this point, I am at God help us.
LOL! I was thinking of the AC/DC song. Had totally forgotten about J-J from Good Times.
If only Paul had a better foreign policy, and would return his Nazi campaign money, I might consider it. But those are two HUGE deal breakers.
How many of these people are ACTUALLY conservative?
all a bunch of big-government interventionists who don’t give a rat’s behind about the Constitution.
Except, of course for R– P—
Brent –
Yes, I often console myself by thinking, “at least I don’t live in Portland [or San Francisco, or Madison, or Boston, etc...]”
But for me, the situation is oppoisite. I moved here from the conservative Northwest Chicago suburbs. So Iowa City is a scary place for me.
Hurry back to Iowa, we can use more conservatives.
I would love to see a Thompson/Hunter ticket. I like Hunter best, but just don’t think he could pull if off. The MSM has done much to try to sell us on the gang of 4 RINOs, while marginalizing the 3 conservatives. Ron Paul is the crazy Uncle most families seem to have.
God help us if a liberal Democrat wins!
My baseless prediction for 08….
(Insert GOP Candidate) beats Clinton in a squeaker.
Fragmentation, stagnation and illegal immigration continue at least four more years.
I’m sorry guys, this one is a write-off, but I do promise to vote for whoever the GOP fronts.
Thompson still beating nearest competitor 2-1. The media keep saying Thompson has no chance, but I don’t think they know. This site has comments from a lot of conservatives from all across the country and I keep hearing more and more support for Fred. I think the media is in for a shock.
Thompson….he’s coming on !!
Thompson is now on fire (good fire – not flaming!) Watch his bus tour the next two weeks.
Save Tancredo to replace lettucehead.
Giuliani: Revisionist of his immmigration policies. Everything his for I’m against and everything his against I’m for. As somebody has said before, his the balding Hillary.
Huckabee: Gomer meets Mahmoud Ahmadinejad. Open border maniac.
Hunter: Who?
McCain: Open borders zealot, Keatings 5, McCain-Feingold, McCain-Kennedy. Now a new scandal brewing. No surprise.
Romney: Flip-Flopper but nice hair.
Paul: Racist, facist, isolationist nutjob.
Thompson: Hello, I’m Senator Fred Thompson. Even though not 100% conservative I did play one on TV. The fact that he didn’t think Bill Clinton didn’t deserve to be impeached speaks volumes to me.
None of the above: Sure looks that way to me
God help us: Please strike some sense into Condi Rice so she will run for president.
No RINO’s and CINO’s ‘08
There are Iowans here, doesn’t mean we like the Huckster.
Rudy over Hunter?
Really?
Huckabee is another Bush – all the bad without most of the good.
My wife won’t vote for Guiliani to save her life!
Romney? A fine conservative Mormon ran for Gov. out hear in Arizona 5 years ago [Matt Salmon]. Tucson voted for the lesbian! A republican who can’t win Arizona – can’t be President!
Thompson is the man! Most conservative, most presidential!
What so many are missing is that there is a difference between campaigning as a conservative and governing as one. The split is inevitable, given the performance of “conservatives” who do get elected. Every faction points fingers at the other ones when their agendas are not advanced.
It’s easier than admitting that you fell for a snake-oil salesman yet again.
Not very nice and there is no excuse for you, you have access to the internet. tsk, tsk, tsk.
I don’t agree with all of Giuliani’s approaches, and I’m tending towards Thompson, but I could handle seeing Rudy get the nod. Not impressed with Huckie even remotely and Romney rubs me the wrong way. Wish Paul had a little more practical sense guiding his libretarianism.
Thompson is the closest I see to a True Conservative in this group, with the possible exception in Hunter. I don’t expect to believe in everything he does (it would frighten me if he did) but he seems the one most willing to stick by his convictions and beliefs. Even if they are not popular.
I like Hunter but his chances are next to nil because he’s not well known.
What states north of the Mason Dixon could anybody but Mitt or Rudy win?
I like all the front runners except Huckabee. But, the way the electoral votes line up now, we need a winner.
Just wait for the Paul bots to catch wind of that poll.
We do need a winner. Two many conservatives never think strategically though, just with their “gut feelings”. Again I ask…who can win in the general? Who can get the most conservatives to support him (fiscal, defense, and social)? My money’s on Mitt!
Now if the sleeping giant (Fred) would only wake up!
Jon Kerry was the dems strategic pick. How’d that work out?
Well, from what I have learned (since he isn’t rolling in the dough)he is running his campaign ads in targeted areas such as Iowa, New Hampshire and some other place, the name escapes me. In a Texas straw poll he beat out Thompson. He is just got back from Iraq and is once again hitting the campaign trail. I agree that he could be doing more but don’t give up on him just quite yet.
FRED THOMPSON all the way!!
I gave him more money this week and will continue to do so.
Not as bad as it would have been if they had gone with their “gut feeling” candidate Howard Dean!
You took the words right out of my mouth!
Thompson ‘n Tancredo ‘08
T’nT is the ticket!!
…and Hunter is still doing his job in Congress and voting. Apparently, he rescheduled a Michigan visit because he had to vote. The same cannot be said about McCain, Clinton, Dodd or Obama.
That would have been an implosion worth watching. Too bad…
IF Hillary Rotten makes it as the Dem nominee, she will LOSE in a landslide come November 08. Against ANY Republican.
It will be an Anyone But Clinton situation.
I’m not seeing his ads in Iowa…
Oh how I would wish that were true! Maybe it will be.
Thompson doing fine here in Iowa. His start in September wouldn’t have been a problem if there hadn’t been all that primary shuffling. Now it seems that we have to make our collective minds up a little quicker. A Thompson/Hunter ticket would be awesome.
What southern states is Rudy guaranteed to win? Without the south Republicans have nothing.
taylork,#65
You make the point. Kerry came way to close.
I’ve had a “Fred Thompson ‘08″ sticker on my car for 8 months. I’m [bumper]stickin’ with the Fredster, and I like Hunter as veep, too.
??? Mitt’s a conservative???? I live in CT and from what I can tell from across the border, nothing the man did as Gov of MA was even remotely conservative.
Trouble was there was not a true conservative running against Kerry. The guy running against Kerry has proven himself to be rather wimpy.
Go Fred
I think I heard this correctly.
How can you not like Hunter?
i don’t recall john kerry being the stratgic pick from the dems. they thought oooo he was a vietnam vet, he is a shoe-in to this position. having absolutely no real experience other than running a campagin in Mass as senator. he didn’t even have any real legislation that he brought to the senate, as i recall. sort of like their two running neck and neck this time around.
Thompson is just as conservative as Mitt, Hunter, Tancredo, and Guiliani, in my book. i do not see that his record shows his as a absolute conservative of the gop pack. i look at past accomplishments as well as what they are saying. Thompson, has no real experience either than actor and senator. he has not run a large organization or bureaucracy. a senate staff just doesn’t fly in my book.
they are all sounding conservative. i want mitt P and will take either hunter or thompson as VP..
It should be read in its entirety…
http://article.nationalreview.com/?q=YmMxYTUyYzA1YTk2YzE5NGVmNjc0OGFjYWJmNzMzNjI=&p=1
If he is its not in my area. I haven’t seen any from him in awhile.
I’m not surprised to see Fred ahead. I am surprised he’s so far ahead. I don’t know how well the sample here reflects Republicans as a whole, but still, the depth of support is impressive. Of course, one would expect like minded people to both frequent the same blog and support the same candidate.
Right now it’s Hunter for me, and I’ll worry about the electablility issues as we get further down the path.
Mitt certainly looks the most presidential.
I don’t get why people like Thompson so much. Do they really think he’s the second coming of Reagan? He hasn’t served in government in 5 years, and was only a senator for 8. I can’t wrap my head around it.
Drudge says Giuliani has been admitted to the hospital with flu like symptoms.
BTW, Giuliani has questionable ties to oil money, but I do wish him a speedy recovery (from the flu).
McCain stifling NYT?
Hunter’s a good guy too. Right now, I’d vote for Thompson/Tancredo ticket cause Tancredo was my first choice for POTUS ‘08 but would be happy with Thompson/Hunter as well.
The rest have been crossed off my list.
alamedaman
He’s a strong conservative supporting smaller government, the right to life and the rule of law! What else do you want? Because if you don’t understand that, you’re on the wrong site!
Where are the Ronulans?
I think there’s a lot of trolls voting. Thompson, Rudy and Mitt leading? Hahahahahahaha.
1) Giuliani
2) McCain
3) Thompson
4) Romney
Nobody else.
Giuliani and McCain can beat Hillary. Thompson and Romney would have a tougher time.
Huckabee is being built up because the left thinks he will go down in flames in a general election. They are right.
Giuliani is the guy.

I think they got beamed up.
If people could get past all the hyperbole and media criticism, Google Ron Paul and see what’s up. It’s refreshingly straight forward and uncomplicated. No machinations or posturing.
Here’s one place to find them and here.
Here’s my prediction: Ron Paul will be a 3rd party Libertarian candidate who will do a Ross Perot on the Republicans. Can you stand a Clinton-Obama presidency? Egads.
I don’t know, a lot of his support seems to be coming from the left.
If anyone would like to know how the information markets read the primary races, you can check on the Republicans and the Democrats. There’s no market for the Green Party–not surprising, given the Greens’ abhorrence of markets.
I wouldn’t be so sure he’d do a Ross Perot on Republicans, given that Paul draws a lot of his support from the anti-war nutroots and 9/11 Troof movement.
Thompson got my vote.
A TnT ticket would be good, but I would prefer a Thompson/Hunter ticket. And besides, Hunter was a Ranger….how can you not like the man?
I contributed to Tancredo very early on – not that he was viable, but that illegal immigration needs to be debated. I then contributed and backed Hunter – heard him in person several times and admire his discussion of GATT, WTO, and unfair VAT. Thompson is most possible winner of these three, and I just contributed to his campaign. For any naysayers, go read his detailed and thoughtful principles and white papers on his site.
POTUS – Thompson
VEEP – Hunter
Sec. of DHS – Tancredo
Aaahhh …. a perfect world.
