Ok, got it. Thank you for teaching us, the internet public, about perspectives and practices of Spanish-speaking cultures. Let me see what I have learned from her:

Spanish-speaking cultures have no respect for the rule of law. They will violate national sovereignty with impunity. Furthermore they will encourage others to break the law. they will go so far as to indoctrinate the children of native citizens to learn how to circumnavigate the law as reasonable behavior. They think the citizens of the USA owe them entrance, health care, banking services and social services. If they can not legally take these things from US citizens, they will willingly break the law to do so and continue to break the law until they want to stop.

Great lesson, Teach! If I didn’t understand a lot more about the world, people and cultures than your warped project teaches, your education plan would give me a lot of ammunition to become a racist against Spanish speaking cultures. *stupid liberals*

The fact that such a project drew national fire doesn’t surprise Ezra C. Escudero, director of Ohio’s Office of Hispanic/Latino Affairs. He said the immigration issue no longer has a middle ground.

Yeah, that usually is how a right and wrong issue like illegal or legal gets to be.
Its pretty obviously wrong to be here against our wishes and taking the decision that belongs to us and giving it away to anybody that just so happens to be smart enough to take advantage of our generosity.

Ya think, people are fed up with the lies and the stabs in the back they’ve received for the past four decades.
A little well deserved righteous anger directed at wrong thinking and wrong doing is a good thing.

I don’t think the aim of this woman’s “lesson” is to inform them of the problems we (collectively) have created as a result of not properly addressing illegal immigration. If this were an exercise in “thinking like a criminal” in order to STOP said criminal activity, I’d have a different reaction to this story. But this isn’t a CJ class – it’s Spanish.

Quite simply this: we are (supposedly) a country of laws. What kind of signal does it send when we teach in a public school how to circumvent(read: break) a law of the land?

This disregard for law starts at home, well before the children enter school. Be honest now, how many of us have been taking our children somewhere, and conveniently disregarded the speed limit? That’s breaking the law. Setting such an example before our children starts us on the slippery slope of total disregard for the rule of law.

At the very least, our schools should promote obeying laws, not flagrant disregard for them.

Unfortunately, that isn’t the case, and it’s much more widespread than just this particular school and teacher, we all know that.

What’s the harm, when we have college professors who build their entire careers on false pretenses? When discovered, blame someone/anyone else for finding them out – not for admitting they made a mistake.

What’s the harm in telling lies about our troops? What’s the harm in telling lies about the police? What’s the harm in writing laws that we have no intention of ever enforcing?

Haven’t we had enough of that? The harm is that we have an entire generation of children who honestly don’t know the difference between right and wrong! There IS such a thing as right, and there is such a thing as wrong. If we don’t teach these differences and absolutes to our children – and DEMONSTRATE them, then the absolute harm is that we no longer have a country where the rule of law is primary. It becomes complete and utter anarchy.

Can you honestly say you want your children, and their children, to grow up that way?

The students first filled out actual paperwork from the U.S. Citizenship and Immigration Services and, after Vieyra denied them entry, they developed plans to sneak in.

I say turnabout is fair play: Fill out the actual paperwork from the school district to have Vieyra removed from her teaching position. After being denied, develop plans to remove her some other way…

And teaching them Chinese could lead to jobs in International business. Of course if they learn Spanish, they’ll be able to shop in California.

Funny you should mention that…a particular member of my ‘Chinese’ Family…who accomplished all of stated above (#77), just got back from India where he was doing a demonstration for the company he works for…..brought me back a gorgeous scarf.
