The “Shut up, white boy!” woman is the “slum” dweller with a 60-inch TV
Mixed in with the rent-a-rioters who stormed the New Orleans City Council meeting over public housing were a few homegrown thugs who refuse to be weaned from the public teat without a finger-pointing, racial epithet-hurling fight.
Case in point: That angry lady in the BDS shirt shouting “I will not be treated like a slave!” and “Back up and Shut up! Shut up, white boy! Shut up, white boy!” at a citizen attending the council hearing. Watch closely and note that there is a child behind her being subjected to her diatribe against the man. She’s your tax dollars at work:

So, does she look familiar? This Sharon Jasper is the same Sharon Jasper profiled in the New Orleans Times-Picayune sulking in her government-subsidized apartment with hardwood floors and HUGEtastic flat-screen television and complaining that it’s a “slum:”
Jasper moaned:
Sharon Jasper, a former St. Bernard complex resident presented by activists Tuesday as a victim of changing public housing policies, took a moment before the start of the City Hall protest to complain about her subsidized private apartment, which she called a “slum.” A HANO voucher covers her rent on a unit in an old Faubourg St. John home, but she said she faced several hundred dollars in deposit charges and now faces a steep utility bill.
Heaven forbid The Man expect her to pay her own damned security deposits and utility bills like the rest of us!
Sell the behemoth TV, for crying out loud.

“I’m tired of the slum landlords, and I’m tired of the slum houses,” she said.
Pointing across the street to an encampment of homeless people at Duncan Plaza, Jasper said, “I might do better out here with one of these tents.”
Jasper, who later allowed a photographer to tour the subsidized apartment, also complained about missing window screens, a slow leak in a sink, a warped back door and a few other details of a residence that otherwise appeared to have been recently renovated.
Well, if “slums” come with TVs the size of my car, where can I sign up?

I’d ask the reporter who toured Jasper’s government-subsidized apartment if he saw what kind of car(s) she had (any SUVs? Suburbans? huge pick-up trucks?)–but then I’d be accused of, you know, “stalking.”

Beth at My VWRC points out that Jasper “isn’t just some random ‘victim’ picked off the streets by activists. She IS an activist herself, according to none other than the New Orleans Labor Media Project, which is very much a part of the protests.”
Jasper is fighting back. She spearheads a tenant association that is working with the AFL-CIO’s Gulf Coast Revitalization Program to convince local authorities to rehabilitate rather than annihilate public housing stock.
“We, the poor working class, are the people who helped build this city,” Jasper says, jabbing her finger into the air, as if she were about to pull down the menacing barbed wire barrier. “We have a right to return.”
“Working?” Laura at Pursuing Holiness notes that Jasper has admitted to being on the dole for 57 out of her 58 years.
“Right to return?” Taxpayers have a right to tell their government to return their hard-earned money being squandered by race-hustling grievance-mongers like the loud-mouthed TV lady. She should turn her jabbing finger towards herself and follow her own advice:
Shut up.

Mismanagement of one’s finances — and a “low income” person who spends money on flashy luxuries like a 60-inch TV is guilty of mismanagement — does not entitle you to victim status.
Failing to get an education? Irresponsible sexual behavior resulting in unfathered children? Drug addiction? Criminal record? These behaviors don’t make you a victim, and it is time we stop allowing people to claim victim status on the basis of their bad choices and habits.

The ones who go to the stores to buy things using their food stamps and checks wearing their leather trench coats, Starter jerseys and Nike Air Jordans. It is this woman who has a 3000 dollar 69inch High Definition television in her living room and thinks that because she is missing a screen and a faucet leaks she is living in the slums. It is because she feels she is entitled to having “nice things” and that she does not feel the need to work for them and that she feels the world owes her these nice things and anyone who questions her is a racist and if she has to actually work for these nice things like a normal person and member of society then that somehow makes her a “slave” and therefore we, the American tax payer, is subjected to having to purchase her housing, her side-by-side refrigerator/freezer, her utilities etc.
She is not the only one. There are millions more just like her. This is your Democratic Party. This is what your Democratic party is promising them. This is their promise of the “Redistribution of wealth”. Where those that work hard, study hard and make something of their lives, become successful in their own right and grow rich off the sweat of their hard work are to have said wealth taken from them in order to fund these parasites. That way they may live in the way to which the Democrats have allowed them to grow accostomed….or as Hill-Dawg put it…”For the greater good”.
This arrogant woman does not see she has done or is doing anything wrong. In fact, she is proud of her status. She is proud to be living off of your hard earned pay. She is proud that you are working to buy her the nice things she feels she so desperately deserves. This is why she invited the newspaper into her home and allowed them to take those pictures. She feels that what she has is not good enough, and did so in order to gain your pity so that she will get more. You may even go back to the videos of Katrina and find her going through the stores following the hurricane seeking out those much needed provisions to survive….live Nikes, and TV’s and bikes and other essentials. Remember…these are things that she feels she needs, and who are you, the hard working tax payer to question her….White boy?
Nothing will be done about this. How can I tell? It is not hard. Look at the caption the AP put up. She was just “talking” to the gentleman behind her. The Picayune had a perfect chance to go after this and what did they do? Nothing. Bush could say something about it, but he won’t. After all, he hates blacks, remember? Anything anyone says will automatically place them in the racist column for life. Heck…who did they ask to come out and speak on about this? Any white candidate? Nope…the blackest one they had…Obama. The very essence of it speaks of the “Chocolate City” and their very “Chocolate” problem.

The TV and such was probably purchased with all that free money that was flowing forth from FEMA and all the donations given to these people following the hurricane. Sure, it was supposed to go for food, clothing, necessities, housing and the like, but as she has said, she NEEDS these things. One persons extras is another persons necessities. In order for her to feel human, she needs to live better than you. She can’t go out and get a job and work. Didn’t you hear her and that woman from the New Black Panher Party? Only SLAVES work. If you insist that she go out and acquire gainful employment in order to pay her own way in this world…in order to pay things such as rent/mortgage, food, utilities, car apyments, gas, what you are is a racist and a bigot, throwing her back into over 500 years of oppression, making her work for the White Man again, which causes her great mental anguish. That gal sure ain’t missed any meals either. Geez I wish I was as poor as her. Only a 60″ flat screen, oh the indignity. I can’t even afford a flat screen period. Gawd how I hate Nawleans. Some of that trash made it to Atlanta and we are paying the price here also, not as much as Houston and some other places. Once they got the “protected status” roles here it has now become impossible to get them off. Everytime the idea of getting them out of subsidized housing, finding jobs or out of the hotels comes up there is such a ruckus that they get to keep all the freebies.
We had one case here, spolighted by Neal Boortz on his radio show. He called the women living in ahotel who was about to lose her free rent. The hotel manager offered her a job so tht she could pay the rent. She turned him down and went on about how it was “owed” her and you guessed it, she is still living there rent free even though she is perfectly capable of working.
Gang crime is rising and the news reports somewhere there is always the tag line “Katrina survivor” or former resident of New Orleans. Hell their former police chief is now the police chief in Atlanta which might explain the rising crime rate also.
New Orleans policy seemed to be hassle the tourists during Madri Gras but chill out the rest of the time and we will let you get by with it.

There is someone in my family who worked from age 16 to 69, I think these people could work a couple years to help themselves. Oh wait, work is a four-letter word!

The damage and destruction wrought by the government is evident everywhere. They dessimated the American Indian and ruined the culture. Several generations of black men and families have been consigned to ignorance and poverty. The government helped create this mess so calling out “White boy” is actually not totally off base. This woman is an excellent example of a harsh alternate reality: liberalism always creates the exact opposite of its stated intent.

Listen, I live in a community where decent wage-earners subsidize the low-income neighbors. Literally, we are a socialist community, voluntarily paying our neighbors’ housing costs. Long story….blood boils to think…anyway, long story short is that the subsidized folks are the ones with TV’s like this, cars with $1000 rims, 5 kids, and they take vacations every year. Those paying for their neighbors’ housing can’t afford any of that.
Disgusting.
Where is the self-respect and the pride ? Some people have no shame and no responsibility. The mentality of steal first ask question later will sink you in an eternal co-dependency of others. I would rather starved first than get hands-out from the government.
Has anybody checked to see what she pays for Cable to watch on that 60″ HD TV? I’d bet it is fast approaching the $100 a month mark.
Keep in mind that it is conceivable she didn’t pay for that TV. After Katrina, there was a tremendous amount of looting.

And the very existence of New Orleans is a testament to human folly. If I lived in a place that was below sea level and subject to being hit by hurricanes, I would abandon ship and find somewhere else to live.
These are the ‘poor’ people in America that Edwards keeps talking about. It is whatever they say it is. If they call it a slum, then it’s a slum.
I wish people in America would spend some time appreciating that in this country, there are no poor people. I remember asking someone from South Africa what was the biggest difference between the two countries. This was probably 10 years ago and I remember it like it was yesterday. She said ‘In this country, there are no poor people’.
I was shocked at first. She was a client so I did not object. But then I began thinking about it. If these people ever spent time in a truly poor area, they’d reconsider the definition of ’slum’.
Just because everyone doesn’t live in the Biltmore House doesn’t mean they live in a slum.

Criticizing the woman for hr conduct is fine. Criticizing her for her TV is just petty and make people look at sites like this and mock us. How do we know where show got the TV? There is a good chance she got it from one of those rent-a-center type places where you pay a small amount a week for an item for years and years, getting killed with interest rates higher then a loan shark.

I spent 3 years in Bolivia, one of the poorest country in Americas with poverty that one has to see to believe. Since I have returned to the USA I have never seen a person that I consider living in poverty. Poor people there work all day long just to pay for food, if they are lucky enough to find work. An apartment like that, with any TV would put you in the upper middle class. This lady has no idea what it is to be truly poor. Anybody that complains in this country should spend some time in a third world country to see what real suffering is and realize what wonderful opportunities are available here to anybody willing to work and improve themselves.
Why is this woman not working? I don’t see her as disabled or anything.

Long ago I supervised some state employees with marginal education and motivation and it was no joy as they were pretty much impossible to discipline or fire due to AFSCME union rules.
I know that a single woman with two kids got a total of $122 a month back in sixties in Pa. and there was no rent subsidies. Family had no fridge, washer, TV, phone, AC, car, etc. Now many “poor” have standard of living far above many taxpayers in rest of world and even better than some workers here.
Read a story about a woman on welfare struggling to make car insurance payments, cell phone charges, cable TV fees and so on. I’m looking forward to Obami, the haircut with legs or the Hildebeast making the USA a socialist paradise. Work- what is it good for? Absolutely nothing. Everyone will be equal except some more equal like the ruling class in Congress. lo siento mucho.

I think it was in the mid 80’s. I was shopping in a pretty pricey boutique, and
thinking that I really couldn’t ( and wouldn’t ) pay the prices they were asking,
when some black women came into the shop. I didn’t pay much attention to
them until I heard, “Girl, when I get my check next week I’m gonna buy this
dress!” One of the women looked at the dress and said, “You gonna buy a
dress for $350.00 with your check? What your babies gonna eat?” By this time
my ears were wide open. Honest to goodness, she replied,”When I get me a
new man with this dress, he feed my babies.” The same woman, (obviously
new to welfare) said, “The gov’ment give you that money to feed you babies.”
The third woman told her to shut up and quit talking stupid. She said if the
government wanted to give away money, they’d take it and spend it on anything they damned well wanted to. By that time, I would not have left if
someone had tried to pay me to walk out of the door. She took the dress to
the counter and tried to put it on layaway but this little store didn’t do
layaway. They said they would hold it for 1/4 of the price but of course she
didn’t have 1/4 of the price. She huffed out, but about a week and a half
later, I asked the clerk if she sold the orange dress and she said yes, to a
woman that looked at it a week or so earlier.
So much for our tax dollars at work!
When I hear so many welfare recipients, of all ethnic backgrounds and colors, say the government owes them ( I’ve never figured out why they are
owed money from the government), I just want to scream because I think
a lot of them think of welfare payments the same way some people think
of insurance payments. It’s found money and no one gets hurt if you take it.
No, you should give Al Sharpton a call…..I’d love to hear what he has to say to you about the issue.

On welfare for 57 years, rent-free apartment, and clearly given enough extra to buy a TV like that, which most of us cannot afford, and this good-for-nothing piece of… GRRRR I am so damn angry.

In the meantime I work at least 20 hours a week for no pay just to get experience while doing 18 credits at college to try and improve my lot. Because of my color, I cannot apply for most of the hundreds of scholarships that are available because I’m not a ‘minority’ so it is assumed I don’t need nor qualify for help. I am so far below the poverty line it’s only through the generosity of another letting me stay without rent at the moment that I am not homeless, and this nasty selfish woman sits on her fat butt and complains that her renovated apartment and huge TV is not good enough??? I’d like to slap this ‘woman’ across the face very VERY hard.
I hope she gets kicked out on Christmas eve, ungrateful cow. She does not deserve a damn thing.

You’ll always have parasites in every society, feeding off of the working class. It gets the politicians votes. I’ve seen some of the so-called “slums” around Washington, D.C.. Looks like they live better than I do! Nice cars everywhere. Until the day comes when people have to justify their need, billions will be wasted on them. This lady is a lost cause. She is so indocrinated in liberal ways, it looks like there isn’t any hope for her. A wasted life, contributing nothing to anyone. No self-respect, self-worth, or self-esteem.

There was an article in Reader’s Digest about 20 yrs ago about a small town in
TX that had 2 welfare recipients. The mayor and town
council decided that they should work and earn their checks from the government. One was a retarded woman and the other was an elderly man.
There was a small park in front of the courthouse. They were told that from now on it was their job to maintain that park. They raked leaves, trimmed shrubs, painted benches, etc. Then the ACLU appeared and went to court on
behalf of these two people. The judge declared that they had A Right to their
welfare payments and no one had a right to make them work for them. So, the
ACLU lawyers congratulated them on their win in court and left town.
The two people kept showing up to take care of the park and the people that
called the ACLU kept whining about them working for their welfare checks
but they themselves either didn’t see it as work or liked the self respect they
gained in working for their checks.
By the way, who is paying the exorbitant price for the Welfare Queens electricity for the 60 incher and what about all of the addons that they MUST
HAVE to go with that monster? Also, I’ll bet there’s a dish on top of their
“shack” along with cell phones for everyone in the family.
This is what makes me raging mad. Not her race, not her TV. The first thing I thought of was, “someone must have given her that TV, it’s so big.”
Who cares how she got it. If she bought it w/ her own money, she should have bought rent/heat instead. If it was a gift she should have been *mad grateful*. And don’t get me started on cable: with a TV like that you don’t watch 5 channels. Either she’s paying herself (more likely) or else she hooked up w/o paying (which happens in all income brackets).
I’m neither a thief nor an ingrate, and I don’t have cable because after my RENT and TITHE I can’t afford it. Don’t miss it myself, but if she has cable it’s expensive and that money would pay much of her heat bill. Plus, if somebody gives me something you d*mn well won’t catch me saying to anyone, “it’s pitiful what some people give you.”
Wow, this Jasper woman puts such a hole in the argument that Americans deserve reparations because they are black. Lady Jasper deserves reparations in addition to the handouts she already takes? That doesn’t seem very equitable to me.

I could not disagree with you more. She has been getting handouts all her life and has the nerve to bitch, with racism, about it. She is a huge part of the problem and should be cut off assistance to open a position for someone who might take advantage to a hand up not a handout.

I spent 6 years in Colombia….man it was pretty bad in a lot of places there. Most folks in the U.S. have NO IDEA of what real poverty looks like. I’ve seen entire trash dumps inhabited by motherless/fatherless children. Kids running around naked and filthy living at the dump. Thousands of them…and this was just one city dump. Black folks…..well, lets just say….they are always at the very bottom of the totem pole in any Central/South American country you go to. I know, I was there. I visitied many other SA countries while living in Colombia and I can tell you that there is little difference between any of them as far as the average citizen is concerned. We should drop off Ms. Big-Screen here in downtown Barranquilla and see how far she gets with the gimme-gimme attitude. These folks wouldn’t last one week…and I mean….literally…they wouldn’t LAST one week.
Perhaps they (LA) needs to implement a welfare-to-work program similar to MI.

If this woman is living in a “slum”, you should’ve seen my apartment when I started working after college, it was a dump. In fact, the salary I was making as an assistant production manager in an advertising agency, was LOWER than what I could’ve made at McDonald’s.
However, I knew with that experience, and HARD WORK, I would eventually grow into higher positions with higher pay. Yes, it took a long time (20+ years), but I didn’t sit there and feel sorry for myself.
Yeah, this woman or others like her may not have a college degree, but you CAN work yourself and gain higher positions through hard work.
Case in point. I eventually went to graduate school. There was this one black gentleman in my class who was in the Executive MBA program. Believe it or not, he was accepted into the program WITHOUT even having an undergraduate degree. He was accepted because of his essay that described the way of how he worked his way to a management position in a well known high tech company. He started at the bottom. VERY bottom. He eventually earned his MBA degree.
Imagine that.

This is specifically the problem with our ‘democracy’. The founders never intended for everybody to vote. Each household was given a vote. Politics wasn’t something that everyone was supposed to be involved in. Politics was thought a CHORE, a ‘duty’ that the elites did for a while in their lives out of service.
We don’t vote on everything, we vote for people to represent us on issues so that we don’t have to pay attention to what is going on. We are supposed to spend our lives free and doing fun things (pursuing happiness).
But when voting became a ‘right’, our democracy was doomed to fail. Voting was initially a privilege for property owners – PURPOSELY. It was never intended to be a right. When they made it a ‘right’, our country’s democracy became a joke. The founders would have scoffed at the idea that voting was a ‘right’.
I’ve been saying that for 20 years. If you don’t contribute to society, why should you be allowed to determine who its leaders will be? Unfortunately, it’s too late for that in America. We’ve redefined democracy to the point that the word “responsibility” has virtually no meaning in our political system. The only word that matters is “rights”. Millions in this country have been taught to believe they have the “right” to anything they desire with no obligation in return.
