Guess who fell for Bhutto Facebook prank?

Guess who fell for the Bilawal Bhutto Facebook prank? MSM and liberal websites around the globe–from the London Telegraph to MTV to the Huffington Post to AFP and Australia’s ABC News.

The better question is: Who didn’t fall for the hoax?

Caveat emptor. It applies as equally to the dead-tree media as it does online.

Speaking of fake Facebook accounts, someone on Facebook created a bogus account in my name and is using a photo of me from an appearance at an NR summit last year. This is the fake one. And here’s my real one.

Could you post screencaps of the two facebooks sites? No all of us have facebooks accounts, nor desire one.

In sports, screaming “Face” is sometimes done to an opponent when you seriously destroyed their attempt at scoring. So too with this instance: The facebook face!

Indeed, Timothy. Especially since Facebook has some major privacy issues:

Facebook Beacon Privacy Issues Worse Than Previously Thought?

I pass on using the internet for “social networking”.

Ref #7. I can’t remember the last time I heard someone yell “Face” at someone else while playing sports. What a flashback. Making me feel old.

    Commenter numero uno nailed it.

Or as I like to say, “facebook = narcissism central.”

But the larger point that MM highlights is the rush to ‘gator instant information is inherently flawed due to scam /spam A holes who gum up the works.

The beta geeks of decades gone by encountered that very type of flaw at the dawn of the www when the pristine open architect environment which spawned the digital era was spy jacked and trojan horsed by the ugly brothers: joe spammer & ed pornographer.

Now there is a worldwide network dedicated to PWNAGE with its 15 minute fame payoff for the adolescents.

In defense of Facebook, it is a goos way to share pictures with friends and to keep in touch. I don’t like “meeting” people online, but I have friends all over the country, in Europe, China and the Caribbean and things like Facebook allow me to stay “close” to my friends worldwide. It’s not always about narcissism.
