Help pick Hillary’s new campaign theme song

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 7, 2008 03:04 PM

Update: I like Don Surber’s “Muskie.”

***
Hey, remember back in May when Hillary asked supporters to help her choose her new campaign theme song?

She picked Celine Dion’s “You and I,” but dropped the tune earlier this month. It’s time, in light of her teary-eyed performance today, to pick a new one, don’t you think?

My nominees:

A golden oldie: The Tears of a Clown…

Something contemporary: Big Girls Don’t Cry – Personal (Fergie)…

And a little R&B to show her funky diva side…Don’t Take It Personal (Just One of Dem Days)…

Taking up one of the commenters’ suggestions below, here’s Ella Fitzgerald’s version of “Cry Me A River:”

But you’ll see lonely sunsets after all

I have to go with Sarah Brightman’s Don’t Cry For Me, Argentina:

Don’t cry for me Argentina Socialists

Don’t cry for me Argentina Socialists
The truth is I never left you
    All through my wild days
    My mad existence
    I kept my promise
    Don’t keep your distance

    Have I said too much?
There’s nothing more I can think of to say to you
But all you have to do is look at me
To know that every word is true
(It takes a village to raise a child and it takes a government to take care of you to the grave)

How about Crying by Roy Orbison?

    Oh, you wished me well
    You couldn’t tell
That I’d been crying over you
    Crying over you
    When you said, “So long”
    Left me standing all alone
    Alone and crying, crying
    Crying, crying

This is fun. Me and Pop are ROTF.

Adding to my earlier “It’s Over” by Roy Orbison, I would like to also add “Talk To Ya Later” by The Tubes

I met her on the strip
    It was another lost weekend
    The band was too hip
    and the people were twisted
So I asked her for a date
    She reluctantly agreed
And we went to my place
    And she never did leave

She won’t even miss me when she’s gone
That’s ok with me I’ll cry later on

    Been six months
    She hasn’t shut up once
    I tried to explain
    She’s drivin me insane

She won’t even miss me when she’s gone
That’s ok with me I’ll cry later on

    Talk to ya later
Don’t want to hear it again tonight
    I’ll talk to ya later
Just save it for another guy
    Talk to ya later
Don;t want to hear it again tonight
    I’ll just see you around

    Get out
    I’m tellin you now
    Do you catch my drift?
What could be plainer than this

She won’t even miss me when she’s gone,
That’s ok with me I’ll cry later on…

    Movin’ Out – Billy Joel

Hillary works the conventional hall floor
    Greeting supporters on Sunday
Mr. Obama left a note on the door
He said “Sweetie move out to the country”
Ah but working too hard can give you
A heart attack, ack, ack, ack, ack, ack
    You ought-a know by now

    Who needs a 3rd place in Iowa….
Is that all you get for your money?
And it seems such a waste of time
If that’s what it’s all about
Mamma, if that’s movin up then she’s movin out
Mm she’s movin out, mm oo oo uh huh mm hm

You should never argue with a crazy mi mi mi mi mi mind
    You ought-a know by now

She can’t pay all her staff with the overtime
The Hsu’s all but dried up for her money
And if that’s what you have in mind
Then that’s what you’re all about
She’s done movin up and she’s movin out

With a woof and a woof and a royal growl – woof.
As I’d click my heel, all the trees would kneel.
And the mountains bow and the bulls kowtow.
And the sparrow would take wing – If I -If I – were Queen!
Each rabbit would show respect to me. The chipmunks genuflect to me.
Though my tail would lash, I would show compash

Hillary: All right, I’ll go in there to New Hampshire. Wicked Obama or no Wicked Obama, Edwards or no Edwards, I’ll tear them apart. I may not come out alive, but I’m going in there. There’s only one thing I want you fellows to do.

Bill & James Carville: What’s that?

Hillary: Talk me out of it.

Nobody thought of the classic “Hit The Road Jack” by Ray Charles. “Hit the road Jack (Hill)and don’t you come back no more no more no more no more no more… Hit the Road Jack….”

Now here is Bill at 9:00pm tonight. Hillary has lost and the Clintons’ enablers are spinning the story that Barack did not hit the 10% victory margin so it’s really a Hillary win. But meanwhile upstairs, Bill is in the hotel room and he is talking to himself about how he defeated Tsongas by 8% in Dover, New Hampshire back in ‘92 but now nobody is listening to him.So he turns on the radio and hears the Springsteen song “Glory Days”.

“Glory Days. Well, they’ll pass you by, glory days, in the wink of a young girl’s eye, glory days, glory days, glory days”.
