Help pick Hillary’s new campaign theme song
Update: I like Don Surber’s “Muskie.”
***
Hey, remember back in May when Hillary asked supporters to help her choose her new campaign theme song?
She picked Celine Dion’s “You and I,” but dropped the tune earlier this month. It’s time, in light of her teary-eyed performance today, to pick a new one, don’t you think?
My nominees:
A golden oldie: The Tears of a Clown…
Something contemporary: Big Girls Don’t Cry - Personal (Fergie)…
And a little R&B to show her funky diva side…Don’t Take It Personal (Just One of Dem Days)…
Taking up one of the commenters’ suggestions below, here’s Ella Fitzgerald’s version of “Cry Me A River:”

If I were Queen of the Forest,
Not King, not duke, not prince.
My regal robes of the forest, would be satin, not cotton, not chintz.
I’d command each thing, be it fish or fowl.
With a woof and a woof and a royal growl - woof.
As I’d click my heel, all the trees would kneel.
And the mountains bow and the bulls kowtow.
And the sparrow would take wing - If I -If I - were Queen!
Each rabbit would show respect to me. The chipmunks genuflect to me.
Though my tail would lash, I would show compash
For every underling!
If I - If I - were Queen!
Just Queen!
Monarch of all I survey — Mo–na-a-a–a-arch Of all I survey!
And finally - no song - just the final words out of Hillary’s mouth:
(Staying with the Oz theme)
Nobody thought of the classic “Hit The Road Jack” by Ray Charles. “Hit the road Jack (Hill)and don’t you come back no more no more no more no more no more… Hit the Road Jack….”
Now here is Bill at 9:00pm tonight. Hillary has lost and the Clintons’ enablers are spinning the story that Barack did not hit the 10% victory margin so it’s really a Hillary win. But meanwhile upstairs, Bill is in the hotel room and he is talking to himself about how he defeated Tsongas by 8% in Dover, New Hampshire back in ‘92 but now nobody is listening to him.So he turns on the radio and hears the Springsteen song “Glory Days”.
“Glory Days. Well, they’ll pass you by, glory days, in the wink of a young girl’s eye, glory days, glory days, glory days”.
As Bill (hopefully) will be the one-hit wonder of the Clintonistas and “Head East” is where I hope Hillary permanently turns, I offer the following:
Next up on the vinyl revolver we have:
DRAIN YOU - by NIRVANA:
“I don’t care what you think unless it is about me!
it is now my duty to completely DRAIN YOU!”
after that we have - WHERE IS MY MIND - by the PIXIES -
and to top it off we have - PARANOID ANDROID - from RADIOHEAD
I just had to take one long last look at the photo of the dancing Clintons and I just thought of the perfect song for the Clintons as they dance off the stage for the final time (assuming the exit polls are correct!!!!!!!!!!!!).
“They dance alone” by Sting (1988).
