Voting in the NH primary begins when the clock strikes 12. The famous town of Dixville Notch kicks things off at midnight, along with the tiny hamlet of Hart’s Location. Jim Geraghty calls Dixville Notch “quaint, but not predictive.” The Manchester Union Leader is keeping tabs on its primary blog.
Stay tuned for results.
12:02am Eastern. 17 voters in Dixville Notch have cast their ballots.
Some poll numbers from the U-L while we wait…
The polls
* Are the Republican polls correct? Will John McCain win the primary and set himself up as the national front-runner? He was on the ropes last summer, when he fired top staffers as his campaign ran out of money. But he then reverted to his successful 2000 strategy, focused on New Hampshire and held at least 100 town meetings.
Last night’s CNN/WMUR tracking poll showed McCain with a 31 to 26 percent lead over Mitt Romney, with Mike Huckabee at 13 percent and Giuliani and Ron Paul now tied at 10 percent each. But Rasmussen had McCain with only a 1 percentage point lead over Romney, 32 to 31 percent.

Any primary where McCain is predicted to do well is pretty pointless and irrelevant.
Oh My Gosh the great and mighty town of Dixville Notch is voting. I think I hold my breath while until they announce the results. {Gasp}
I can breath again foxnews is reporting Obama and McCain won
Go Fred?
McCain 4
Rommney 2
Guliani 1
Obama 7
Edwards 2
Richardson 1

If McCain is the nominee the Repubs are toast in ‘08.
Photo of the night for Republicans
I agree BOB. McCan’t can’t win.
Since delgates are awarded in proportion to the vote, it looks like McCain and Romney will get about equal numbers.
McCain is a RINO . I would not could not vote for him for three reasons.
1) His policy on Immigration
2) His repeated flirting with becoming a democrat. After 2000 and when Kerry asked him to be his VP
3) McCain Feingold
So let me get this straight. People have been complaining that Duncan Hunter is a true conservative but doesn’t have name recognition to win. But Huckabee takes Iowa?
We are conservative Democrats who are pulling for Romney. Our main issue is illegal immigration and McCain is simply awful on this issue. Our party abandoned us on this issue and we are hoping to support the Republican nominee but not McCain. We see no difference between him and the democrats on this issue.
Several of our friends are and family who are Democrats are also wanting to support a border security Repulican but not McCain.
McCain looks old and worn out on Tv plus all that baggage as far as votes go with being in the Senate for so long,he simply could not win a general election against a liberal but young looking and well spoken Obama with his energy.Just our two cents anyway!
So I guess the hamlet of Hart has an irritating Ron Paul supporter too. I bet he has no friends.
Correction, the link says that Paul got 4 votes. I guess that means that they all live in an apartment together, talking about 9/11 conspiracies and playing Risk without moving any of the pieces.

Two towns filled with independents supported McCain and Obama? No surprise, it’s what’s expected. I have a strange sense that it’s going to be a long and eventful day. If you’d like, you could spend it with me on ROTR.
What’s with these people? How can they support an unelectable McCan’t?
Jees.
Who exactly lives in Dixville Notch anyway?
As long as I can remember roughly 20+ people in Dixville Notch have always voted.
Does this town not grow in population?
If not then why not?
It’s a liberal New England thing.
You get used to it when you see the parades for Snowe/Collins that occur in Maine.
Fox News reported that Dixville Notch has a perfect record – 100% wrong. Wyoming having already awarded delegates kinda takes the wind out of their sails anyway.
On the other hand, the poll of Philadelphia (?) school children has been 100% right and they pick Obama and Romney (on different tickets!), or so says my wife and I always believe her.
That will do for a start. But there is lots more where THAT came from.
I won’t even vote for him even if he could make it on the GOP ticket for Nov.
Only true political junkies like Michelle would be up at this hour analizing a couple dozen votes in NH!
But I’m glad somebody’s keeping an eye on it for me!
Watching the sheeple fall for Obambi hook line and sinker.
New Hampshire Pubbies breakin ranks and registering Deemocrats.
I wonder how people feel about B.Hussein Obambi’s close relationship with the main Muslim tribe back in Kenya who has parlayed deals with IslamoFascist powers to implement sharia law across Kenya?
Think I am makin this stuff up?
We will be taken over from within if this man is elected.
Tomorrow, ABC’s PIAPS ham-smackin coverage will continue as Diane Sawyer covers the “biggest day” of Hillary’s political “career”. Gag.
Another low moment in our history.
#14 Taylor – “playing Risk without moving the pieces” describes Paul’s foreign policy perfectly.
And c’mon guys, lighten up on Dixville Notch and these other small towns. This used to be the way America was. And I might add that true conservatives glory in tradition. There is no greater tradition on primary night in New Hampshire than watching the results come in from these tiny places where time has stood still and America is today as it was yesterday.
Boy, if Clinton finishes poorly, I imagine the tears will really flow! Her goal of taking away the “American Dream” and giving us a gov’t-controlled life (socialism) will take a big hit.
It’s true. I live in Mass, but I always follow the NH politics close. that poll never been wrong since it started. It seems like it’s being downplayed this year for some reason, though. They usally play the kids poll up a lot more. Maybe it’s a local thing.
Before its too late – we better get behind the only guy who can win in november against oslama. All this dreaming about Hunter and Fred – give it up already. Mitt must win.
I think alot of people are hoping for a Hunter/Fred ticket. They just think Hunter doesn’t have the money and Fred doesn’t have the energy, so they’re caving in to the ‘oh well, I guess I’ll have to go with the compromise candidate.” Like Romney or Huckster, or, well I guess all the rest too. There’s still alot of campaigning to do. We haven’t seen South Carolina or Florida yet.

Obama worries me.
Hillary and to a lesser extent Edwards mobilize our sleepy base in a way that none of the GOP candidates do.
Obama is less polarizing. He’s teflon as far as I can see.
Unfortunately, his race, his name and his flirtation with Islam do not alienate enough voters in 2008.
I’m going slightly off-topic, here; does it strike anyone else as funny that Hitlary is acting like she is ENTITLED to the nomination? Dems always were big on entitlements!
McCain should be in Oklahoma with Blooberg and the bunch of formers and losers – he would fit right in.
I thought we saw the ultimate entitlement program in 2000, when Algore was entitled to be president.
So, no, it doesn’t surprise me at all.
Where I don’t like Obama or Clinton (or McCain… or most of the candidates, really), I’m continually amused (read: sickened) how the left gets away with racism yet accuses the right of doing so. I reference a link off of Drudge:
http://thecaucus.blogs.nytimes.com/2008/01/07/civilrights/
I know that we’re all aware that this happens more frequently than the MSM and so forth would have us believe, but this is ludicrous.

Exactly correct, Bear – especially the scary bit about B. Hussein Obama’s interaction with that Muslim animal in Kenya.
But, one won’t learn about that from the general media ubtil we are engulfed in global war.
Also, check out Robert Spencer’s discussion (at FrontPageMag, I believe) of Obama’s actually being considered an apostate by Muslim true believers (which had crossed my mind a few months ago, after reading that he had, in fact, more than once, prayed in a mosque as a kid…thus, making him a Muslim.
If he says he’s a Christian now, then he’s an apostate from Islam, period. To the loony Muslim jihadi cutthroats (literally), it doesn’t matter what anyone else says from here on,
unless…remembering the Muslim tactic of taqiyya (dissembling, lying, deception, etc).
Therefore, I cannot trust B. Hussein Obama…sorry, but I just cannot.
We could be looking at the greatest con job in history, in the making.
Call the Bwaaambulance.
Take a close look at that Dixville Notch photograph and you’ll see that Orville Redenbacher is alive and well and voting early….
hmmmmm
Correct me if I’m wrong, but didn’t McCain turn down the request? I mean, you can justly criticize McCain for quite a bit. . .but being asked by Kerry? Shoot, if it’s that easy to dissuade Republican party voters, all the Democrats need do to win the general election is to take turns picking Republican presidential candidates and asking them if they want to be VP.

Oklahoma “Centrist’s” Meeting –
When Gary Hart (D) came out of the meeting he said, in response to a reporter’s question about running a third party candidate, that they/the group will wait until February when it is more clear who the two party nominees will be. Then they will make a decision if running a third party is necessary, and, in my opinion, which Republican candidate they want to spoil.
This is only slightly off topic, but hey Michelle, wasn’t there supposed to be some kind of blockbuster news conference at the National Press Club yesterday? What gives?
I emailed this story to Michelle last night. Hope she covers it.
On a side note, I’m heading over to the polls to cast my write in vote in a few minutes. Hucksterbee is scheduled for a meet and greet at noon where I’ll be voting.
I noticed at another thread on MM.com that folks are being scolded, in fact being called stupid, for bringing up the fact that Obama’s middle name is Hussein.
Scary.
It’s over at “Clinton Crack-up…”
I misspoke a teensy bit; the comments are being termed stupid, not the bloggers.
But, the scolding is obvious.
The smart people live in southern New Hampshire. That’s where the Route 128 and Nashua high tech folks hang out, when they aren’t located in Boston. Concord is local politics, Manchester is an old mill town, and most of the rest is rural liberals who didn’t migrate to Vermont and those who pride themselves on being “independent”, an alternative term for “obstinate and contrary”. The fall foliage is beautiful, but the politics is funky.
it just goes to show, the media has the ability to control the voters. that is what happened with huck the schmuck. as soon as he showed a rise in the polls in iowa, he was on every hour on the hour live on FOX. they didn’t do that with Romney when he was leading in the polls. i finally got so sick of the huck fest, i started turning it off everytime they mentioned his name. he got a lot of free face time and then after he won Iowa, it was like he is the new face of the republican party! say, what?
mccain, is a democrat operative in the republican party. every time he has reached across the isle to the dems, republicans gave concessions while the dems got everything they wanted. a maverick? no, sabatoge and subterfuge. face of republican party, OMG help us.
huck is not conservative and talk about flip flop? he has changed his position on everything in the past 6 months at least once a month. now one can have a change of mind but this is beyond mind change. he is a clinton clone. he learned from them how to campaign. that should cause republicans to run from voting him in.. but the media blitz of huck the schmuck has convinced some that he is a conservative. the new face of the republican party. blech..
Last nite on Nightline there was a curious incident during one of Obambi’s speeches where he said “We are going to take over!” very emphatically.
Then he paused noticeably and rephrased it by saying “The American people are going to take over their own government. And that is revolutionary.”
Oh. Really. Is that what he meant? Of course, the Nightline guy, who will remain nameless, simply used it to illustrate how “smooth” this knock off artist is on his feet.
Savage was saying yesterday that Obambi is bussing students in from Illinois to fatten his crowds. Wonder where their sleepin?
Anyways, if nominated, Obambi is going to have religion problems big time. His church affiliation in Chicago will not bode well for him. And that whole Muslim thing with Dad will prove pesky, according to my not so humble opinion.
He has been mollycoddled by the press so far. His adversary (Bubba’s gal)has been thrown under the bus. And he has the bloviating David Gergin and the gerbil-like Bob Schiefer oozing oo-la-lahs over the “crowds” Obama is attracting. Ya. Reminds me of the other socialists in Germany in the 30s that were doing that in the name of “Hope”.
Image: Bear1909 hoisting his bowl of Dunkin Donuts cawfee while eyeing the grinning photo of Obama and the jilted underwear model.
Rescue me if I am wrong, but I smell a rat.
Is this is the post?
Never called anyone stupid, only referred to the comment as such.
Interesting, Bear.
I do not think you are at all wrong.
What’s up with these star struck bumpkins from Arkansas? Another reason to distrust the Huckster.
If McCain pulls it off in liberal New Hampshire it will count as his only win. Most of the conservative base in this country are not very happy with this man’s last couple of years in DC. If he is who the RNC decides to run with in November I will not stay home, but will write in “none of the above” before he or an equally dangerous Democrat gets my vote. I’m more interested in what will happen in South Carolina then in the notoriously liberal northeast.

“Out of ballots”?
ROVE, YOU MAGNIFICENT BASTARD!
Oslama must be stopped. Mitt can do it.
Hey, Drudge is reporting that they’re running out of Democrat ballots in NH. Here’s the Sec’y of State information:
AKA William Michael Gardner
Born: 26-Oct-1948
Gender: Male
Race or Ethnicity: White
Occupation: Politician
Party Affiliation: Democratic
Listening for cries of “disenfranchisement” in 3…2…1
I love quotes like this:
“Liberal New Hampshire” was always considered fairly conservative until Rush began calling it liberal. And Romney managed to win the governorship of looney left-win Massachusetts and yet it isn’t held against him.
Oh, and Huck is going to win in ultra-conservative South Carolina, but that’s totally meaningless.
Arranging and ignoring facts to reinforce an opinion. Now THAT’s liberal.
Wow bear. I would have expected way better from a guy of your caliber. You gotta be kidding me on the Obama stuff. Leave the wacko, dangerously authoritarian far, far, far right stuff to guys like granite and the other tin foil hat wearing clowns. Really, really low stuff my man. Barry Goldwater and Ronald Reagan would be embarrassed.
Now that was lunch through the nose funny!
Can someone volunteer to go talk Chris Matthews in off the ledge. He has been so pro-Hillary this may push him over the edge. Never mind, one less MSM wonk to ignore.
Disenfranchisement!
Thanks, DelosWorld!
Someone forget to put up the Please, One Ballot Per Voter signs?
If Hillary should come back and win the election, I would not want to be a resident of Dixville Notch, since that would be the likely future location of the Hillary Clinton National Nuclear Waste Storage Facility.
Bear,
When Obama speaks he scares the living crap out of me.
Half his speaches are about uniting and the other half are about taking over. He’ll drone on about bringing people together across the aisle and then turn around and bark about how the president and Republicans are using 9/11 to create a climate of fear in the U.S. to foment war.
I want to believe that he’s pandering to the squishy left on one side and the revolutionary left on the other. But I’m afraid that what he’s really saying is “When we take over we’ll force everyone to accept our ideas.” Which pretty perfectly describes the modus operandi of the modern American left.
Coworker: I will vote for Obama if the dems choose him to run.
Me: Why?
Co: I want a change – he is for change.
me: What changes?
Co: Huh? Oh… errr, (confusion on face, clock ticks) “he will spend less”.
That, my friends, is why I am worried about Obama being selected over Hillary. To uninformed voters, he is likable, young and his slogan sticks.
Anybody else worried? Or is it just me?
29Victor,
New Hampshire was fairly conservative, until liberal Massachusetts residents started fleeing the state in record numbers. Sadly they are remaking New Hampshire in Massachusetts’ image. Rush had nothing to do with it.
OK, everyone:
JUST
IGNORE
HIM.
If we fail in defending ourselves, thanks in no small part to the aid and comfort trolls currently give, and will continue to give, to our enemy; at least the ostriches, with their heads in the sand, will be appropriately positioned to greet the jihadis (sorry folks; couldn’t resist).
Trolls will continue, as long as they can: to dismiss and minimize the peril we face; to spew forth juvenile, desperate personal insults; to use confusion, obfuscation, and changing the subject as debating tactics; and, of course, to not bother to grow up.

As a NH boy, now living in Mass (and trying desperately to get out ASAP-what came over me?), I agree with you, mojoe.
He refuses to wear a flag lapel pin, he won’t place his hand over his heart for the National Anthem. If/when he’s sworn in will he refuse to swear in on a bible?
I guess it doesn’t matter how un-American a candidate is… he cleaned up in Iowa. Slippery slope, oh no it’s worse than that. Much worse.
“Good news for Obama, bad news for McCain”.No,bad news for Republicans. With his lead, and the Clinton melt-down Obama is going to have a long head-start on whomever we choose in the general election.Too much infighting among Replublicans is going to hand the Presidency to the Dems.
Re my #36 post:
The FrontPageMag article I refer to might be by Daniel Pipes, not by Robert Spencer…or, they might both have written on that topic.
Mea culpa.
Too busy – day job, dontchyaknow.
I didn’t notice any shortage of ballots where I voted. The only thing I did notice was the color of the header on the ballots. The Dhimmicrat ballots were navy blue and the Republican ballots were pink. In fact, the little old lady who X’d out my name after finding it on her list of registered voters was sure to mention it. She said to me in typical condescending and belittling liberal fashion;
“You’re a registered Republican so you get the pink ballot.”
granite,
It’s sad but true. I’m a life-long Masshole, and despite the traffic, taxes and being up to my armpits in Liberals I do love it here.
But then again, I’m lucky enough to live in Foxborough. Home of the soon-to-be (again) World Champion New England Patriots.
*asterisk*
How could they run out of ballots? There are X number of registered voters.
There is one ballot for each voter.
Somebody forgot to tell the “Friends of Hillary” to pick up their ballots BEFORE getting on the bus to N.H.!
Obama’s “When we take over” sounds uncomfortably close to this nightmare.
Give me a break granite. You want to ignore my point because your position is insanely delusional. You and bear basically assert that Obama is a double agent mole planted by the Islamic jihad movement and once elected will finalize the process of implementing the global caliphate and you expect not to be challenged? C’mon. You guys might as well be Alex Jones. Criticize Obama’s experience, his record and/or his policy positions. Lord knows there’s plenty to criticize. But the nonsense you spew…please. BTW, I’m split between McCain and Rudy, so I’m hardly a “liberal troll”.
It’s a Cook County thing.
Remember this?
As was said earlier:
“…to dismiss and minimize the peril we face; to spew forth juvenile, desperate personal insults…”
Res ipsa loquitur.
No further comment necessary.
Sure, getting caught videotaping the opposing sideline before halftime of the 1st game of the season deserves an asterisk.
Jealous much?
If any of you caught Fox and Friends this morning, then you’ll know why I want to give host Brian Kilmead a big SHOUT-OUT for standing up for Fox viewers against Lanny Davis’ “hissy-fit” over the less-than-positive e-mail responses to the show about the veracity-legitimacy of Hillary’s tears ( I’m hearing in my head the 80’s band Tears for Fears’ hit single, Everybody Wants to Rule the of World as I write this)
Davis’ tirade was totally uncalled for, and succinctly underscores the state of turmoil and desperation that must exist right now in the HRC camp.
Kilmead deserves recognition for calling Davis’ attention to the fact that, though Davis would apparently have it otherwise, even Fox viewers have the right to an opinion, and to express it.
For those who missed this above:

Note: Bear’s post is 5 months and change after Ms. Malkin’s scolding.
And yes, Michelle, I’ve had my Mediterranean name (longer than yours) made fun of, too.
No one is making fun of Obama’s middle name.
The point is to take a cold, hard, careful look at Muslim writings, jihadists and their written goals (check out the “al-Qaeda Reader”), the histrory of Islam’s expansion; and the technique of “tamiyya” – again, “deception”, “dissembling”, “lying”, in the furtherance of the expansion of Islam.
Also, bin-Laden, Zawahiri, and the rest of the crazies do not care what the wise, anointed elite in the U.S. think.
If bin-Laden & Zawahiri, or other assorted crazies, might believe that someone who at some past time prayed in a mosque (even once), and now states that he is a Christian, is an apostate; then that person is a marked man, for the rest of his life, as long as the crazies are around.
Or, if the person in question is disssembling; then, like I said, we are being conned BIG time.
What part of
“B.Hussein Obambi’s close relationship with the main Muslim tribe back in Kenya who has parlayed deals with IslamoFascist powers to implement sharia law across Kenya.”
should be laughed at or dismissed?
Anyone got any suggestions as to what we should dismiss and ignore?
Anyone think the death sentence for apostates from Islam is a joke?
Anyone think taqiyya is a figment of the imagination?
Well…anyone?
#70 granite
I retract the statement and defer to your experience, you would know better than I. I just have always heard of NH being center to right until Rush began using their liberalism to beat up on McCain.
But my point still stands (fake but accurate?). Using the political leanings of a state to prove the political leanings of the candidate that wins in that state is not logical.
granite, what shouldn’t be dismissed or ignored are the dangerous and delusional ramblings of people like you.
Yes, you’ve cracked the code… nope. Just stating the truth.
Why would ANYONE vote for McClain when he has turned on the conservatives?
Wants amnesty, he has a temper, he’s too old, and he’s kisses Kennedy’s behind.
So, he was in a war and was a hostage.
He may suffer a syndrome for all we know.
I guess I’ll go for Mitt…lesser of the evils since Fred will be out.
Personally (know this isn’t important), but he looks presidential and he is a very handsome man. He commands attention!
one of the big mistakes fred made was not calling out the huckster as a conservative fraud. as soon as the huckster was moving up in the polls he should have jumped on huck the schmuck as a liberal. instead he kept slamming romney and gave the huckster the lead in iowa.
now, if fred wants to go anywhere he needs to start going after Huck the schmuck to get the votes away from him. had he done that in Iowa he would have been the unbeatable winner. fact is, he didn’t, and now if he doesn’t win SC.. well he is gone.
Look in the footnotes and you’ll see that the asterisk means….
*16-0
*Bill Belichick, NFL coach of the year
*Tom Brady, NFL most valuable player
I can live with that.
