John Kerry tries to make himself relevant; “Let the healing begin” again
Update 12:28pm Eastern: The rally has begun. John Kerry’s endorsement recycles his “healing” rhetoric. Silky reacts.
Update: Ha.

I’m not sure why it warrants a Drudge siren, but the Associated Press is reporting that John Kerry will endorse Barack Obama: “Kerry, a senator from Massachusetts, plans to announce his support Thursday at a rally at the College of Charleston, said a Democrat familiar with Kerry’s decision. The 2004 nominee will argue that Obama can best unite the country and has the potential to create transformational change, the person said.”
Will he be for Obama before he’s against him? Because, you know, he’s kind of famous for that…

Ed Morrissey diagnoses typical Kerryism:
Kerry seems a much better fit for the Clinton team. They’re both Establishment, and both equally accomplished in Congress. He’s somewhat more liberal than Hillary, but his platform on the Iraq war in 2004 comes closer to her position than Obama’s. Hillary campaigned for him in 2004 with much more effect than Obama did, even if she didn’t seem terribly enthusiastic about it at the time.
And why announce this in South Carolina, of all places? Wouldn’t this have helped more three days ago in Manchester, New Hampshire? If Kerry had done it there and then, it would have had much more influence on his neighboring state than a Yankee coming to Charleston. This seems like vintage Kerry — a day late and a dollar short.
Barack Obama may appreciate the sentiment, but he’s not likely to get much of a boost from this endorsement. Considering the stink still coming from his 2004 campaign, it’s more likely to repel voters than to attract them.

the siren must be so that it’s seared, seared into our brains that he’s endorsed someone…
That’s the kiss of death.
Who?
lol. clearly Kerry’s bitter about the lack of support Clinton offered him during his failed bid.
AJ you know that war hero guy….remember.
Interesting how his choice for VP in 2004 isn’t the man he thinks “can best unite the country”…..
Really shows the truth behind politics, doesn’t it?
JRL – and just when has truth ever meant anything to Kerry?
Is this him?
Kerry?
Or honor, for that matter.
WOW! Another Billionaire weights in with his endorsement. Billionaires sure do love big government and socialism.
It’s how they got so rich…
On the backs of the citizenry.
AJ – Yes Thats him..lol
See, meatpie, you, too could be a billionaire – if you married right. And whe n the first fortune runs out, marry someone richer. Works every time!
Maybe John Kerry will throw Obama over a fence. All we hope for is a bottomless pit on the other side.
That has to piss off his former running mate Edwards. I suppose Silky is crying in his cheerios this morning.
I’ll bet Clinton put him up to it. It will surely bring down Obama’s popularity because all any of his supporters can say is that they love his charisma. I think Kerry’s absolute lake of charisma or a pulse for that matter will neutralize Obama’s charisma and therefore his appeal.
I am trying to care about anything Kerry says or does by I just can’t quite get there.
That changes everything!
That’ll be the only way that Obama will get into the White House because he surely won’t be going through the front door.
I guess Tereasaaa said it was O.K. to do so.
Why is this a surprise? It was well known that Kerry’s folks had issues with Clintoninstas what worked with his campaign. It is also well known that he never clicked with Edwards.
AP says:
Wow. Checkmate?
Too initllectual, and “game, set, and match” is too athletic. How about just “oops!”
intellectual – my bad.
I was just reading about the Obama endorsement by Kerry a few moments ago in an article on Fox News’ site.
Now, the question has to be how Obama will play this up or, if he’s smart, down.
I have to agree with twiggman, this has the potential to be the “kiss of death” for Obama.
I suspect bloghooligan is pretty much on the money that Kerry still holds a grudge for the Clinton machine not coming out more in support of him in 2004. Even Kerry couldn’t be so dense as to believe that the Clintons didn’t have aspirations of residing at Pennsylvania Avenue again and that an incumbent Democrat would have been the last thing they wanted in 2008. Come on John! Get some brains to go with the money you married into.
I hardly think this requires nor rates a siren let alone much of a report. Kerry has been irrelevant since his days flirting with Hanoi Jane, he should retire and enjoy the life of a kept man with his latest conquest. He is not oing to regain manhood nor respect via political machinations.
It has to be related to the right-wing conspiracy. How did Karl Rove trick Kerry into doing this?
Maybe Kerry is jockeying for a VP position.
Maybe John Kerry will announce his support for Obama in Green Bay at “Lambert Field”!!!!!! Maybe he will announce his support for Obama in front of the starting point at the Boston Marathon. I still recall Kerry boasting that he ran and finished a Boston Marathon. Kerry was careful not to say which year he did it because that way somebody might actually look up the race records and check on his veracity. But even better, maybe Kerry can announce his support for Obama deep in Cambodia at the spot where he supposedly was in Christmas, 1968. If you recall, he gave an emotional speech saying how angry he was when he was in Cambodia at the time and heard President Nixon saying “The US is not in Cambodia”. Only one problem. Nixon was not president on Christmas, 1968. Ah John Kerry, I miss him already. So much fun watching him lose his temper.
Who puts Ketchup on a Hot Dog?
I have been known to put ketchup on a hotdog, along with some mustard, from time to time, AJ. But, one thing of which my wife and I area adamant, we do not buy Heinz brand ketchup to keep in our house.
Sorry. Area should be are. Danged typos!
John “Liveshot” Kerry…..how can we miss you if you won’t go away ?
I wonder if Kerry had Ted Kennedy’s permission to do this. Or if he will cast his vote one way, and then change it after conferring with Kennedy as he has been known to do in the Senate.
Exactly what I thought…useless fart.
I remember running across a similar sentiment in a Clint Eastwood movie and being surprised by it. Where I come from it’s a common practice.
Barry F. had it right. I don’t use Heinz.
“John Kerry tries to make himself relevant”
I didn’t think he had to try.
It would be sort of like water trying to flow downhill.
Oops!
Sorry, I misread the word as “irrelevant”.
Not enough coffee yet, I guess.
Well, if Kerry can’t get anything out of endorsing Obama, he’ll pull another of his famous flip-flops. Just like a little kid hanging around the big kids…constantly seeking attention and acceptance but getting ignored for the effort.

Same here.
My wise wife decided during the ‘04 campaign season that we wouldn’t use Heinz anymore…and we don’t.
That statement there just sprays gasoline on the fire. “Strong voice on national security”? The last time he was a strong voice on national security, he was advocating surrender to North Vietnam.
“… a respected elder of the Democratic establishment.” And how dare he usurp the position that Teddy has staked out for himself?
I realize that they’re both from Mass(and I do extend my sympathies to any of you unfortunate enough to live there), and two sides of the same coin, but Teddy always has to be on top!
lol, you guys I wasnt talking about Hot Dogs literally, Ketchup meaning Kerry, Hot Dog meaning Obama….
Yeah, you got me AJ. But keep in mind that Kerry thinks he’s a hot dog.
More like a wiener dog…
Larraby,
Did you mean Lambeau Field?
Hillary’s hoping that if she cries, he’ll flip-flop and endorse her.
I think he did, it’s the field where Packer fans will be sent home crying this saturday after getting spanked by the Seahawks! Ha!
French kiss of death!
AJ,
It was a rhetorical question
I got the impression that Larraby intentionally spelled it that way, since he had it in quotes, to cite something Kerry must have said in the past.
I was not familiar with Kerry pronouncing the name of the field incorrectly before. However, that doesn’t mean anything. I may have forgotten it or just never heard of it before.
But, it certainly is within the realm of possibility with Kerry.
You nailed it. At a campaign stop in Saint Louis, Kerry repeatedly referred to the airport–aka Lambert Field–as Lambeau Field.
ah poor edwards, didn’t get his former lover’s endorsement go figure?
i am waiting for the goreical to finally endorse… who will it be???
Ahhh! Thanks, TexasTiger. I did not remember hearing him do that.
I’m pretty sure it won’t be Hillary that Gore endorses. From what I can see, there still isn’t much love between the Clintons and the former-VP in their administration.
I fear Kerry might be selected to fill a cabinet post if one of the Dims is elected. Hope I am wrong, but could you imagine him as SecDef or Homeland Security?
Poor John Kerry, always playing “ketchup”…
“Don’t Tuh-raz-uh me Bro’!”
Oh, crap! You just made me spit coffee across my desk!
I agree that Hussein Barrack Obama should flee from this endorsement from comrade kerry or he risks the possibility of having is presidential aspirations “swiftboated” by hitlery and company.
Personally-hitlery doesn’t stand a chance of winning the presidency(Hussein Barrack Obama does) and believe that almost any Republican candiate can beat her.
GSP
Sorry Barry.
I’m just waiting for Hillary’s Kerry Moment when she says “I can’t believe I’m losing to this Bleeping Bleep.”
Karl Rowe’s master stroke of genius was getting the democrats to coronate Nancy Pelosi Speaker of the House. That is the day Hillary lost her chance to be President. If she ever really had one.
There can be only one Queen of the democrats and its Nancy. She has the power not Hillary and the Queen rewards good behavior and punishes bad. John Kerry is being an obedient court jester.
Carp. Sucked in and now:
must.go.throw.up
Kerry’s reference to “Lambert Field” was one of the hilarious things that Kerry did back in 2004. I miss him so much. Obama never does dumb things like that. But the most priceless thing Kerry did was when he was campaigning in Philadelphia back in 2004 and he made the obligatory campaign stop at Pat’s Steak House.(For movie buffs there is a scene in the original Rocky where Rocky goes to Pat’s late at night and eats a Philly cheese steak.)
When Kerry went into Pats, he asked the counterman to “put some provolone” on his cheese steak. It was truly a laugh out loud moment. Kerry has got to be the only person in the history of Pat’s Steak House to ask for “provolone”. Obama will never do something this stupid. I miss Kerry already!
I might “miss Kerry”, if he would go away for a while. But, alas, he won’t. So, I don’t.
Did John Boy ask Barry before he unloaded his barge onto Barry’s lil dinghy?
Oops.
(OT: Hi Tur-Ray-za! How much is the Tides Foundation giving to Barry’s “community development trust” in 2008?)
Puke.
Ol Candle Face should’ve at least worn a wet suit or bikin’ shorts while giving the endorkment to Barry Obambi.
Image: Bear1909 smearing honey all over the back of Ol Candleface’s suit in preparation for all the hugging that is sure to go on during the aftermath.
Tur-Ray-zahhhhhhhh! Give Barry a big smoochie.
Eww.
Didn’t hypocrite John Francois sKerry
harshly criticize the outsourcing of US jobs overseas and then it turns out that Heinz Corp. is a big beneficiary of that practice?
Bush as his many shortcomings but can you imagine Lurch running things the last three years? Of course we then missed the nuanced, French speaking, cultured, get along with the Euroweenies, windsurfing aspects of J f’n Kerry as POTUS. If I were a billionaire, I cannot imagine what I’d find attractive about the creep.
LOL
Me bear1909 has spoken!
Well, obviously, Obama decided not to downplay the endorsement by Kerry.
Kerry joining the Obama campaign reminds me of the puchline to an old golf joke:
A guy’s golf partner dies of a heart attack on the fifth hole. Back at the club house he was asked “What did you do?” He replied “Hit the ball, drag old Charlie. Hit the ball, drag old Charlie.” Kerry’s going to be his ‘Charlie’.
Who could forget his famous Red Sox Player….Manny Ortez
Kerry’s like an old stripper. Just can’t stay out of the limelight.
Who’s next? Jane Fonda.
John Kerry is a traitor……
Watch Stolen Honor and learn what the foundation of this puke is built upon.

If it weren’t for bacterium like John Kerry, ther would be nothing to heal from.
Dim the lights, Puh-leeeze!
The “kiss of death” for Obama….
