Fred vs. Huck: The Metamucil wars
Supposedly positive campaigner Mike Huckabee takes a jab at Fred Thompson by joking on Joe Scarborough’s show that Thompson “needs some Metamucil.”
Thompson responds on Mark Levin’s radio show.
Huck follows up by cuddling with the press.
So, which do you prefer: Fred’s political constipation or Huckabee’s diarrhea of the mouth?

When you hold a campaign song competition for Huckabee, my entry will be “Cruel to be Kind” by Nick Lowe.
I would take Fred’s straight talk (if we can use that phrase with any politician) over the evasive babble of the Huckster any day.
Over at hotair, I just said since Fred wouldn’t go there I would. After the metamucil comment, maybe Huck needs immodium to stop all the stuff coming out of his mouth.
Metamucil defense, Huck de Dumpty was called out and thats all he can come up with? Fred would tear him or any other candidate to shreds on issues and his/her White House bid.
I prefer Fred’s over Huck the Schmuck. He has played the WWJD; and it isn’t even close. Rotten Fruit.
So I’ll take a little fresh citrus fruit Metamucil rather than the rotten fruit of the huckster.
I’m getting a bumper sticker made that says “McCain… I guess.. unless you have a better idea”.
Metamucil would be like cryptonite to the Huckster. I mean, the man is so full of crap that his eyes are turning brown. One good shot of Metamucil, there would be nothing left but a hollow shell.

If Huckabee gets the nomination, I will vote Democrat. There’s little difference between the two anyhow - but at least the Democrat admits to what he/she is.
The slick Huckster is trying to get the focus off his views and political record just as Fred said. The slime comes out of Huck’s mouth with an ease than rivals slick Willy.
Go get him, Fred. Stop the BS and let’s hear issues.
ChePibe, you got it right do you want a liberal (D) or a liberal (R). Cause the two (Huck/McCain) Liberal (R)’s are in denial and keep calling themselves conservatives.
I’ll take metamucil, alway’s consistent and I alway’s feel good afterward’s.
If you have to take Imodium your never consitent it’s alway disgusting and you almost never feel good abou it in the first place.
Most of the GOP adherents could greatly benefit from relief of their constipated thinking. The idea that standard GOP dogma is somehow the right course is most definitely a symptom. When the argument has been reduced to comparing Fred and Rawmoney’s stature and gravitas, then we’ve completely lost sight of what’s truly important.
I can see it now. President Huckabee negotiating with an enemy of the US (pick anyone you choose) and charmingly spitting out one-liners, truisms, Scriptural references, juvenile name calling, et al.
I would prefer Freds political constipation, over diarrhea any day.

When Fred debates he is like a teacher. When Huckabee debates he is like a clown. His one liners have become tedious. I’ll take Fred!
At least they didn’t have the runs like Obama’s pilot today trying to quickly park at Midway airport in Chicago at 2:45 AM when he clipped the wing of another plane in his hurry to get Obama there to meet his wife for a day off with the family. Coming from Las Vegas, maybe the pilot was gratefully remembering what happens in Vegas stay in Vegas.

I’ll take fred over Huck any day of the week. Fred whooped on Huck at the debate and pointed out the truth and now Huck’s all butt-hurt over it.
Fred is dead in the water……. Still my first choice for GOP nomination, but it is really looking like he is a waste of a vote.

I think Fred is just beginning to get hot and at the right time. IMO, I think the primaries all started way too early. Looks like some peaked too soon.
I would like to see Hunter/Thompson or either way round. I’d also like to hear Fred talk about his proposals more rather than how he is going to run his campaign. I’ve heard him interviewed twice and he did not say one thing about what he is for just how he is running a different campaign from the others. Ya, ya, I know I’ve read his website but I’m probably only one of 2% of the public that has.

SirKnob, I think you’re pretty much on target here. It looks more and more like he is about as empty a candidate as you can find but, as usual, full of the typical duck and dodge on the issues B.S. as they come.
My problem is, I haven’t been able to figure out the lesser of the other evils to know for whom I am going to vote on Super Tuesday. *sigh*
If you were waiting on a date with Heidi Klum as #1 and Rosanne Barr was #2 would you go for number 2 if #1 was later than #2? I think not, Just because fred chose not to enter a year ago is no reason to pick #2. To late? keep thinking that way and we’ll end up with Rosanne Barr. Fred is the best man for the Presidency Barr none.
I agree with AJ. This “Fred is too late” stuff could become a self-fulfilling prophecy. With the way front runners tend to fall by the wayside in the nomination process (remember Howard Dean?) Fred’s timing could be just right. I’ve been keeping up with his website and he’s experiencing a BIG surge in donations and new members since the SC debate.

I really don’t see how it is a wasted vote? Fred entered the race at the perscribed time as all other election’s before. Of course like I’ve said before the Democrap’s have done it again shuffled the unwritten rules around to try and take advantage of the Political climate, what does this tell you about the cavalcade of Republican’s that followed along? With one exception Fred Thompson this tell’s me that he is not buying into this Bull of starting a year before any other candidate before the 2008 election cycle. The Democrap’s have done nothing but try to change all of the unwritten moral and ethical rule’s that have controlled gentlmen’s behavior in the past. How many time’s have we heard the statement “This has never been done before in the history of politic’s” when the Democrap’s pull some bogus BS in the House or Senate. So this is just another thing we can make that statement about. Is Fred the perfect candidate? No but neither was as some one mentioned the name Teddy Roosevelt or Ronald Reagan but look at what great good they did for our country and made themselve’s two of the greatest President’s this country has ever and maybe will ever see. Earlier I was undecided until this last debate and now Fred has earned my vote on Feb. 5

What’s up with this nearly universal anti-Huckabee spin? The problem Republicans have with Huckabee is that he is an honest, candid, principled man who is not governed by the Republican machine.
The case is even worse for those who oppose Ron Paul. Paul is the only candidate that possesses the stones to actually say he supports The Constitution of The United States of America. The Republican machine is horrified that such a radical politician even exists! Imagine that: a President who wants to enforce the Constitution! The horror of it all!
So the truth remains that the best candidates are shunned by “the machine.” Too bad one of the outsiders is actually doing fairly well in the primaries.
So is Jimmy Swaggert, Jim Baker and Benny Hinn.
As an Arkansas resident who considers himself a pretty good observer of Mike Huckabee, I don’t care for him because he’s a liberal IMO, and I’m not. He’s never met an illegal alien he didn’t like. He did, in fact, release many prisoners, at least one of whom murdered an innocent woman not long after his release. Also, he strikes me as another Slick Willie…smooth, but anything but what he claims to be.
The more I hear from him, the less I like him, and he wouldn’t have a prayer, (OK maybe he would have a prayer), but his chances of winning the presidential election are slim to none.
I’m hoping, by the time the convention rolls around, McCain and the rest would have burned themselves and each other out. People would be so sick of hearing them, Fred would have all ears. Personally, I’m sick of them already. Every day, same old,same old. (Not a sermon, just a thought).
No contest in our house we prefer Thompson and Hunter over any of the RINOs that have been getting most of the press coverage. I like the fact that Fred waited until the traditional time to throw his hat in the ring instead of jumping in early like the rest of the “look at me crowd.” I am getting so burned out on the pandering by the rest of the crowd that won’t do squat, but sell out to the liberals if they were to get into office.
He reminds me more of Mr. Haney from Green Acres with a little Jimmy Swaggart thrown in for good measure.
