fatman, you implied in your original comment that Sen. Clinton's campaign appearance in a church triggered a violation of the establishment clause of the 1st amendment ("separation of church and state"). The tax issue to which you subsequently referred is a separate issue genius.

I'm far from a "lefty troll" you pompous buffoon. Traditioinal/old school conservative who has no time for Christian right wing extremists like you.

fatman, may I suggest you review the content of the various articles uncovered by your Google search and get back to me on the “state action” issue as it relates to the subject matter of this thread.

May I suggest you learn how to read, lefty troll.

Here, let me make this as simple as possible for you.

If you are a campaigning politician, speaking in a church can now somehow endanger that church's tax-exempt status.

The "state action" in question is a campaigning politician speaking in a church.

Hillary is a campaigning politician.

The blog post is about Hillary speaking in a church.

The joke is that there are no legal complaints when Hillary speaks in a church, but there are when anyone else does.

Here's a excerpt from a link from the first Google page:

A June 23 appearance by Democratic presidential candidate Senator Barack Obama at the General Synod of the United Church of Christ is now the subject of a formal complaint filed with the Internal Revenue Service on August 2.

Portions of the redacted documents obtained by the website UCC Truths, a growing online gathering for dissenters from the church leadership's rigid left-wing political orthodoxy, were published August 27. Those redacted documents have now been obtained by The American Spectator.

The complaint, addressed to Lois Lerner, the Director of the Exempt Organizations Division of the Internal Revenue Service, formally asks the IRS to "investigate the United Church of Christ," identified in the complaint as "a 501 (3) (c) non-profit religious entity" for violating "federal tax law banning political campaign intervention." The redaction has blacked out the name of the filer.

The complaint alleges the UCC "violated every single point outlined in the IRS guidelines," in sponsoring the Illinois Senator's appearance at the church's bi-annual national gathering, which this year was held in the Hartford Civic Center in the Connecticut capital. It charges:

* "The United Church of Christ selectively provided the convention facilities for Sen. Obama to speak in support of his campaign."

* "The United Church of Christ and Sen. Obama referenced his candidacy before and during the speech."

* "Clear and deliberate campaign activity occurred in connection with the [sic] Sen. Obama's attendance and speech."

Specifically the complaint references guidelines that an individual addressing the church does so "only in a non-candidate capacity," that the individual makes no "mention of his or her candidacy or the election," and that "no campaign activity occurs in connection with the candidate's attendance." The complaint also cites a guideline that prohibits a church from mentioning an individual's political candidacy or the upcoming election in "the communications announcing the candidate's attendance at the event." Both a video and a transcript of Obama's speech are available on the UCC website and apparently will be present throughout the election.

Now go leave troll droppings elsewhere.

Mule, Jesus making the call on who’s a “true” Christian and who’s not makes sense to me. Soapbox making that call? Not so much.

Just to clarify there was not Christianity until Jesus was crucified it was a Jewish temple.

IMO anyone that would stand on a pulpit in a Christian Church should have there Christianity questioned and I mean anybody, National politic's do not belong in the church period.

#26:

Funny, I don’t ever remember using the word “victim” to describe Mrs. Clinton. That wasn’t my point.

sunshinerbray, I was merely continuing a thought, not putting words in your mouth. The point I inferred from your previous post was that we shouldn't attack her on the sex scandal. My point was that if she's using it to garner sympathy from women, it cannot then be off-limits to us to comment on it.

And if she is using it for political gain what’s the problem with that?

The problem comes when it becomes something in people's minds that cannot be discussed or contested because she was an alleged victim in that scenario.

If she can use it for political gain, it can be used to counter that gain. To suggest that it's off-limits is wrong-minded, in my opinion.

She wants to win, like everyone else. How is that different than Huckabee’s push polls or Obama pulling the race card?

It's not different, but that comparison wasn't the topic of this thread. We can dislike all three (and do).

Oh, and #32:

Didn’t realize it was a “burn” contest.

I know this wasn't directed to me, but I just wanted to clarify that the purpose of my response wasn't to flame. I was merely responding with my opinion.

box, just so I have this straight, your God would be okay with the tone and content of your original comment in this thread? And that same God has endowed you with some sort of supernatural ability to determine whether or not someone, specifically Sen. Clinton, is a “true” Christian? Wow, that’s pretty impressive.

Tell me did Jesus walk into the temple and say to the money changer's and dove seller's. Look guy's I know your just trying to make a buck, but I wished you would'nt do it in the temple.
No he did'nt he went and turned the table's over in anger and called them out, "you have made it a den of thieves" (Jeremiah 7:11) The reference to den of thieves may be a reference to inflated pricing or more sinister forms of using religion to exploit the poor.

Soap is calling her faith into question as Jesus did the money changer's and dove seller's was Jesus wrong for doing so?

Another thing I don't get - Huckabee does a Christmas commercial with a book case that looks like a cross and gets all kinds of grief about it.
This is definitly a cross above the Hildabeast and nothing.
I guess that's par for the course.

One more post, Soapbox, and I'm finished.

If a troll is someone posting something to get an emotional response, I don't see how your calling me an idiot wouldn't qualify under your own definition.

All I'm saying is, I don't see anything different in what she's doing and what tons of other politicians do, which is use personal experiences for political gain. I'm also tired of the "yeah, but there was a whole sex scandal..." line. There are plenty - PLENTY - of things to be said about her and myriad reasons she'd be a terrible choice for president.

And as a postscript, my personal definition of hell is Hillary Clinton as president. But let's debate her on the merits, and not on this.

box, just so I have this straight, your God would be okay with the tone and content of your original comment in this thread? And that same God has endowed you with some sort of supernatural ability to determine whether or not someone, specifically Sen. Clinton, is a "true" Christian? Wow, that's pretty impressive.

fatman, may I suggest you review the content of the various articles uncovered by your Google search and get back to me on the "state action" issue as it relates to the subject matter of this thread.

Violation of terms:

Posting off topic.

Troll:

Posting to get an emotional response or attacking someone without provocation.

Id10t:

Someone who defends dakine

P.S. Who is bent out of shape? Seems you are pal. I do not let people like you and dakine get to me but I also do not let your attacks go without comment. Oh, BTW, dakine has a problem and I have asked him to keep me far from them. Go back and see if I addressed him first.

On topic: Shill should expect to get ridiculed by those of us who can see through her. I expect it as I am transparent.
