Dems to Bill Clinton: Shut up!

I hope he doesn’t take their advice. I’m enjoying tuning in to see what color Bill Clinton’s face is turning each morning and who’s on the receiving end of his campaign finger-wagging. Newsweek delivers the news:

Prominent Democrats are upset with the aggressive role that Bill Clinton is playing in the 2008 campaign, a role they believe is inappropriate for a former president and the titular head of the Democratic Party. In recent weeks, Sen. Edward Kennedy and Rep. Rahm Emanuel, both currently neutral in the Democratic contest, have told their old friend heatedly on the phone that he needs to change his tone and stop attacking Sen. Barack Obama, according to two sources familiar with the conversations who asked for anonymity because of their sensitive nature. Clinton, Kennedy and Emanuel all declined to comment.

I’ve always heard it said that everybody eventually gets what is coming to them. It looks as if the Clintonistas are finally getting their just reward. Although they still have time to recover, I have to agree with Zorro. I just don’t think their egos and sense of entitlement will allow them to get there. I’m loving their self destruction so far. Hopefully before long we will be able to focus on Obama and keeping his hands off the Presidency. Who knows though maybe a long drawn out struggle for the democRATic nomination will make him ineffective as well.

How many days will Hillary or Obama refuse leave… “sit in” i.e. leave the Whitehouse in response to a national emergency.

Contrary to conventional psycho-wisdom, criminals - that is to say, real career criminals - have immense and boundless egos that require regular feeding. They must talk.

Ergo, I do not expect Mr. Clinton to stop talking anytime soon.

Meanwhile, back to our problem of picking the next President from this remaining field of Orwellian candidates………..

Clinton has debased the office of the President while serving as Commander and Chief, did they really think that would change after he was no longer serving? He is hungry for power and wants his 3rd and 4th term through the transference that will happen if Hitlery wins. He can’t control himself. Yes, he is showing the Black Community that they have just been the tools of the Democrat Party and this is going to cause a split in the party beyond what the Dems can handle. I think this shows the fracturing of the Democratic Party. Although, you hear all the pundits calling the Republican party fractured and torn to pieces unable to rebuild. I don’t think this is true. I think, however, that the racial tensions showing up in the votes will fracture the Dems decisively. One can dream.

I was looking at a few postings on other Web sites and blogs today that are definitely left leaning. I was amazed to find that the majority of comments were blasting Bill and supporting one of the other candidates. Then it struck me, he’s still trying to define his legacy. He sees it all falling apart; he is being replaced. Partly, I don’t think he is as concerned about Hillary as he is about what this will say about him if she doesn’t win.

Do you remember the days that no matter what Bill did or said, not a single Democrat would say anything negative about him? It brings a smile to my face to see him being attacked by his own now.

    Two points:

    1. Bill Clinton cannot shut up. As Dick Morris has said, Bill Clinton has attention deficit syndrome; he freaks out when he’s not getting enough attention.

    2. We’re seeing political dynamics going on with Hill/Bill most could not have anticipated: when the former President is contentious and often unlikeable, and likeability is also a huge question mark for the candidate, what do you do? If Bill vanishes from the stage, being a former President he’s conspicuous by his absence. If he gets his nose into it, he mucks things up by projecting his unpresidential behavior onto the candidate. I have a suggestion as to how to remedy this problem, but I sure as hell won’t offer it here or anywhere else.

These are brand new dynamics in American politics. Interesting, but also sad and even truly weird. And watching the bickering couple bickering with opponents of the wife really does irrrepairably cheapen the process. Quickly going away are the dignity and class which once colored the process, and now with the Bill and Hill show it makes it more personal - in an unpleasant kind of way. It’s like watching a reality show in which the main attraction is the improper behavor of the participants. The ambulance-chaser vote is not, however, a very large constituancy.

These guys pick and choose what they feel is appropriate behavior for a former President. How many former Presidents do you know who go out of their way to attack and criticize the current President, even at a time of war? Oh, wait, another Dem Jimmy Carter! They are disgraceful and have no class. Unfortunately, they’ll never accept the truth because they have too many people around them who accept everything they do and tell them they are the best Presidents ever (or at least better than Boooosh)!
