I’m in! God bless them!
Odd, she makes a terrible personal choice decision and yet MM asks people to donate money? What happened to the asinine Suck. It. Up touted on this very site for people making equally stupid decisions when it comes to their mortgages?
Surely there should be Christian compassion for everyone and not just those who happen to be war widows…
#2 the image soulless bastard comes to mind when I read your insipid rant…
#3:
Yep.
In fact, that could be the understatement of the year.
Warning to parents: This is what happens when you fail to teach your children the difference between coerced government handouts and private charity.
Do not let this happen to your children.
please just ignore snausage he’s just looking for attention.
3 Cheers for Michelle …
Well said and to the point …
Thanks
#5:
Exactly, Michelle.
BTW, have you read Bruce Thornton’s “Decline and Fall” yet?
That comment #2 is just what one would expect to hear from a soulless, dying place like present-day Europe…which in turn is exactly what our leftists/socialists (read: Democrats and some Repaublicans) want us to become.
MM said:
*snort* My thoughts exactly, but as usual, MM says it much more eloquently!
#6:
Correct.
JUST
IGNORE
HIM
Sausage, did you even read the post?
What a terrible thing to befall a family who has already gone through so much. My heart goes out to the Shumney family. May God bless.
As for chipping in… Done.
Yes neo-connette, I think it’s a tragic story… I think everyone should donate. I know I will at the end of the month.
Just find it odd there is such compassion for this woman and her family and others get the Suck. It. Up treatment who may not be war widows, but have made equally crazy financial decisions in life.
What was terrible about her personal decision? The fact that she wanted to donate to charity or the fact that through losing her soulmate, husband and father of her children that she could see past that pain and reach out to others in need?
I don’t expect a response. I just don’t understand what would cause you to compare someone losing their husband and subsequently $57k and compare that to government bailouts. The way you view the world is clearly warped by prejudices.
IGNORE snausage.
We (the USA) had to bail out his homeland and he hates the idea that he is not speaking German.
The name at the top of the blog dictates who will choose those that are singled out for particular help.
I would take exception if Michelle were calling for a taxpayer funded bailout for people who enter into unwise, unvetted deals, charitable or otherwise.
There was a bit of prejudice here from the widow Shumney, too. She trusted, in a relatively large financial transaction, another person simply because he was a Christian (evangelical, brother in Christ, etc.) The lesson here is never enter a deal without hiring a legal professional to review (and keep) the documents.
We might dislike attorneys in general, but they’re pretty good for scrubbing a contract and protecting all parties involved. In this case, the important party was the object of Mrs. Shumney’s charity.
I’m giving a few dollars, but this feels more like a criminal action than a civil. I’m hoping she plans on using this money to pursue justice. After that, I think she should try to revive her charity. It was a noble thing to do for someone who has lost so much.
patdollard commenters sure had some awesome ideas for swift retribution! In the meantime, I’ll see if I can work in a donation after the bills are paid. Thanks Michelle!

There’s a lesson here, sausage. When conservatives state the futility in arguing with liberals (ie - the liberal practice of repeating an illogical point after ignoring a logical response) you can now look at your latest example and understand.
SHUT UP !!!! Troll, Moron.
I don’t have alot to give but I will pitch in. What I do have is paper, ink in my printer and a place I can put a jar for donation’s. I’ll make some brochure’s that tell the story and put the jar on the counter for her pennies, nickles, dimes and quarter’s can add up quickly.
This was one of my Heroic Brother’s and his family deserve’s to be taken care of and what ever I and any of us can do to help we need to.
Semper Fi unlike you sausage.
Hmmmm….being married to someone who chose to defend his country with his life is a crazy financial decision on par with buying a house you know you can’t afford.
Really brilliant thinking there, Sausage. (rolleyes)
.
Personal insults too? She’s the hostess of this site and you refer to her as a neo-conette? Aside from the fact you probably mean neocon-ette and don’t know how English works - you are from England, no? - would you go into someone else’s house and insult them? Why yes, you are here insulting the hostess, and you are here in our country insulting us.
There is one thing that you can still find in the U.S., compassion. We are a caring people who give a tremendous amount of money to charitable causes. The left wants to run it all, and insists that it doesn’t exist. It does… and will continue as long as good people live here.
Sauusage is a decent reminder that maybe we should consider vegetarianism.
Sometimes I have to wonder. Are trolls on these boards feigning obtuseness in order to get a reaction out of people? Or do they really believe the crap they spout?
BrianNY…
Wish that were so… Sadly liberals are unable to acknowledge reason… It gets in the way of them congratulating themselves for being oh so compassionate
Like MM said, there is a big difference between government “handouts” and private “charity”…
Funny how liberals are always showing their “compassion” with other people’s money.
Perhaps the lame brain liberals would be happier if the local ACLU just keyed the woman’s car.
ha, ha, gotcha, sausage… tag you’re it… Now, come up some other unsubstantiated, and intentionally untruthful one liner to send us running
To quote Fred Thompson in response to #2, how appropiate.
I don’t understand why the police have not been involved. They are asking for public support, yet they have not taken any action against the perps? Sorry, but if that’s the case then something’s not right here and I’m hesitating giving any support.
Okay, sausage - let me make sure I have this straight:
This woman, who was hoodwinked into donating to charity is - in your opinion - the exact same as people who for personal pleasure and gain bought houses with mortgage payments far beyond their financial means allowed?
No doubt there are predatory lenders out there, but not all lenders are predatory. People who buy homes they can’t afford (say a $500k home when they can only afford a $200k home) are greedy and do not deserve government bailouts.
As MM said - there’s a difference between charitable donations and government rewards for irresponsible behavior.
Question: What good is a Blind Mule?
Answer: He can always slam the door on a troll.
.
LOL
I have no doubt Sausage can see the difference between the mortgage issues and this situation, and is clearly only here for reaction and is hijacking the thread and detracting from what should be the focus here. Hard to do I know, but don’t feed the troll. Not that I’m one to lecture on that…
#5…BRAVO!
I understand your hesitation. I don’t think she know’s what to do. She does say that she is going to take legal action but has no money to do so, because of being bilked. I agree she need’s to contact the authorities and these idiot’s need to pay for their crime.
What MM is doing is what it used to be like when I was a kid. Those who needed got from those who wanted to help not going to the govorment.
Sauage I put you down in the evil coloumn…
Imagine traveler49 standing there with two miniature traveler49’s on his left and right shoulders.
The right Mini-me whispers in my ear: “be compassionate, send her the money”.
The left Mini-me whispers, “no, wait until she notifies the police. Once that is taken care of , then send her the money. That way the real problem (scammers bilking gullible people out of their money in the name of Christ) will be taken care of”.
What to do? Maybe I should send the money and have faith that the people around Mrs. Shumney will council her and convince her to go after these creeps with a vengeance.
Michelle,
How about a call for an attorney to take up her cause pro bono. It worked for the Marine who had his car keyed and I bet it would work here too.
Sausage,
If you can’t understand the difference between someone borrowing money they can’t pay back and someone who is a victim of a crime, you need some serious help. You suck it up and think this through.
Michelle,
Also, please let her know that it doesn’t cost her anything to have the State’s Attorney prosecute these two for felony fraud. All she has to do is call the police and file a theft report. Then the scumbags can be arrested and prosecuted. The judge can order restitution as part of their sentence or it can be a part of any deal arranged.
…and regarding the # 2 remark, which is oddly appropriate considering their fecal quality, I also missed the most obvious sign of the poster’s character: sausage.
Any questions?
Sausage yet again proves that a ninny with a chip on his shoulder can demonstrate crude, callous disregard for even the most basic human considerations.
Congratulations sausage aka wiener. At least on this count you’ve scored a perfect 100%.
I’m in.
This just tells me that you, Sausage, do not understand.
There is a MASSIVE DIFFERENCE between being charitable directly, as in this case of asking us to directly support a widow with a serious problem, and being forced to be charitable by an inefficent and corrupt government structure.
In this case, I know what the cause is, I know where the money is going, and I make the choice to support or not support this individual. This is true Christian/Muslim/Jewish charity. No where in any of those guiding priciples does it state to give your support through a faceless and corrupt system in the hopes that maybe someone who really needs the help might get it, while thousands of fraudulent claims and corrupt politicians line their pockets in the process.
What you encourage is the problem. Government is not, nor has it ever been, the answer. Even our founding fathers knew this:
Why is it, that a people who “claim” to be so afraid of the abuse of government to our rights and freedoms, are so willing to freely transfer their moral and civic individual duties to that same government, thereby giving that government the exact power they so fear?
Actually, as I read the article, unfortunately it seems she kept quiet about the entire episode (For whatever reason she may have had) until the statute of limitations had already passed. A little Texas (Though Hillbilly would be more fun) Justice is not a bad idea. It served our nation well back when she was still great and proud and it would not hurt to return her to her former glory as far as I am concerned.
This woman has suffered two grave injustices, neither of which she asked for. One was in accepting that her husband was willing to lay down his life so that others may enjoy their freedoms. The other was in the guise of “christian” brethren who will some day answer to the Man upstairs. In the meantime, should a little justice be delivered, it may yet serve its purpose. Even here in the Philippines I will do what I can to help this woman. One would think the criers of victimhood would appreciate a true victim in a cruel and unforgiving world.
On a personal note, me thinks that sausage is just upset because he seems to be afflicted with liberalism that has left him sausageless. And yes! That is a personal attack on you! Your (lack of) character and any misguided (ill)logic you believe that you possess.
You all do realize that the
trollfellow concerned citizen sausage is probably at home (in mom’s basement), laughing with glee whilst playing with his own feces, pleased-as-pie that we are continuing to speak about him. Just let it die…Please, focus on the post, not the idiot commenter. Priorities..
You never want to know what goes into the sausage mix but in this case you sure know what comes out.
Why is it a zero sum game for people like sausage.
We have to give to everyone via taxes, or we have to be callous and give to no one? I guess people don’t have the intelligence to disburse their own money as they see fit…the government needs to step in and moderate, or someone likes sausage needs to point the finger at where our money is truly deserved and should go. All hail the arbiter of charitable giving.
I’ve never heard anyone bitch about a private fundraiser for someone in need, let alone a widow. There’s that liberal empathy we hear about so much…guess you have to be in their camp to be cared for. Lockstep group think gets you compassion…think differently, your sacrifices and decisions are ridiculed.
There were all kinds of red flags, not the least of which were:
Introducing a stranger to “confirm” a return on investment, without checking the story for legitimacy, Jeff’s “confession” that his good buddy Ken had been pocketing the money, PayPal “shutting them down”, and the disappearing contract. But then she turns around and helps this guy buy another truckload of electronics to “recoup her losses”, after she had already been ripped off for over 40 grand????
She’s a kind-hearted person and her intentions were good, but there are limits to how much “trust” should be tolerated. The approach used by the two con artists are similar to the e-mail scams originating from Ethiopia:
“I have money that’s owed me, but I need some money to get it, and I’ll give you a cut…” All those warning signs and no alarm bells went off? Unfortunately, Jeff and Ken saw an easy mark and she’s poorer by 50 thou. I do hope they caught the slugs.
When a person begins, “I don’t understand …” then goes into something perfectly understandable, and then is answered beautifully, eloquently and graciously, and then the person restates the original statement using the same construction, “Yes, but I just don’t understand …”, what they’re doing there is telling you they’ve decided to resolutely not understand. It’s not gonna happen, because fitting that answer, hearing it and making the appropriate adjustment, would be entirely too wrenching an experience for existing constructs. All you’ll ever get is obdurate obstinacy. It’s a protection mechanism, and a rather solid one at that.
I’ve had to pay for my mistakes.
And I’ve had to pay for mistakes made by others.
And I’ve been greatly cheered when good people understood what I’ve endured, tossed some bucks my way and helped out a few times.
Why dont they start out by exposing Jeff and Ken and the church that this “evangelist” was operating from- make them infamous across the entire country.
Expose and shame them, make them lose their family and any current jobs, drive off their customers or church members- and then sue them into liquidating their cars and houses to pay her back.
Michelle, Thank you for shedding light on the plight of this widow. I just sent a gift to her through Paypal. It boils my blood when opportunists exploit the faith of believers in Christ to line their own pockets.
Another spot on post DougT…I agree 100% with your takes.
Cheers for Michelle on #5. I clicked and gave some too. I have had a knock on my door twice but they were wearing BDU’s so I knew he was alive. My head was spinning though so can’t begrudge what she did. Grief is a strange thing and we never know how we’re going to react unless we’re in that situation.
Looks like they were at MCB Kaneohe from that picture.
As for the trolls, it’s sad that their lives are so small.
