Thousands march on Washington…MSM yawns
Via Yahoo! News:
If they were illegal alien activists, they’d get front-page coverage, multimedia packages, and prime time on TV airwaves.
If they were anti-war activists, they’d get front-page coverage, multimedia packages, and prime time on TV airwaves.
They are pro-life activists who marched today to mark the 35th anniversary of Roe v. Wade.
You’ll be lucky to see photos like the one above buried somewhere in the back of your newspaper.

Surely the media doesn’t manipulate the news?!
Hey, where’s Gregor?
I’m not sure this march is enough to meet his standards
And if you were quick, you might have seen it on Yahoo news.
The media has/is driving the election, this is nothing more than a pimple to them and britney wasnt there.
I read about this in the morning. Didn’t hear it on NPR til 4:00, well after the fact.
Yep, the photo is gone.
Right on the money, Michelle. The only coverage of this on CNN today was that it was the R vs. W anniversary and that both sides had demonstrations. THE MSM MAKES ME SICK!
Oops, it’s back – sorry.
Pray for the unborn, May God Rest their Souls and forgive those who committed this insidious sin.
You forgot to mention the attention it would have gotten if it had been the race hustlers.
I’m trying to think but I don’t even think Fox had even a blurb about this and that is shameful. God Bless all of those who marched no matter the coverage which I’m sure they probably knew would’nt be much, they came anyway and that is one awesome pic.
I was wrong my wife informed me that the local Fox affiliate had a story on it, I don’t watch local news It will scare the he!! out of you.
Speaking of the two reverends, you would think that as reverends they would be against abortion.
To borrow someone’s phrase: we’ll be hearing from them in three, two,…….
Can you hear the crickets chirping yet?
It Takes a Village to Abort a Child.
All I see is “Image Not Available”. Is a Foxfire problem?
Nope, RedWinged. I can’t get it through Explorer either. Thank heaven for Michelle’s quick grab.
Right on the money. You would think that all blacks would be voting republican. Most all blacks that vote as well as black churches are very conservative in their beliefs. I’ll give you three guesses why they vote democrat.
It is interesting to note however that many church denominations don’t condemn abortion. The United Methodist Church (who Hillary is a member of) is incredibly liberal on social issues such as abortion, gay rights, and illegal immigration. Go check out umc.org and read some of their doctrines on social issues. They read like Democratic talking points. Its sickening!
I’m glad you put it in the news. It is quite remarkable that so many protesters gather to protest a Supreme Court decision. How many times has this happened in history? It’s pretty impressive and the people are right.
YAY America. . . just because the government doesn’t do the right thing doesn’t mean that the people don’t know what the right thing to do is.
I just clicked on the image and it had been removed by Yahoo News @ 8:22 pm EST. Wow, barely 20 minutes before the PC Police State enforces censorship.
Perhaps it is time to admit that the squeaky wheel does get the grease, and to open up a second front.
jus sayin.
Michelle’s link at the top of the page is still working for me
But it wasn’t there when I posted at 8:04. It seems to be disappearing and re-appearing. Maybe they’re still debating whether they want to incur the wrath of the cultivated anti-immigration Asian blogger.
Is everyone in MSM industry pro-abortion? Where is there so called diversity of thought? The MSM and their lib buds are so transparent its not even funny. I will not be surprized next that the Demos/libs will want post abortion rights.
I mean’t to say post birth abortion rights, like for example if its the wrong sex they would want up to two years to perform the post birth abortion. I again will not be surprized.
If it isn’t propaganda for the left agenda, MSM just isn’t interested.
Brooklyn Red #20
As a member of a Lutheran’s for Life chapter, I’m very interested in what you have in mind for a second front.
26, counsel has advised me to refrain.
“Image not available”
Having said that… it seems that large, pre licensed, non-violent gatherings of like-minded peoples, with the aim of petitioning their government as to a particular grievance may or may not be effective.
OK, the text link is working, but not the thumbnail.
Oh hey you guys, this was no big deal…didn’t Heath Ledger die of an overdose today? Now THERE’S something important. Hollywood actors don’t just pop off everyday you know…abortion on the other hand, a couple thousand a day, business as usual.

Got ‘Ya.
and thanks.
And you all are surprised by the lack of coverage because……
garyt: Unfortunately, people like Peter Singer already believe a born child is not human until the age of one, and that murdering said child should not be a punishable offense.
At the same time, they lobby for laws giving human rights to gorillas. Guess they’ll have to build a Planned Parenthood in the middle of the jungle, then – seeing as abortion is the ultimate human right.
I am not surprised by the lack of coverage. The media is trying so hard to prove that pro-lifers are a radical, small, violent bunch of abortion clinic bombers and backwater Neanderthals that seeing thousands upon thousands – old, young, black, white, rich and poor – march to defend life just fries them.
32, wise as serpents, gentle as lambs…
According to progressive fans of pro-abortion arguments by economist and Freakonomics author Steven Levitt, the good thing about abortion is that it eliminates unwanted children who would inevitably grow up and become violent criminals. Coincidentally, these unwanted children are disproportionately black.
These sentiments are shared by celebrated feminists like Margaret Sanger, who wanted “to give certain dysgenic groups in our population their choice of segregation or sterilization.”
Liberals may not hate black people, but they sure hate black FETUSES.
Everybody should bombard the news-selective, biased, unprofessional and vindictive MSM (CNN, NBC, CBS, ABC, PBS) local affiliates, TV, radio and print, demanding that they report ALL the news.
Don’t let up. Do it on a daily basis. We have the power in our numbers. Let’s use it.
CC, with all due respect, they don’t give a darn… the sponsors on the other hand, how shall I say? Punk Easy… yes?
Oh, and “Image not available.”
AP did do a report:
I am not sure if the Muslims are against abortion or not but since they are all about death they probably are pro-abortion. If they are pro life they are very quiet about it and I am sure the MSM would cover their pro-life demonstrations. I maybe wrong since Islam adhere’s to death alot.
After reading Gates of Vienna – Guns,Babes and Danes – I have become inspired by the crown princess of Denmark. She is learning military tactics.
Perhaps we should all do the same. ? !
garyt, the Qur’an says “it’s not a choice, it’s a child”. They don’t support abortion.
Wrapping said child up with c4 & nails & sending them to kill other children… well that is a different story.
“”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"crickets”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”"”
Oh How Lame Is The Lame Stream Media Game!
Truly, they suck and it’s all our jobs to show everyone how badly they don’t do their jobs.
Thanks for the heads up Brooklyn red and like how you ended your post with the nail bomb thing. Sometimes when pro abortion folks tell me its a choice and legal I tell them that slavery was a choice (for the slaveowner) and of course its legal at that time. They do not have a single comeback with that answer. I also ask them why they are so ashamed to see what the aborted victims look like because they always want no one in the media to see how much they wre part of life.
media is just a job.
If you only listen to the MSM then you KNOW that McCain is leading in the delegate count by a 2 to 1 margin. But if you’re WISE you know the truth: Romney is leading McCain by nearly 2 to 1.
I shocked some friends tonight with that delightful nugget!
There’s bias in the media???
If four or five anti-fur protestors or ACT-Up types held an event, they would get more coverage than the March for Life.
you will never get an answer from them about abortion. they will just say that it is a choice and a constitutional one at that which isn’t true
My college had a prayer service tonight that I went to.
Three of the guys at my seminary went to the Twin Cities to join the march they had there.
Yahell and google stink…their both so far left they’ll set up shop in China or Russia. Is there no conservatives to compete with these communist outfits?
The local news in Cincinnati covered it, but made it sound like it was celebrating Roe V Wade. Even said there was a smaller pro-life protest to re-enforce they way they said it.
- The Cat
Thank you Michelle for your attention to this event.
When the future Bioethics explosion occurs in 20-25 years, we as a nation will remember how Roe vs. Wade was the first philosophical stone to break, leading to the eventual collapse of the dam of Human Personhood, causing the deadly waves of a “Brave New World” that is neither “brave” nor “new”, but rather just paganism redefined for our technologically advanced postmodern, yet primative morally, era.
And the other story that the media ignored was that 25,000 people joined the Walk For Life in SAN FRANCISCO!
Here is the link so you can see the pictures that the media didn’t want you to see.
http://www.walkforlifewc.com/
“Roe vs Wade” is based on the “right to privacy” in the Constitution. Well, I’ve looked for that right, and Constitutional lawyers have looked for that right, and we haven’t found it yet. All of this comes from the 30s when the Court said that whatever they rule is “Constitutional Law”. That’s why they can legislate from the bench today…a far cry from what the Founding Fathers and the individual states wanted.
You’re lucky. Our campus minister is left of center, and each year on Jan. 22 I write a prayer in the prayer book for an end to abortion and “respect for life from conception to natural death”. Usually, prayers are posted in an on-line publication, but mine is either always omitted or changed to read “from birth to death“…
On the bright side, our president is conservative, so perhaps the tide will shift.
The reason this wasn’t covered in the media isn’t because of some crazy “mainstream bias.” It’s because it isn’t a front page story. The March For Life happens every year. Do you expect a front page story every year?
Illegal immigrant and the Jena protests are all current stories. So they get more press. This is old news and old news doesn’t sell.
Not saying it’s fair, but that’s how it works. If there was a gigantic pro-immigration rally every year the media would start ignoring that too.
Rusty:
I don’t buy that argument.
There have been dozens upon dozens of protests for immigration and racism over the years – and they always get coverage.
Besides, doesn’t the MSM always argue that “abortion foes” are all little, old, white haired men and women brandishing rosaries with beads of boulders? Or nut case men with bombs strapped to their chests?
How does that gel with the picture above, or this picture – clearly these people do not fit the template of who opposes abortion. These are young women, attractive women – women who’ve lost 48 million of their peers to abortion.
And whenever people show up in the tens of thousands to protest, it *is* a story.
EQ, the LA Times just published an article about pro-lifers skewing younger and younger. You can find it here (but you have to register – it’s free).
I, at one time, was one of those kids. I went to a non-denominational Christian middle school and my 6th grade teacher was an evangelical. Our class was taught to pray for fetuses and to get involved with the pro-life movement and all that. Then one day my mom gently pulled me aside and gave me this big pro-choice speech and converted me to the other side.
The irony of course being my mother is now pro-life.
So, I understand the youth movement pretty well. One nun at my Catholic high school spent all of her free time recruiting students to go to the March for Life. So I know it’s a big deal.
But it happens every year. The media will give it lip service and will try to find new angles, but the same protest every year doesn’t generate the same interest as other issue oriented gatherings.
I think some of you guys give the corporate media way too much credit for caring enough about particular issues to push a political agenda. It’s about the bottom line. TV networks and local stations feature “news” that they think will result in more eyeballs on the newscasts. Newspapers and news magazines cover stories that they believe will increase circulation numbers and ad sales. It’s almost always about the money folks. And BTW, the so-called “new media” will eventually become as corporate as the MSM most of you despise so much. It’s already happening.
Michelle, surely you aren’t implying that the MSM is selective about the issues to which they afford coverage?
/sarcasm off
By chance did anyone hear enough coverage on the march to find out about how many folks were able to make it to D.C. and join the event? From the photo, it looks to be a very good sized crowd, compared to all the other ones that the MSM does hype so hard.
unwanted children who would inevitably grow up and become violent criminals.
As a fairly devout Catholic, I can recommend quite a few Saints as counter examples, including the products of rape.
“All aborted children are Martyred Angel Babies in Heaven.” BVM @ Medjugorje ‘89 / I asked the question, I was there.
& before anyone condemn those who commit this ‘insidious sin’….bare in mind, there are none among us who can ‘cast the 1st stone’.
Many are those who murder w/ their mouths.
As far as abortion goes, I met a woman @ a clinic once whose husband TOLD her that if she didn’t abort their 4th child, he would leave them PERIOD. She could not stop crying through the whole procedure….but she had no way to care for their 3 children w/out him. Just one silent story behind why abortions happen…O…& BTW….I am PRO-LIFE!!!! but I will NEVER cast a stone.
As far as the MSM’s total lack of interest goes: Our Heavenly Father keeps the Stars & Planet in their Orbs! He named each one of us before we were born!!!… & the MSM is only so much self-anointed-cosmic debris.
Prayer from yesterdays thread:
Jesus, Mary & St.Joseph
I love you very much.
I beg you to spare the Life
of the unborn Child
I have spiritually adopted
who is in danger of an abortion.
Amen, Amen
(to be said every day for 1 year…each year adopts another child. These Children will be considered Family in Heaven. Has Imprimatur.)
GREAT PIC

P.S. Thank you Michelle Malkin!! for who you are & what you do. signed: long time fan.
I was at the March. See that photo? The entire March was the width of that street from end to end.
The Youth Mass we had earlier in the day filled the entirity of Washington D.C.’s Verizon Center. They started turning people AWAY at 8 a.m.
We got there around 7 and were placed in the “upper nosebleed” section as I call it. I can’t find it on the website, but I believe the stadium seats at least 25,000 people.
Therefore, there over 25,000 people alone at the Youth Mass, most of them age 18 or under.
As for the March, I only saw one side of the sidewalk for the majority, but I didn’t even see pro-abortion protesters. Of course, our group didn’t even stick around for long.
By the way Michelle, I didn’t see a March for Life post at HotAir.
Perhaps you could uh, nudge Allahpundit or Bryan a little bit in that direction. Please?
Unfortunately the only number I ever hear is ten’s of thousands.
This is my third year as a KoC marshal (the guys in the white jackets) for the DC march (I’m off-camera to the right in the pictue above). This year the crowd was much bigger than last year. Several other Knights, who’d been to far more of these than I, said it was by far the biggest crowd they’d ever seen. I left about 90 minutes after the head of the march reached the Supreme Court building and I could see the solid packed crowd turning up from Constitution Ave. onto 1st St.
There were four pro-abortion supporters waiting at the SC. Considering that last year there were nine if I were a NYTimes reporter I would confidently report that support for abortion has dropped by more than 50%!
A picture of a heart-shaped pot is in the nearly 300 Top Story photos, but nothing from the March for Life.
Nope! No bias here!
It made A3 of The Washington Post. Right next to the Padilla sentencing.
Of course, it’s pretty close to home so you’d expect it to be featured in a DC paper.
