Chelsea Clinton and America Ferrera: Dumbing down politics

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 23, 2008 11:28 PM

1amerchel002.jpg

Warning: Your IQ may drop 30 points watching this campaign video of Chelsea Clinton and TV actress America Ferrera campaigning for Hillary in Nevada last week and playing the gender card to the hilt (hat tip - Lonewacko). At least you have 30 points to lose–which is more than most of the people in this video seem to possess.

Like the supporter who backs Hillary because “she’s a lady.”

A lady.

And Ferrera, who giggles and gloats about Hillary with Chelsea during a car ride that she “was soooo happy and excited and I, I, I just felt so much pride for her and I thought ‘My God, like, this is a woman running for president.’”

A woman.

Like seriously.

Can American politics get any dumber?

These women give women a bad name.

Why poor me? One of the main storylines in Ugly Betty is immigration. Betty’s father came to the U.S. illegally and his immigration status was used as a cliffhanger in Season 1. The show gained a lot of media attention for that storyline as it obviously portrayed those against illegal immigration in a negative light. By courting America Ferrera and having her make campaign appearances, Hillary gets to play the immigration card without having to actually put it on the table.

Mookie – I know I’m a bit behind on this topic, but I just wanted to say that I had definitely noticed that theme in the show as well. I had only seen a few episodes of Ugly Betty, but I kind of liked it. It’s like a campy, over-the-top soap opera.

But then I saw an episode where Betty’s illegal father has been deported and is having trouble getting back to the U.S. So, he tells his daughter he is going to sneak in, again. I believe his words were something like, “If they are going to treat me like a criminal, they force me to act like one.”

That was too much for me.

And I believe you are right. Bringing America Ferrera on board is a way to pander to the open borders crowd without Hillary actually having to come out and say it.

Why is a movement designed to make women into men called feminism??

Because modern-day “feminists” have taken everything original feminists worked for, turned it on its ear and pretended to be continuing the good work of the *true* feminists.

Original feminists wanted to give women true opportunity and equality where equality was due. They, however, did not deny or hide what was feminine about them.

Modern “feminists” are no longer about “choice”, in any sense of the word. Any women who dare wander off the feminist farm are demonized, criticized and attacked.

Just look at how feminists treat women like Michelle Duggar who - of her own free will - has 17 children. Or how they treat any woman who leaves a job in order to raise her child(ren)…here’s a hint: they call these women “stupid” and say they’re “wasting their time.”

Or how they treat conservative women like our admirable Hostess, Michelle Malkin.

Or how they have no problem polluting our daughters’ bodies with strong chemical contraceptives, or ignoring the trauma inflicted on women who’ve had abortions (they are horribly cruel to women who’ve had abortions and regretted them).

And then the wonder why women like me want nothing to do with “feminism”…it digusts and disappoints me.

Here was a thirty-something woman who was living with her fiancee of 5 years, but she called him her husband - because, “Living together is the same thing anyway.” They were pregnant and still had no plans of getting married. And she was the customer service manager of a small furniture company with a CS dept. of 3.

When asked about future plans I proudly stated that when I am married (this was right before my engagement to my now-husband) and have kids, I will stop working and be a full-time wife and mother. She looked at me with shock and disdain and said, “Then why did you even bother to go to college?!”

Lowly goals? that women was obviously brain dead. When my wife had our 3rd and last child (daughter) I told her I wanted to stay home and raise one of my kid’s since she got to raise my boy’s while I worked 12 to 16 hour’s a day and did’nt have a lot of input. She agreed and I started a home based business and she went to work everyday. I must say I have a lot more respect for what Mom’s do, it’s not an easy job especially taking care of a baby, a grade schooler and middle shcooler, keeping the house up and making sure everbody eat’s breakfast, making lunch’s and dinner’s, paying the bill’s, doing laundry. Ok what did I miss. :) I did’nt work that hard roofing house’s and that’s a tough job. I salute your decision and good luck cause your gonna need it. :)

I have Netflix and enjoy watching older movies and some very good English mysteries. If you get a chance, check out Gilda, starring Rita Hayworth. She doe’s a strip tease dance in it that is the most sensual thing I’ve ever seen and takes off exactly one glove. Simply amazing. I believe Rita’s family immigrated from Spain (legally) and danced together in vaudeville. Actually, the less TV I watch, the more fulfilling my life is. I don’t even miss Fox news. She spent most of her career - which was largely built on the back of Bill’s - lying to cover for her husband’s infidelity, then stood by idly as the media dragged Bill’s women through the mud, with everything from their integrity to their physical appearance fair game. You want to talk about sexism in the media? And these women were telling the truth the whole time.

I know “feminist” is a curse word around these parts, but you don’t have to be one to be offended by this.

It’s not like Ferrerra and Chelsea were school chums and these things don’t happen by accident. Did Chelesa make the call or was she simply informed of her latest gig with Ferrerra? What phrases were used when discussing this with Ferrerra?I would have like to be a fly on the wall during the meeting between the ferrerra and Clinton people. This is yet another low step proving once again that, behind the scenes, the Clintons, by virtue of their bloodlust for power, are simply morally and ethically unfit to run this country.

    * Imagine the MSM questions if Ferrerra, had she been a star then, was seen touring around with the Bush sisters: How? Where? Why? Questions suspicious by their absence when involving the Clintons.

*Ultra left-leaning ABC has a pro-illegal immigrant show (it is, I saw the episode)with an hispanic star whose first name happens to be “America”. Am I the only one who finds that too cute to stomach?

Can American politics get any dumber?

Yeah, it can get dumber, just need to add a little violence. Winston Churchill supported giving women the vote. Even with his support he was still constantly harassed by suffragettes, and was thought to have coined the word “henpecked” in response. Early in life he recorded his apprehensions, writing that once women got the vote “all power passes to their hands.”
In 1909 a female suffragist attacked him at a train station with a dog whip, shouting, “Take that you brute!” as his wife jumped in to save him from being pushed under a train.
In 1910 while aboard a train he was attacked by a male suffragist using a dog whip, shouting, “take that, you dirty cur.”
Yeah, seems the “dirty dogs” never change, but how about the loony lefties of either sex?

Olbermann is far left and I’ve never know Michelle’s middle name. I’m not sure of the point here.

One thing to watch for, incidentally: watch Ugly Betty’s ratings start to drop. Every time a star in a narrative format (comedy and drama, not talk shows) makes partisan statements to the left, a hefty chunk of the population turns away, over and over and over again - it isn’t like Fox news and talk radio can compensate for the torrential rains that is the mainstream media, and people have a very low threshold for left wing endurance, now. Oh, and give the actor in question some kind of fawning dramatic award after they do it, too, if you want to make sure that half the population rejects them and whatever show they star in.

A wiley trick on the Clinton’s part to appeal to the youth. Sick, manipulative and unconscionable, but wiley. And like everyone else the Clintons use for short-term gain, Ferrarra will pay a price for it, too.

Nobody asks Hillary Clinton the following questions: “Do you think that you and or Bill Clinton should apologize to Gennifer Flowers for stating and implying that Gennifer Flowers lied for cash?”. Isn’t it obvious now that Gennifer Flowers was telling the truth and did not lie?
Why would you stay with a man who had lots of sexual dalliances, often right in front of your nose and had an affair with a teenage intern when he was a 50 year old president? Is it a sign of “woman power” that you not only stayed with him but actively defended him when it was obvious he was straying?

Thank you all for being here so I may finally vent my LOATHING of the term, “like.” About 13+ years ago when I was a younger 20-something, I had that habit. An adult in my life sat me down and told me how stupid it makes me sound. She challenged me to be cognoscente of my use of the word. Once I started paying attention, it was pretty mortifying. From that point on, I re-trained my language to never use it. Maybe these “girls” never listen to their interviews, but if I were them I’d be pretty embarrassed.

    Vent over, carry on…

She looked at me with shock and disdain and said, “Then why did you even bother to go to college?!”

    RaisedRight:

Whenever anyone questions why I went to college, and am pursuing my Masters’, when my ultimate goal is to be a very part-time employee or at-home employee and devote more time to my growing family, I tell them an education is NEVER a waste (as if you didn’t know that, right? ;) ).

I tell them that if - heaven forbid - my husband died, then I’d still have a skill set and a degree with which to get a job and support myself. It really is a cyclical argument - they criticize women who don’t go to college as being “ill prepared” to care for their families if their husbands die or leave them, but then they turn around and accuse women who go to school first, then become stay-at-home mothers of “wasting” their education!

I get so tired of the attitude that she is the ‘first’ woman to have run for president. Not true.

and her vice presidential candidate was not white but a former slave.

Obama is not the first Black man to run for president either. The revision of history by the media is pathetic.

There are a long list of women who have run for President. Hillary is not the first. There is one difference between these ladies and Hillary. They did not ride the wave of their husband’s coattails. They were self-made women.

You are exactly right. I am pursuing my Master’s in English with a Writing Concentration. I have a BA in English. The only slight error is the year - ‘01 refers to when I graduated high school. I received my BA in Dec. 2004.
