What Barack Obama should have said when Hillary attacked him:
Barack Obama missed a golden oppor tunity during the Democratic debate the other night.
Hillary Clinton archly accused him of having represented a Chicago slumlord while practicing law – and Obama immediately went on the defensive.
The Illiniois senator blathered on about a church group that had partnered with the landlord and the number of billable hours he’d submitted, blah, blah, blah.
Pretty weak tea.
What he should have said was something like: YOU want to talk about questionable business connections? I’ve got two words for you – Ron Burkle…

Excellent column today on John McCain. I could not agree more with you.
I just don’t see how Hillary Clinton’s crimes are going to make any difference in this election cycle – The media and “working women” of the nation seem to love her and, yes, love is blind.
It’s all very discouraging.

The Clinton’s have so many skeletons in their closet you would think it would have been an easy kill for Obama during the debate. Maybe he should have come to class a little better prepared. My personal favorite is the Rose Law Firm records that magically appeared in the most secure facility in the nation (White House). Talk about the willing suspension of disbelieve to swallow that whopper, but there are so many more to choose from……
How about the 900 personal FBI files they were looking at… Oh wait, they were doing background checks for WH.

If you wrote all the Clinton’s shady activities on post-it notes and put them up on the walls they would cover an entire room … then all you would have to do is throw a dart in any direction and you couldn’t help but hit a “bull’s eye” … or was that a “cow pie”? … when it comes to the HillBillary Mafia it’s hard to tell the difference …

I have been saying the same thing all along calling it “my conspiracy theory” & everyone thinks I am crazy. I have felt for a long time that there is ’something” about BO that I can’t quite put my finger on. But he scares me as much as HC.
All Obama had to say was Arkancide, Google it.
Obama was just scared to play the “keepin’ it real” card.
I was royally POed at Obama for not responding to Hillary Clinton’s nasty smear. She got away with essentially calling Barack Obama a slumlord. He could have answered in any number of ways: “I have been called many things in my lifetime but this is the first time I have been called a slumlord. Have you no decency left, Mrs. Clinton?”
Or he could have said: “Hillary, if you want to talk about our legal careers, I don’t think you want to go there. I will only say in response three words: Rose Law Firm.”
Or he could have said: “Hillary, what were your billing records from the Rose Law Firm doing in the Clintons’ private quarters at the White House?”
Or he could have said: “You want to talk about ONE of my campaign contributors? Well I will mention a few of yours: Norman Tsu, now under indictment, Charlie Tree,”
Or he could have said, as I would have: “Mrs. Clinton, your administration issued over one hundred pardons on the last day of your administration. You pardoned Marc Rich, who was under a federal indictment and fled after posting bail”. You pardoned several Clinton cronies and relatives. You pardoned a man who had pleaded guilty to health care fraud and had been convicted of advertisine useless and phony “medicines” as a cure for all sorts of illness. Is this a sign of your compassion?”
Sadly, Barack turned into a wallflower. The Clintons sensed that in Barack Obama, they have a man they can push around and bully. They sensed the same thing from Paul Tsongas back in 1992.
I have a sneaky suspicion that Obama doesn’t mention these things because he has a couple skeletons in his own closet to worry about. Since he is largely campaigning on his aura of fresh, new innocence, he has a lot more to lose in an exchange of “reveal-the-opponents’-misdeeds.” The Clinton campaign has less to lose by treading on or just barely over the line of truce, and are more inclined to fight mean anyhow.
How many scandals were there during the Clinton years? I remember Whitewater and Travelgate. People appear to have forgotten “Clinton Fatigue”
I’m actually thinking more about the Republican response to all of this than about how Obama responds. Where are the Republican candiates?
Obama and the Clintons are all a bunch of crooks & all of them have shady dealings. Won’t at least one of the Republican candiates say this?
My hope is that Republican operatives are adding this info to their opposition research files and will start broadcasting it after the Democrats choose their nominee.
Grey Fox and Laree; you are right, but all Obama has to do is run a positive ad on himself and subtly bring up the scandal laden ’90’s. The Clintons act like Bill was not disbarred for 5 years. Its a big deal for a lawyer to lose his law license, much less a President. Bring up his cabinet members, Sandy Berger and others; opening up the door to the Chinese to get our arms technology. People need to be reminded; because they certainly seem to have forgotten.
NBC went sleazy enough to bring up a chain email as a question!? Why didn’t they bring up the chain email about the 40+ Clinton associates that have been murdered since their Arkansas days?
I don’t know why he didn’t just bring up the documents regarding the Hillarycare task force that aren’t being released. Or at least her thesis (or whatever it was) from college that is being supressed.
That would be interesting and very revealing reading IMO.
And I’m sure there is a verrry good reason she doesn’t want it released.
I believe Obama is settling for the VP slot. He can’t blast the Clintons AND be VP on her (their) ticket.
I am in one hundred percent agreement with you, mngirl! Still, I can’t help but wish he had volleyed back the names Charlie[?]Tree and Norman Hsu when she slapped him with that slumlord comment.
I have always thought that Bill’s dealings with Dubai and Saudi Arabia would be enough to sink Hillary once they were fully aired.

BTW, yesterday morning after dropping my wife off for jury duty I went for breakfast at a local restaurant in Columbia known as “Lizard’s Thicket”. Weird name but good food.
Anyway, as I pulled in, about 4 black GMC Suburbans pulled out. After I sat down my waitress told me that I just missed Bubba Clinton. He ordered a veggie omelette and then complained because it had green peppers in it.
Glad I missed him or that could have been an ugly encounter. I will be so glad when Sunday comes. Florida can have all these clowns.

Running on your past, as she has heretofore, carries with it the risk of having ALL of your past exposed. It is NOT lame or embarrassing to point out that past actions cast doubt on her character. She did, after all, claim to be experienced. It’s just her experiences that are questionable!
