Uncle Teddy endorses Obama: “To make America good again”
Ugh. On the one hand, you’ve got to love reading the news of Billy Jeff pleading and whining with Uncle Teddy not to endorse Hill’s nemesis.
On the other hand, watching the spectacle of the Kennedy clan anointing their Chosen One as the man “to make America good again” (and what would Teddy Kennedy know about that?)–and watching Caroline Kennedy praise her uncle as a champion of the little people, a champion of civil rights, and a champion of “men and women in uniform” (what?!)–is like Ipecac for the eyes and ears.
Kennedy just referred to the “better angels of our nature.” Again: What would he know about that?
My eyes. My ears.
1:13pm Eastern. He’s still talking. Lots of anti-Clinton jabs: “Let us reject the counsels of doubt and calculation.” Knocks “petty” and “stale” politics.
Sen. Windbag stiiiill going: “I love this country…I know what America can achieve. I’ve seen it. I’ve lived it…with Barack Obama, we can do it again…I know he’s ready to be president from Day One…I believe a waaaaaave of change is setting across America-er…It is time now for Barack Obama.”
Oh, gawd. The Kennedys all look so smug and self-satisfied and patronizing. Ick, ick.
On MSNBC, Chris Matthews says it’s like the 1960s all over again.
Obama thanks “all the Kennedys…for the service you’ve rendered to this country…I know the cherished place the Kennedys hold in the hearts of the American people….the Kennedy family has always stood for what’s best about the Democratic Party and what’s best about America…”
Obama praises Teddy K for “lifting the country up” rather than “tearing political opponents down.”
Horse-hockey.
Flashback: Teddy K and The Owl Club.
Flashback: Teddy K’s unhinged diatribe against Sam Alito
Flashback: Kennedy’s shamnesty “Gestapo” rant
At least Kennedy succeeded in avoiding another Osama-Obama bungle…
1:33pm Eastern. Flipping through the cable stations, there’s a lot of breathless chatter about this “monumental,” “breathtaking,” “historic” moment.
I agree with “breath-taking.”
Well, breath-wasting, anyway.
Meanwhile, Hillary’s got the all important Janet Reno endorsement.

After Caroline’s speech, did Teddy say “I’ll drink to that”?
My sanity!!!!
300 million people in this country and this is the group of people we get to choose from and have to hear from.
So FRIGGEN sad.
After Caroline’s speech, did Teddy say “I’ll drink to that”?
No. He said, “I’ll *hiccup* drink *hiccup* to *hiccup* that.”
I’m from the Massachusetts area, and while I understand this would help Obama in a loony State like Mass., does it really help him on a national level?
Couldn’t it hurt him?
Wasn’t that an Abe Lincoln quote?
Mary Jo was unavailable for comment.
I’m still trying to determine whether that’s a plus or a minus for Obama’s campaign.
Maybe because he thought he was endorsing O’Doul’s?
Yes.
Zorro, I thought that was a Shawn Colvin line. I get all my history from the FM dial, however.
Word of advice to you Mr. Obama. Don’t EVER let him drive your campaign bus!
watching this is turning my stomach.
i had to turn it off, couldn’t listen to him. it was more than i could handle.
guess what? if McCain gets the nomination for the Repubs, Teddy wins there, too. McCain can’t make a vote with out talking to Ted. Don’t think that will change if McCain is in the Whitehouse. So, basically, this presidency is a win/win for Ted Kennedy. His buddy on the Republican side and any ole’ dem on doesn’t matter to him. HE FINALLY GETS THE WHITEHOUSE..
Vote as if your life depended on it, cause this time it does! Vote Mitt.
I have to laugh. A Fox reporter asked old Teddy what he thought of Barach last year. He laughed and called him Osama Obama. He didn’t have a clue who he was. And they both are in the Senate. Probably both never showed up the same day.
I’m sure it surprises no one that Teddy Kenney would be a plagiarist too, right?
Seeing that sign under that face – who can argue.
No, no. He was just making the allusion.
Yep Teddy we believe in change too. Change like its about time you got the hell out of the senate. Bah bye Teddy.
I just noticed the irony of Kennedy behind the sign “Change you can Believe In”.
Wasn’t Ted there to hear Lincoln say that line…
The ULTIMATE Washington insider endorses the candidate for “change”…
Anyone else see the irony here?
Well, let’s see here,
Went to Harvard – check
Navy combat veteran – no
Known womanizer – no
Son of a bootlegger – not sure
Irish Catholic – nope.
Yeah, it’s just like looking in a mirror.
Change:
From Tanqueray to Beefeater?
we should all be happy if he beats hillary..I say go obama! just without me….lol
Go Mitt!!!!
Ordinarily I’d say that cornering the Massachusetts Senator endorsements isn’t a badge, but a stain. But it’s so delightful to watch the donkeys gouge, kick, scratch and spit on each other, it almost makes this interminable primary campaign bearable.
Makes me want to break out in song –only instead of “Let me entertain you,” it’d be “Let you entertain me.”
Watch for it all to change back to “normal,” though, as soon as the internal fight’s over. Then they’ll all close ranks again because they hate Republicans even more than they hate each other.
The question will be whether Republicans will be able to unite behind McCain, should he win the nomination (it won’t make any difference to get behind Romney in that event, because he’ll lose to either Hillary or Obama no matter what – see John Hawkins analysis today on http://www.rightwingnews.com).
“Through Barack, I believe we will move beyond the politics of fear and personal destruction and unite our country with the politics of common purpose” Kennedy says.
How would it be humanly possible for the Democrat party to completely change their way of life?
Color me skeptical. Highly skeptical.
From the lips of socialistically liberal Teddy the famous words from JFK would read:
Ask not what you can do for your country club,
Ask what your country club can do for you.
Pathetic, laughable, disgusting and nauseating.
Did I leave anything out?
Yes, but who wants to get banned over Teddy?
Shoot, anyone can get an endorsement from Old Ted. Just send him a case of Vat69. He becomes your friend for life.
Good one!
You forgot to mention moving away from fear. This makes me very afraid. There are probably still millions who actually believe in Camelot. Millions more who would like to.
Come on guys, after all, it is nice to see so many of the Kennedys out of rehab all at the same time.
In caes the Dems don’t realize it-Camelot never existed.
soap just made “The quote of the day”.Good one ,soap.

I kinda liked Michelle at #18 myself!
There’s a cruel irony in Fatty Ted’s endorsement of BO for change. Ted embodies the ossified rotten core of DC politics. So is his endorsement really for change or more born of BO’s continuation of the rampant rotting liberalism they’re all accustomed to?

Right!
As Patsy said in Monty Python & the Holy Grail: “It’s just a model.”
if the dems get elected it may just turn into lots a camels not camelot.
Sooooo much Python, so little time!
Oh no this is the kiss of death for ol Osama Obama!!!! Now just don’t accept a ride from ol Teddy especially in an Oldsmobile.
I cannot believe this besotted old you know what can get reelected but then, this is Mass. and they punch D with impunity – after they elect sKerry too.
Last week, Mary Jo Kopechne’s mother died quietly in Pennsylvania. No member of the Kennedy clan attended her funeral. Mrs. Kopechne, like her husband and her daughter Mary Jo, was just one more person whose life was shattered by Kennedy negligence and indifference. The Kennedys shatter lives and then move on. Regardless of what misconduct the Kennedy clan engages in, there will be always be those in the mainstream media like the Boston Globe to absolve the Kennedys of any responsibility. It was only a year ago when the Boston Globe, the Kennedy family house organ, wrote that had Mary Jo Kopechne survived, she would have benefitted from health legislation that Ted Kennedy wrote. For Chris Matthews, the year 1960 never leaves. Matthews’ infatuation with the Kennedy family seems almost libidinous.
Good one AJ
Ted Kennedy is a murderer and a completely repulsive, sickening, disgusting, perverse and immoral person.
That he is allowed to live and to inhabit the halls of Congress is a reproach and a disgrace to the people of the USA.
“Matthews’ infatuation with the Kennedy family seems almost libidinous.”
It is almost unnatural. I think of remoras (those little fish that suck onto the undersides of sharks to eat their leftovers) when I see him. Effeminate remoras to be sure.
In 2004, the Kennedys endorsed John Kerry, saying he was exactly like JFK.
In 1984, the Kennedys endorsed Walter Mondale, saying Mondale was exactly like JFK.
Clearly, they have about as much success picking a winner as the Democratic Party itself.
The one person who did manage to win an election …Arnold….they refused to endorse!
–Well, except for Maria Shriver, I guess.
Hooray! Hooray! That must mean “the Cape Cod Orca” and his pod are leaving. And on top of that La Reno is back!
Two out of three of this group have substance abuse problems. In the real world they would have to submit to drug testing to keep their jobs.Meanwhile Congress is hard at work naming post offices.
Teddy said Osama Obama “insipres” him.
Will he “inspire” the bloated old reprobate to finally quit drinking?
Silly me.
First it was a Vast Right Wing Conspiracy, now it’s a Vast Left Wing Conspiracy. How long is it going to take the Clintons to figure out that nobody really wants them around anymore?
They’re legends in their own minds, Papa. LOL
I wonder if the Clintons would agree to go away if we offered to name an airport or aspirin factory after them? That would be one earmark worth its cost.
papa, yeah they are as irritating as the head on commercial…
My wife does’nt follow any of this at all, but the other night she was watching the local new’s and they played a good portion of Obama’s speech, she came into our room and said did you hear Obama’s speech, I said yes and this was her critique “Although I don’t agree with them (Dimi’s) that man is an excellent orator, he kind of sound’s like JFK” I said yes now that I think of it he does speak very well but don’t be lulled in by his speaking skill’s he’s still a Dumbocrat with Dumbocrat Ideology, she said “OMG I was just saying he is well spoken, I know what he is” So there ya go that’s from someone that pay’s no attention to any of this as she say’s “Political Crap”.
She is funny, she said she was writting in Ronald Reagan.
Umm…what exactly is so bad about America?

not to the people of USA. ted kennedy had no chance of becoming potus after the negligent homicide of Mary Jo. it’s the people of massachusetts that bear the shame for constantly voting for him.
Don’t forget that the Kennedys got their fortune from bootlegging…just never got caught. JFK, during WW2, married a known nazi spy while stationed in D.C.. Old Joe got the FBI to break up the marriage, Church got the annulment, and had the Navy ship him off to the Pacific…basically, to keep him out of trouble.
MSM hush-hushed all that during the Presidental race. Now that is what I’ve read. But, out of 3 (Joe, Jr. died in WW2), JFK was the best. Today, a conservative. Ted is the worse. He lived; Robert, Joe Jr., John died. Travesty of justice. Old Joe thought Hitler was pretty good, too. What a mess of a family.
I completely agree, fuseman. Shame shame shame.

That is what I read years ago, too.
Also, that the old man, Joe Sr, had a not unfavorable (how’s THAT for diplospeak?!) opinion of Hitler WHILE HE WAS THE U.S.AMBASSADOR TO GREAT BRITAIN!!!:
“As ambassador, he supported the appeasement policies of Neville Chamberlain (shown on left in photo here with Kennedy) with Hitler and rejected the warnings of Winston Churchill that compromise with Germany was impossible. As Roosevelt shifted from neutrality to a more anti-German position, Kennedy pulled away from him and in 1940 resigned as ambassador. The tenseness between the two increased as Joseph Kennedy Jr. vocally opposed the re-nomination of Roosevelt in 1940.”
(hope this is the link: http://www.capecodtoday.com/blogs/index.php/Opinionator/2007/02/11/ambassador_joseph_p_kennedy_sr)
Kennedy was a “confirmed defeatist”, and this galled Churchill. See: http://books.google.com/books?id=QPGC7PCwgRgC&pg=PA138&lpg=PA138&dq=%22joseph+kennedy%22+ambassador+england+churchill&source=web&ots=14wq3Q7Lwc&sig=tvMLYdupDC4I5E3eHRkwoLZ6wjA#PPA138,M1
(Just showing the links to let you folks know I’m not making this stuff up out of thin air.)
Ted Kennedy Sings Osama Obama
gawd.. they need to get a room.
I’m endorsing LTC Allen B. West, U.S. Army (Ret.)for Florida’s 22nd Congressional District!
He was the officer in charge on Aug. 20 2007, when soldiers under his command in Taji, Iraq, interrogated an Iraqi they believed was hiding information about imminent attacks against his troops. Not getting the information he wanted, West took over the interrogation and discharged his 9 mm pistol just above the policeman’s head. The Iraqi then spilled the beans about a planned ambush.
West said in a recent interview that he is unapologetic about his actions — he has often said he would walk through “hell with a gasoline can” to protect his troops. Nor is he bitter with the military for derailing his career. He said he walked away from the military “with a sense of pride and honor.”
“I sacrificed my career for my soldiers and that’s the bottom line,” he said.
This man is a Hero! He didn’t think twice about taking one for the team. Hooah!

I asked a left leaning looney liberal Bostonian whose acquaintance I had made why do the good people of Mass. keep reelecting scumbag Teddy Kennedy each time he comes up for re-election. She looked me in the eye and with a straight face said that the Kennedy family has endured so much personal tragedy that Teddy deserves to be reelected. My jaw dropped and I walked away in total disbelief…
Oh, but it gets even better. NOW is peeved with Senator Splash for endorsing Obama. “Women have forgiven Kennedy, stuck up for him, stood by him,” but “We are repaid with his abandonment. He’s picked the new guy over us. He’s joined the list of progressive white men who can’t or won’t handle the prospect of a woman president.” To sum up, killing a young woman does not disqualify Sen. Kennedy for NOW’s devotion, but endorsing a man instead of Hillary does.
One reason I never liked the Kennedys is because back in the early 60’s they came out of their compound (who lives in a compound?) and came down south declaring how awful WE were treating black folks. I wont deny that, but I’d be willing to bet the only people of color the Kennedys ever saw in Massachusetts were the ones who were servants in the compound. Civil rights leader James Farmer described in his book how difficult it was to get JFK to sign on to the civil rights movement. And when they came to visit him in the WO they had to drive by night from DC through Maryland to avoid harm.
So my contempt for the American “royalty” still stands.
My aunt who is a die-hard Kennedy supporter said when John Jr got killed that he was the best of the Kennedys. I told her that’s because his mama kept him away from the rest of them.
Do the dems want a GOOD leader, or do they just want to make history?
