Meet the new Elvira Arellano

By Michelle Malkin  •  January 29, 2008 08:06 AM

Another defiant deportation evader has stepped in to “pick up the torch” that illegal alien activist Elvira Arellano left behind. Sanctuary Nation or Sovereign Nation? Which would the presidential candidates choose? Will the feds let this drag out like they did with Arellano–making a national mockery of our deportation laws?:

Mexican woman says she is “picking up the torch” from another illegal resident who became a symbol for immigration reform when she took shelter in a Chicago church for a year before being deported.

Flor Crisostomo, 28, who paid a smuggler to drive her across the U.S. border in 2000, spurned a deportation order Monday and moved into Adalberto United Methodist Church.

She worked for IFCO, which was the subject of massive workplace rades in 2006. The Board of Immigration Appeals last year denied Crisostomo’s appeal and told her to leave the United States by Monday.

This is exactly right:

“It will give American citizens a great opportunity to see if Homeland Security Secretary Michael Chertoff is good at his word on strict immigration enforcement,” said Rosanna Pulido, a spokeswoman for the Federation for American Immigration Reform, which advocates tougher immigration enforcement.

The move to re-create the same sanctuary situation as Arellano will backfire, Pulido said.

“This tactic is ineffective,” she said. “This is creating more outrage, more bad feelings toward our government and toward people who are aiding and abetting illegals.”

If this minister really thinks that God told him to harbor a fugitive and abet breaking federal law he has a screw loose. The use of churches in this manner to avoid lawful enforcement of our laws, and the less than honest “God told us to do this” rhetoric, is exactly the type of behavior that led to my no longer being part of any organized religion.

Speaking tongue in check we happen to have a C-130 unit at the Gowen Field Air National Guard Base here in Idaho that could accomplish that easily. To show what a great humanitarian I am I would even give her a working parachute.

But seriously I don’t think the lying crapweasels in DC and their appointed cronies have yet to understand how angry the general populace is becoming over these blatant violations of the rule of law and this country’s sovereignty.

As far as the church goes shame on them for violation of the scripture “give those things unto Cesar which are Cesar’s and those things unto God which are God’s.” I would love to see them lose their tax exemption status over their blatant violation of our (Cesar’s) laws.

    Give.Me.A.Break …

Does anyone really think these illegals are going to leave of their own accord just because a court tells them to? …

They break the law by coming into the USA illegally to begin with … there is no way they are going to suddenly obey the law and leave voluntarily … She should have immediately been taken into custody and been on the next bus load of illegals headed south and out of the country …

The Federal government should tell the folks in Chicago that they have 72 hours to turn her over to the authorities for deportation … failure to do so should result in an immediate halt to all federal funds for violating the law by being a sanctuary city …

Google Maps and Yahoo Maps both report the distance from his office to the church is about 4.7 miles. It will take a little more than 10 minutes to get there.

Google even has a street level panoramic photograph to scope out the buildings.

According to the United Methodist Church directory, the average worship attendance is 75. So maybe the church is one of the store fronts showing in Google with Ms. Crisostomo’s apartment on the second or third floor.

Is this woman at all concerned with the government of Mexico? Does she see how its a failure on job creation. Does this woman also think that the US could copy Mexico’s immigration policies and therefore deport all illegals? How do the churches in Mexico create prosperity there? Just wondered if there was any thought to this and why is the fear to move back to Mexico? I was raised a Methodist and I never did hear the gospel of Christ preached ( sin repentance etc). The church should get back to basics before trying to be involved in politics. Christ never told the Roman authorities on how to improve the lot of the citizens but to repent of their sins while there is still time.
