Say goodbye to Rudy…say hello to Rudy’s endorsement of McCain?
He thinks he can pull off a miracle and he says he intends to go to California, but let’s stay reality-based. If you’d like to leave a farewell message for Rudy Giuliani, leave it here.
All the CNN talking heads are anticipating a Rudy endorsement of McCain.
Update: And the rumors begin to fly.

Bye Julie Annie. New York is not the center of the Universe
Thanks Rudy, our country still needs you.
Adios, Senor “Sanctuary” Rudy.
I was planning to vote for Rudi. But if he doesn’t win in Florida — and that is likely — and if the race in California between the top two candidates is close, then I’ll switch to Romney.
Oops, I mean Rudy.
PIMF
It’s the center of my Universe.
You’re always welcome here, Mr. Mayor.
Oh, and Rudy will now get my vote.
DLTDHYOTWO (it had to be said)
As for endorsements, since none of them have made sense since The Other Thompson endorsed Giuliani, I’d expect him to endorse Paul </sarcasm>.
Seriously, I’d take whatever odds are being offered on Giuliani endorsing Romney.
Senator McCain, Governor Romney, Governor Huckabee, Mayor Giuliani which one doesn’t belong? Rudy’s biggest problem is being a Mayor is a qualification to be a Governor or Senator. It is not a qualification to be President.
I’m from New York. I grew up there (on Long Island).
My father was involved in local politics.
I was privy at a very early age to the complex networking of the good old boys in the political process.
Not that it’s any different today, and I doubt it will ever be any different.
Do you hear that Barrack Hussein Obama, you dumb ass dreamer and potential disaster to the capital way of life that sustains our nation?
Oh, but I digress.
Rudy is a good man. His heart is in the right place, he is a victim of his close nit circle of New York “friends” who think they can rise above local politics and take on the nation.
Ha,ha, guess what. New York is not the center of the universe.
So long Rudy. I truly do admire you. And you were my FIRST pick many months ago.
But Rudy you are not a good communicator, your just like John McCain, your a legend in your own mind.
Go back to the private sector and prosper.
I am solidly behind Mitt Romney.
That’s what happens when you place all your eggs in one basket…if they get stepped on…no more eggs.
That being said, I wouldn’t mind seeing Rudy in a cabinet position.
Being a mayor of a city with a higher population than many states, and doing quite well in that position, probably qualifies as much as doing a mediocre job in a small state (like Arkansas, perhaps?)
I like Rudy. I think he’s swell. I’ve never supported him for President, and I would be dismayed were he our nominee. But the party should listen to him, and it has been an honor opposing him.
America’s Mayor could have been America’s President. Not going to happen, though. But you did have some good ideas for NYC. Does anyone remember you were the one who got rid of the squeegee guys? I mean, in addition to all that other stuff.
I like Rudy and I especially liked to watch him when the Angels were knocking the Yankees out of the playoffs.
I am not conceding a d@mn thing unless he does. I expect him to get on the plane, and participate in the debate in California tomorrow. Maybe the Governator can endorse him.
1) He cleaned up a city somehwere between Detroit and Fallujah in terms of quality of life.
2) He was fabulous on 9/11
3) The Jayson Blair Times hates his guts
Yes, it looks bleak right now, but other candidates were dead and buried.
I throw in the towel when Rudy does, and not one second sooner. So anybody who had planned to vote for Rudy…
Stop wallowing and vote for him!
Respectfully,
eric aka the Tygrrrr Express
Well he certainly turned NYC around in a big way, but if he endorses McCain, well.. not much I can say.. that would certainly damage my positive opinion of him, but who cares.
Goodbye and good riddance to the man who is most responsible for hillary being elected to the senate.
Aanursa,
Why give in to the hype and switch?
If more people voted their convictions, they would get the candidate they want.
Respectfully,
eric aka the Tygrrrr Express
So Long, Rudy.
And dont you DARE go endorsing McCain on your way out. Oh, heck, what difference does it make, you have no base left anyway.
I like Rudy just fine but NOT as a Republican Presidential Candidate.
Oh oh.
REPORT: Giuliani expected to endorse McCain, as early as Wednesday…
It’s too bad, and still surprising to me. He was the one guy in the race who actually accomplished great things using conservative principles, against the most entrenched liberal establishment in the country. He directly improved the lives of millions of people. And he told Prince whats-his-name to stick his $10 million up his you-know-what.
Great words, Eric, but as what may be this board’s most verbose and determined Rudy supporter, I have to say it looks bleak.
My real concern is what it has been all along: being practical in the face of reality. Despite Rudy’s being weak on opposing abortion (he did oppose it in NY, but never articulated a truly conservative position), there was no question that turning around the nations 3rd largest economy, cleaning up crime and filth and presiding over United Nations difficulties as well as 9/11 made him by far the most successfully experienced candidate for the job. There can simply be me question, and those who cite being a mayor as being small compared to a senator or governor are either ignorant, delusional or dishonest. The density of the population makes crime greatly magnified next to most other states, and Rudy reduced it like a genius.
Quite frankly, considering how well he managed to pull off those miracles, I’d imagine being president would be relatively easy for him. The same cannot be said of the other candidates, least of all, tragically for this nation, McCain.
I spoke to someone this evening who said they were voting for McCain because he “seemed the most presidential”. Unfortunately, appearance of wisdom is winning over the manifest fact of it - or lack thereof. Our shallow culture should be obvious though, when the best the democrats can come up with are two glamorous junior citizens, one who was disgraced along with he horrible husband and the other a guy who by his own admission was probably selling drugs on the street.
Won’;t McCain be 81 at the end of second term if he wins? Some people think that’s an air detail. I say it’s a critical fact to be considered!
All that being said, it’s tough to imagine how Rudy’s support will disperse itself. Some will go to Romney, like mine has, because we needs someone who can actually do the job, the rest will go to McCain because of the (unfair) perceptions that Rudy is a hard-core closet liberal, like McCain.
I can only ask everyone who was for Rudy to get behind Romney. Once again, he isn’t perfect, but he’s better than an old-man loser who’s really a nasty, foul-tempered old liberal democrat hoping to hide his true colors until November.
Can our candidates be any worse? Send in the clowns. Frustrating.
When the MSM is pulling for McCain, you know we’re in deep doo doo.
If Giuliani endorses McCain and Huckabee does the same — it really is over for the Huck as well — that might well be the end of the game: i.e. very, very bad news for Romney. Romney may win tonight, if obviously in a close one, but the odds would tilt strongly to McCain from then on. Not good. Of course, the assumption is that the bulk of their supporters would follow their candidates recommendation, but in this instance it appears to be a good one.
Well, get the post hole diggers out of the shed, because the only way we are going to get a fence now is to build it ourselves. This is truely a sad day.
WHO CARES if Rudy endorses McCan’t. Was anyone actually even listening to Rudy in the first place?
As it’s been said before…political endorsements mean nothing. Same thing with Hollywood endorsements.
I dont care if rudy endorses Mccain if he endorses mitt then I might care.
I will loose all respect for Rudy if he endorses McCan’t. Then all those stories of Rudy being a closet socialist will be proven true in my book.
McCain for POTUS? More like for POS.
I’ll be taking the cut-and-run conservatives approach and stay home on election night. After all, McCain or Hillary … Where is the difference? They already vote much the same in the Senate.
Conservative Cat…
I respect your decision. I will be switching to McCain, althoug I am still holding out a slim sliver of hope that Rudy stays in. Huckabee is staying in, Rudy should as well.
The democrats are scared of Giuliani and McCain…They are licking their chops at facing Romney.
Maybe McCain will pick Rudy as his VP.
Right now I am disgusted.
eric aka the Tygrrrr Express
Now can there be any question? Pro-amnesty McCain gets an endorsement from pro-amnesty Guiliani. The two most liberal Republicans in the race. Wanna bet if McCain gets the nomination, Rudy will be his VP? Rush is right — if McCain wins the nomination, the Republican Party as we have known it is dead. And McCain and Rudy will throw in the first shovels of dirt.
It is extremely despressing to think that McCain might be the best that Republicans have to offer. What has happened to our party? McCain is not a conservative Republican. Plus, judging from what he supports for illegal immigration and such, the will of the people means nothing to him either. God help us if he gets the nomination. Won’t Teddy be happy!!
My husband and I plan to vote for Romney on Feb. 5th. I hope he does well and McCain fails badly.
pwNeD for making Gotti die in a cell like an animal. He did a lot of good for a lot of people.
I rarely listen to Rush but I caught a little bit of him the other day in the car and I couldn’t believe how much he’s changed - and what an irresponsible jerk he’s becoming. I see now why people are talking about sitting out the election if McCain gets the nod and all the rest - and why the dems are pushing McCain hard on an unwary public in anticipation of an easy November win when all the hard conservatives sit it out thanks to Rush’s nightmare-scenario urging.
Limbaugh used to be a fighter, a roll-up-your-sleeves kind of guy. He now appears to fancy himself as some kind of Yogi, rich enough to sit on a mountaintop and delude himself with visions of fans throwing themselves on the ground at the supposed wisdom of his insular pronouncements.
For him to say things like the Republican party will be forever changed, that conservatives may and even should sit out the elction may very well be how he feels and he’s entilted to that, of course. But for him to undermine everything everyone is working for by using his vast broadcast range by endlessly falling in love with sound of his own voice while he spews superior-minded fatalism is irresponsible beyond comprehension.
I used to be a modest fan, but if I never hear that dope’s fatalistic negativism (Reagan would be disgusted) again it will still be too soon. Thank God there are more sensible voices like Sean Hannity on the airwaves. Rush should pick up his fatalistic, Republican-nukking ventriloquist routine and take it to “Rio Linda” where it belongs. We need hard-bitten fighters, not self-absorbed anti-prophets.
Back from the tavern.Buh-bye Rudy, grow a pair and endorse Romney.Be a real American.
Stupid liberal–oops,redundency.My bad.
“…And another one bites the dust”. This November may involve taking a lot of Peptol-Bismol. Seems no matter who we vote for, we end up the real losers.
Stamp STUPID on Rudy’s forhead.
If Giuliani does drop out and throws his support to McCain, I would have one question:
“Mr. Giuliani, I thought you felt that the next POTUS needed to be someone with ‘executive‘ experience and you felt John McCain did not have that. If that were the case, how can you validate your change in position now and support a person you indicated yourself does not have the type of experience you insisted we need in the Oval Office?”
