How big is the House Democrats’ carbon footprint?
A tipster points to these photos of the Democrat bus brigade waiting outside the Longworth House Office Building to take them to a party retreat in Virginia. Seems the buses were left idling for nearly three hours–while the Democrats were inside blowing hot air at a global warming hearing.
The FamousDC blog notes that there’s a city environmental law in D.C. banning the idling of vehicles for more than three minutes.
But since the buses were on federal property, the gaseous Dems got a pass.
Carbon debits, anyone?

D.A.I.S.N.A.I.D.
Typical.
Pompous.
Arrogant.
Jerks.
Term limits, anyone?
And China is covered in Snow. Global warming my arse.
Shameless plug?
These global warming morons are nothing but hypocrites. It always has been and always will be “do as I say not as I do”. Can’t have a nanny state with out that kind of rhetoric.
YES!
Hypocrisy from the Dimicrap’s no way!
/sarc off
What was the temp in D.C. most desiel engines have to keep running in cold weather so the fuel does’nt freeze up but I believe there is an additive that they can use to keep them from doing so.
The fact is they don’t care about global warming it’s just another ruse to control the population.
Everything the Demo-craps do is an effort to expand big government.
Dimocraps raise your hands;
Who thinks the buses outside are adding to the problem?
From this week’s column by Walter Williams:
the late H.L. Mencken, explained this strategy, saying, “The whole aim of practical politics is to keep the populace alarmed, and hence clamorous to be led to safety, by menacing it with an endless series of hobgoblins, all of them imaginary.”
They do indeed attempt to keep us scared into surrendering our liberties. Global warming is only the latest.
Move along, folks. Nothing to see here. They got permission from the Goracle to keep the buses idling. After all, they were doing it in the name of global warming.
Be ascared…

It’s okay people. These buses were most likely running on “bio-diesel,” which makes it perfectly alright (in Liberal Land.)
Oh, yeah, and the light breeze was blowing the warm exhaust to an area populated with homeless veterans, and was helping to keep them warm. They couldn’t breathe very well, but that’s okay too, since bio-diesel exhaust is more acceptable that fossel fuel exhaust to most GW alarmists.
lol
the hypocrisy is delightful
I think I am going to throw up again.
It was around -35 with the wind chill here in the Chicago area last night. Maybe the Dems didn’t let the buses run long enough.
Michelle I still do not understand these carbon credits. Are they not nothing more then a money scam. No actual offset is done but money is redistributed into Al gores pockets along with his buisness buddies?
I thought everyone knew that laws are for the other folks, NOT the elites.
The saddest part of the Global Warming hypothesis is that so many people actually believe it.Of course, not everyone has access to the truth, getting their info from the MSM.What is really sad are the ones who have access to the real science ,but accept the B.S. out of convenience or because they’re too lazy or unconcerned to due a little research. There are several websites dedicated to getting the truth out,but apparently not many people want to hear the truth. It is easy to sit back and accept a lie, rather than face reality.
The diesel fuel won’t freeze, at least not in temperatures that humans can live through. It might get a bit more viscous but it won’t freeze. On the other hand, the diesel engines might freeze. If they get too cold, they’re a bear to start. That’s why they idle them.
Either way, the enviro-nazis with their wackadoodle theories on global warming are just elitists that want the entire world to share in their socialist misery. Except themselves, of course.
There are two sets of standards, those for ordinary folks and those for the Washington elite. I know I am not the only one that knows that.
Do a web search for indulgences. There are some distinct myths about indulgences, but basically, if you paid some money, your sins would be forgiven.
This is what carbon credits (from the Church of Environmentalism with pontiff AGore) are. You pay money to absolve you of any environmental sins.
And these morons claim to not believe in any religion.

.
Does someone know why buses idle for so long? It seems that the burning of gasoline would be quite costly. Is it that starting a bus engine is such a strain that avoiding it is worth the gas cost?
I’ll add that I’ve seen buses idle often in warm weather, so it’s just not a matter of avoiding engine freezing.
Carbon credits 101
1. Start a company that is non-profit from which you will sell “credits” towards nothing.
2. Make a movie about nothing that says man is responsible for making a huge mess of nothing.
3. Tell everybody if the pay for the credits towards nothing they can be neutral.
4. Make a huge ass nothing footprint and purchase credits from your non-profit company. You get the benefit of keeping your money and getting a tax write-off at the same time.
I hope this helps.
Say what you want but Gore is brilliant for this.
CarpiJugulum–I’d say you understand the carbon credit scam much better than most people. You described it perfectly.
You’re right,soap.Gore is crazy,but he ain’t stupid.
Can you spell “SCAM”?
Two terms. . .one in office, one in jail.
Engine freezing is part of it. Truckers leave their rigs running for reasons like needing the electricty to run A/C, heat, radio, etc. Basically, it’s just easier to leave it running. Some truck stops have installed devices that provide electricity, heat, A/C, so the engine can be off. Saves lots of fuel because an engine at idle is getting zero MPG.
How about during the air condition off in all the government offices in Washington DC. After all, government functioned a 150 years or so prior to the introduction of air conditioning.
Let’s do this for Mother Gaia!
This topic really burns my buns.
I’m the only conservative I know that believes global climate change is a real threat and that humanity does have an impact on it, and let me tell you…it’s lonely out here…
I can’t and won’t try to change anyone elses mind, and you won’t change mine, so don’t bother trying. We’ll just agree to wait and see what it looks like in 15 to 20 years or so. If I turn out to be wrong, I’ll happily admit it, unlike most politicians (and some of you).
I also don’t believe that ‘carbon credits’ or taxation will help or solve anything. I don’t think the U.N. should be involved (nor do I think the U.N. is worth anything at all.) I think Gore is as much a hypocrit as you say he is.
Not all global warming believers are the same. I’m not an “enviro-nazi with his wackadoodle theories”. I’m an Engineer at a Coal Fired Power Plant, I’m Catholic, and a Disabled Veteran. It’s probably safe to say that I know more about pollution than the majority of you. I’m not a koolaid drinker who listens to the Lame Stream Media. I’ve done plenty of research myself.
I wish all the nay-sayers could say the same thing. I hear lots of people spouting the same lines they heard on Rush or Laura Ingraham without doing any of the homework.
Even the world’s climatologists can’t agree on this topic, so why does Joe Blow think everyone who does believe is a whackjob? For every expert Rush gets, I’m sure I could find one who opposes him. If you even mention global warming to most conservatives, you get the ‘enviro-nazi wacko’ line.
I’ve heard that very same line from Democraps concerning the War on Terror.
It was also 54 degrees during the day. It dropped down to 2 within 10 hours and we did indeed have a -20 wind chill. Somewhat strange weather, no?
I could go on but I need to get back to pumping SO2, MgO, CaO, Al2O3, SiO2 and other toxins into the environment so I can support my family. (and we have one of the cleanest plants in the country.)
As everyone has known for generations, Congressmen are exempt from their own rules and laws. Will Rogers made a living ridiculing them. But, I’m sure, the Church of Global Warming will be busy today, passing out the indulgences. Sigh…if I only had 95 theses to nail on the Capitol door.
Polar ice caps on Mars are melting as well. Why? Big yellow ball has more to do with warming than ANYTHING man can do. During times of increased sun spots, temps rise. Before the industrial era there were melting periods and freezing periods. Greenland used to be green. The missing squadron (WWII era aircraft crash landed in Greenland) is buried under 200′ of ice. Polar ice caps have vegetation under them.
Google it all.
Yes, Greenland used to be green. 1000 AD was a very warm period of history, enough to make Gore, if he was present then, to have a major M.I.. There were no SUVs, no jets, no industry belching smoke, and they weren’t chopping down all the trees in the rain forests. Yet, agriculture boomed (North England grew grapes for wine), and travel became easier on the seas. Europe wasn’t devastated, and all the coastlines didn’t sink under water. The old “create an emergency and panic the people” to get power.
Hey Soap.
I agree with you 100%. Being ever watchful of the leftist rebuttals, there was a special the other night on The History channel that attempted to state that the most recent sunspot activity has slowed down so much that we should be cooler now. They attribute the warmer temps to human activity.
Here’s my problem with that: 1. It is still cooler today than it was before the little ice age, and 2. Just what is the correct temp for mother earth?
MrVIBEMAN,
I hear you on the statement about fear, and I never said republicans were above it. There is one difference, however: we did actually suffer a devastating terroriat attack, while the climate appears to only be shofting where it dumps the snow. (Snow in Jerusalem today, while NYC has 1st Jan is 75 years without snow.) (Arctic ice thinnng while antarctic ice thickening)
Just sayin….
Typical of democrap elitists, do as I say, not as I do BS. I can’t wait to throw this in the face of Jason Altmire, a freshman McCain democrap (i.e. pretending to be a conservative) at the next town hall meeting.
Yes we are supposed to have more global warming here tonight low of 25 and snow.
There are plenty of places here in the U.S., who could use some “global warming” right now. I know I could use a few days of it.
I will start riding my bike to work when Al Gore owns one home without a heated pool, instead of four.
Crapweasel hypocrites.
Thomas Leifson says:
“The ability of wealthy individuals like Al Gore to purchase what amounts to rights to pollute by buying carbon credits is a repulsive moral dodge, demanding us to consider useful analogies. One comparison that has occurred to many is the sale of Papal Indulgences that so infuriated Martin Luther.”
“During the Civil War, it was possible for well-to-do men who were drafted to pay a $300 “commutation fee” and escape the draft. The move sparked much public outrage, creating the impression that the war was a “rich man’s war” and probably contributing to the disgraceful draft riots in New York City, which led to the lynching of African Americans.
It seems to me that the purchase of carbon credits is a direct imitation of commutation fee. I don’t expect to see SUV-deprived soccer moms lunching the wealthy outside of fixed base operator terminals at haunts of private jet-setters like Teterboro and Santa Monica Airports, but I do expect public revulsion to rise and rise, as sacrifices demanded of ordinary people are evaded by the wealthy. The war on global warming seems very much a “rich man’s war.”"
