The BDS brats in Brattleboro…and Denny K’s postponement
I blogged last month about the impeachment loons in Brattleboro, Vermont who want to subject President Bush and VP Cheney to arrest if the leaders set foot in their town. The brats in Brattleboro received national attention this week after they moved their petition through the town Select Board. A vote on the BDS measure is slated for March 4. The AP plays its violin for town officials whose feelings are hurt because of a backlash and mockery:
“Resident Kurt Daims, who submitted the petition, said late Tuesday he was chagrined that the town and its employees were subject to ridicule.”
Anyone who wears a Chavista beret on any day other than Halloween deserves all the ridicule they get:
***
Meantime, what’s up with Denny K? He vowed to introduce his impeachment articles on the night of the State of the Union. To the nutroots’ dismay, he didn’t deliver. Who got to him? The Plain Dealer has news of his postponement:
After promising to mark President Bush’s final State of the Union speech by introducing articles of impeachment against Bush, Cleveland Democratic Rep. Dennis Kucinich postponed the effort.
Kucinich said Monday that he met with members of the House Judiciary Committee after making last week’s impeachment pledge. He said he came away “hopeful there will be an inquiry by the Judiciary Committee.”
“I will give them the opportunity to proceed before introducing articles of impeachment,” he said in a statement. The committee’s spokeswoman did not respond to requests for comment…
…. Kucinich told The Plain Dealer editorial board last week that nine of the Judiciary Committee’s 40 members favor his bid to impeach Cheney.
“I do not believe that there will be an impeachment this year — I don’t think that will happen — but I do think that the questions relating to an inquiry of both the president and the vice president are important so that our nation has a real understanding of the effort that was made, a consistent effort, to mislead the people into supporting a war,” he said.

I have to say, VT secession is looking more and more attractive. I think I’ll sign up and support their efforts, if only to expedite the process.
these people are amazing. freedom of speech means you get feedback for ridiculous ideas. if you don’t have to cohones to deal with it, stay mute.
but i will say that being a spitting image of Castro doesn’t help your cause.
If you wish to do something meaningful you can quit purchasing Vermont Teddy Bears, stop ordering PajamaGrams, don’t eat Ben and Jerry’s Ice Cream and switch your life insurance from National Life Insurance Company to anyone else. These are just a few of the companies that are based out of Vermont.
Glad I don’t have any reason to go to Vermont anymore and pass Brattleboro, on I-91. What do you expect from a state that votes on secession every legislature session? All symbolic. Neither Bush or Cheney have any reason to go there, and the police have no authority anyway to arrest them. All they want is some attention as a change from their usual boring lives…ignored by everyone.
Not surprised considering that Vermont has continuously elected a socialist senator.
Forget about Vermont. Can you fathom what abysmal idiots inhabit Ohio’s Tenth Congressional District? Of course, my district in NH elected Carol Shea-Murtha, so never mind…
As a employee in the travel industry I’ve stopped recommending or booking any kind of packages into Vermont. Yeah, it’s just me who’s doing it, but that’s thousands of dollars a year they won’t be getting from my clients.
What has this country come to? A total NUT is planning to introduce Articles of Impeachment without a single piece of factual evidence or truth. And he’s doing this while being paid by the taxpayers.
I guess that means we need to find people in the House & Senate to make up ludicrous false charges to file against Pelosi, Reid, Kennedy, and the rest of these maniacs. What’s the difference?
Yet another example of how utterly stupid and clueless these people are. I also think contempt would be a better word to use than ridicule.
Please, please, OH PLEASE, bring me the video of the Birkenstock-shod police of this Maoist berg getting their butts kicked by the PROTUS Secret Service detail.
That would go some ways to brighten my mood in the face of McCain’s filthy “win” in Florida.
Let the loony fringe of Vermont secede from the Union. One less socialist paradise to support with our stolen tax dollars, matter of fact I would love to see the whole blue state northeast go with them.
Boomer:
Walter Williams has long proposed a division of the U.S. I’m ready.
We tried it once. Some guy named Lincoln rode in and spoiled all the fun
theroc5156 – That’s 2 socialist senators, and a socialist representative.
I’ll not only support all of you keeping your dollars out of Vermont, but urge you to contact governments of Vermont and Brattleboro, letting them know how you feel. While you’re at it, remember that Burlington is also a bastion of Marxist ideology.
But please help us die-hard conservatives change things here! Please consider moving into this state, in droves! That’s the only way we’re going to take it back.
I disagree with you there, Boomer. If the state of Vermont tries to secede from the Union, the only choice is to invade and occupy Vermont with National Guard troops from Tennessee, Alabama, Mississippi, Georgia, Florida and the Carolinas.
Lots of fuel-guzzling military hardware like Abrams tanks, Bradleys, 2-1/2 ton truck convoys, Blackhawks, Super Stallions and Chinooks. Jackbooted soldiers of Capitalist Empire on every street corner, openly carrying loaded weapons and Bibles too, for good measure.
Arrest all the Communists and Socialists, make all the Democrats wear a big electric blue “D” on their clothing, and appoint a Republican Conservative Governor, like say Senator Jeff Sessions (R-AL).
Then watch the fun of all those twits up there living their worst right-wing fascist capitalist nightmare.
One can dream.
I can tell you that Kurt Daims is just another attention seeking activist who lives amongst us up here. Just like Danny boy from Newfane who spear headed the Vermont impeachment effort and is contemplating running for our one seat in Congress because Peter Welsh did not act aggressively enough to end the war and impeach Bush. These loud mouths are here because there are so few people living in Vermont that it’s easy for them to garner attention. Believe me, most Vermonters do not want to lose the wars in Iraq and Afghanistan. We have lost too many of our Vermont sons and daughters ( a disproportional number compared to other states) to have their sacrifice go for naught. Vermont is a wonderful place to live and raise your children. It’s really a shame that a few activists can cast such a dark shadow over one of the most beautiful and quaint states in all of America. And by the way, Bernie Sanders has a Brooklyn accent. Go Figure.
I would like to say that your above comment is the most reasonable thing written by a Vermonter that I have ever seen.
Maybe there is hope for our Union after all.
Well, as someone who has adopted Vermont as their home state, I do wish some posters would stop painting the entire place with such a broad brush. Almost everyone I know up here in Southwestern Vermont has relocated from NJ, NY or Conn, and they’re all Fox-watching conservatives.
The weirdos may be loud, and in the hubs they do vote majority liberal, but everywhere else they tend to be not just Republican, but conservative.
Just a little reminder that no one thing is true for everyone or everything.
Mr. Daims, ya know what they say about shakin’ the bedpan…what else did you expect but to get a little splash-back on your own sleeves?
Alan-of-vermont and I were posting at the same time. Nice job, Alan!
And we do have a Republican Governor.
Help me out here. If DK does not expect the judicary committee to act on impeachment this year, then isn’t it all moot? Or is moot a word he cannot cmoprehend?
GD, id love to see that actually play out though too funny, how many heads would Secret service crack. makes me all giddy thinking about it
What’s worse is living in a place (Mpls 5th District) that is a wanna be Bettlebro. Whatever the biggest nuts are doing, we are going to try to top it! AND we’re most likely going to get Al Franken as our next Senator – just to seal the deal on officially being the political laughingstock of the country.
If I were POTUS or the VP even, I would have been there the moment they even mentioned I would be arrested. As soon as I was arrested and held against my will, I would call for an extraction and then an air strike. After the dust settled, I would sell the land to American Indians (AMERICANS) to build casino’s on.
Alas, a man can dream.
Someone please help me out here. Several residents of Communist Vermont write that there are a lot of conservatives in vermont. Where???
Please stand up and have yourselves counted for crying out loud.
If there are so many conservatives why then does Vermont lead the way in being so left. If it were not for the fact Berekly is on the left coast and left side of the map. Vermont would be there.
I think Vermont has a few conservatives but as many as being claimed. No they are more like McCAn’t was a few years ago. Closet Socialist.
Hell, I’d show up in Brattleboro with a nice Secret Service detachment and maybe a platoon of marines just for fun. Come get me, ya idjits, I dare ya!
In any place, there are good and bad. Actually, Vermont has very nice people, overall. Walk Main Street in Montpelier and be prepared to be greeted by passerbys frequently. Sit outside of whoever you’re visiting and have people wave to you, as they drive by. Always been nice salespeople too. Countryside is beautiful. It’s just that they vote for the worse people to represent them…perhaps just to get them out of town?

I hear ya.
I’m a Dover boy myself (DHS almost 40 years ago); but, job away from home for 30 years.
I’ve heard that it’s due to too many leftists/socialists moving in from Massataxes and other states.
Have you heard the old saying?:
“Portsmouth by the sea…Dover by the smell.”
Keep on keeping on.
If only….
I have a few buddies that are members of the President’s Praetorian Guard. All pipe hitters of the first order. If I were the President, I’d roll through town just for S&G’s,and to let my boys blow off some steam.
Don’t confuse being loud and tightly organized with having the largest number. We’re telling you of our first-hand experience. Please don’t attempt to tell us that your theory outweighs our experience. Besides, the press never writes a story with the headline “WELL-DISCIPLINED CONSERVATIVES MIND OWN BUSINESS, news at 11:00″
Vermont is a poster child for closed borders and strict immigration control. The nutcases who now dominate the state moved there from other states.
The native Vermonters are sane. Independent and cantankerous, yes, but sane.
Heh. That’s a good one.
Maybe “Rolling Thunder” should announce a rally in Brattleboro…..
Well there’s always next year!
(ha!)
I’m with Archon (#29 above).
Good thing I’m not the president or vice president. I’d schedule a lengthy vacation there. Can you imagine the local weinee cops going up against the Secret Service? Too funny…
I feel for the “sane” Vermonters. I’m originally from upstate New York and all the liberals have taken over my home town of Ithaca, NY. You think Saunders and his ilk are bad…try Rep. Maurice Hinchey all your life. Yuck.
The one saving grace is that I don’t live there. Sorry, Mom and Dad. Hillary promised upstate suckers jobs and it never happened. While I understand that there is a sane segment of Vermonters around, not even the sanest of the population can stop people from running in the other direction.
Well, gosh, Kurt! I don’t know why anyone would have a problem with a hair-brained idea like that.
Is the Wonderland Zoo in Vermont?
“Resident Kurt Daims, who submitted the petition, said late Tuesday he was chagrined that the town and its employees were subject to ridicule.”
I’ve often wondered at Looney Leftwing Liberals who do stupid things, then get amazed when people think they’re stupid. As Forrest Gump once said, “Stupid is as stupid does.”
That was only because South Carolina attacked Fort Sumter. Had the Confederacy not fired first, Lincoln would have been very hard-pressed to get support for a Union first strike.
Remember, it wasn’t a Civil War. That’s where two or more factions try to take control of one country. The Confederacy wanted nothing to do with the Union. They just wanted the Union military posts off of Confederate property.
If there is a division of the U.S. and Hiltery is elected president, you can bet she’ll pull troops from all over the world to attack. It will be like every other time the socialists have squashed freedom: Hungary 1956, Czechoslovakia 1968, Tiananmen Square 1989.
Except that you can bet the majority of US servicemen and women won’t be party to such a thing. Ours is not an army of poor conscripts who need to be cajoled or threatened into battle. Now little red books among the leaders of our military, and oftentimes, the officers are looked on by the line troops with amusement (and sometimes disgust), not fear.
I have a whole team of guys in the room that back my sentiments.
Archon, please tell your guys to accept my apology. I’m an Army brat that should know better.
If prez Hillary (shudder!) should ever try this, there would be a massive backlash.
I forgot to take into account the integrity of our military. My profound apologies.
President Bush did what Neville Chamberlain of England, France, the U.S.A. should have done in 1936 when Hitler marched his troops into the Rhineland. WW 2 might have been avoided. There would have been casualties, and political jackals would have made much over the folly of such ‘overreaction’, much as the Democraps have done for 4 years over Iraq. I hope we suffer one more good attack. A dirty nuke, say, or a cloud of anthrax right in the town square of Brattleboro. I cannot believe that minimally decent adults would behave as the Brattleboro brats have. Ick. May you get what you deserve.
John, no apologies are necessary. I understand where you were coming from. believe me, the guys and I have discussed before that particular “what if” scenario.
Pokenhorn,
How dare you. HOW DARE YOU! You would wish death upon your fellow Americans, just because they don’t agree with you? You sir, are worse than those you wish ill on. People like you are the reason people like me do what we do. You should hang your head in shame.
Well, I don’t think we’ll have a civil war here. Besides, everyone is too busy watching tv, playing video games and going to soccer practice.
If a state(s) did decide to secede, there isn’t anything in the Constitution to prevent them. It was a main reason why Lee and others (like Davis) weren’t tried. Vermont could secede. It sure would be interesting seeing them survive. Oh, you can forget your Ben & Jerry’s and Cabot cheese, etc.. Without a trade agreement, it will have to wait. A Consulate would have to be set up in Montpelier. That takes time…so no ingoing/outgoing traffic on I-91, for example, or flights in/out of Burlington, until ambassadors are exchanged. But, worse of all, no Federal money, and poor Sanders and Leahy would have to sit at home. Maybe Canada can help…takes time though. Yes, would make a most entertaining idea.
To Archon: I get on fine with those who disagree with me, provided they are thoughtful, decent, and principled. It is the brats from Brattleboro, and those like them, who move me to speak as I do. With this kind of scurrilous betrayal, you forfeit any standing as a fellow countryman. Would any community have threatened FDR and his staff with arrest after Dec. 1941? They would have been jailed for treason. Americans at that time ‘got it’. Everybody lined up on the same side to defeat the enemy. Today’s Dems have lined up squarely with the enemy. An adoring press gives them cover. No lie, no perfidy, no deceit, no slime is over the line if it serves their end of destroying President Bush. The Brat officials no doubt get on well with Vermont’s infamous judges who wink at child molesters. Do you wink at terrorists too? The Brat announcement to the world makes our nation look like one populated by fools and cringing cowards. One lesson like 9/11 should be enough. For you and many others, it isn’t.
Pokenhorn,
While I will agree, whole heartedly, that a vocal minority today do not “get it”, I still will not wish death upon them, simply for their political beliefs. Down that rode lie facism, and I will not be party to such things.
You say that an adoring press gives these people cover. You are wrong. It is the Constitution that gives these people, and the press, their cover. While you or I might consider their opinions to be borderline seditious, they have yet to actually commit any acts of treason. I refuse to punish people for free thought.
Believe me, I didn’t need 9/11 to be aware of the threat that Islamic facism presents this country. I am well aware of it. I have spent the majority of my professional career combating it. My boots were on Islamic land not 18 hours after those planes crashed. I am intimately familiar with the dangers posed. So take your “holier than thou-super-patriot” act and sell it elsewhere. You’ll lose here.
As for this little gem,
No, but I usually deliver a witty one-liner before pulling the trigger. Panache and style, my friend. Panache and style.
This so-called ‘retired’ machinist, at age 54? WTF! He’s either a ward of the state sucking up some disability pension or a lying sack of goo! Either way he’s a flaming libturd!
What a collection of fools! And that Chavista beret looks, well, very democrapic on him.
Talk about a dreamer!
I’m sorry, but what they are doing…threatening to arrest a sitting President and Vice President? There has GOT to be a law against it. I cannot believe…no…I REFUSE to believe that what these idiots are doing is legal.
Every damn last one of them…every person in that town who signs it or votes for it needs to be locked up for treason, pure and freakin simple.
Respectfully, I must take issue with my fellow Vermonters here who maintain that conservatives are in the majority in the state. There are just too many people who either want the hand-outs the elected liberals are giving them, or who are happy to let the government assume many of their personal responsibilities, such as health care, child care, and charity — takes a load off peoples’ shoulders. And they also like the fact that the Dems, most notably Uncle Bernie, promise to “make the rich pay!” — Although the wealthy in this state typically are the strongest advocates for Bernie and the other Dems.
One more thing: although Governor Douglas is a Republican, he is not a conservative…a point he made abundantly clear to me in a discussion we had together.
