There are just too many people who either want the hand-outs the elected liberals are giving them, or who are happy to let the government assume many of their personal responsibilities, such as health care, child care, and charity -- takes a load off peoples' shoulders. And they also like the fact that the Dems, most notably Uncle Bernie, promise to "make the rich pay!" -- Although the wealthy in this state typically are the strongest advocates for Bernie and the other Dems. One more thing: although Governor Douglas is a Republican, he is not a conservative...a point he made abundantly clear to me in a discussion we had together. Respectfully, I must take issue with my fellow Vermonters here who maintain that conservatives are in the majority in the state. That takes time...so no ingoing/outgoing traffic on I-91, for example, or flights in/out of Burlington, until ambassadors are exchanged. But, worse of all, no Federal money, and poor Sanders and Leahy would have to sit at home. Maybe Canada can help...takes time though. Yes, would make a most entertaining idea.
