“Let Lynne Stewart rot”
When we last caught up with the convicted, disbarred, disgraced jihad lawyer Lynne Stewart, she was preparing to teach a legal ethics class at Hofstra U. (Previous Lynne Stewart blogging here.)
The New York Post editorial board brings news that a three-judge panel met earlier this week to consider prosecutors’ requests to mete out a harsher sentence for her role in abetting her terrorist client and 1993 World Trade Center bombing/NY landmark bombing plot mastermind Omar Abdel-Rahman. She got 28 months. She could have received 30 years:
Nevertheless, District Judge John Koeltl decided that Stewart had performed “a public service . . . to the nation” in representing “Blind Sheik” Omar Abdel-Rahman – regardless of any, well . . . overzealousness in his cause.
Yet Stewart went far beyond legal work in the service of Abdel-Rahman, the architect of the 1993 World Trade Center bombing and numerous other plots against New York City landmarks.
Despite an explicit pledge to uphold Abdel-Rahman’s court-ordered isolation, Stewart, a jury found, smuggled in messages from terrorist Rifa’l Ahman Tara urging the sheik to support renewed Islamic violence in Egypt – then smuggled out a coded dispatch that torpedoed a cease-fire between the sheik’s terror organization and the Egyptian government.
If that’s not abetting terrorism, it’s hard to say what is.
Nor was this just some innocent mistake by a starry-eyed naif: Stewart, a hardened radical, boasted during trial of her belief that “entrenched institutions will not be changed except by violence” and “you can’t always single out the combatants from the non-combatants.”
Unfortunately, Koeltl appears to have at least one booster on the panel.
“I find the work Judge Koeltl did admirable to a degree that is amazing,” said Judge Guido Calabresi, who is famous himself for comparing President Bush’s election to the rise of Hitler and Mussolini.
Amazing, sure – but admirable?
Try disgusting.
The plain fact is that Lynne Stewart broke her promise – and the law – in helping her terrorist client collude with his underlings when no one else could.
Twenty-eight months for that is an insult to justice – and dangerous to boot.
I second the NYPost: Let this American jihad colluder rot.

Lyn Stewart is nothing more then an antiAmerican crusader. She lines her pockets at the expense of the American public all the while defending and crusadeing to eliminate the Constitution.
Her ideology and support for those who want to eliminate America and are wayof life is disgusting. 30 Years would have been way to little time for her to serve. A seditionist and traitor like her should have been marched out in the middle of time square, lock in the stocks for a week then shot publicly.
To harsh? Not when it comes down to the basic me or them mentality. In her case she has them over the me.
Considering how the left believes that christianity creates terrorists, I’m surprised that these judges aren’t going to keep her in protective custody. Instead, according to liberal dogma, they are about to sentence her to certain death. If only …

I don’t recall ever hearing of a case (at least since the close of the Civil War) where someone was charged with Sedition. I know a few guys selling secrets have been charged with Treason, but I think they use that charge WAYYYY too sparingly in these times.

If there was ever any doubt about the ideology being taught in our “Centers of higher
educationindoctrination” this should remove any and all doubt.Two Questions:
Is she still teaching legal ethics at Hofsta?
If she smuggled documents (thatwould have promoted further harm to U.S. citizens)into the terrorist that she was representing – didn’t she become a TRAITOR?
Do we still have firing squads for TRAITORS?

I say we make Lynne Stewart the Jihad Virgin Poster Child.
For those of us who cannot understand why this “thing” was not punished more severely, we need to be reminded that punishing attorneys is not the compassionate, politically correct thing to do.
They do so much good, in general, especially for the misunderstood, miscreant masses that kill, rape, maim, and terrorize in the name of whatever.
They give a voice to the under-represented criminal masses, not only nationally, but internationally as well. This delicate “creature” was only following her heart. How can we condemn such a compassionate spirit?
She should be held up as an example of the American Dream. A beacon for tolerance, fairness, forgiveness, and gullibility, which permeates our liberal justice system. NOT!!!
For those that want a kinder, gentler form of punsihment for this traitor, well, “Here’s your sign!”
Two words: Firing squad
As an attorney, I understand the need to have anyone tried in our justice system represented by competent counsel. It is not to protect the individual, frequently; rather, it is to protect the Constitution we should all cherish.
But this “woman” is the arch-type for the unpatriotic, America-loathing Left. She has made hating and demolishing America her life’s work, and now she has been caught WAAAAYYYY over the line.
She should have been given decades behind bars, and never allowed to speak to anyone associated with the law except her own unfortunate lawyers.
I’m surprised some hasn’t popped her off, but I’m also surprised that no one has popped off OJ.
What ever happened to TREASON?? Other countries that matter to themselves have it. We don’t! What does that say about our society?
This country needs to turn around and go back to the principals it was founded on. NOW!

Alarm bells went off when I saw the last name Calabresi. Sure enough, he’s the father of notorious conservative basher Massimo Calabresi from Time magazine. The apple doesn’t fall from from the tree.

Lynne Stewart is obviously the kind of criminal to whom Hillary Rodham Clinton wishes to restore the vote. Anyone actually believe this slime ever voted for a Republican or a conservative?
While our system of justice requires legal counsel to everyone charged with a crime, It also requires that said legal counsel be law abiding themselves. Yes, I think most commenters here are harsh, I also think that she should be punished for her crimes.
I also wouldn’t mind seeing her exiled to someplace like Egypt or Iran.
Executing her first would certainly speed up the process.
Now I see why the burka was invented.

The charge of treason carries a range of penalties from a mandatory minimum sentence of five years in jail to a maximum sentence of the death penalty. The charge of providing material support to a designated foreign terrorist organization carries a potential sentence of 15 years in prison.

To look at that face I would say she has already rotted….but lets put her away for 20 or better to make sure.
The thought of having a woman attorney representing a Muslim, cracks me up! I’ll bet the Sheik felt comfortable around her because there was no sexual tension, nor temptation…Oh, wait. Sheik Rahman is blind…now I get it. He didn’t have to look at her. How precious!
A criminal hostile to the United States, like that of Ted Kennedy’s excursions to the Soviet Union during the Reagan years, should be held accountable and purged.
Allowing this trash to teach is likened to gasoline teaching fire to burn.
The facts in this case cry out for a harsh sentence. And the judge here needs to be removed for abuse of his judicial powers.
If Stewart receives a sentence of less than 30 years, perhaps the trial judge should serve the difference between 30 years and Stewart’s sentence. Such a light sentence is tantamount to aiding and abetting an aider and abetter. That just might put an end to judicial policy making.
They hanged Mary Surratt for a lot less than that.

Yes, I am not surprised by this at all. I would be willing to bet the political leanings of the jusdge that lightly slapped her wrist were not escatly Right of center, let alone anywhee near conservative.

So, most likely, people died in Egypt as a result of the notes passed back and forth between the terrorist and the starry eyed “lawyer”. Judge Koeltl and Judge Guido Calabresi should be scrutinized because of these “poor judgements”.
