Illegal alien activists march for Oregon driver’s licenses

Background:
Oregon’s new drivers’ license rules took effect Monday, and the Oregon Legislature is considering placing the new rules in state law. That sparked demonstrations by groups supporting and opposing the new rules.
The new rules make it more difficult for illegal immigrants to get an Oregon driver’s license, requiring a valid Social Security number and other documentation.
Opponents of the new rules marched around the Capitol in protest, saying the rules are unfair and would end up hurting families. Supporters of the new rules gathered on the front steps of the Capitol, collecting signatures for an initiative that would also limit driver’s licenses to citizens and legal residents. Oregon State Police stood between the two groups.

How droll. The illegal aliens are so brazen that they’ve now taken to driving across our borders and demanding driver’s licenses!
I’m trying to think of something witty to say, but I just don’t feel like being bitter.
Apparently immigration laws just aren’t enforceable.
Driving is a privilege that can be granted and taken away. Driving is NOT a right.
By marching are they NOT saying - “hey, arrest me I am here illegally”? Where is ICE? Sheesh, talk about your no-brainer.
What is to stop this? Not ONE single person running for President will say ‘now I don’t think this is un-lawful’ Give them every perk American’s have. They will vote for ME. The illegals and muslims will crater the country with us all giving in to their demands.

The leading candidates from both parties are going to approve amnesty for them so, why not?

I’ve never understood how deporting aliens and getting rid of their privileges “hurts families.”
If you deport the whole family back to Mexico, how does that “hurt the family?”
Anyway, these illegal children are learning in public schools how much better Mexico and all other countries are than the “imperialistic” U.S.A. So, by liberal logic, wouldn’t it HELP families to have them deported?

What we need to do is something like the police do to catch people with warrants, you know how they tell them they have won something like $10,000.
Tell them that their are going to be a march for illegal aliens rights and for everyone that shows up will recieve $1,000 cash and $500 in food coupons, or tell them to show up and get automatic citezenship, do it in several cities around the country on the same day. I’ll bet we could get a couple of million of them and send them back over the border real quick.
Seriously I think that the OK,AZ laws should be adopted in each state and as in OK,AZ they would flee back to their native mexico.

For the life of me I cannot understand why and how illegal aliens are/were obtaining licenses, receiving any public assistance or enrolling in schools. If I were to try any of those things without a S.S. number I would be refused service, period-no exception. If I used a fake number I would be most likely quickly discovered, prosecuted and given a large fine and/or jail sentence. Why are these people being given preferential treatment over citizens and legal immigrants?

For over four years I have been telling my three (grown) children that illegal immigration and islamofascism are the two biggest threats to their way of life in this century. They are now starting to think that I am not as dumb as I used to be.
Maybe the DMV in each state could have mail-in applications from the many countries that send us their emigrants. That way, the applicants would get a valid license to drive in their home country!

Using someone else’s social security number is a FELONY. Making up an otherwise unused social security number is a $250,000 fine. I wonder how many such fines have been levied in the past few years. ‘Nada’ is my guess.
And of course I hear them chanting and ranting in Spanish!! Obviously, next they would want drivers licences study manuals and written tests in spanish and during their driving test the DMV employee must speek spanish. If a crowd of Americans went down to Tijuana and pulled this crap we would be arrested, taken to the nearest ATM to empty the limit and held for ransom.

Maybe I will commission the J S Ragman Institute for Fairness in Public Policy to do a study of the impact of the United States annexing all of Mexico, as the 51st through 75th states.
It would increase our population by about 108 million, although the SFGate website says that about 10% of all Mexican citizens live in the United States now.
We wouldn’t have to worry about our birth rate falling off.
We wouldn’t have to worry about so many $US being sent back across the border.
We could have access to the 3.5 million barrels of oil produced every day in Mexico.
We could clean up the corruption in the Mexican government and replace it with Democrat carpetbaggers.
We could ensure that only those qualified to drive got drivers licenses.
We wouldn’t have to worry about a foreign government refusing to extradite someone if they faced the death penalty.
It seems as though the Mexican government has no trouble securing its southern border.

Too late … go to any DMV and you will find the drivers license manuals in both languages … and most government offices now have all their forms in both languages … in AZ many of the grocery store weekly ads are in both languages … and most canned goods are labeled in both languages …

Yeah, the obvious thing is that families aren’t going to get hurt by this.
The not so obvious thing is that if they repeat that line often enough, you’ll get enough people here starting to think that, and soon you won’t be able to stop it.

We could have annexed all of Mexico after winning the Mexican War, with all of present day Mexico being English-speaking by now. However, certain politicians during the Polk Administration had an irrational fear of Roman Catholicism, so we took half the loaf. On the other hand, we would now be complaining about illegals crossing from Guatemala.
One thing that drives me nuts living here in the Portland area is seeing the illegals almost EVERYWHERE! In the past 3 years I’ve gone from a regular drivers license to a Class B CDL, to a Class A CDL to a Class A with T endorsement (double/triple trailers). Each time I’ve gone to the DMV I was always shocked by the sheer number of hispanics in there that I’m sure were nearly all illegals. Thankfully a little common-sense prevailed here and they made it harder for the illegals to get a license

political whores that would sell our country out just for a few votes. If they
had to live in the real world with the rest of us they just might have a different
view of illegals. The area around Ft Worth, Tx is working alive with them and

It’s amazing…utterly amazing…that we cannot enforce our laws anymore. We have politicians more interested in votes than in the country’s safety. Power,now, is the first priority. We have dumb-downed the country so badly, that we now have illegal aliens marching in the streets, demanding “their” rights. Next thing we’ll have is robbers/thieves marching because they “are just trying to make a living”. Where’s ICE?
As a legal alien resident, my 20+ years perfect European driving record wasn’t taken into account when I moved here and I had to pay a higher insurance premium as I was classed as a new driver.
Funnily enough, they accepted Mexican driving experience and thus much lower premiums for…well… illegal immigrants.
TXRose … sorry about the invasion from AZ and OK … but other states could learn from what we have done … here in AZ we got issues on the ballot and passed them easily … then the labor groups and such took them all to court and their high-priced lawyers got some of them overturned … but we didn’t give up … and finally our state legislature got the message and did something … and guess what … those same high priced lawyers and groups are finding no luck so far at getting the new employer law overturned … people have to fight … often times over and over until they get it right … but it is worth it …

have a fix for that. Rescind the anchor child law and send everyone back to where
they came from. These people should not be rewarded for breaking the law and
continuing to break the law by staying here. If an American citizen is so stupid as
to marry an illegal, then she/he should go with them when they are deported if she/
he doesn’t want to break up the family. We hear that there are not enough agents
to round these people up but as I have said before, go to the places where they work or hang out waiting for work. Doesn’t take a rocket scientist to figure this out.

Why do I have to have a drivers license then. Or carry automotive insurance, or hell health in surance then? If our laws are so unfair why do I have to obey them.
Maybe we shgould go to Cancun, Cozumel, or Mexico City, get drunk and run a few dozen of them over. All the while getting jobs in Mexico and working under the table so we do not have to pay taxes. Then crowd theri medical services and DEMAND health care for free. Seems only fair. They come here and do this so lets go there and do it.

The illegals do not bother with insurance or even legal tags … they steal tags off of cars in junk yards …

Our son keeps threatening to move to New Zealand and I keep saying if people like he
and our daughter in law don’t stay here and fight then “they” have won. By they, I
mean everyone that wants to bring this great country down. Why do we keep sending
open borders people to DC or to our state capitals? Because a lot of them lie to us
until they get there. Then, they’ll try to convince you that they have to compromise
in order to get things that interest you passed. Then, eventually, they fess up and let
you know that, yes, they are, after all, for open borders. In other words, politicians,
lie! I used to know KB Hutchison and at that time she either wasn’t for open borders
or was keeping that little sentiment under her hat. Boy! How she has changed. I must confess that I did not GW Bush was more sympathetic towards illegals than I would have liked because Jeb’s wife is Hispanic, but I didn’t realize to what extent he was sympathetic before I voted for him twice for President.
It’s a mite hard to support their protest when I can’t understand the language they’re using.

TXRose - New Zealand isn’t looking so good these days I hear - nice place to visit, but not to live anymore. I hear their crime rates per capita have gone through the roof, huge amount of people on welfare, high taxes, borders open to undesirables but tight as anything on productive immigrants, and many people who are able to contribute to the economy are leaving - pretty much where the US is heading actually.

Ranting and chanting in Spanish really irritates the heck out of me. What really gets me is I just ate a Nestle candy bar and the freaking wrapper had the nutrition facts in English and Spanish. Corporate America is selling us out by not only hiring illegal invaders now they are marketing and pandering to them too. I will be sending a flaming e-mail to Nestle shortly. I did not find anywhere in the article that identifies the marchers as illegal. Suppose ICE had picked them all up and there was no illegals. Lots of lawsuits and lots of happy attorneys.
I live here in Texas and everyone knew our governor was lying when he stood at the border and said he was going to get tough, Yet people voted for him anyway. Same thing going on with McCain now. Everyone here knows he is a liar.

What burns me is that they don’t even make a half-a$$ effort to learn English. I used to live in S. America and after 3 months (no previous traning) spoke Spanish better than most illegals here speak English after 5 years. After two years I spoke fluently. Couldn’t they at least learn enough English so they could chant at their protests in the native language?
I can hardly believe that after so many of us put in so many hours on the phone and faxing and emailing last year including a Bank of America protest - we still got stuck with McCain. Why couldn’t we have seen this coming and rallied around Mitt earlier? Probably too late now - but I’ll vote against McCain.

Wait a minute… if one area requires a valid ss# the illegals will move to another area causing real estate values to go up in the first area. The first area will then be able to collect more tax revenue (and reduce spending for social services) & more tax revenue can be used to increase the size of government… so removing illegals would help the Dems… hmmmmm, this might catch on for all the wrong reasons.

I don’t think the immigration battle will ever be won as long as there’s the perception that racism is involved. Comments like the one rightisright made don’t help. And it’s not about being PC, before anyone starts with that nonsense.
The biggest problem with this illegal thing is the calls of racism. If we don’t fight
back when people on that side scream racist at us, we’ll never get this solved.
They know that calling their opponents racist will usually shut them up and they’ll

Hey, i know, howzabout we promise them a drivers license after they do 3 years of voluntary community service work— such as building the fence, cleaning up the oil spill here in SFO Bay, or Superfund sites around the country.

When we had the marches in LA, it was the safest and least congested day in recent history on the freeways.
It was also a target rich environment for ICE but Julie Meyers was asleep at the switch.
My wife, who is Indonesian, has been trying for years, to get her permanent residency in the U.S.. Previously, she was married to an American who died, living her a widow (years ago). Immigration screwed up the whole process and left her confused and digusted. Over a year ago, we decided to try again….forms (some months the same forms) one month, money the next. Finally, we got a note that her application was “approved”. All that is needed is the interview. Guess where we need to go for an interview? American Embassy,Jarkarta, Indonesia! That’s about as far away from Virginia as you can get, unless they had a moonbase. I refuse to go, of course, so now it’s back to immigration and try another way to get things done. Amazing that no-one there could figure that maybe something isn’t right, sending the notice to us in Virginia. I have a feeling it is back to the immigration lawyer and try to figure something out that immigration can understand. Meanwhile, she can’t work, without a green card. It’s been years in this battle for her. I told her that maybe she ought to go to the Safeway, and stand around with the rest of the illegals and get work that way.
She won’t do that, of course. She is as “anti-illegal” as I am. She knows more government and American history than your average H.S. graduate…maybe even college. Last July 4th, she sat down for 10 hours and watched videos of the “American Revolution”, paper and pen busy (pizza for dinner). A conservative. You can recognize her usually as the one with an American flag on her blouse or hat. Sometimes, I can wonder why it isn’t best to be just “illegal” and get the benefits right away…like a job, house, drivers’ license, healthcare…rather than go through the quagmire of trying to do things right and legal. Just venting some frustration. (Just a thought, not a sermon).
Only in America can criminals march to protest the laws that they’re breaking. In any sane part of the world, the DHS would seize the opportunity for a round-up.
This is just in time for McCain to talk about citizenship at CPAC today. I wonder if anybody will drag that answer out of him today.
So if I move south of the border and squat there, they have to give me a drivers license, print everything in English so I can read it. Provide me with public assistance, medical, civic- access to courts ect.. provide me with a lawyer if they try to deport me. And I get to contact their media and call them racist “broadcasted” and in newprint, for trying to have me removed because I am living in their country illegally? Oh and I can demand they give me citizenship, Where do I sign up?

People are saying that if we protesting about illegals getting all of these special rights here in the US then the Mexican Government is the Queen Bee on Racism. Mexico treats its citizens like crap because it fails to create a first world economy and depends on other nations to help create jobs for its citizens. Is the Mexican government ignorant? Is it helpless? They seem to be able to have a high birthrate and that about covers its ability to accomplish anything. If Mexico can’t provide social services and jobs in its own territory how can it do that in the SouthWest of the US?
