I agree with you. I admire Ms Malkin, but some of her supporters have gone bonkers. Many of them oppose McCain for principled reasons, but to vote for Hillary is insane.

I wrote the “FALL INTO LINE” article that trackbacks here. I want people to see how rabid some of the opposition is.

Many of you are so consumed with hating McCain that you have ABANDONED conservatism by quitting in order to spite McCain and the GOP establishment. There is one word for you that are giving up in a fit of pique, for you who will not stand and continue the fight while it still matters.

Who said anything about quitting the fight for conservatism?

Just because I happen to think McCain is not fit to be the President has nothing to do with my support for other conservatives like Jeff Sessions in the Senate. I will continue to fight to get conservatives elected in Congress and the Senate.

It just amazes me that some think people whom actually think principles matter are “cowards” and have abandoned conservative principles.

Thank-you for your great posts here on this forum. I could not agree more and it refreshing to see that some have not forgotten about Juan McCain’s despicable past record. It seems some would rather forget his record and support him in the name of the so called GOP that is betraying everything it used to stand for.

If we hold our noses and vote for McCain, then we are abandoning our conservative prinicples. You have to be willing to stand up to your own party and tell them “ENOUGH!”

A vote for McCain is an endoremsement of his agenda, which will move the party closer to the left.

If it means 4 years of a Democrat in the White House, that is a smaller price to pay than losing my party forever.

If McCain wants my vote in November, he’s going to have to make a lot of changes to his message.

Illegal Immigration – I don’t trust anyone on that issue. I’m sorry, that issue is going to be won or lost with we the people. We have to do more, far more to convince lawmakers to enforce the border, and enforce current laws.

Some of you are giving up now, when there are still important things that we CAN influence if we stand and fight hard, and if there are enough of us fighting.

We have no one left to voice our concerns for us, so we MUST raise our own voices. Like we did on Immigration.

No matter WHO the nominee is, and no matter if you plan to vote or boycott him, the platform and legislators are too important to abandon to the “McCain” wing of the party.

First:

Argue and fight for CONSERVATIVE platform planks on IMMIGRATION, BORDER, TAXES, JUDGES.

And then there are the fights for CONSERVATIVE candidates at the local, and state, and congressional level.

And there is also the VP slot to force a trustworthy conservative in there, so we have someone that deserves conservative support in 2012 after the debacle this year.

Or are all you “I hate McCain” types so gutless as to walk away from that fight? You give up your principles that easily?

Have the courage of your convictions.

The time to lay the groundwork for the new conservative base of the GOP in 2012 is NOW. Just like Reagan in 1976 set things up for 1980. He didnt quit. And yet many of you are quitting.

Irish Rose is right. I have had the same initial reaction of revulsion to a McCain candidacy as MM (whom I do greatly admire) and so many other committed Conservatives. I think McCain-Feingold has been a disaster (albeit one the Supreme Court may yet dismantle, God willing).
