Resurrection: House Dems to bring back shamnesty?
Apparently, there is a new draft shamnesty bill in the works. Question: What will Johnny “I was for amnesty before I was against it, but I’m not really against it, because if it comes to my desk, I would sign it, but since it won’t come to my desk, well, just calm down, change the sbuject, and look at all my conservative endorsements!” Mac do? From Roll Call with a hat tip to Brian Faughnan:
House Democrats are crafting scaled-down immigration reform legislation despite the political minefields that surround the issue, with Hispanic Members seeking five-year visas for illegal immigrants who pay fines and pass criminal background checks.
Because we all know how effective the background check process has been…
More:
Baca said the prospects for a compromise package were discussed in high-level meetings that included Speaker Nancy Pelosi, Democratic Caucus Chairman Rahm Emanuel, and Rep. Zoe Lofgren, who chairs a key immigration subcommittee, Roll Call said.
The paper added: “It’s unclear if the behind-the-scenes discussions will actually result in a bill coming to the floor, but Democrats say drafts of legislation already have been written and are being vetted behind the scenes.”
Vigilance, fellow dyspeptics, vigilance.

Oldguy,
Quickly as this is getting stale:
Must have been in context, and I don;t want to take the time to find out how. if you’re not staying home, good for you and my apologies. If you’re not staying home and voting third party, in essence casting a de facto vote for Hillary and Obama, then that’s where my impression came from, no apologies and you should be ashamed of yourself.
Or will vote third party, as that is the practically staying home for all the difference it will make.
Right!
Oh please, you started to make sense for a minute there. Look, this stuff is important, Old Guy. If anyone feels like they’re being beaten up they should walk through 125th street in Harlem at 2 AM singing “Old man River” sometime. This shrinking violet stuff is tough to stomach. politics is a tough business. When someone comes off as a smartass I deal with a smartass, and to hell with netiquette. Deal with it.
Sigh. Here we go again. I’ll say it dlowly… this is what you do: You try to make him win. You see to it that he does win. It’d D-Day. You don’t pee ijn your bunker, you get out on the beach. And those guys died doing the right thing. All you have to do is pull a lever and try to talk others into doing the same. Why? because if eveyone does that, he wins.
What, really, is there about self-defeatist attitude = certain loss that you just don’t quite get?
Actively support McCain?! No one finds it less atrtractive than I do, trust me. At the beginning of the primary I was as vocal against him as they get. But this is now. It’s over, for all practical purposes. We’re stuck with what we have. It’s encumbant on every patriot then to make sure McCain wins. WHY? because the alternative is worse. We don;t even have to discuss how much. Worse is bad enough.
Not stop whining about being “beat up” (!) for Ch*st sake. This country needs ballot-box soldiers, not shrinking violet sissies.
That’s not a truth it’s an opinion, and as patriotic opinions go, it stinks.
And I personally don;t care if you care. You make a statement. That statement may influence people, in a way which is harmful to our country. I offer a balance. You don’t like the style. Too F’ing bad. Politics is tough. Get used to it.
