spidgy, does “Brit car” offend as much as “Jap car”? Or if we rewind to c.1905, we could say “Nip car”…

The natural syllable break is after the “p”, and “Japanese” has the misfortune(?) to have a hard-stop sound as a syllable break. British has somewhat the same, excepting the “t” isn’t as hard a stop. We don’t use “Ital” or “Ger” car for the same reason.

The Military talks about “…the Brit units”, “Turk”, etc… but I’m sure that some underbrained overly sensitive goomball would – on behalf of the “poor Japanese” throw a tantrum. All the while, the native Japanese fellows would be wondering what the gaijin was making a fuss over.

oh, BTW, did I forget to mention that this REALLY HAPPENED, and it took a major intercession by the leader of the Japanese physician’s group to keep Col. PC from ruining his 2nd best surgeon’s career…

They claim they want diversity, but make it clear its diversity for them and not anyone else. Our city schools are in shambles, and yet they won’t give a non-black person the opportunity to be the school superentendent (sp?) because they won’t be able to relate to black kids.

With all the slurs, it makes it tough to turn the other cheek and not retaliate in kind. If I was a racist person, I would strongly consider joining the klan because their views are becoming more reasonable. If the nation of islam, the black panthers get a pass-whats the difference?

But alas; I answer to a higher authority and I don’t want to face Yeshua and have to explain that.

So I really do not think it wise to use this word (”reclaim”) considering the negative reaction that makes African Americans have to it.

IMHO.

For example, although you probably don’t agree with me on this, you seem pre-occupied with labeling, classifying, lecturing, and letting others on this blog know just how much contempt you have for some of them. Those are traits I see more often displayed by those with a liberal outlook, not conservative.

As a conservative, I respect your right to have opinions and to voice them. I have had vast experience with liberals in my life, and have found them to be much less tolerant, and much more ready to toss invectives.

Liberals are much more likely, on this blogsite, to end their comments with a belittling salutation or comment. Some of yours fit into this mold. For example:

I know about as much about your god as I do the easter bunny, santa, the Loch Ness monster, bigfoot, etc.

Okay, you’re an atheist. Be proud. You don’t have to explain your rationale. Or;

Yes, we get it. You have no faith. Fine. Why do you feel a need to belittle those who do? I don’t know which you hate more, organized religion, or those who belong to them.
This kind of oratory puts people on the defensive, and is not conducive to making friends.

A liberal, on the other hand, finds nothing wrong with this type of declaration, since it’s whole purpose is to convey superiority.

It is no reach for me to believe GOD created everything in 6 literal days. It is more of a reach to believe that there are billions of different DNA chains and they all formed without any help (by random chance) in a few billion years to give us the variety of life (or even just the variety of differences in humans) we see today. Just a simple study of DNA puts “random chance” where it belongs – in the toilet.
