Fight sharia: Celebrate Valentine’s Day; Update: Burn, baby, burn

By Michelle Malkin  •  February 14, 2008 06:40 AM

Update 11:24am: Fresh photos for the Valentine’s Jihad (via Snapped Shot). Call it heartburn:

***
Remember this photo from two years ago? First, they came for the cartoonists. Next, they came for Valentine’s Day:

burnvalentine.jpg Caption - An activist of the radical Kashmiri Islamic group, Dukhtaran-e-Millat, or daughters of the community, burns a Valentine card outside a card store in central Srinagar, India, Friday, Feb. 10, 2006. Nearly two dozen black-veiled Muslim women burned Valentine’s Day cards and posters showing couples together in the main city of India’s Kashmir protesting the day that they say imposes Western values on Muslim youth. (AP Photo)

Well, it’s Valentine’s Day once more–and the Religion of Perpetual Outrage is at it again. Around the world, Muslim leaders are working hard to stamp out deadly “Western values” spread by the holiday. Such as men and women hugging each other. This terrorism must be stopped!

In Indonesia:

The Bukittinggi municipal administration has banned residents from celebrating Valentine’s Day, on Thursday, on the grounds the occasion is not in line with Minangkabau traditions or Islam.

“The Valentine’s Day celebration is not our culture as it usually relates closely to immoral acts where, during the celebration, young couples tend to hug and even kiss each other. This is an immoral act, right?” Bukittinggi Deputy Mayor Ismet Amzis told The Jakarta Post on Wednesday.

A similar prohibition was implemented by the administration on cafes, restaurants, hotels and other tourist sites planning to hold Valentine’s Day celebrations.

The administration said it would enforce existing regional regulations on “immoral act eradication” and take companies that celebrated the day to court.

A number of permits already issued for Valentine’s Day activities have also been revoked.

Bukittinggi Mayor Djufri told a press conference earlier that his administration would shut down a number of tourist sites known to attract visitor’s on Valentine’s Day, including Jam Gadang, and some cafes.

Djufri urged parents in Bukittinggi not to let their sons and daughters go out Thursday night.

In order to replace Valentine Day’s parties, the Bukittinggi administration urged schools to drive their students to mosques or prayer rooms Thursday night to hear religious sermons “for the sake of improving their morality.”

In Saudi Arabia:

Saudi Arabia’s religious police have banned red roses ahead of Valentine’s Day, forcing couples in the conservative Muslim nation to think of new ways to show their love.

The Commission for the Promotion of Virtue and Prevention of Vice has ordered florists and gift shop owners in the capital Riyadh to remove any items colored scarlet, which is widely seen as symbolizing love, newspapers said.

“They visited us last night,” the Saudi Gazette quoted an unidentified florist as saying.

It is not unusual for the Saudi vice squad to clamp down ahead of Valentine’s Day, which it sees as encouraging relations between men and women outside of wedlock, the newspaper said.

And in Kuwait:

Islamist MPs said yesterday they will study the possibility of amending existing laws in a bid to ban the celebrations of “alien events” like the Valentine’s Day. Head of the Assembly committee monitoring practices alien to Kuwaiti society MP Waleed Al-Tabtabae said after the committee met government authorities that “we informed them we will come up with the necessary amendment”.

The committee met with representatives from the ministries of interior, information and commerce and industry to study measures necessary to prevent Valentine’s Day celebrations that contradict Islamic teachings and values. He said the ministries promised to take all measures necessary to prevent any indecent celebrations and practices and any immoral behaviors that may happen on Valentine’s Day today. The measures will include monitoring hotels, restaurants and shops that sell Valentine’s Day items to make sure there are no violations of the law.

Tabtabae however said that the representatives told MPs that there are some legal loopholes and “we told them we will study proposing amendments” to ban such alien celebrations. Committee rapporteur MP Jamaan Al-Harbash said the proposed amendment will ban all practices that violate Islamic sharia law which includes marking Valentine’s Day.

A number of Islamist MPs meanwhile described Valentine’s Day as a Western tradition that is not compatible with Kuwaiti values and contradicts sharia. Some of them however said they were particular about the immoral practices and the concept of the celebrations which encourages out-of-wedlock relationships. The head of the Islamic Sharia College at Kuwait University, Mohammad Al-Tabtabae, issued a fatwa stipulating that the feast is banned under Islam.

If you are one of those people who always passed on Valentine’s Day because it was too tacky or over-commercialized, you now have good reason to celebrate.

Buy some red roses, candy, and a cheesy greeting card: Strike a blow against sharia.

Freedom is sweet. Savor it.

I would love to see Islam carry through on this in full depth. It would mean the end of Islam once and for all.

One of the roots of the Valentine’s day tradition is the actions of Saint Valentine of Rome. The emperor of Rome had actually banned marriages, including annulling existing marriages according to this article, because he was having trouble recruiting soldiers. Saint Valentine refused to obey the decree and continued marrying couples. When Claudius discovered this, he had Valentine put to death. According to tradition, while he was imprisoned prior to his execution, he sent love notes to those he cared about.

In short, Valentine’s day is a celebration of marriage. So go ahead you followers of an evil “religion”, ban marriage (and sex and children) because marriage is not “part of your tradition!” The world doesn’t need any more children brainwashed by your evil!

This Valentine’s Day grab a box of tissues, put some Air Supply on the stereo, pour a glass of chardonnay and enjoy some heartwarming passages from Ayatollah Khomeini’s Religious Teachings on Marriage, Divorce and Relationships:

A man can marry a girl younger than nine years of age, even if the girl is still a baby being breastfed.

A man, however is prohibited from having intercourse with a girl younger than nine, other sexual act such as forplay, rubbing, kissing and sodomy is allowed.

A man having intercourse with a girl younger than nine years of age has not comitted a crime, but only an infraction, if the girl is not permanently damaged.

A marriage is annulled if a man finds that his wife is afflicted with one of the seven following disabilities: madness, leprosy, eczema, blindness, paralysis with aftereffects, malformation of the urinary and genital tracts or of the genital-tract and rectum through conjoining thereof, or vaginal malformation making Coitus impossible.
Note: It’s wise to avoid the phrase “’til death do us part” when taking Muslim vows.

A Moslem woman may not marry a non-Moslem man; nor may a Moslem man marry a non-Moslem woman in continuing marriage, but he may take a Jewish or Christian woman in temporary marriage.

    Allahu Akbar!

Thanks. Great to know I could be in a “temporary marriage” (read: sex slave).

And, remind me again, why our liberal friends insist that all cultures and religions are equal and one is just as good as the next.

When I took my marriage vows, we pledge to love one another in sickness and health, forsaking all others, until parted by natural death. I vowed to be “obedient” to him as the Church is to Christ, and he vowed to love me as himself and as Christ loves the Church and sacrificed Himself for Her.

I couldn’t imagine anyone loving me with the same devotion as my husband. I know there are other men of different faiths who are also fabulous husbands.

You cannot, however, read stuff like this and blindly spout the rhetoric that “all religions are the same” and “all cultures are equally good”. That’s a lie.

Happy St. Valentine’s Day to all of you. May you know true love!

A spirit descended, down from the sky
And this was the beauty I held in mine eye
For travelers afar in this disquieting time
One voice knew reason from rhyme,

    And her name was Michelle.

In a troubled world as the storm raged and grew
A need in our soul resounded anew
A blackness was cast and pitted the land
But one reached out her hand,

    And her name was Michelle.

    ***********

Hard was the clanking toil of trouble
Swift was the vengeance that grew
Mean was the voice of the vociferous rabble
Tough meant a new day in view.

Cold was the day when grown men quailed
Fine was the blade that cut
Evil was the enemy who came from without
    Violence was what they sought.

    ***********

An empty time, no truth in view
So where is the truth, I ask of you
An empty time, no truth revealed
    Except one voice unsealed,

    And her name was Michelle.

By dusk of the day, we came to seek light
The media provides, the media blight
Provides us with pablum as the masses require
But we had one who aimed higher,

    And her name was Michelle.

    ***********

Hard was the clanking toil of trouble
Swift was the vengeance that grew
Mean was the voice of the vociferous rabble

A butterfly sings, a distant land
A prelude, a brief pause to rest
Hard are the times to come for sure
Hard are the times at best.

By dusk of the day, we offer our thanks
To she who is most in our heart
By dusk of the day, we vow to fight on
We’re proud to act as a part.

    And her name was Michelle.

blockquote>It is not unusual for the Saudi vice squad to clamp down ahead of Valentine’s Day, which it sees as encouraging relations between men and women outside of wedlock,

This suggests that they truly simply may not understand western culture at all. Roses to a girl, holding hands, a simple card; these manifestations of old fashioned values which harken back to times like the 40’s and 50’s, when out-of-wedlock births and men running out on the women were regarded as truly shameful. Whether they should be today is for each person to decide. But in a time when honor has been shoveled under for short-term pleasure and gratification, and chastity is only a name, giving roses, holding hands and innocent ways of expressing oneself should be embraced.

For all their dish TVs with which to monitor our culture, they still haven’t a clue what’s at the heart of it.

Many, many years ago I dated a Tree Hugging Hippie Chick. Two days before St. Valentines Day I caught her cheating on me. I was furious and decided to get revenge. So on Valentines Day I packed up my things, put the dog in the truck and before leaving I carved a heart with our initials in it on a large oak tree in the front yard.
You could have fried an egg on her forehead she was so mad. It was one of the best Valentines Days I ever had.

Had wondered about that… kinda’ a subliminal message there… like the difference between “Merry Christmas” and “Happy Holidays” eh?

Is it a secular holiday celebrating chocolate that the islamo-bastids hate, or just plain old Christianity?

Just after 9/11 we were reassured that the word “islam” means “love” or “peace” or something.

It actually means “submission” - as in, submit to the abusive and oppressive laws of Islam and you might be lucky enough to live until a homicide bomber blows up your marketplace.

But, as we all know, the following are forbidden under Islam:

    - converting to another religion
    - expressing another religious faith publicly
    - going out in public uncovered (read: any skin showing)
    - celebrating “Western” holidays
    - depicting Mohammed
    - pointing out that Islam is violent
    - driving (if you’re a woman)
    - voting (if you’re a woman)
    - seeing a doctor (if you’re a woman)
    - working (if you’re a woman)
    - selling ice or falafel
    - wearing nail polish
    - being homosexual
    - being with a member of the opposite sex
    - refusing an arranged marriage
    - getting divorced from an abusive husband (if you’re a woman)

and the list could go on.

The “beauty” of shari’a law is that it’s relative (just like liberals think morals are relative). Shari’a law is selectively applied.

Which is why it’s wrong to celebrate St. Valentine’s Day, but perfectly okay for someone to “marry” an infant and have sex with a 9-year-old girl.

The guy who runs Cowardly political musings “mycowardice” is a full-on moonbat (parrots whatever the latest progressive/liberal/moonbat talking points are) and is reality challenged. He linked to this article (he gets some points for that)but studiously ignores anything that won’t conform to what he wants to see (loses lots of points for that).

    Thank You A.J, cpodug,

I hope, I don’t have to do a Salman Rushdie :) A thousand pardons for being born a woman, oh men of the tent in the desert. absurd thought -
    God of the Universe says
    outlaw Valentine’s Day

    confiscate ALL red roses
    keep men and women apart

    absurd thought -
    God of the Universe says
    arrest men and women

    if they are holding hands
    or having coffee together

    God of the Universe says
    Valentine’s Day is evil

    it just reminds the people
    about Christianity
