Jane Fonda said what on national morning TV?

By Michelle Malkin  •  February 14, 2008 09:59 AM

The woman has no class. You already knew that. But here’s more confirmation. Another reason not to let your children watch TV in the morning.

Of course there are things that are inherently wrong. But I think they’re pretty few and far between. And there are degrees of right and wrong too. Saying that word on television, even in context, is wrong. But that doesn’t make it a big deal.

If we’re going to get in a debate of right and wrong, save it for abortion, capital punishment, war, etc. The stakes are much higher and there are much more compelling arguments. This is as low-stake as you can get.

Bingo. There are silly people, cities, threads…

You had a question for me and I had one for you. That was all. The common thread - they were both silly.

I can no more get worked up about Jane saying the cu_t word (as you can tell in my post at #12) than I can about Cheney telling someone to get bent (I made fun of that too).

I was in high school in the late 60s.

I remember the argument being put forth in discussions on Vietnam in history class, and by national “experts”; that we were stuck in the middle of a civil war (sound familiar?), because we had inherited the problem from the French; that the conflict was nothing more than that.
There may very well have been a component of that, but it was obvious to all, except for rocks and our American socialists/”progressives”/useful idiots, that the Communists, both the Russians and the Chinese, were happily trying to extend their influence in the world by establishing yet another Communist state; and took full advantage of our weakness of resolve that Jane Fonda and her ilk were only too eager to create and promote.

The more such folks say, the more they prove my point about the unbridgable “worldview divide”.
You will never convince them in an argument of right and wrong, or good and bad, because such things do not exist in their worldview.
It is as if they use a language that superficially appears to be “English”, but that differs radically and completely in grammar, in syntax, in parts of speech, in definitions and connotations of words, and in figures of speech.
In other words, they will never understand.

Not sure why there is so much nuance here. There is no context where the c-word, f-word or s-word should be spoken on American daytime television. Ever. ESPECIALLY on a mainstream network program.

Where’s the FCC on this? Is Fonda (and those like her) immune to the rules? Viera (sp?) just sat there watching it happen. This is sad.

Very likely just another example of the salami tactics employed by the left/secular “progressive” worldview.

Not sure who coined the term “salami tactics”; but, I ran across it some years ago, and it made perfect sense…in the same way as the saying (?paraphrased?), “The cut loaf does not miss a slice.”

And, in the same way as the “How to boil a frog” instructions say to NOT put the frog into a kettle of boiling water, because it will merely jump out; rather, put the frog into room temperature water, and then slowly increase the water temperature to boiling. Bt the time the frog senses something is wrong, it is too late.

Hmmm…”by the time…it is too late” could be a metaphor for the left’s tactics of the past 40+ years. (I am by no means anywhere near the first to notice this and to point it out.)
Can anyone imagine that such an utterance on national TV would not have been a career-killer back then, even in the dreadful 60s?

I wasn’t around then, but I can tell you that I’m increasingly disappointed about what’s on tv, radio, movies. I’m no fuddy duddy, but it’s pretty sad when you can’t turn on a morning tv show or radio show for fear that someone will be discussing something very inappropriate for kids.

    I agree with you.

Our three kids are in their 20s now (and, yep, they grow fast! - one day they’re just getting out of diapers…then, when you turn around, they’re just getting out of high school…or college…or grad school!), and my wife and I don’t remember having to keep an eye on daytime, 7pm, 8pm, heck, even 10pm “offerings” to make sure they would not be exposed to stuff that was inappropriate for them.

Your comments illustrate why I’ve said before that I am tired of hearing the “just live and let live” or “just change the channel” horse manure lines of the leftists/secularists.

The fact is, they do NOT let us live.
And, you can’t avoid the filth just by changing the channel.

Your post correctly points that out.

Our popular so-called “culture” is not a values-neutral, “tune-outtable” thing that is just harmlessly hanging around, just for those who seek it.

It is, rather, an all-surrounding, pervasive sickness that permeates seemingly all of society, and that thrusts itself upon our kids (unless one lives under a rock, or in Antarctica away from a research station); and that not only fails to help us raise our kids, but actively fights against us.

    navywife91, stick to your guns.

100% agree. That being said, I could not get worked up about either one. I didn’t get worked up about Cheney shooting someone by accident. If you bird hunt for too long, you will get hit. I know, I have been hit, my son-in-law has been hit and so has his dad - just to name a few.

Now, arresting our President or VP (Cheney being the link between your question and mine) on home soil, I can get worked up about that. Talk about making our enemies happy.

To have a gaggle of so-called “Feminists” sitting around on a morning TV talk show and to just blurp out that repugnant word while Jr. and Sissy are eating their Alpha Bits and getting ready for school is just beyond the pale.

If they don’t get fined beyond recognition by the FCC then you know for sure that there most definately is bias when it comes to certain shows and subjects and hosts.
