How do you say “coward” in Norwegian?
Reader Sylvia sent me this photo that ran in Norway’s leading newspaper, Aftenposten. The headline? Norwegian press won’t touch “Mohammad” cartoons. Check out the pixelated Mo cartoons. Yes, they pixelated the cartoons as if they were porn.
Ridiculous, right? Reminds me of…the American media. Remember when CNN and the Dallas Morning News did the same thing? I do!
Nothing adds fuel to the fire of the Cartoon Rage like the worldwide media’s Cartoon Dhimmitude.

RedBlueAmerica.com has a package on Danish cartoonist Kurt Westergaard.
Lawhawk takes note of the NYT taking a pass. As expected.
An e-mail from a reader on the other side of the political aisle, but on the same side as the Danes and the Sammenhold coalition:
Hi Ms. Malkin,
First let me say that I am an Obama supporter with liberal/libertarian views on many issues, so I suspect we would disagree on more issues than we would agree. I do want to let you know, however, that you deserve a lot of credit for your efforts in promoting solidarity with Denmark and the Danish newspapers publishing the muhammed cartoons. I am no fan of our current president, but I remember when the cartoon controversy first erupted, I thought to myself, “Well, perhaps Bush and I will be on the same page for once.” Instead he disappointed me again by responding with a weak-kneed and tepid call to respect the religions of others. I expect many on the Democratic side of the aisle would have responded similarly.
In my opinion, no true liberal would ever call for tolerance of a religion in such opposition to free speech, women’s rights, and freedom of and from religion, and in such support of mindless violence. When those cartoons were first published, I wish every American newspaper had reprinted them, and that our president had taken a much firmer stance in support of free speech. If I had owned a Danish flag, it would have flown from my house for that period of time.
So again, I disagree with a lot of what you say, but encourage you to keep up the good work on this issue. You seem to be the strongest voice for this right now. Thanks for keeping it alive.

I keep looking for one of your headlines to give me a modicum of hope that the world isn’t going to shi’ite.
It has been a bummer of a week.
Reminds me of the southpark episode spoofing family guy showing Mohammad. What a bunch of cowards.
I included the Muhammad cartoon in a post on a forum for people interested in firearms and the moderators deleted it…. Sigh. Cowards are everywhere.
Here’s how to say Coward in Norwegian:
NorwCOWARDegian
Well Google doesn’t translate to Norwegian, but it does translate to Dutch. So if you hear a Dutch person calling a Norwegian “Laf”, have a laugh of your own.
Norweeniegian?
I think “Democrat” is Universal for coward?
Coward in Norweigian- Feiging
Print the cartoons everyday until the Muslims stop whining and threatening. Ridicule is the finest form of punishment short of beheading.
Imagine. I used to think of the Norwegians as Viking heros. I must have it wrong.
Norway’s leading newspaper, Aftenposten said:
…but not here! Norway’s lack of courage is very disappointing. They were once a very brave people.
Docflash beat me to it … lol
The word for coward in Norwegian is Norway.
Another word to use for Norwegian cowards is a word they all understand….Quisling. That word will bite deeper than “coward”.
I like Matt’s letter a lot. I’m more liberal in my social (not economic/military) views that the majority of people here so I don’t always agree with everyone but like Matt said, there are some things that should transcend politics. This is one of them and Michelle has been at the forefront. Between this cartoon BS and Ayaan Hirsi Ali begging the French to protect her, it’s been a really discouraging week.
Uff da!
Coward = “kujonen”
Take your pick. I like feiging and stymper.
kujonen, feiging, kujon, feigingen, reddhare, stymper, reddharen, stymperen
Ya gotta love the Danes. They, even being the smallest of the Scandinavian countries (and one of the smallest in all of Europe), have a boatload of guts. They rescued most of their Jews in WWII, their king even wearing a star. They continue to rebuff the EU and now they refuse to back down to the Jihadists. Living there was one of the greatest adventures and pleasures of my life.
Artig nemlig Danmark!
While the Danes have lots to be proud of during World War Two – lots – King Christian the Tenth never wore a star of any sort. Tis a myth, but a good one that does relate to their character.
With all due respect to Matt from Durham, (nice letter and all)he says he is am Obama supporter followed by “In my opinion, no true liberal would ever call for tolerance of a religion in such opposition to free speech, women’s rights, and freedom of and from religion, and in such support of mindless violence.”
Some one remind us please which Madrasa (sp?) it was that Obama attended… I can’t recall.
Norcrapwegian
C-O-W, -A-R-D!
I’m speaking slowly and loudly so they will understand me because I don’t speak idiot.
Obama is not a Muslim.
Norway—wouldn’t you think that the country with the third largest oil supply would have the same set of b _ _ _ s as little Denmark?
#22 having a friend that knew him I ?????????????????????your remark!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
Signed:
No longer a GOOD little Christian Girl:
Rather a red blooded patriot with LOTS of Danish BLOOD!!!!!
Didn’t Michelle herself say that Obama wasn’t a Muslim? Do you question her as well?
Mookie, that is pathetic… Obama attended a madrasa. Fact. So he is tolerant of Islam, has he denounced it?
It is not the Madam Hostess I question, it is Matt from Durham.
What is pathetic? Obama is a Christian. He’s not a Muslim. He has said as such numerous times.
Øbåmå?
It appears the feared Norsemen that would go a Viking raiding all of Europe have lost or breed out every bit of intestinal fortitude they once had.
No, what is pathetic is… “Didn’t Michelle herself say that Obama wasn’t a Muslim? Do you question her as well?”
I really don’t know is she did or didn’t… nor did I ever say he was a Muslim, only that he attended a madrasa…
You know, as a Christian I have no affinity for Mohammad, and offending terrorists is of zero concern to me personally. Also, I know that most cartoons are relatively mild in terms of being outrage-inducing, so I wouldn’t compare it to “piss christ” by any stretch. Yet I can’t help but thinking that mocking the religion as opposed to the terrorists is somewhat tainted ethically. On balance, if I was at the paper, I’d probably have pixelated the cartoons too, just because there is no point, in mt mind, in allowing the media to be quite so casually offending to any religion – as christians, we know how it’s the endless little offenses that really get on people’s nerves.
Certainly, there are legitemate socio-political issues which can be emphasized by bringing Mohammad into the land of satire. And what the picture in the paper was meant to illustrate is probably at the core of whether the pixilation was appropriate or not. And finally I would never edit anything for fear of the cowardly acts of murderous terrorists – they get far too much respect even when they’re being hunted, in my opinion, and we should do nothing to give them the impression that they’re behavior earns any fear or respect from us. But just the same, on balance, in the aggregate, a bit more respect to those who have strong personal feelings about Mohammad as is shown by the paper – respect to those people who don’t go around blowing things and people up – might be the slightly better Christian thing to do when it comes to erring on the side of – polite – caution.
Norway has gone downhill considerably since Edvard Grieg cancelled his concerts in France in protest of the Dreyfus travesty.
Mookie’s right. The madrassa allegation was a Clinton hit job.
While Obama professes to be a Christian, his minister/mentor is a fringe wingnut who has lavished praise on Louis Farrakha.
graysonret #13
You got it exactly – Quisling. That’s the very first word that came to my mind.
I wonder how many people today even know who Quisling was?
“but an aide said it was not a madrassa”
Oh, that’s different! Never mind, my bad, an aide said… did the aide say his middle name is really John?
But you’re not saying he’s a Muslim, right?
“In my opinion, no true liberal would ever call for tolerance of a religion in such opposition to free speech, women’s rights, and freedom of and from religion, and in such support of mindless violence.”
Right, I’m saying he is TOLERANT.
Same as in any language. “Liberal”
Mookie @ #35,
Why don’t you ask the Muslims themselves. They seem to be of the opinon that once a Muslim, always a Muslim. Furthermore, joining their faith doesn’t have to be voluntary. For example, being born into a Muslim household, or having a Muslim head of household is enough.
Another popular method of claiming people for the faith is to rape and/or marry infidel girls. By marrying Obama’s stepfather, his mother autmatically became Muslim in the eyes of the jihadiis.
Another example, remember Steve Centani, the kidnapped FOX journalist? Wonder why he won’t step foot near a Muslim country again? By rights under Sharia, anyone can execute him for apostasy. So naturally, when the Archbishop Dingaling of England said that Sharia would be inevitable, so Brits might as well lie back and enjoy it, that was sure to send a chill down Centanni’s neck in that he might not even be safe in London next time.
So naturally, while Obama claims to be a christian, he has yet to renounce Islam in uncertain terms. Platitudes about different religions needing to just get a long might work over here for the gullible, but to the Muslim Street, they either hear an apostate that needs to be taken out, or a fellow warrior lying his way to the top of the greatest nation in the world. Either scenario is not good.
Then you have reports of Obama taking phone calls and consulting with the Islamist leader of Kenya, and his oft-repeated assertion that various Islamists just need dialogue. Yeah, I’m concerned.
Before you get your undies tied up in a wad, understand this. To the Islamists, it matters not one whit what infidels like you and me think! It only matters what they believe is to be done with us, by hook or crook. So, I repeat, to answer your question, go and ask the Imams in Saudi & Iran
Matt: Thank you for the voice of reason from the other side of the aisle.
Outstanding Andy. Simply outstanding.
Next up on the list, everyone in England, France, Norway, etc., all are to dress like Moslems. This is to prevent the real Moslems from being offended by Western dress and, also, so the real Moslems don’t stand out and be feel persecuted. However, all Christians will be required to wear a paper cross on their clothes.
Why should he have to renounce Islam? By proclaiming himself a Christian hasn’t he earned the apostate label (and a death sentence)?
Frankly, I’m more concerned about Obama’s relationship with the pseudo-Christian, Rev. Jeremiah A. Wright, Jr. Wright’s words and actions verge on a black mirror to the Church of Jesus Christ Christian.
Here’s the skinny on Obama and Islam.
http://www.snopes.com/politics/obama/muslim.asp
Not that Snopes can’t occasionally be wrong, or that they’re bias free. I’m just sayin’ that typically Snopes is pretty accurate.
While the Snopes story pretty much proves that Obama is not, in fact, Muslim, and has never been a practicing Muslim, that doesn’t discount that members of the Islam world could think of him as an Apostate. I didn’t realize that he would and has said the Pledge of Alliegence (my bad for any of my previous posts to the contrary).
However, the story doesn’t mention Obama’s attitude toward Islam, which is the same as every other Liberal attitude toward Islam, which is that it’s the “Religion of Peace” and “we should be tolerant.”
So, in effect, it doesn’t really matter whether he’s Islamic or not, since he would certainly be, by reason of his liberal beliefs, a member of the ’surrender’ crowd.
I’m embarrassed to say I’m 1/2 Norwegian…no Viking blood left in Norway it appears. Bunch of whimps…if one does not have the strength and courage to fight for what it takes to be free they deserve no better.
I guess Europe has only taken half a century to forget about what Hitler did to them. They appeased the socialist maniac Hitler and look what it got them. The Norweigians should understand that more than most. Unfortunately, the ones that know are dead or very old. So the young learn that socialism and sharia law are good.
If the Norweigians had any brains, they’d show the world they stand in defiance of islam. Then they might become the world’s largest exporter of oil! Mostly because the countries that embrace freedom instead of socialism or islam would flock to the Norweigians for their oil.
Wouldn’t it be nice to not have to deal with the jihadis so you can have a normal standard of living?
TexasTiger @ #42
Because he’s straddling the fence as it were. From the Muslim Street perspective, saying he’s a christian can be construed as either being a “trojan horse”, or ignorant and unclear on Islamic doctrine. Renouncing it would make him a definitive apostate.
And I agree, being a faithful follower of J. Wright is just Black Power dressed up in christian rhetoric.
Bottomline, as MrVibeman noted, Obama’s liberal attitude towards Islam will get us killed.
The Danes are sending MORE soldiers to Afghanistan—
The VIKING spirit is not dead-it’s just not being reported.
LiveLeak.com/Danish soldiers in Afghanistan.
Gosh- they are handsome.
Why should he renounce Islam? Because he is trying ot become the President of the United States while we are at war with islam. Say what you will about who and what we are at war with, but the fact is, that is exactly what and who we are at war with. To not do so, to “straddle the fence” and be on both sides simply shows weakness and does not give anyone a sense that he knows what he is doing or understands what is truly at stake. With the name he has, the past he has, whether they are rumors or truth, it would be in his best interest to fully renounce it and be done with it. the longer he refuses to do so, the more credence he gives to the “rumor” that he is, indeed, nothing more than a closeted Muslim that will come clean as soon as he takes the oath of office, giving this country it;s first Islamic President.
In spite of the spew on this thread, I wish to say something to the younger generation of readers.
Not long ago in the west, political cartoons were expected to be critical, lampooning and offensive. That has been the historical norm for centuries.
The weak response of our politicians, most media outlets and public to the Danish cartoon controversy is appalling! We are losing our freedom of expression quickly over this! The precedent will be set, now, that “cartoonists should be culturally sensitive”. Yeah, riight! Towards terrorist!
I say, insult our warring enemy mercilessly.
