Impeachment Watch: Still going
Denny K has hung up his impeachment noose, but the BDS crowd continues to ride its hobby horse hard into the ground. Boulder is attempting to pass an impeachment resolution, but probably won’t be able to muster enough votes next Tuesday. But Victoria Taft reports that the moonbat enclave of Cannon Beach, Oregon succeeded in passing its own resolution:
In a split vote on Super Tuesday, during the regular meeting of the Cannon Beach City Council, a resolution was passed to impeach President George Bush and Vice President Dick Cheney.
The call for impeachment began with the last wishes of Cannon Beach resident Gainor Minott, who asked Rex and Diane Amos to pursue an impeachment of the president and the vice president. The Amoses collected 227 signatures from residents of Cannon Beach to present to the council in support of a call for impeachment. Minott died in September.
The council heard comments from 16 people on the matter: eight people asking for an approval and eight people urging the council to drop the matter.
Rex Amos was one of those who spoke to the council, and during his presentation, he asked members to pass the resolution unanimously in the spirit of Minott and to honor her name. The resolution passed 3-2; council president Jay Raskin, council member Jerome Arnold and council member Sam Steidel voted to pass the resolution while Mayor John Williams and council member Nancy Giasson voted against.
“I really appreciate our council for doing this,” said Rex Amos. “It was a real study in democracy. That’s the way it should be, done with passion and civility on both sides.”
The resolution marks an unusual step by a city council, and it is believed that Cannon Beach is the first city in the state of Oregon to call for the impeachment of the United States government’s leader and second in command.
Wonder how many of them were wearing Chavista berets?

One more comment….I have a friend whose daughter has Polly Romberg’s disease. It is a rare form of scleroderma in which the right side of her face will deteriorate in the next 8 yrs.
She is nine.
She has already begun to show signs of this deterioration in her jawbone and skull.
Did I mention this little girl has also suffered from cancer since she was 18 mos. old??
The medical bills are mounting high, so my husband and I ran a marathon in Jan. and used it as a fundraiser for this family. So far, $3,000 has been raised to help pay off medical bills.
And the mother has thyroid cancer as well and begins her treatment later this month.
Now…..after reading all this….can you see how silly this Impeachment crap is in lite of what this family is going through??
But they are Christians and rely on God and not government to help them.

I guess this kind of begs the question – if cities all over the country are trying to impeach Bush, when do they have time to take care of local problems? Or is it that governments have swapped sides – the Federal government will take care of all the local problems, freeing up the local government to set national and international policy?
These clowns remind me of the atmosphere in the fall of 1969 (I believe it was), when there was held the anti-Vietnam “moratorium”.
I was a senior in high school.
Nobody gave a flying **** about the best way to stabilize the world situation or about assuring the safety of Americans.
For us students, this was an event, a “happening”, a “scene”, a “be-in”, something to do, a chance to get let out of some class time, a chance to poke the grownups in the eye, a chance to give the finger to the “establishment”.
These adolescents in these city councils passing these silly, outrageous resolutions are nothing more than boneheads with arrested development, who still think they’re on their high school’s student council.
I live in Oregon and so shall not be visitin Cannon Beach if I ever were to take a vacation. They can live without my good money. Do these morons even realize, President Bush will be leaving office in less than a year. Sheesh, what buffoons. Get a life, freaks.
You would think they have more pressing issues to deal with, fools all of them fools.

Passing a resolution in someone’s name? Yea, that’s real democracy. These people need to join up with S.F. and Berkeley and live in a tree.
Right, Blind_Mule. Even if an impeachment process starts, GW will out of office anyway, by the time the impeachment is passed and the trial begins. Just more “touchy-feely” feelgoodism by liberals, pounding their chests saying, “We doing something.” The trouble is, like the illiterate masses in the Middle East, there will be people cheering. And more kids are killed in schools.
The citizens in these cities and towns who disagree with their local elected officials wasting their time on these useless issues ( they have no teeth – they are ‘feel-good’ politics ) – need to start going to these meetings and ripping these arrogant liberals new ones and tell them to mind to local business like they were elected to do.
The taxpayers should be offended by these local idiots’ waste of funds.

Until the House decides to press for impeachment they can issue all the useless resolutions they want. The only thing they will succeed in accomplishing is showing how out of touch with reality they and their community are.
We will be vacationing in Oregon in May to enjoy the ocean view, but we will make it a point to not contribute one cent to the economy of Cannon Beach, OR.

I confess. I only posted this because the guy’s name is Oxwang. I think the Oxwangs moved up to Cannon Beach from South Park where they were neighbors of the Bigfloppydonkeyd!cks.
I grew up in Portland. Cannon Beach is about 1 1/2 hours west on HWY26 if I remember correctly. South of Netart’s bay a little bit. Spent a few youthful summers there myself, but the politics and personalities have even driven away some locals. The Minott name has a lot of history in the area. Founding fathers sort of thing. There was a HUGE racial flap there during the late 60’s or early 70’s, and it is still a VERY racist town. Worst I have ever seen.

Is anyone really paying attention? Does anyone care about these people?
If you think waterboarding is illegal (the courts have said so and most Americans believe it) and if you think Bush personally approved waterboarding (there’s good reason to think so), then you think Bush is a classic felon. The penalty for such a crime is impeachment.
Lying under oath about a consensual sex act is far less serious. Yes it is a crime, but it is less serious — nobody got hurt.

That’s a sobering and powerful story, Ruth, and you’re right to put it here for perspective. Let it also be a reminder of the suffering out there, and more specifically how it will dealt with, if Hillary or Obama win the White House due to Republican apathy or “ideology” (though admittedly, common sense is taking root again fast and it doesn;t look like any hard-right movement from inside the party to sit out the election or vote third-party is going to have legs). Also, big kudos for being on the front line and having that drive to raise money. That’s the American spirit as Reagan knew it!
As far as impeachment, these angry people who think they will do anything but play games with themselves are delusional, of course. However, once again, these types can drive politics, and on the left they drive the politicians beyond all reason. In the fall, let’s not immitate their bad example by engaging in any action that would allow either Hillary or Obama to become president of the United States.

The Oregonian’s archives only go back to 1987 so I won’t find anything there. There used to be another local paper called The community press, but I hav’nt found any thing there either . . . yet. I did find some census information over at Wikipedia. The 2000 census reports that 92.57% of their population was white, and 0.88% African American. I will not be surprised to see those pecentages stay close to the same for the next census.
And failing at staying alive. Uh, uh, uh, uh stayin’ alive.

We are not seeing the big picture for the trash in the way. What these liberals are doing on the local scale is setting a precident. Shuld Billery or Obama get into office. They are huge supporters of the world court.
If they succeed and they more then likely would with the support of nancy Pelooza and the ilk. Is to subjegate this country to the world court. After dsoing this then they can move foward into the socialist realm and prosecute not only Bush and the administration but go after every man and woman who wore the uniform in this battle against radical islamofacism.
Also look at the antigun movement that the dems support and the MSm is not covering. Several months back or maybe it was last year . The Unirtwed Nations pushed and is still supporting and trying to get signed world wide is a ban on handguns. This is another direct attack against the soveriegnty of this nation and the Constitution.
In the world court it only takes one liberal ACLU lawyer to bring forth the absurd charges.
Think about the end run that is being played out. Lack of Democrat interest in protecting this nation , i.e. FISA, non support for the troops. Behind the scenes cackleing on impeachment.

I used to vacation in Cannon Beach. It’s a great little weekend getaway.
Not any more. I’m happy to hit this little town council where it hurts: tax revenue from tourists.
There’s a great little town a few miles away called SeaSide. I’m sure they’ll be happy to have my business.

Long beach is much quieter. Just a little further north into Washington state. They have a sales tax there, but it is much more relaxed
Seaside’s ethnic diversity is even worse than Cannon beach’s. According to the census records any way.
Must be nice to live somewhere where there is so little crime, the schools must be great and there’s absolutely nothing going on for them to bring out this.
Except for the crime of being predominantly liberal / progressive. Which pretty much blows away the good schools thing too. OOPS!

Should McAmnesty actually win the White House we can expect to hear further calls for Impeachment due to John McCain not having been born in the United States.
