As most of us know, there is an oddity that drives the Liberal Proponents of Guilt and Shame to frenzied hate and pitiful rhetoric filled with platitudes, bumper sticker sloganeering and utter contempt for those which do not comply or adhere to the L…..

That “temporary” 3/4% income tax has been around since 1982. It’s on top of a permanent 1.5% income tax.

Of course, every four years or so the city whines about needing the money to keep the cops, fire department, garbage pickup, etc. going rather than taking steps to wean themselves off dependence on the money.

When I actually lived in the city I voted against it every time it came up but the scare tactics always made sure about 70-80% of the people voted yes. When I lived in the suburbs outside Lucas County I still had to pay it because I worked in the city and there’s no reimbursement for nonresidents that covers the extra 0.75 percent.

By the way, if they put together an effort to recall Carty this summer, I believe this would be attempt number 4. Otherwise, Toledo is stuck with him through 2009.

I originally hail from just an hour south of Toledo. There are some smart people there. I sure hope they do the right thing and vote this down, for their own sake.
