Barack Obama: Soul-fixer

By Michelle Malkin  •  February 16, 2008 12:43 PM

Michelle Obama wants you to vote for Barack Obama because she thinks what America needs is a healer-in-chief. Via transcription from Ed Morrissey:

We have lost the understanding that in a democracy, we have a mutual obligation to one another — that we cannot measure the greatness of our society by the strongest and richest of us, but we have to measure our greatness by the least of these. That we have to compromise and sacrifice for one another in order to get things done. That is why I am here, because Barack Obama is the only person in this who understands that. That before we can work on the problems, we have to fix our souls. Our souls are broken in this nation.

Ed’s response:

Government doesn’t exist to save souls; it exists to ensure domestic tranquility and provide for the common defense. If I feel my soul needs saving, the very last place I’d look (in the US) for a savior would be Washington DC or Capitol Hill. I’ll trust God and Jesus Christ with my soul, and I’m not going to mistake Barack Obama for either one.

Amen to that.

***

When Republicans talk about broken souls in the context of civil society, the nutroots start screaming about the obliteration of the church-state line.

When the Obama campaign uses the same rhetoric to get him elected to the White House, everyone swoons.

***

Speaking of swooning, Dori Monson and James Taranto have been tracking Obama supporter fainting spells.

The McCain campaign needs to pass out nose plugs. The Obama campaign needs to pass out smelling salts.

Michelle Obama and Barack Obama both worked for the Chicago law firm of Sidley and Austin, one of America’s largest law firms that largely represents gian multinational corporation and large insurance companies and banks. The law firm’s litigation department, which is well known for its excellence, generally defends corporations, including nationally prominent banks and insurance companies. There is nothing wrong with this of course but it does point out the sanctimony of Team Obama. Michelle Obama left the law firm to take a job for a huge Chicago hospital with a salary of $250,000.00. It is not as if the Obamas are operating a clinic in a poor neighborhood of Chicago giving out free breakfast to the kiddies. They may talk about “the least of us” but they sure don’t want to spend Monday through Friday with the poorest people. Much more fun and profitable to spend your time with corporate lawyers from Harvard.

There is something wrong in America but it would be nice if we weren’t all smeared with the same crayon. It is projection, projecting one groups problems on all the other groups. Just come out and tell the truth Barak/Michelle everyone has heard it or seen it already. Its about time we see some change and change comes from within and really the ultimate goal of change is to change in to something better. I will take my neighborhood he can keep the change.

Thank you Mrs. Obama for educating us on the status of our souls and who can fix it. I suggest that your husband start with his own political party as their souls seem to be the most in danger.
We have seen Democratic members of the House of Representatives block votes or fail to bring to a vote measures that will continue to protect our country. Please fix their souls.
We have seen liberal elements (some who support your husband) in towns and cities across the country come into conflict with the U.S. military–the very military where your husband wants to be C-in-C. Please fix these souls so they can tolerate and appreciate the military that provides for the common defense of this country.
To summarize–please clean your own house before you tell us what is dirty in ours.

A President deals mostly with international issues and national security…and not, as some people think, with domestic issues, all the time. So far, I don’t know what he really stands for, on the international scene besides yanking all the troops home right away. I have a strong feeling we’re dealing with another Carter “wannabee”. The international community will run roughshod over him. He’s a “people pleaser” and you can’t be that, dealing with other countries.

Frightening in contrast with the thoughts of a liberal who was imperfect yet a patriot and a war hero. President Kennedy sought higher ground with his famous “ask not what your country can do for you – ask what you can do for your country” call-to-action. And he explained this was about freedom, what he called “a struggle against the common enemies of man: tyranny, poverty, disease, and war itself”.

IT is one thing to exhibit our better natures and foster such through leadership. It is quite another thing to dictatorially confiscate the livelihood of the productive and insist that this totalitarian taking is for the good of our souls.

Be wary of such sanctimonious pronouncements. Couple this with real power and you’ve got Mao 2.0

My opinion of Obamania is not any of the above. The Politicians of today uses this phrase as a throw away “The American Spirit) When they use it, it sounds old, cliche and jaded. Obama doesn’t use it ,he plays the Chord – that is within the all Americans, this chord doesn’t get played alot so the MSM isn’t used to what the sound and response sounds like. Obama is playing the chord, and the more Hillary Clinton goes negative, the longer and stronger and louder, he will play this chord within Americans (The American Spirit) He will drown out the negative, jaded, cliche of Politics as usual. Obamania..it ISN’T about Hope not really, it is just a proposition. Lets turn the Page, that is all it is, it resonates with Americans. Especially Americans who don’t vote from Fear, Guilt or Shame.

The link on “check it out” led to nothing…just like Oh!b♥m♥’s positions. Was the irony intended?

The substance of Obama’s health plan is a bottle of water fer whate’er ails ya’.

Hanover, N.H., Jan. 8, 2008. “Barack Obama’s first and only rally on election day came to a sudden and lengthy stop when a young woman in the Dartmouth College gym fainted, and was eventually rolled off on a gurney by emergency medical technicians,” the Los Angeles Times reported. “At first Obama half-narrated the episode, saying soothing things like, ‘She’s OK,’ ‘She’s talking.’ But the longer she lay on the floor, the quieter Obama got, standing on the podium, arms folded, looking worried as the medical crew worked.” Minneapolis’s WCCO-TV has video showing Obama handing a bottle of water to the Dartmouth damsel in distress.

Hartford, Conn., Feb. 4, 2008. “And when a woman appeared to faint in the standing-only VIP section in front of the podium, Obama paused his speech for over a minute as he directed the crowd to make way for an EMT team and tossed a bottle of water from the stage,” reported the Yale Daily News.

Seattle, Feb. 8, 2008. “Climate change, the Iraq war and Obama tossing a bottle of water to a woman about to faint all received big cheers,” MSNBC.com reported. “As Obama told the crowd to part so that the woman in question could leave and called for help, a young girl in the crowd shouted out, ‘What a man!’ The audience roared with laughter (although the press that has seen this happen before rolled its eyes).”

Obama’s defense policy? Run away! Run Away!

He lifted his Social Security policy from The Who: Hope I die before I get old.

But that’s just the rock star in Oh!b♥m♥ shining through.

Each individual is responsible for their own soul, and by virtue of free will, the fate of one’s soul is in one’s own hands. And, Under our Constitution, spiritual matters are separate and apart from matters of concern to government.

The only movement of which I am aware that believes government is responsible for the souls of its subject is a government under Sharia law. And to keep its subjects on the path of “spiritually correct” behavior, the state enforces religious rules, putting infractions of those rules on the same level as what we understand to be criminal laws.

I would also note that Mrs. Obama’s idea of spiritual matters emanates from a church that bills itself not as a christian denomination, but a “Black Christian” denomination. Apparently, a lack of melanin in one’s skin pigmentation is a measure of the extent to which one is deserving of the love of Jesus. Perhaps her comment was limited to fixing only black souls, to the exclusion of all others. Perhaps her church believes that such other christians have no souls to fix in the first place, otherwise, why limit the inclusion of followers of Christ to a specific race?

Malkin said Presidents should not be in the inspiring business, but should manage the country and conduct wars. I referred to Churchill because he was a great leader whose greatness came from his ability to inspire his people. (He was not a great military tactician or a great manager.)

Obama never mentions the American Spirit he just strums the chord in Americans and all kinds of people respond. Only a self hating leftist, would make that remark “our souls are broken in this nation” That isn’t who Obama is connecting with, not with the size of the vote, he has been getting. Your confusion continues unabated. We refer to these programs, popular or not (after all, it’s always popular among a certain class of people to be able to live off of others’ efforts), as “communist” because that’s what they are. Reread your Marx. The “dictatorship” is the Socialist part, which is necessary to effectuate the wealth transfer that is communism/welfare.

Odd how people have chastising me since I was a child for my paranoid visions of a left-leaning government that finally leaned so far to the left it tilted and fell. From the problems with centralization of federal governmental control and power to the perversion of the role for the SCOTUS things have been rolling steadily downhill for far too long.

I have been called a “conspiracy theorist” and much worse. While I doubt anybody here really cares about me personally …

No matter what your opinion about the presidential VOTE may be, we have by far, the most socialist choices we have ever had in our nation’s history.

The SCOTUS is legislating from the bench unrepentant and not held to any account for their actions.

Acts of sedition and treason are overlooked and often even rewarded behaviors.

Our “representative” government seems to be more interested in representing PACs, SIGs and Lobbyists than we the people.

Social Welfare programs ARE socialism, thus the name Social Welfare and these programs (Along with government power and control) are increasing at an alarming and even dangerous rate.

The limitation of Rights granted to the federal government by the Bill of Rights (Which impedes the power of the feds and does not grant rights to the people) are constantly spat on and shat on and ignored. We the people graciously bow down and accept our fate as our rights are eroded and taken from us.

My second worst fear is that it will come down to just more than voting to change what our government and our nation have become.

My biggest fear is that when that time arrives, we will have already been silenced in the name of PC and the “common-good” of the people.

The only consolation if there is any … if and when it comes to that, the useful idiots have historically been the very first to visit the firing wall so we may at least survive long enough to see that.

Am I scared? Not about FISA! If anybody ever needed a reason to know the difference between a democracy and our Constitutional Republic, they need look no further than our founding fathers.

If anybody still doubts the evil of democracy rather than a nation of equally representative government and law, they need only look at the comments of this lady who I presume has at least some limited knowledge of actual law?

Sorry about another long response …

The subject matter you speak of is not funny I’ll give you that, what I was laughing at was the rant it sounded like me when I was at the tender age of 17 years old, so I was laughing at you not with you. :)

The fact is this “soft invasion” you speak of has been going on for decades since the time of Lenin and the Communist Regime of the U.S.S.R., Soros is not the first of his ilk, Armand Hammer is the father of the “soft invasion”, the U.S. has been infiltrated by socialist since Lenin, Ronald Reagan recognized this in his years in Hollyweird and fought tooth and nail against it all the way to the end of cognitive thinking.

At the 1981 inauguration of Ronald Reagan, Armand Hammer was seated in a section reserved for senators. Hammer stood in the doorway hoping to shake the hand of the president, Reagan ignored him because years earlier, the head of French intelligence had warned him that Hammer was a Soviet agent.

George Soros is the incarnation of Hammer, Soros started his devaluation of the Britsh pound in the 80’s and was successful in 92 just as he is doing to the American Dollar now. Soros as Hammer has friends on both sides of the isle and is just as dangerous as Hammer, all you have to do is look at who they associate there selves with and you will find those that are and were in collusion with them both. I doubt seriously that any of the associated politicians have changed their views now or since dealing with either one.

The “soft invasion” is now a blatant invasion, there is nothing soft about it, it is out in the open socialism, they are not hiding it anymore because they have media brainwashed and educationaly indoctrinated enough people in the preceding decades they no longer have too. I have been telling people about this since my Russians teacher in High School made us aware of the fact. They have been witling away at Democracy year by year and will successfully destroy Democracy if the American population does’nt wake up from their slumber soon.

So in closing it is not funny at all, but some will not get it until it’s to late.

If this was all we considered in choosing a president, Obama would bury his opposition all the way to the White House.

I don’t think conservatives are interested either in where or when a candidate was born, raised, or how he/she led a life. We are interested in today. Obama is an inexperienced politician using his race and desire for power, to win an office for which he really isn’t qualified. Debate is good, but these points really are fundamentally where we are today in terms of our choices. In that context, I wonder why there is so much debate in the first place. Everyone has different opinions and no one thing is right for everyone, of course, and while we can disagree on the details, it seems to me that these basic truths quoted here add up to the
actual reality of what happens if we elect – or assist in the election by abstention or third party voting – of either Hillary Rodham Clinton or Barack Obama into the White House.

We as conservatives and/or Republicans better find some general unity here and get to work, because the enemy is on the horizon and bearing down fast. Between the laws they will very quickly enact and the judical appointments for life they will put into place ASAP to ensure that those new laws stay in place for the rest of our lives I’m wondering if we really have the time and energy to devote to anything except beating the enemy. Because if we don’t, rest assured that in less than two years the United States of America will be fundamentally terribly and horribly changed for the rest of our lives in ways we probably can’t even imagine. Remember, the judges are appointed for life and cannot be removed from power.

No hyperbole, no fear-mongering, no intellectually dishonest posturing. If if view the Democrats’ record and content of their speeches from a conservative point of view, that’s the inevitable reality.

If only it were as moderate a situation as that. That was 30 years ago. There was no cable, no internet. The media (of which I know something about from the inside) couldn’t take the pulse of America so specifically, or to put it a different way, didn’t know how much they could get away with. So there was a modicum of fairness, for appearance sake if nothing else.

All that has changed. The simple slip on election night when Carter was being elected ( Roger Mudd: “I think he (Carter) has a message for us” – which stopped the show cold for 20 seconds, after which time he was suddenly seen regularly in PBS ) would be considered a casual remark for a TV anchor today.

It was a damning time for Carter when he admitted to “lusting in his heart” in a Playboy(!) interview. Today, most of America has come to dismiss Clinton’s affair in the actual Oval office itself with a girl his own daughter’s age, and dragging her reputation through the mud until material evidence was found, and he had to shame the nation with his Prime-time admission of a sexual affair with “that woman”.

We never had a Speaker of the House so relentlessly and unapologetically Marxist. Or two Democratic Presidential candidates who are also so Marxist.

By comparison, I could almost long for the choice among the dems for a Jimmy carter(much as I can’t stand him).

Greysonret, I hear you, but this is 1000 times worse than those halcyon days of 30 years ago. The situation today is genuinely serious.

That depends on your definition of the word “humble.” Obama thundered at a recent speech that his father “abandoned” him a age two. Well, yes, he did: to attend Harvard, which Barack Sr. soon left to return to Kenya as a senior economist in the Kenyatta government. Five years later, his mother married an official of the Director General’s office in the TNI Topography division of the Indonesian Army and later an oil company executive, and moved to Indonesia. When she divorced her second husband, his mother sent her 10-year-old son to live with her parents in Hawaii, where he attended a prestigious and expensive private school. From there, he briefly attended Occidental College in Los Angeles before transferring to, and graduating, Columbia U. in NYC. After a hiatus of five years during which he worked as an Alinsky-styled “activist” in Chicago, he enrolled in Harvard Law School, where he became the first African-American president of Harvard Law Review.

I think you’ll find that Mr. Obama’s carefully crafted life story contains many enhancements that won’t stand the light of scrutiny, such as his self-confessed youthful “drug problem” — a tale of woe that the NY Times (hardly an oppositional source) could find not one fellow student in any of the above-mentioned four schools to corroborate.

As for the “Dream,” I’d say Mr. Obama is a great example of the fruition of Martin Luther King’s dream, but instead of using that truth as his narrative and focus, we are plunged by his rhetoric into the necessity of “change” in an America that he judges to have failed because — to paraphrase the above Churchill quote — all of its citizens are not sharing equally in the misery of some of its citizens.
