Michelle Obama wants you to vote for Barack Obama because she thinks what America needs is a healer-in-chief. Via transcription from Ed Morrissey:

We have lost the understanding that in a democracy, we have a mutual obligation to one another — that we cannot measure the greatness of our society by the strongest and richest of us, but we have to measure our greatness by the least of these. That we have to compromise and sacrifice for one another in order to get things done. That is why I am here, because Barack Obama is the only person in this who understands that. That before we can work on the problems, we have to fix our souls. Our souls are broken in this nation.

Ed’s response:

Government doesn’t exist to save souls; it exists to ensure domestic tranquility and provide for the common defense. If I feel my soul needs saving, the very last place I’d look (in the US) for a savior would be Washington DC or Capitol Hill. I’ll trust God and Jesus Christ with my soul, and I’m not going to mistake Barack Obama for either one.

We refer to these programs, popular or not (after all, it’s always popular among a certain class of people to be able to live off of others’ efforts), as “communist” because that’s what they are. Reread your Marx. The “dictatorship” is the Socialist part, which is necessary to effectuate the wealth transfer that is communism/welfare.

The limitation of Rights granted to the federal government by the Bill of Rights (Which impedes the power of the feds and does not grant rights to the people) are constantly spat on and shat on and ignored. We the people graciously bow down and accept our fate as our rights are eroded and taken from us.

My second worst fear is that it will come down to just more than voting to change what our government and our nation have become.

My biggest fear is that when that time arrives, we will have already been silenced in the name of PC and the “common-good” of the people.

The only consolation if there is any … if and when it comes to that, the useful idiots have historically been the very first to visit the firing wall so we may at least survive long enough to see that.

Am I scared? Not about FISA! If anybody ever needed a reason to know the difference between a democracy and our Constitutional Republic, they need look no further than our founding fathers.

If anybody still doubts the evil of democracy rather than a nation of equally representative government and law, they need only look at the comments of this lady who I presume has at least some limited knowledge of actual law?

I doubt seriously that any of the associated politicians have changed their views now or since dealing with either one.

The “soft invasion” is now a blatant invasion, there is nothing soft about it, it is out in the open socialism, they are not hiding it anymore because they have media brainwashed and educationaly indoctrinated enough people in the preceding decades they no longer have too. I have been telling people about this since my Russians teacher in High School made us aware of the fact. They have been witling away at Democracy year by year and will successfully destroy Democracy if the American population does’nt wake up from their slumber soon.

So in closing it is not funny at all, but some will not get it until it’s to late.

Debate is good, but these points really are fundamentally where we are today in terms of our choices. In that context, I wonder why there is so much debate in the first place. If only it were as moderate a situation as that. That was 30 years ago. There was no cable, no internet. The media (of which I know something about from the inside) couldn’t take the pulse of America so specifically, or to put it a different way, didn’t know how much they could get away with. So there was a modicum of fairness, for appearance sake if nothing else.

All that has changed. The simple slip on election night when Carter was being elected ( Roger Mudd: “I think he (Carter) has a message for us” – which stopped the show cold for 20 seconds, after which time he was suddenly seen regularly in PBS ) would be considered a casual remark for a TV anchor today.

It was a damning time for Carter when he admitted to “lusting in his heart” in a Playboy(!) interview. Today, most of America has come to dismiss Clinton’s affair in the actual Oval office itself with a girl his own daughter’s age, and dragging her reputation through the mud until material evidence was found, and he had to shame the nation with his Prime-time admission of a sexual affair with “that woman”.

We never had a Speaker of the House so relentlessly and unapologetically Marxist. Or two Democratic Presidential candidates who are also so Marxist.

By comparison, I could almost long for the choice among the dems for a Jimmy carter(much as I can’t stand him).

Greysonret, I hear you, but this is 1000 times worse than those halcyon days of 30 years ago. The situation today is genuinely serious.

That depends on your definition of the word “humble.” Obama thundered at a recent speech that his father “abandoned” him a age two. As for the “Dream,” I’d say Mr. Obama is a great example of the fruition of Martin Luther King’s dream, but instead of using that truth as his narrative and focus, we are plunged by his rhetoric into the necessity of “change” in an America that he judges to have failed because — to paraphrase the above Churchill quote — all of its citizens are not sharing equally in the misery of some of its citizens.
