Billy Jeff’s close encounter with an Obama heckler

No, he won’t shut up. Bill Clinton’s on the attack again, rattling tinfoil, blaming the traitors in the media, and yesterday scuffling with a pro-Obama heckler. Not clear whether the famous finger wag entered the picture, but according to the heckler, Billbo’s eruption may have resulted in physical contact. Vi First Read:
Robert Holeman came to Timken High School here today with a message to deliver to Bill Clinton. He did — and he said the former president wasn’t happy about it.
Clinton spoke to a capacity crowd in this Northeast Ohio town, the third of five events today in the Buckeye State. He told voters that the contest was “the power of speeches against the promise of solutions by a world-class change maker.”
Throughout the event, as Clinton made his case for his wife, Holeman’s dissenting voice could be heard. At times he simply shouted Obama’s name. When Clinton would set up a sure applause line, Holeman could be heard heckling. As soon as Clinton finished speaking, the Canton native made a beeline to the ropeline to give Clinton a piece of his mind.
“I asked the president to please stop the bickering between the campaigns,” Holeman said in an interview afterwards. “All this name calling is like the bully in the yard. He can’t get his way, he can’t get nothing done.” Holeman said he thought Clinton was “gasping for air.”
“This is the last hurrah. After March 4, Hillary Clinton will be out of the race for good, and Obama will take the commanding lead,” he said. “She should back him with her delegates immediately. That’s what I’m asking them to do.”
Holeman said that Clinton responded by saying Obama came after him first. Holeman also described Clinton’s reaction to him as “irate.”
“I think he even hit me in the face with his hand,” he said. “He did give me a little pop. It was okay, because I understand his tenacity for his wife.” Clinton did engage Holeman for a few minutes, at times pointing directly at him. It was unclear whether he did make physical contact, however.
First Read adds: “[A] spokesperson for President Clinton who was near the president said there was no physical contact.”
Well, that’s what Clinton spokespeople are trained to say, isn’t it?

Really, heckling a former president is pretty low-class, even if the prez is Bill Clinton.

If Hillary gets elected, my TV won’t survive. Don’t know how it survived the 8 years he was in office because every time he comes on, I throw whatever is in my hand at his image.

I agree with mojoe (#1) and the second paragraph of eforhan (#9)–the hecler was acting badly, and probably got less than he deserved. Political discourse won’t improve with hecklers all over the place.

I agree with jones, he needs to act Presidential. Do you ever think we’d see George Bush act like this in public? No. Seems recently the Democrats have all become unhinged, and its a symptom that starts at the top.

it does sound as though the guy came with a confrontational ‘air’ to the speech by the ex-prez, so it was without taste. however, i do love watching the clinton machine implode. it is like on the freeway here in L.A. after an accident. I tell myself don’t watch, don’t look but then you can’t help it you finally get to the point of the accident and you say, heck this thing kept me waiting for almost 2 hours i have to see what is!
it will be interesting to see how this all plays out. i just hope that the Clinton’s go to the dust heap of ‘history’. hoping it is sooner rather than later.

Daughter Chelsea has been in Hawaii campaigning for mommy. Not a lot to say, but I do wish that Hillary could trade voices with her. Chelsea lacks the shrill, the screech, and the whine, so at least one can tolerate listening to her.

I found Chelsea to be monotonic, and emotionless, at least in the clips I’ve viewed. I don’t see her as a big help for mommy.

you think? you waiting to see if he’ll settle out of court first? Robert Holeman doesn’t deserve this attention, and should’ve been thrown out after one warning, same as any heckler. If a tazer is required, so be it.

I don’t agree with either Clinton, but I was raised with the decency to let them speak, without heckling. It serves no purpose, other than getting the heckler his minute of fame (the real purpose). Childish behavior and no class.

Anchoress had a good post on Friday about free speech. She describes Olbermann’s vile hatred toward President Bush; demonstrations by Sheehan, et. al., protesting outside the Crawford Ranch, etc. …to anything negative or derogatory about the Clintons in the media. All manner of spiteful words or behaviour are ignored by Pres. Bush, while any discouraging word toward the Clintons is met with swift and harsh retaliation.
Not that I’m a supporter of Pres. Clinton at all, but I do feel sorry for him at having to put up with jerks like this heckler.
Not that his response after the speech was any better. But two wrongs just make both sides look like idiots.
Did anyone else see CNN (between 6:30-7:00 PM, EST, last night) report on a “conservative blog site which shall remain nameless” posting the above photoshop of Clinton by David Lunde?
Now why would CNN want Michelle to remain nameless?
If this had been a Republican acting like this, first, the press would rush to say how unfairly the “African-American” had been treated, secondly, how uncompassionate conservatives really are, and the story would have been the top news item of the day. Please spare me any compassion for Bill Clinton, former President or not. The thought of him as First Gentleman makes me ill.
